Etc Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 Lemme give you a well-intended advice: Run into minor problems there by speaking freely a few words of criticism (as you've proven here) and then come back and repeat your propaganda chaff ... without blushing for shame. You do not know me. I tried to keep nexus history out of the conversation for good reason. It just shouldn't matter. The topic of the thread is "problem with nexus?" It's not "How long have you had problems with the nexus." If you must know' date=' I've been a member of the nexus since 2009. I have had very few run-in's with the moderators because I want to continue using the site for all that is good about it. I was spoken to twice about my own posted images and even warned about the content of another. I disagree completely with the ruling, but I obeyed because it felt like the courteous thing to do. And to me, the right thing to do. I should go post in the nice thread. There are many positive things about the Nexus. On generalizing. As for generalizing, I tried not to. I know not all here are guilty of anything I may have been accusing of. It just really ticked me off to see someone's opinion spit on and celebrated. People have every right to voice their opinion to the nexus moderators, but with some of the spiteful words slung around here, how can anything good come from it? I just take everything with a grain of salt. I have better things I can do with my personal time than worry about who is getting banned at the nexus and why. I would gladly defend anyone who is wrongly banned for something the mods took out of context, but that is the business of the user and not my own. I do wish sometimes the moderators would listen a little more to reason in those situations, but I also remember there are sometimes truths being withheld from even our eyes. Not everything is out in the open. I'm just sorry to see that others have faces such ugliness. Not everyone's experience is going to be the same over there, that's for sure. They should make that their tagline. NexusNetwork: "Experience may vary from user to user."
Surenas Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 Indeed, it's too late for any epiphany on your side, my old friend Eiries. You have made your choice, and so did I. That's why you are still there in your hole in the ground. And you are not still there because you have shown any spine in public, the opposite is the case! In so far your voice doesn't count that much among the banned. Prove youself first with to be verified stuff and don't talk big when your voice is actually that small over there. You're not the hero of free speech you want to sell us here. Do you read me?
Eiries Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 Do you read me? I sure do; you're a freaking thesaurus. All those words and nothing to say. I don't have to prove anything to you. ...But I'm going to anyway. You want to talk about spines? I've been threatened with a ban no less than three times, dealt with massive moderator wallposts doing little more than bash me into the ground, and why? Because I tried to make a difference. I fought for the sake of others and felt the lashes that returned. What the fuck did you do? Poetically tell a few people they're idiots, put a few tits on your profile, then come here acting like you fit in with these people? You fucked up Surenas: a lot. Many of these people didn't; they have legitimate concerns with few people to turn to. So don't give me your high and mighty attitude, because your words mean nothing when they're being muffled with the walls of your own colon.
Surenas Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 Oh, I love a clean strike. You simply don't understand your role there, Eiries. It is the role of a coward through fear (in the worst case by passion). I've already remind you of the Mercury11 affair. Thus it doesn't impress me that you have said within two hours here more than in 5 years over there. It doesn't change the fact that you have drawn in your horns under pressure like so many people. As a hero you're really a joke. Still I don't believe that you want to play me Buddah for a while, i.e. to curve your splitted tongue backwards. Don't disturb my concentration, friend - you might find it fatal. Finally, the invitation to move on to the I-like-Nexus thread you are not interested in, I see. Instead you'd like to convince the banned of their banishment? Fight a banned in the exile without an army in the rear? Fascinating...
Eiries Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 Nope nope, not even gonna touch this any more. Not even gonna bother going into how freaking deluded you are. Have a nice day, Surenas. Hope to see you in a more pleasant situation in the future.
