problem with nexus?

Rats! That's what happens when you're tired. :D

Anyway, as I sort of said, FoggyZerani said and I quote: "I don't want to sound like a paranoid person"

And I hate to repeat an often said phrase, but: You're not paranoid when they really are after you.

There--that's better.

PS: I enjoyed that Poontank. :D (Following you, I mean.)

Spelling, spelling, spelling--I'm going to give up spelling...

"WHY DO YOU KEEP FOLLOWING MEEEE?!!"

- 'To tell you that you're hopelessly paranoid..." :s

In the confusion of who said what, I nearly missed this gem. It's an actual quote from Poontank. Sorry, GingerTom, but I've heard your common version many times. :P Poontank's is a nice one-up and new to me.

It's really easy for such guys to bend the truth' date=' with nobody around to prove them wrong... Then again, in theory [i']I[/i] could be a lying bastard, demonizing those hard-working good people over there, as much as I am a pedophile pornographic perpetrator to Buttah.

This is my whole problem with them deleting threads I have to admit. They lock it up immediately then when you want to see what went wrong, what was so bad that "made" them ban the person, the thread is just gone. I know they have their reasons, or at least I think they do. I dunno I'm prolly naive about it. After what happened not just to myself but things I have seen in actual screen shots before the thread disappeared, I can't help but question them. If the thread has lots of vulgarities, cussing, racist slurs ok I get it. It needs to go. But it's never like that. It's someone saying the name of a site or a person. I have seen the threads and I know people aren't just making it up. It's when the thread suddenly vanishes from their site that I start to wonder why it was so important to have to be deleted right away. It's just too shady an action. I might be reading too much into it though I dunno, I don't want to sound like a paranoid person or like I'm just joining in on the "beat up Nexus" vibe. (This is one of a hundred sites with this vibe, I am in fact not speaking of this site or any persons specifically and I don't mean any offense. Literally.) I dunno, I feel like they have brought it upon themselves though with their actions and weird, seemingly pushy censoring.

Whenever you say, "Buttah" I always think of a stick of butter shaped into a little Buddha Statue XD

Hell. Just by mentioning the word "LL" and you may get instabanned.

OT: Now if someone can make those t-shirts into Skyrim...

O_O OMG KAWAII DESU!!! - But in reality I imagine the guy more along the lines of this:

Butterball_01.jpgbutterball.jpg

butterball001_jpg.jpg Character's name is 'Butterball' :D

Skyrim-specific shirts! "Freezing cold and snow and ice - yet my T-shirt's cracking wise!" :dodgy:

something that crossed my mind is it possible to promote LL on the nexus Facebook page? something in the comments they cant ban you there and you are just promoting another mod site that takes what nexus doesn't take they shouldn't be able to trace your ip address using Facebook and blocks all accounts on it or could they? just a thought that crossed my mind. of course LL is a 18+ site so when i think about ti more it doesn't seem like a idea to promote LL since 13+ view that page (aside the games M (17+) rating.

I've never been contacted by a mod there, never banned, never in any "trouble." I did break the rules once, and if need arises, I'll do it again. I was concerned when it happened, but not overly; getting around website bans is something I've been doing for many years.

Stupid details, irrelevant:

Found a mod I really liked, high desert tactical gear or something like that. The author had been extremely lazy and the mod had one main download and then like 500 updates you needed to apply sequentially to get to the latest version. I hate that shit. It makes me rage.

So I downloaded it all, rolled it all back up, and uploaded. PM'd the mod author, made it very clear that at his request (public or private) I would take it down, and that I was not the mod author. 20-30 downloads. No trouble. He finally grabbed it and thanked me, and I took it down.

Like I said, irrelevant. Aren't you sorry you opened the spoiler now?

There are maybe half a dozen things that make me rage against that site on a personal level, despite having never been in any trouble over there. Due to reasons outlined in this thread, I don't ever post in the forums or comments (maybe once? I forget). I only endorse mods that come from people here, and only rarely. My rage comes from the actual sins, perpetrated by both the modders and the staff there, one enabling the other.

1. Anti-collaboration. They are. If they weren't, then the default permissions when you upload a mod would be OPEN, not closed. I'm betting half or more of the mods there have fully restricted permissions simply because that is the default and people are too lazy to read. Those defaults are entirely under staff control. It tells you a lot about their mindset just looking at those default values.

2. Royal law (one for the peasants, one for the staff). There are several modders here at LL that have been banned over there, for whatever reason. They are unable to remove their mods as a result, and staff has been absolutely unresponsive to requests to have them removed. This actually goes against their own TOS/AUP which says if you are banned, and want your material removed, just email them and they will take care of it.

