HennyBill Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 How old are these Elins? Like um.. would it be a crime for them to have.. sex? .-. Well, the good news is no, it's not a crime as they're just two dimensional images appearing on your computer screen. The bad news is that some areas have indeed criminalized the images that appear on your computer screen. The good news is that there's much, much worse out there that your respective government is after. The bad news is they're just two dimensional images on your computer screen.
sparkwing Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 I just installed the Elin NPC replacer mod, however the NPCs are showing up with brown heads and white skin. Is this normal or a bug?
Escarlia Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 Stay with the old files if they are working for you. The new files are more of an appearance upgrade. The new Elin body pack contains BBP and TBBP skeletons and animations and that is why NMM is asking to overwrite some files. The Elins do not really need them, but without these skeletons, you can not use BBP or TBBP armors (equipping will cause CTD). You are having problems with the xpms skeletons from the latest pack. The skeletons from the old files are customized vanilla skeletons. I think your crashing is the result of some conflict between my custom xpms skeletons and xpms 1.9. I plan on updating the skeletons to v1.9 first for the LiL Monlis then for the Elins. Maybe this will fix the crashing, if conflicting versions of xpms skeletons are the cause. In addition, just letting you know, don't install BBP or TBBP assets for the Elins if the non-Elin npcs are not using those or not matching what you installed. In other words, what body and skeleton you install for non-Elin npcs, you must match when installing the Elin body and skeletons for the Elins (non-BBP with non-BBP, BBP with BBP, TBBP with TBBP). Thank you for your quick reply & sorry for my late response Old versions have minor glitches like squarish breasts(when I put high values on the breast scale - occurs with CBBE bodies only) or twisted feet(when Elins are dead - occurs with most bodies except one in CBBE slim-flat starter pack), but It's far better than constant CTDs, and I've done everything I can think of as a non-modder resulting in nothing, so I have no choice but to follow your advice. If you have any tips to wipe out or minimize glitches above, please let me know. If not, I can manage it through simply using CBBE slim-flat starter pack with average breast scale, waiting for further skeleton updates which may solve all my problems, so it's totally OK. It's somewhat relieving, though. At least there's a hope. I'll keep on following your excellent works. Long life to you, PsychoMachina!
PsychoMachina Posted October 26, 2013 Author Posted October 26, 2013 I just installed the Elin NPC replacer mod, however the NPCs are showing up with brown heads and white skin. Is this normal or a bug? Hello Sparkwing The Elin NPC and Enemy mod contains a second ElinRaceTaint.esm which is somewhat of a patch. This one is different than the one that installs with the main pack. Reinstalling the NPC and Enemy mod and making sure the patch replaces the original ElinRaceTaint.esm or else the Elin npcs will get the dark head bug and the default (ponytail) hair. Should the updated Elin skeletons not fix the CTD then something else you have installed is causing it or the cause is from some installation error. Sometimes the answer is not so clear.

Escarlia Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 Umm... I encountered a similar problem but can't fix it with the same method. I overwrote ElinraceTaint.esm and most things are working fine - mage followers, newNPCs are just awesome, but when it goes with replaced NPCs like Adara, Babette, Elisif etc, their dark faces keep bothering me. I even unchecked all my mods except Elin mods but nothing changed. I tried rolling some of my 'elinized' NPCs back to original race using ElinRace_NPC_Editor. It worked and fixed the dark head problem immediately, however, there's no point doing that, isn't it? Replaced NPCs still have various, different hairs. Darker head which cause annoying neck seam is the only thing that matters. Maybe my old version of NER_CBBE doesn't match your new replacer? I read some Japanese threads finding out some people fixed the problem by downgrading ElinraceNPC mod from 4.2 to 4.0, But I can't find an old, English version so if you have any, or have any other suggestions, it would be very kind of you to give me one. Always appreciate your work and kindness, PsychoMachina.