Surenas Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 Hell yeah. That'd be the case after the fall of the Nexus. Ah, don't worry about it. Once you have lost your semi-skilled stubbornness we might drink a beer or a glass of milk, if you prefer that, np my friend. Till then - happy hiding!
sbseed Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 the problem is they dont care about their own community... they use the ban hammer if you even look at them in a way they think is against the nexus at all. further more everything they actually touch is crap - shit - refuse... good only for burning, even a noob coder could do better. the only reason the site is still functioning is because a 3rd party maintains it. then there is the fact that they want you to pay them for the privilege of downloading mods that arent even made by them. that is for both modders and those who use them. besides them being assholes, because you know the old saying "you are what you eat" so they must have eaten alot of em. LMAO
Henfruit23 Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 I hate it when two members go off at each other over this. The main problem, we can all agree on, is the moderators that seem to have a magic wand shoved so far up their ass that they're coughing fireballs. I can understand the whole "no questioning moderators' actions in public" rule, and it should work in theory, but in practice allows for the sort of abuse that got this thread started in the first place. That and an utterly warped definition of trolling, and often zapping the person that shoots back instead of the person who fired the first shot. I don't have a problem with the nexus sites themselves. No, my beef is with how the moderators handle their bannings. A banning seems a bit excessive when a posting restriction would work better. Their zero-tolerance policies in the file threads are just idiotic, as they will not make any distinctions between someone who wants to douse the thread in napalm and someone who has come home from the crappiest day of their life and wants to blow off steam. In short, love the site, do not love the moderators' style of handling things. It fosters a burning hatred in the detractors, and oftentimes, the detractors have a point. Edit- As a note, I'm not one of the banned. I'm just a logic nut that can't stand injustice.
Surenas Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 @ Henfruit23 I know what you're trying to say, and the rule for users is indeed very simple, and I've mentioned it already in one of my first posting here: For the side is not to be separated from its staff by logical reasons, grab the stuff you need without a quack, if you must and as long it is still hosted there, for once you've made a quack you are eventually the duck in one of the next duckings. Live long and prosper!
Masterpandabear Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 The problem is that most people have the wrong idea of what is the purpose of moderators (including moderators themselves of course). Most of them think they are law enforcement agents, that they are the forum police...and that is not it. Yes enforcing rules, deleting post, banning malicious users, etc is part of what the need to do but it is not their main goal. The purpose of moderators is to help managing the forums, to create new content and keep the forums alive. Quite some moderators at nexus seems to have this "police forum syndrome" and most likely believe that if they don't correct/warn/ban/threaten users then they are not doing their job. Personally i have no problem with Nexus but i am not active in their forums, i only download mods, see screenshots and comment on some mods, usually to encourage the mod authors and to suggest. I do understand their position thou, they are based on the UK so i understand how careful they have to be with copyright infringement. They have also become a huge community...and that is hard to control but it does not give them green light to treat users like garbage.
Guest GingerTom Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 Anyone care to comment on this situation? http://tes.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=41773
Surenas Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 Anyone care to comment on this situation? http://tes.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=41773 Is there a communication breakdown between the modders? No credits given! Permission required (to give credits) first! In this way both have to face a frakkin short career, I tell ya!
Guest GingerTom Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 I admire you, Surenas, because you see 'it' immediately every time.
thesapien Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 Etc. for real? Seems odd to suddenly jump from silence with a rant about a rant but then miss all the juicy bits. Etc has said with that one post' date=' far more than what others have been saying for many pages. [/quote'] Yes, it was a wall of text. However, most of it didn't apply to much of anything having to do with what has been said in this thread. Etc fabricated a Strawman, then blew the Strawman. Maybe I'm feeling left out.
thesapien Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 Quite some moderators at nexus seems to have this "police forum syndrome" and most likely believe that if they don't correct/warn/ban/threaten users then they are not doing their job. Agreed. If I may overgeneralize to make a point... The kind of people who like Nexus are the kind who feel safe around cops. They like being impotent, want to have adult decisions made for them, and never really mature. The type of person who understands that safety isn't had by others, who is mature enough to judge the raw world before filtering by others, will not appreciate the Nexus taint. Cops do not Great Communities make. Actually, Great Communities find cops unemployed with little to do except make small issues bigger.
Guest GingerTom Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 Etc quote: 'about that conversation on "Wolves and Sheep". Seems like you have quite the little flock of your own' Since thesapien brought that post up again: I am most definitely not a sheep but I do, however, like to walk a well-traveled road with like-minded fellow travellers... Edit: Spelling. @thespian--nice.
