Please come to a first solution or at least an idea of it, and this on a broader basis. For me nothing is a must - I don't hate them like others do or I'd to hate my own past there also. I just hold them in contempt by good reasons.

Greg, Vagrant is one of the mods that gave surenas a strike. Not the only one, and multiple warnings and pleas to desist were given first that went unheeded. Many others have been banned for unintentinal mistakes, and given no warning at all.

 

They are the ones with a legitimate gripe. Many of them actually contributed (in a meaningful, concrete way) to the community. Helping others out whenever possible, creating content, and so on.

 

It's insulting to them and the community as a whole for surenas to lump herself in with any of them as someone with an axe to grind.

 

It's no wonder they don't speak up more loudly themselves. They'd simply be drowned out by the sesquipedalian loquaciousness

 

P.S.: I'm 35. Been geeking out with other friendly folks online since the 300bps days. I have, however, been exactly this blunt and direct my entire life.

The fact that I don't "know" the staff at the nexus is irrelevant to what I said. Did you even stop your ranting to read my post or read your own? Saying that folks are fearful because they won't go get banned is somehow logical? Please share whatever it is your smoking cause that MUST be some GOOD SHIT!!!!

Save yourself a boat load of mental angst and learn to let things slide. If I get banned at some site for what I feel are stupid reasons, I assure you I would be mad and perhaps even rant over it for a day or so, but then I would MOVE ON!!!!

That first warning was for you just showing up in a thread and shitting on it, insulting everyone else involved. For nothing. For no reason. The act of an immature child lashing out because, damn it, she can.

 

The second one was for trolling and insulting members of the armed forces.

Outsider's perspective here, but it looks like miscommunication, coupled with differing opinions on just how screwed-up Nexus is. I dunno if I've actually gotten any warnings over there. If I haven't, it's a miracle, considering how many times the moderators have privately accused me of crap and/or threatened me with a ban, usually for questioning their almighty, infallible authority.

I highly doubt anyone DOESN'T agree that the nexus is screwed up! That is perhaps the ONE thing that ALL agree on

My only single issue is when someone brow beats & insults others because they won't go get banned or pick fights.

 

I am fine with someone ranting....truthfully, I enjoy reading rants to show you how sick in the head I am, which is the only reason I stop in to read this thread.

Apologies for my part in the derailment.

 

I can't stand the admins or most of the modders over there. The users are in a class all their own. I do appreciate the service they provide re: hosting and downloading though, and the fact that I can do that without having to interact any other way is convenient. That shit ain't cheap, and being a sysadmin at an operation like that is a thankless job. I will continue to visit the site and download stuff, and might even put the NVSE plugin there when it's ready. If I mention LL when I do (and I will), and that results in a ban, so be it. Hardly anything to get in a huff over.

As to LL being banned over at the nexus...I think that actually helps us. Those that search are rewarded by finding us - and those who do that searching tend to be the cheerful/friendly type and not the "I fucking want this RIGHT NOW BITCH" type.

There is always one last little detail. The chances for success are high, high enough for Valve to give it a try. And the exodus of modders to Steam has already begun... before the end of the first month! Now, a Steam monopoly is not necessarily what we'd expect from the future but it proves the efficiency of any alternative to the Dark Nexus which btw was scene-whide leading in the freedom of free speech in earlier days, till the great collapse in 2009 that has led to the gag rule and the order to fire at will.

 

Regarding an own alternative people have just started to give it some thoughts, any expectation of prefab solutions is farfetched, if not ridiculous.

 

The main question is: Is freedom, especially the freedom of free speech (which is not to be confused with trolling and ad hominem) worth fighting for? Our forefathers thought so and died for it, and finally gave it to us Westerners as a hard-won gift. Doubtlessly not that we throw it away as soon as possible, as a heavy keyboard burden in the new virtual world to make the way free for the old evil - the presumed dead models of tyranny, bondage and finally perhaps even slavery. Think of it before you cheer the tyrant again on fuhrer's birthday. For once you stand in front of a virtual death squad, forsaken in the early morning mist, it will be to late for a questioning of earlier made wrong decisions.

I agree, for someone who "no longer cares" and "has moved on", you sure keep coming back to kick up more dust a lot. There's probably worse issues in the world to worry about. I don't mean to say there are no problems over at Nexus, but the whole "this is Sparta" routine is getting old and is probably driving more people away from your cause than it is attracting. Simple facts give a much better picture than your "prophesies of doom".

On the cause. You know of none, the vista is missed. That is your problem, a serious one. Blind you are for the Nexus past, how will you ever understand the Nexus present and the resulting future, hmm?

And no, I don't want to attract people for a fight against virtual tyranny that don't even feel tyrannized cos they haven't yet left the safe hole in the ground, haven't yet spoken freely there, who are thus still without any idea of being muzzled by the new rules alone. Read the rules, read them twice instead of trying to lull folks from there into a false sense of security.

 

Which brings me to the terminology I use for the time being. It's the illustration of the martial tones that you'll hear from them when you break the enforced ranks, consciously or just accidentally doesn't matter. If you hear no more such tones from them you might as well be banned already. Once you are banned which is daily work there your respect as human being gets dragged through the mire, to scare your friends as well as to hurt you from afar. They use the banned as a warning to all others. Now, if you think all this is normal for a human society, well, then we have a fundamentally different understanding of a social society as such.