PsychoMachina Posted October 26, 2013 Author Posted October 26, 2013 What hair do they have? If they have the ponytail instead of one of the other Elin hairs from ElinRaceTaint then the patch is not taking effect for them. Nvm, you said they have different hairs other than the ponytails. Are you using NMM or Mod Organizer? EDIT I'll look at my old files for v4.0
PsychoMachina Posted October 26, 2013 Author Posted October 26, 2013 The earliest version I have is v3 then it jumps to v4.1 so far I have not found v4.0. Give these a try, but don't forget to completely uninstall the current Elin NPC and Enemy mod first. Version 3 ElinNPC_Enemy_v3.7z Version 4.1 ElinNPC_Enemy-V4-1.7z EDIT The reason I asked what mod manager you are using is because with MO, you can move the Elin NPC mod lower on the list of installed mods thus giving it higher priority. This will ensure that the patch overrides the original ElinRaceTaint.esm.
Escarlia Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 To PsychoMachina. OMG, I found it! It was DW(Decent Women) mod I installed shortly after my latest reinstallation of Skyrim, which contains only two esp files while there're 4 archives in total. Thanks to NMM I could wipe out DW children / DW commoner mod and now it works perfectly! I decided to reinstall DW commoner, however, because without it other race NPCs such as Ysolda become dull-faced so it seems better to let go of Elin Elisif, just changing goblin-like kids into Elin cuties. My apologies for taking your time. I really appreciate your kindness and files, though. May God bless you with all the happiness!
Camila Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 Psycho, do you happen to have by any chance an UNP Fair-Skin with Bikini Sunburn? Tia.
PsychoMachina Posted October 26, 2013 Author Posted October 26, 2013 @Camila I have for CBBE, but not sure about UNP. I'll look around. @Escarlia So another mod was conflicting with Elin NPC. I would not have known anyway because I don't have that one.
Camila Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 Alright, thank you. In case you don't; you could point me to the tools and i would try to make it myself if it's not that hard.
remiw0lf Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 Hi Psycho, So I'm generally pretty good with mods, googling for errors, and overall with debugging but this mod... I just don't know what I'm doing wrong here. I have a clean skyrim install - no other mods installed - and follow your instructions to the letter. It just doesn't seem to work. The issue for me is that I can get skyrim to load and everything, but when I start a game my character is stuck in default position (arms slightly raised and to the sides with legs slightly spread apart, sort of like a manequinn) and it won't move. It's basically like the animations aren't working (Yes I've followed your instructions on FNIS and all that stuff too) So after like my 5th reinstall, I tried installing just the step 1 mods. Once I did that, I was able to narrow down the "issue" to that step. I will load the save normally with no issue but my default character (skyrim native) will also be in this "locked" position with her arms at her sides and legs slightly spread. That being said, I was wondering if you've personally checked the standalone mod versions and rechecked for compatibility issues that may have arisen in newer updates. I just want to play my freaking elins, man ; _ ; Why must life be so difficult. And actually, I just came up with this idea but I'll see if I can do more debugging by creating a new game as opposed to using the showracemenu and changing myself to an elin mid-game. I'll post here again if I find anything new. (Of course, unless using showracemenu is known to break games in which case I'd appreciate it if you could tell me and I'll proceed to headdesk for an hour or two)
PsychoMachina Posted October 27, 2013 Author Posted October 27, 2013 Hello Remiw0lf Changing races, especially when trying a custom race, mid-game will cause you to run into problems. The obvious are stats and perks resetting. Changing races near the beginning would not pose a problem unless you have mods that works with the previous race, but not the new one. The tendency would then to think something is wrong with the new race. Also reusing saves can introduce unwanted problems. The files from the Elin mods that requires FNIS would be the TBBP animations from the New Elin Body pack and the Elin Idle animations and Elin Bard from the options pack. I suggest, if not already done, to only install the main pack. It has a default body and textures and does not need FNIS. Check that your Elin is not stuck in a t-pose and if all is working, proceed to installing the CBBE or UNP body and texture options. Don't forget that the body replacer pack contains BBP and TBBP files so you will need to run FNIS. Play the game for awhile to rule out any additional problems before installing the other Elin mods. Good luck.
