A good example is that Grisle in the Balazar mod during the quest at the Thalmor Embassy used a Jordis clone (and other NPCs, but I ignored them). At first when I saw this, I thought it was deliberate (Then she had a different name to Jordis) and suggested some dialogue for her, and then the bit with the dog for her after completing the quest. 

With Animal Research we also have other beast lovers than Tirwin or PC. Currently they are Ria and Angi, and later in the story we may meet at least minimum of 2 NPCs who are also beast lovers.


I will state here that my suggestions can prolong the process of creating the next update as we have now in the case of Animal Research or we have encountered some problems related to the location itself as we had with the cave where we find the bear for the first time (Trolls were able to appear there and even as the mod killed them and turned them off, but we decided that it can be left as it fits nicely with the later quest ‘double trouble’ (trolls) where we recover the cave for mr. bear. :3

Ideas I thought about concerning both Ria and Angi were maybe Ria could find another place to house her bear much later after the troll incident was completed (some place not a vanilla location) she could mention that in a letter or something?... and on top of that maybe allow both the bear at that point and Anji's Snowflake to be available and reusable? Just tossing ideas out there... you're both doing great with the design as is.

This is in the todo list lda of this update, and whether they will be I don't know.

 

Angi is a simple matter to add the appropriate dialogues, but for Ria a little more complicated, but rather there will be a cloning of the cave and we will only be able to go there through dialogue with her. Any way you look at it the PC might want to play with her too, right?

Another small idea would be to integrate "dirty deeds" where she could work in husbandry (milking the horse with her body), wolf "training" etc after she specifically got the knowledge from her main quest for each animal.

 

With a small dialogue where the player character defining if she wants tyrwin to help her on the same horse or to take her own horse separately or take two horses at once on tyrwin.

 

Same for canine., bear etc. So she could count to help you accomplish the quest (dirty deeds).

 

Another idea: Currently i am loohing for a home with animals but it seems not existing at the time. Maybe make a small farm you can buy with multiple dog horse bears etc. Does not really needs to be luxurious. Where they could rest and do their things. A little like animal mansion but fully own by the player and with no visitors.

 

I don't know just throwing ideas.

 

Maybe integrate balazar bitch quest so she can react and participate or help to tame when necessary.

 

I gotta say tyrwin is my favorite follower for now ;)

Yep, I have to change tactics myself when going after items which I assume are not in a container... I typically play stealthy, but not in my current game it's all shouts and spell-sword type attacks which are my staple. Spent a couple hours looking for a skull which was needed for a puzzle one time... turned out blew it two rooms away.

An informative post for the next Animal Research update.

 

- 4 quets out of 7 have been completed.
- The 5th quest is almost done.
- Removed KHS requirement.
- Obviously some bug fixes for previous tasks.

 

A certain function works quite well. Also possible that it will appear in the next update. Stay tuned!

The fact is they are of good quality, but time will tell if at the end of support (i.e. completion of the entire mod) they will not be replaced by this Voice version.

 

Wait, was there an update already?  Did I miss it?  I've been off Skyrim for a bit but I can try and make more dialogue.

Update coming soon (seven more books), but if your version goes up to mammoths, you have the latest version.

Alright.  I was wondering what was going on.  I think I saw some notes asking me to continue to make voices but as far as I was aware the current version is 0.22 which is the version I've already voiced.

There are 2 quests left to do to release to the public. I hope this will happen soon, because to be honest the creation process has already gone a little over a month.

Wow, I did not realize it's been this long. Tirwin's been hanging around in the Banner Mare for well over a month, celibate? Maybe she needed that after the mammoth. Poor girl's gonna go wild when let loose again. 😉

On my save she's not so lucky, or rather she's still running behind Dragonborn's back :D

I suppose it depends on what we consider lucky?

 

Her acquaintance Naryu Virian has been hanging around in the inn since the beginning of the load... When we walk in I'm surprised she's not slumped over on a barstool or passed out on the floor she's probably had more than her fill of mead by now.