Metal_Izanagi Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 thesapien, I agree completely. Edit: Put in my two cents on the patch thing. "Not just your mod that this is for, Darkrder. This patch is for three mods, and enables people that use them all to use them together. Sure it would've been nice to get your permission first, but this is, again, not just for /your/ mod. If you don't want people to be able to use your mod with other mods, may as well just put it in big letters on your mod page. This isn't a hindrance to your mod. It's a help, so you should be happy it was made." AKA fuck you Darkrder, quit whining when someone did your work for you.
Nonsense667 Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 Agreed. If I may overgeneralize to make a point... The kind of people who like Nexus are the kind who feel safe around cops. They like being impotent' date=' want to have adult decisions made for them, and never really mature.[/b'] The type of person who understands that safety isn't had by others, who is mature enough to judge the raw world before filtering by others, will not appreciate the Nexus taint. Cops do not Great Communities make. Actually, Great Communities find cops unemployed with little to do except make small issues bigger. And what do you know, I actually do appreciate and respect cops. That is a very interesting relation you have made there, I am curious if it applies to others as well. Though I can't say I am appreciating being called immature and impotent for doing so.
Metal_Izanagi Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 Impotent doesn't just mean being unable to produce sperm, dude. It means being weak, without the capability to stand for oneself, and not having the guts to stand up for one's own beliefs. Which is exactly what people that want cops hanging around keeping the peace for them are. I don't need a cop to keep the peace for me. I can keep my own peace just fine. As for mature, maybe you need to experience more of the world, so you can learn that cops aren't your saviors.
Rebel o Conner Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 @loder I just clicked on your link and read this from Mods Reloaded site: Re: Moderators ruining TheNexusForums? Postby Rebel O Conner » Sun Oct 02' date=' 2011 5:04 pmi remember this guy, acermore. he was banned on every modding site for trolling. i don't think he's a good example to complain about nexus. [/quote'] That's a bold-faced lie by Rebel O Conner. Acermore was a member on Rebel's site, mentioned that TesNexus was attacking people for putting up nudity mods and Rebel locked the thread immediately, saying he didn't want to be bad-mouthing another site. Acermore started a new thread saying, 'Fine. Then if you're going to censor just like TesNexus then I don't want to be part of this site'. And he quit the site. Rebel O Conner (lier, lier, pants on fire) was just spitting out sour grapes--seeing as how everyone left his site after that and he lost it. 1) it wasn't my site, i was just modderator. 2) we have rules, and they said no insult, no spam and so on, so i did my moderator job. and to avoid trolls was a part of this job. 3)acermore was just a troll, and he was banned by my friend AlienSlof, so i bet she was right to do, because she's serious. 4) when you have things to tell me, tell to to me, not a in a forum on my back. you call me liar? i call you a coward.
Guest Loogie Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 I've been getting a lot of reported posts from this thread, from various people. Invariably, it's someone complaining they've been insulted - then I come in here to see they have insulted the person they reported right back. Either you're adults and can either: 1) Report a post and not insult back because you know things are going to get taken care of. 2) Insult back and not a report a post, because you can take care of yourself. But yet all I've seen is posts reported then an insult delivered by the reporter. If you engage in the behavior you just complained about, what's my motivation to take you seriously? Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. The tradeoff is if your opinion upsets someone else, they probably aren't going to be nice. Short of someone being racist or threatening to track someone down and hurt them, there isn't much I can do. The TLDR version: if someone is disrespectful to you, and you're disrespectful right back, you cannot then claim to be a wronged party.

As it is, currently, it looks like you're just defending a friend of yours as a knee-jerk reaction, rather than actually looking into the situation.

Surenas Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 Much would have been achieved already if the faithful of both sides would go to their church instead to the one of the others, the wrong one, viz the people with problems better stay here and those who like it as it is better remain in the parallel thread, freely. Problems occur imo only due to visits by two-timers, sometimes intended as provocation and then easily understood as such. Peace and happy problem solving or happy liking, whatever you prefer.
