jxm Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 He's talking about polish tv shows, but to be precise, the series was first introduced as a full-length movie in theaters and I was unlucky enough to attend one with my class to watch it (this time we had to pay for no lessons with our sane minds). Man, it sucked ass like a vacuum cleaner: the acting, the actors, the fucking cgi... Then they added some scenes and split it into the TV show, which overall was slightly better as the timeline made MUCH more sense. WHAT'S BEEN SEEN CANNOT BE UNSEEN! Hmmm, I know that this series exists but gladly I haven't seen it! And even though its probably terrible, at least you polish try to make something like that for TV or cinema. Your poor old german friends (*cough*) would never manage even that... However, I still think that the Witcher-Universe would be great for an american Network like AMC (the walking dead) or HBO (Rome, Game of Thrones) to pick up. Not at the same scale as Game of Thrones, but maybe a bunch of TV-Special/2 hour movies would be doable. It has everything TV-Managers and viewers alike nowadays are looking for: Violence, dark stories, grey characters, lots of sex and nudity, and a medieval setting with swords and stuff. Throw in some CGI-Monsters and magic, you are good to go. Not likely to happen though, sadly...Yet maybe Witcher 3 is such a massive hit across the world....hmm...
DatBoy Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Platige Image is the answer! They made all intros, outros (except one for TW2) and some trailers for The Witcher series. I would gladly see The Witcher movie or TV series made by them, as animation has almost no restrictions if compared to live action show (for example only animation can show Witcher's godlike speed). And please, no HBO. Very bad official translation in polish TV and possibly too much sex or pointless gore. Example of polish HBO translation, Dark Knight by Christopher Nolan, when Batman captures Scarecrow and police officers in disguise. One asks what makes Batman so special. He answers, no hockey pads or something like that. In polish version? Better toys. All magic is gone.
jxm Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 And please, no HBO. Very bad official translation in polish TV and possibly too much sex or pointless gore. But...you DID play the Witcher games, did you? I mean...gore and sex and Witcher are going hand in hand, just, sayin'. But yeah, maybe an animated movie would be good. Though I suppose a feature-length movie of THAT quality would be quite expensive to pull off. Not to speak about a series with multiple episodes. And it really HAS to be good, because bad CGI-Movies are just "bleagh"...How much budget did that dreadfully boring Final Fantasy One movie had? Anyway, won't happen, not if Witcher 3 becomes a massive hit with multi-million copies sold world wide...we rather see a Witcher-MMORPG (shudder) than Geralt conquering the big screen or TV (well, conquering it with quality...) But that is life. Just like we'll get a Warcraft Movie soon, but the much better Warhammer-Universe Blizzard ripped-off won't ever be put to the big screen for sure. Life's just unfair and a mean bitch!
Koko.Hekmatyar Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 I doubt TW3 will even have Ciri as a physical character, if anything she will just be referenced like Yennefer was during the other two games.
ElectricSheep Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 Hmmm, I know that this series exists but gladly I haven't seen it! And even though its probably terrible, at least you polish try to make something like that for TV or cinema. Your poor old german friends (*cough*) would never manage even that... Polish cinematography is reduced to romantic comedies, suicide provoking dramas, and retarded gangsta movies since 70's. I cannot think of a single good modern-day polish movie aside from some good foreign-language movies made by polish directors like Roman Polański, but that doesn't count. TW movie/series was just a poor attempt to cash on the popularity of the franchise, which was large long before the first game came out. Meanwhile, our German friends made one of the best war movies - Stalingrad.

TW movie/series was just a poor attempt to cash on the popularity of the franchise, which was large long before the first game came out. Meanwhile, our German friends made one of the best war movies - Stalingrad. Well, yeah...that's true, I have to admit. And yes, Germany always had a strong cinematic history since the days of silent movies. Sadly we too often think that all we can do has to be "relevant", political and temporary. I wish we would use more often our rather strong ifrastructure to make own german(european) ideas, and not only help Hollywood making their movies cheaper (like inglorious Basterds, Valkyrie, Hansel & Gretel (Awesome movie realised almost fully in germany...yet still not a german production) But your post made me actually thinking...that something like a Witcher Series or feature Film could be made in Europe with ease...the know-how is easily there, all it would need is money and, connected to that, guts and courage to dare making it. And we germans are especially lacking the latter when it comes to movies...
jxm Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Witcher 1 + 2: play them for free this weekend + 80% off (so less than 5 €)...Steam and it seems Gog as well... If you always wanted to play Geralts adventures but didn't dare or didn't want to spend too much money on it...now is the time to have a closer look and experience why the games are so hyped lately. Really, you can't go too wrong if you are at least a bit into RPGs. The first is maybe a bit clunky to play, but still looks good and has a huge story to tell. The second is simply amazing....and Witcher 3 just around the corner ^^
sora3 Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 I think I've finished both Witchers more than Skyrim which says a lot given the depth in this game. However, I wonder how this might happen... I'm interested to see how the Nilfaangard invasion will have an impact on the kingdoms. ATM, my save games all had Gerald being a dick and minding his own business. But I do have one save where he's more of a patriot, defending Boussey.
windpl Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 Well, fuck. Release moved to 2015. I wonder if they move cyberpunk too.
ChancellorKremlin Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 What, really? Awhhh... I was looking forward to my "Game of the year" this year. Damn. I suppose, that's a good sign though. If they're moving it, they probably think they need more time to finish it, and IMO that's always a good thing. We keep saying "Oh, they should just take their time with things and release when ready..." well, still hurts though