remiw0lf Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 I'd started a clean save on skyrim and I was (quite literally) only a few minutes in when I rememebered about the elin mod but I'll start a clean save after installing anyway. And I'd been trying to also install the NPCs and bard packs as well so I did need the FNIS, but I'll try this next reinstall with just the main elin pack. If I can confirm this to be working (with a clean start) should I restart with a new save again after trying to put the other mods in again? (I really want those NPC elins =^=b ) edit: I do need to install the Racial Compatibility v1-7 that the ElinRace v1.3c's description tells me to install, right? http://puu.sh/50AAl.png
PsychoMachina Posted October 27, 2013 Author Posted October 27, 2013 Updated the original post. The installation instructions have been edited to include any new files and file names. @Remiw0lf Don't reuse a save. When starting over, create new saves and play up to the part where you reach Riverwood. If all goes well, go ahead and install the Elin NPC and Enemy mods. Don't install any Elin followers yet. Make sure each new files you install is working for you before move on to the next. Keep in mind that the Elin NPC and Enemy mod contains an edited ElinRaceTaint master file. Elin Race Taint adds the Tera Elin hairs/ears/tails sets. The edited master file is only needed for the Elin NPCs. Make sure the edited master file overwrites or overrides (depending on whether you use NMM or Mod Organizer) the original Elin Race Taint master file to avoid the Elin NPCs having the dark face bug and default hair.
PsychoMachina Posted October 27, 2013 Author Posted October 27, 2013 edit: I do need to install the Racial Compatibility v1-7 that the ElinRace v1.3c's description tells me to install, right? http://puu.sh/50AAl.png Yes, you definitely need the Racial Compatiblity files and the Racial Compatibility Patch for USKP (only if you have USKP). I have made those files an option during installation. Choose "NONE" if you want to use Race Compatiblity by TMPhoenix. EDIT Regarding the load order, it is best to group the plugins and keep the Elin custom BBP body plugin at the bottom of that group. If you are using the (nude) default body from the main pack then make sure the Elin new body plugin is at the bottom of the group.
sparkwing Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 By the way, Psycho, the ElinRaceTaint file from the Elin NPC and Follower mod apparently changes the player's body to nude, even if I chose the non-nude option during installation. I tried reverting it to the original ElinRaceTaint from the main pack and it changed back to non-nude.
PsychoMachina Posted October 27, 2013 Author Posted October 27, 2013 @Camila I have some new tan body textures for both CBBE and UNP. The non-tan areas are lighter, but exactly like Fair-skin. @Sparkwing ElinRaceTaint only adds hairs. When installing the main pack, the non-nude Tera body is the default choice so even if you don't choose one, the non-nude will still be installed. I'm guessing your reverted back to the original ElinRaceTaint.esm by reinstalling the main pack. If that is the case, you did not choose the nude option again and the non-nude body was installed.
Camila Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 Oh cool! Just poke us when it's ready for download =)

I reverted the ElinRaceTaint file manually, so the non-nude version was still selected. Anyway, I think I found out the problem. I checked the edits of both ElinRaceTaint files using TES5Edit and it seems that the ElinRaceTaint patch in the Elin NPC and Follower mod is missing some edits from the original file. These edits seem to be pointing to the "2chElin" folder instead of the "2chElin fix" folder. I tried replacing the meshes in "2chElin fix" with the meshes in "2chElin" and it changed back to non-nude.
PsychoMachina Posted October 28, 2013 Author Posted October 28, 2013 Nice find, sparkwing. I was looking at the patch which does not have the Armo formlist all the while thinking it was the original. I think I need to just walk away from everything for awhile to clear out my head. Anyway, looks like there will be v1.4 update after I sort out the mess. @Camila If you don't mind waiting, I'll include the new textures with the 1.4 update along with the new skeletons. May as well get all of these done and upload one major update.
Camila Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 No problem hunnie, take your time <3 And thanks alot for all the work you've done!
remiw0lf Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Alright, so I've been having a swell time with the mod and decided that I wanted to try installing the bards as well. The problem is that when I try to generate behavior files via FNIS, I get this error, but FNIS is definitely up to date so the "OLD FNIS version" thing is probably... idk, wrong. Reading ElinRaceIdle ... Reading ElinViolinist ...ERROR(2011): OLD FNIS version? Wrong line in Animation List, line 2 (..\..\meshes\actors\character\animations\ElinViolinist\FNIS_ElinViolinist_List.txt): + -a,k IdleStop_Loose