 

I thought about spamming a package to her which would make her idle three-sheets to the wind. 😂 Don't mind me Cosnach is my favorite male follower "I have to remember to swing at the one in the middle!"

Reminds me, I noticed she's in the dark brotherhood faction. Is there a reason for that... like maybe some thought early on about using her latter?

 

I think she is in this faction by accident.

Probably, is amazing how many base game npc's have weird defaults. All the same, she's in thieves guild armor and an assassin faction so I'd been keeping an eye on her... out of the corner of my eye (Night mother's likey pissed off I'd not stopped by in months).

Hi everyone, I have a little bug here... I'm at the wolf quest, I killed the bandits, free the wolf and talk to Tirwin, she said to wait behind the wagon and I did. By the way, there were a strange little black windows "XXX - Ok" but then nothing happened... The actual quest is "Keep an eye on Tirwin", I did but she is just staying in front of the wolf, doing nothing... Any idea what is the problem here please ? :(

All of my SexLab animation with creatures is enabled, I tried the command "setstage VAR_MainQuest 110" to see if the animation works with my PC but nothing, the dialogue starts but not the animation... Can anyone help me please ? :(

I'm just guessing here that you may be missing creature animations? I think the "XXX" alert box is out of SexLab when there's no matching animation for two actors.  Assuming you ran FNIS, Nemesis or Pandora...

 

What SLAL packs do you have loaded? You can double-check how many animations are registered from SLAL just to be sure, and as I recall...

 

Gristle's SL code looks for race...  I was constantly getting animations from one SLAL pack but not another a while back. I remember looking at the json differences between the two packs, one had races "Canines" and "Dogs" the other had just "Canines", i.e. "creature_race": "Canines" I think that was Billyys or something like that? So I edited the json by in additing Dogs race (or was it vice-versa?) for the same set of animation pairs. 

 

The json holds the source data sexlab uses to search for animations. Keywords unreliable but race is pretty tight, most the time.

Hi @eflat01, thanks for the reply ! I ran FNIS and I use SLAL Animation Pack by Leito SE and Billyy's SLAL Animations (2025-1-1), everything is enable. Maybe these packs don't work ? Wich one can I use instead ?

I'm not sure... I do have Billyys, I don't have Leito's,

 

I do have Anub's and that seems to work... now this all comes back to the inconsistencies in race, keywords, etc... in sexlab animation packs. So developers have to nearly code for the pack. 

 

Oh and I found the earlier discussion on this about Dogs (I happened to butt into)... back a few pages - page 15. Now that I'm looking in Anub's json it has "race" :"Wolves" in it I think in conversation Gristle stated he may change to use Canines, or vice-versa?

This code

 

1. places Player and Wolf refs into the array acts,

2. Searches SL animations with RaceKey "Wolves" putting one into anims

3. Starts the sex scene passing the (acts, anims found and the idle marker called WolfSexMarker which the mod placed on the ground) to it.

 

This is why Anub's works.

 

I suppose Gristle could check the return in anims and if nothing 

 

sslBaseAnimation[] anims = SexLab.GetCreatureAnimationsByRaceKey (2,"Canines")

 

and if not  then

 

sslBaseAnimation[] anims = SexLab.GetCreatureAnimationsByRaceKey (2,"Dogs")

 

But  we'd really want all three in the same pool and let sexlab search them out in a single call.

 

I suppose we could all rewrite their json having duplicates for Dogs, Canines and Wolves, but that's less than desirable bloat on sexlab.

 

So, imho the animators/pack creators really should get together and come up with some standard then mod creators would not have to be second guessing.

When do you get this message from XXX? Literally after getting the information to wait behind the wagon?

Yes @killer905, it's literally some seconds after getting the information to wait behind the wagon. I downloaded Anubs anim as @eflat01 suggested me (and Nibbles), I still have the "XXX - OK" message, the animation worked a little but Tirwin just get stuck in the wolf, I have the sound but not the animation 😭