3. Prejudice and GbyA. There is NOTHING in sexout that violates the TOS over there, except perhaps the rape functionality. Because it is, at its core, based on Sexus, it is not allowed there. Period. I have stronger anti-CP protection in Sexout than exists in any other sex mod, period. You'll find no stronger protector of copyright law and IP protection in general. Sexout is simply "guilty by association." If I renamed it (and all the internals as well) I'm certain it would be allowed there. I refuse to go through the effort of circumventing their prejudice.

4. Asinine re-up rules, part 1. Joe blow abandons his mod and hasn't been heard from in months or years. He neglected to put the "if I disappear, you can have it" note in his mod. Where does that leave you? Somewhere dark and cold.

5. Asinine re-up rules, part 2. Their rules regarding uploading "packs" of mods and so on are outrageous. If you give credit where credit is due, and you're uploading what is freeware anyway, what the hell is the problem? My FONV character is made up of parts of Type3, Type6, Beware of Girl, and other resources. It looks pretty good, IMHO. Uploading it there would be instant banneration, and for what?

6. The crappy interface. Seriously. The "comments go to a forum" aspect, coupled with the "holy shit I did not even know I was in a forum because there is no link to it" aspect, make for the most retarded ADHD addled conversations ever seen, anywhere. It's like twitter for kids who had their Ritalin secretly swapped with crystal meth.

7. The staff, generally. The top dog is an egomaniac. As long as the second tier dogs recognize who the alpha is, they can go all feral on people farther down the food chain (you and I.) They don't all do it, actually just a few, but the situation is the same as what you find many places with the police. A few bad apples and all that. When the top apple is bad, there's no hope.

I use the site for what it is: A download resource, and that's it. I don't use any 'ad blocker' beyond noscript, but once you remove all the default allowed stuff from noscript, and tell it to stop following redirects, it works just as well. I don't even allow google scripts -- which I think is what's preventing ads HERE from showing up. I'll look into that. I've never seen an ad there, or here.

So in conclusion, exactly the opposite of what you probably expect. I like it. I'm glad it's there. It saves sites like this one money. LL and every other smaller site can operate much more cheaply because nexus is eating the lions share of the hosting and bandwidth costs. I do not have to interact, read comments, or do anything except search the mods, download them, and then read the install instructions. As far as I'm concerned, that site has no forums, has no staff, and has no community. It's a big anonymous FTP site.

I'll download what I want, use their bandwidth, and leave. The side effect is, if you do want them to fail, following my example is one of the easier paths to attaining that. If and when that does happen, I'm more than ready to step in and help build and support the replacement from the ground up. For now, there's no reason to bother, though I'll support LL however it needs my support.

1. Don't forget to blame default human pettiness. They ate so much shit because of idiotic "modder" that they decided to do it this way to protect them from drama queen and crying babies.

Face it people: when your mod and release on the internet you're done, it's free and public. I chose to "try" to protect my work only because I didn't wanted a stupid cast and fuck mod to spoil my nice new animations for new players.

2. This is a big issue. Supposedly they worked on it but you're not the first one to complain. You need to create a backup account with rights on your files.

3. It's more laziness than anything out. In the end, the result is the same agreed.

4. Well as long as you can download it, if you want to re-release it and modify it and the original author is not there I don't see what's preventing you to do so?

5. Probably same as 1.

6. Ok this one really makes me laugh. Everytime they "update" the site its worse :)

7. Starting as a kid with games and manage to live out from your passion and even hire people then being revered as a semi-god really was an accident. Every accident creates damage. Still, I think Robin managed to stay honest with himself. The staff on the other hand...

It's a big anonymous FTP site.

You summarized it nicely.

1. This is probably correct, but that too speaks volumes. Either they're (even subconsciously) anti-collaboration themselves, or they're simple minded populists giving in to whoever whines the loudest. In either case, they're pathetic.

2. Yeah. It wasn't me, I haven't been banned or reprimanded, but we have a few modders here that have experienced it.

3. I don't see how it's laziness. I can't upload sexout there, even though it doesn't break the rules. Why? Because it's (extremely loosely) based on Sexus -- and because it's primarily hosted here.

4. Here? Nothing prevents it. There? Upload someone elses work without permission = ban. Simple as that, if you get caught. This has happened more than once with people uploading fixed versions of abandoned mods.

5. Agreed. Everything I've done, anyone else can do whatever they want to do with. I can't stop them, and I have no intention of trying, and no desire to either.

Most of them claim they just don't want lots of different versions getting spread around, which is bullshit. If I put the BNB skeleton in the sexout download, anyone can, at any time, download the official one and overwrite mine. Still, that's the "why" when you ask "Why can't I redistribute this?"

