Are you using DD NG version 0.3.7? Re-read the installation instructions and changelog on the mod page - you don't need the patch anymore. You probably just missed it.

I am getting a crash whenever my (MALE) character equips a handcuff restraint or armbinder. most of the time the self equip is fine however whenever I am equipped by an NPC it 100% crashes. The issue does not happen on a female character. I am unable to use NG 0.3.7.7 because this is on VR (on the previous version 2.9)  and I am getting a library error. Haven't been able to fix that, not sure if the latest version would fix this issue or if something else can. 

 

The crash log is giving a generic (Unhandled exception "EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION" at 0x7FF74F707A53 SkyrimVR.exe+0D47A53). I have run bodyslide and nemesis. I have spent a week looking for a solution to this. So if I am missing a dependency it would be pretty unlikely. Any help would be much appreciated.

 

Ok I found the issue. Faster SMP is crashing the game when equipping the handcuffs for some reason. Maybe a skeleton issue? I am trying to figure out why one gender breaks but not the other. Faster smp seems to be pretty important, I have tried earlier builds to fix this but to no avail. I assume the farther I go back is not the best.

Hi, my armbinder has become invisible, the animation is there, everything is done in the bodyslider, but the object itself, like the hand, is missing from the equipment, that I have encountered such a problem?

When In-game in get an error message say SE patch dll is no longer needed, but if I removethe dlls from vortex i cant start the game withour getting an error message and the save wont load.

Yes, just as it says on the landing page.

As you've never run the game with the patch loaded, go back to the hard save that you've made specifically for installing this mod, and just disable the esp in the Plugins tab in Vortex.

 

If you are one of the few users that actually ran the (older version of the) game with DD SE and just upgraded to DD NG, you can try to hide the esp and give Vortex an empty file with the same name to chew on. (as is described on the landing page)

If that doesn't work, you'll need to start a new game - which is always the best idea after fiddling with DDs.

What .dlls are you removing? You don't need the DD SE patch anymore, from the original DD mod, but that's an .esp file you can disable/remove. I don't know of any .dll files you should be removing. I'm on my 2nd game with DD NG - the first was several hundred hours beginning Jan 2024 until I finally stopped in Dec 2024 - using Devious Devices [SE][AE][VR] 5.2. I never removed a .dll, only removed the 'Devious Devices SE patch.esp'.

 

EDIT: And I see @CaptainJ03 beat me to a reply. Must type (and think) faster!! lol

So its safe to remove "deviouse devices equip.esp" from vortex as long as I have devious devices ng and SE installed?

Uhmm, that is a different mod, you can do as you like. Don't confuse DDe with DDE 😁

Remove "Devious Devices SE patch.esp" from DD 5.2. Keep everything else from 5.2. That patch is not needed with DD NG.

As I see this question come up a lot and it is kinda confusing for less experienced users why dont you guys just make a dummy "Devious Devices SE patch.esp" thats blank and overides the one shipped with DD 5.2?

Then they'll be asking if it's safe to overwrite the one that came with DD 5.2

It's difficult to find a recipe that works for people who don't read the instructions.

yeah its true, fair point.

 

It's all very confusing for new users though right; you'd agree?

 

I compare it to my mum with her new phone trying to use it and it not doing what she thinks it should, it's easy and obvious to us that have been using it for a long time.

 

all these addons to base mods must be a real headscratch when your trying to get involved.

 

DD 5.2 + DDNG resolve conflicts, disable patch, sexlab v 1.6x depending on game version plus SLPPlus animation pack plus the anim addon patch and then fnis/nemesis/pandora one version of aroused from the 69 different versions.

 

Sorry I'm rambling but it just seems that there are too many options for the same thing rather than fixing a standard and spending time making content for that rather than modders drawing the same circle with a different pencil.

Does the NG framework require best races patch to work on non-human, non-elf races like orcs?

 

Ever since I installed it, gags and masks won't show up on female orcs at all. And I mean all of them - ball, ring, panel, pony, simple, restrictive, whatever. The mouth open/drool animation is there but the mesh is missing. I had this working fine in the old 5.2 version without beast race and Him patches, and when I switched over I chose not to use beast race and him patches because I didn't need them before.

 

Before you ask, yes I have built the new devices in BS.

Same here, is why I came here looking. Thought I built in bodyslide as needed, but it's invisible in-game.

Hit the nail on the head. I'm actually pretty well versed in a lot of technology compared to some (usually the one who ends up helping my parents with stuff for example), even have some programming experience and experience making mods (albeit not mods in this particular game) and I find all the layered dependencies to be confusing and overwhelming, even with the help of Vortex. I don't want to sound ungrateful. I know people do it volunteer and I appreciate how much enjoyment it adds to the game. I also think some of the blame lands squarely on Bethesda's shoulders for splintering changes like SE and AE. But that said, sometimes getting it all to work feels more like work than play. I in fact just today noticed what I'm pretty sure was a reading comprehension mishap on my part from installing some stuff yesterday, which was seeing requirements "Nemesis / FNIS / Pandora" as meaning "download and install all of them." Only later did I realize that wouldn't make sense and it presumably means use one of them.

 

There's often a bit of a communication gap between those who are immersed in the jargon and those who aren't, and I've seen it from both ends; being the confused one and being the one who is forgetting how much others don't know. Sometimes it's hard to reconcile the two, especially without a professional team to write documentation for a user. Even paid companies sometimes don't even try and it falls on volunteers again. Like the game Guild Wars 2 comes to mind; a large amount of understanding that game falls on the wiki website, which afaik is mostly volunteer player work. None of this is meant as a criticism really, just that it is a real problem.

I'm having a collar issue. Going through the public whore quest and I'm supposed to have a collar attacked except the two collars that were supposed to be used are not showing up and keep getting in trouble for not wearing a collar

no, just run FNIS and continue. If you're crazy, you ran even play with everybody moving like a display puppet, but I wouldn't recommend that.

In five-ish years with DDs I've never heard any NPC use gagtalk. The only time it's relevant is when you're both gagged - you just cannot communicate.

You only need the assets from the beast races patch from 5.2, all the records from the BRRF esp were merged into the main ESM's in NG.

Same is for the For Him add-on.

 

So the proper procedure would be to install 5.2 with the BRRF/FH option active, install NG on top and don't forget to pick the BRRF option in the fomod (all it does is install the "dummy" empty esp with the same name so the old one doesn't overwrite & revert anything important).  🙂

Because its impossible (to my knowledge) to replace dialogue tracks on existing dialogues. There would need to be some need mod like Dialogue Sound Replacer which would replace them on runtime.

That might be actually the best solution. We already did same thing to For Him and BRRF patches on indev version on discord, and didn't hear any complaints about it in some time

Because there is different mesh for each gender. It would seem there is some issue with male variant of the cuffs which is not in the female variant. @Predator-RJ Can you please check the smp config for male cuffs ? You are most experienced when it comms to the smp, and I remember you did update to existing female cuffs.