I bet that dragon age will also have its release date moved.
Veta Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Well it was going to be late 2014 probably Christmas , so it wont make a big difference for 2 more months , at the very least we now have a release date of Februray rather than nothing
jxm Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 I'll try to see the positive sides (yeah, I told myself to be more optimistic in 2014): Later release - more time to fix things and make sure that Witcher 3 has less bugs (and well, thinking about Witcher 1...) Also Pillars of Eternity is supposed to be released (hopefully) towards the end of 2014, so I have not to choose between both games And i am soon getting a new comp...which has not much to do with the release date, but nevertheless Witcher 3 will surely work well pretty good on my new machine, which makes me Pharrell-Williams-Happy ...

They would rather release a half done game then give the studio more time to finish it.

Well, ok, I know, it is not the same guys who are involved... thank God ! Personally, I'm waiting for Divinity : Original Sin and I really hope I'm not waiting for nuthin ! Belgians got genius, hope this will be the case. EDIT - And the most important thing to me is THIS : '[...]all games on the Larian Vault are DRM free. That means you can make as many legal copies as you want, and don't have to worry about having to be online to play your games. We trust you understand that piracy is theft, and that spreading illegitimate copies of our games affects our studio's future.' Honesty, freedom... all the things I like in being human.

They would rather release a half done game then give the studio more time to finish it. But I've got to think twice Before I give my heart away And I know all the games you play Because I play them too 'Cause I gotta have faith... Ahem...my foolish non-cynical part still believes that EA won't take a risk though for a second (or, well, third if you coun't the negative backlash from DA2 as well) after the whole Mass Effect Disaster. Thre is only so much negative publicity even a profit-orientatted company can bear...but then EA is quite used to it ... ah well, I just cross my fingers DA Inquisition will be at least on par with Origins ... but after Witcher 3 and DAI are released I am already waiting for the "Battle of the internet" that will ensue afterwards, when fanboys and girls will argue for months which game and comapny is the better one...already practicing my arguments and taking some notes
...0... Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 Well, fuck. Release moved to 2015. I wonder if they move cyberpunk too. Seems good thing i hope they perfect it even more mostly for PC(don't care about consoles(mantle pls)). For games like The Witcher 3 i'll wait gladly so they make it even more perfect. I hope it will stop me from playing Syrim. I.ll buy it on GOG.COM btw 100% DRM free.
dje34 Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 I.ll buy it on GOG.COM btw 100% DRM free. Now that is something I like ! All their games are DRM free ? EDIT - Went to the FAQ and it looks like they all are ! I already love this site !
Veta Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 I.ll buy it on GOG.COM btw 100% DRM free. Now that is something I like ! All their games are DRM free ? Yes all of them .

Couldn't agree more on this, I'd wait for a few more months to have a more polished game rather than post release patches to fix things that shouldn't have existed in the first place, pushing deadlines to developers is one of the reasons why there are so many fucked up games in recent years, including big titles. I have absolute faith in CD project they will deliver what they have promised us, those guys never disappoint. I just hope my overclocked 4670k+gtx770 4gb can handle the game decently at 1080p when it's released, but given the amazing graphics they presented us in the game play trailer I wouldn't get my hopes up.
windpl Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 Side note: The Platige Image (guys that made cinematic for wither series) are planing to make full wither movie. What, really? Awhhh... jxm Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 THis game ... I want it NOW! I am sure CD Projekt RED doesn't need my best wishes for success, as this must become a worldwide hit no matter what, but I still give those wishes anyway! It looks gorgeous and intriguing already... And Novigrad feels so alive ... sorry Bethesda, I still love you pals, but THIS is how your next Elder Scrolls must feel and breathe like, no more "cities" of ten houses and fifteen NPCs... Yet what really amazed me once more is that soundtrack. The battle-music, I just wanted to take control of Geralt and get it on with those monsters!
SquallPT Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 oooo the hours i am going to spend with this one I am going to do a rerun of witcher and witcher 2 to keep a save for this one.