6. I can't stand it. Same thing happened to planet*.com, which I used to prefer over Nexus. Now the planet* sites are terrible. How can a web UI suck this bad today in 2012? I don't get it. This will kill them sites faster than anything else can, to be honest.

7. Robin is as much to blame as anyone. He allows it to go on. He perpetrates some of the crimes himself. His ego seems to have its own gravitational field. He shits on who he wants, and as long as his underlings don't shit on *him*, they too are free to shit on whoever they want.

So yeah.. FTP site. Simple. Thanks for the bandwidth. Don't fuck the site up too much, FTP sites are supposed to be easy, or they quickly become pointless.

ROFL. They really pissed you off didn't they?

What I meant by laziness is that they simply apply the ban hammer just based on some ancient history or hints disregarding actual facts. It's simply impossible to maintain correctly a site like the Nexus with such a small team so they obviously have no choice but to spoil the work and be incompetent. I don't blame them, maybe they're really trying. It's just not possible.

For the upload, if the author do not show sign of life, create an account, upload the mod, say you have permission. If the author THEN and only THEN manifest himself as a cry baby because someone managed to fixed his fucked up mod, then post your mails to him showing he never answered and show the world what a cunt he his... Then your account is banned and who cares...

Posted

Well yes and no. Yes they've quite obviously pissed me off, but no, they haven't actually done anything to me...!

The laziness, yeah I can see that. I don't buy the excuse though. The site is not that busy. Moderating the forums is one thing, that's an endless thankless task. Moderating the uploads though, like actually checking that they violate the rules or not, is much much easier. In the thread linked earlier than this one, Robin tries to make the point that a whole "100 people a day" sign up or something like that, like that's some absurd amount of people to have to moderate.

This marks him as either being intentionally dishonest (he doesn't believe 100 people a day is a lot to deal with, but says it is) or a fool (he actually does believe that).

The fact that the mods there, admittedly, all have the ability to perform all kinds of invasive actions is simple proof that he doesn't give a shit about the users of the site in the least.

As for that last part, I do kind of like it, but again.. too much effort. If I can't upload my mod(s) there, I don't care to fix other peoples and upload theirs anymore. The environment there was so hostile, that when I found this place, like many others, I was paranoid as hell about getting in trouble.

I fixed (and then broke. A lot.) of things in Loogies Legion Tryout and uploaded it with a million apologies and promises to remove it immediately and not do it again, if so instructed. Same thing when I started working on Sexout. It took a little while for me to figure out that this place really was different.. and I've been on an absurdly helpful crusade ever since.

It's amazing the kind of help that's out there, if people will just allow it. ;)

Fuuk.

Myrmaad sure is fun to troll.

She just revealed to me that an admin can really ban you if she or he is in a bad mood.

They say they monitor each and ever moderator action since the chat is logged.

I say they're all biased anyway.

Had i haven't left the scene earlier i would as well be banned for "questioning moderator actions."

I got Vampire Dante very much interested in my Necromancer moon.

lol you really make him beg to you, can't believe it :D

ah well, recently logged in to my banned account to check my old PM, and then I found that messenger button was gone, goddammit all of my modders tips are inside, goddammit.

I hope LadyMilla realize that i'm not the only pirating guy on there.

Dude, like i said, the gods of the nexus, myrmaad is the greatest dung pile over there together with blackbaron. Can you believe that this woman is actually older than 30 years? but behaves like a princess with a sugar cane up in her ass. Infact the majority of the moderators there are beyond biased, banning anyone on a whim as we all know. So it's all about their mood lol. And then you don't even have the "right" to question them.

But hell, i'm propably saying something we've all already said somewhere in the forums here. I just wonder if those people over there realize how rotten their personality is. Ha! Propably not.

I must admit that reading this thread is great fun. ;)

Glad you're enjoying the read. Since we can't say anything to anyone over there without getting banned, we have to discuss it amongst ourselves elsewhere, but I'm sure you know that. Thanks for proving my point about the moderators finding us over here on a site that's banned from being discussed on the Nexus. :D

Edit: I suppose with all the links in this thread pointing back to the site, somebody finally noticed by checking the referrals in the tracker.

It's mods like these that make me wonder what's really wrong with some people on this site. I'm so sick of seeing mods that have to do with nudity, especially the sh*t-ton of sexy armor mods.

I'm so sick of people who can't seem to be able to control themselves. If you don't like it, move on to something else, quietly. Since you can't seem to do that, I will help you. Banned. -myrmaad

Nephenee13: Its called "Lovers with PK" but I don't think its on the nexus, I think you need to go to www.*site not allowed*.com to get it.

Nope. This^

And this

I always heard that site and this were at odds. So its filtered, but google is your friend, it won't be hard to find.
