Something is wrong, and I don't know enough about MO to really be of any help. I presume that something MO is doing or not doing is creating this mess.

Ok, I just manually installed the bondage and Zaz folders from Zaz animation pack's texture folder and it fixed the issue (I'm not sure if both were needed). I guess something is happening with MO for some reason. Nice to find a workaround. Thanks for the help.

The textures\zaz folder seems to be referenced by a lot of the texturesets, so it seems to be very much needed.

Yes, it seems the textures/zaz  folder does seem to be the one that I need to manually install to fix the missing/purple textures. (The textures/bondage folder doesn't seem to be the issue.) My guess is the reason MO is having an issue getting some of the textures loaded in-game from textures/zaz is that the file path might be too long where I have it (?)  eg.  D:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim\ModOrganizer\mods\ZazAnimationPackV7.0[2017-05-16]\Textures\ZaZ\001Metal

I've had problems with folders being buried too deep for MO to pull into its file structure in the past.  I posted a bug report on it a few years back, I am not sure if it was addressed since then.

I always put steam directly under the drive path for this reason.

I tried shortening the file path a bit by taking the date out of "ZazAnimationPackV7.0[2017-05-16]" but it didn't help.  eg.  D:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim\ModOrganizer\mods\ZazAnimationPackV7.0\Textures\ZaZ\001Metal

Now that I think of it Zaz AP v6-11 had a shorter name and that also was missing textures for me. Well, at least I can manually install the textures/zaz folder and it works.

Well one of the problems might be that you have MO in your skyrim folder.

it creates a really deep structure for mod organizer. It's not the path name length that was the problem for me.. but how deeply the folders went.

If you put MO on the top level in the directory, you may alleviate a lot of these problems.

D:\ModOrganizer\mods\ZazAnimationPackV7.0\Textures\ZaZ\001Metal  Is a lot shorter.

You can test the texture location by temporarily moving the file to :

D:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim\data\Textures\ZaZ\001Metal

if it shows up that way.. then the problem is with the structure.

ETA:  it's better to fix this now than to run into more problems later when script files dont show up, etc.. because they are just buried too deep for MO

Unless you're running MO and Skyrim from a drive that is formatted FAT instead of NTFS I think you're barking up the wrong tree.

I have MO under the Skyrim folder AND have the Skyrim folder in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Skyrim\ and I also make sure mods from the Nexus have the ID and version number in their filenames in MO and I am having none of these "too large directory path" problems.

You probably installed something wrong and that's all. As a rule with MO when installing mods without a FOMOD installer I always check the MANUAL INSTALL option in MO and make sure the correct folder is marked as the Data folder because MO can be so easily confused and if you get the wrong folder as the DATA folder then you don't get things installed right.

You might be right.  I had this problem years ago, and I just developed these structure habits based off that.   Things could be very different now.

I have been installing all mods in MO with the "manual" option, selecting the Data folder. I tried re-installing it several times and checked the file structure. I might have missed something but I have my doubts. I also agree that the length of the file path is likely not the issue. The drive I'm running the game from is formatted as NTFS.

Here is an image of the file structure https://i.imgur.com/WBIETRI.jpg and next level in:

I think this shows it's installed correctly in MO. But without textures/Zaz folder manually installed into my game folder several textures are missing/purple: https://i.imgur.com/iYwp5DB.jpg

Manually installing (not in MO) Zaz AP's textures/Zaz folder resolved it. I think this is the same as "test the texture location by temporarily moving the file to :

D:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim\data\Textures\ZaZ\001Metal  "

Which download file(s) did you install, there are TWO files both of which must be installed for the 6.11 version and a single file for the 7.0 version.

What mod is that in your images? I'd like to check and make sure it's not something in that mod.

I just dump all my mod installs into a folder directly off c:\  and then point MO's Settings for the Mod Directory at that.

My MO set up has every ZAP since v0605 still in the LH Pane, so it's always easy just to tick an old version to see what later ones overwrote, or leave them active in older game profiles.  For example, in my latest game profile, ZAP v7 Release is ticked as active - I used it to start with - but I can see that after adding and activating T.ara's updated file, that completely overwrites the original v7 as it is now has a greyed out lightning flag.  Doesn't show original files not changed, but shows nothing 'left behind' in the game from the prior version

---------

This way, for the version of ZAP I'm using in my latest profile, the file you're looking at is here

C:\ZZ MO Mods SKYRIM\SxLab ZazAnimationPack v7.0 Release Version + TARA offsets v2.0\textures\ZaZ\001Metal

---------

MO itself sits in Program Files (x86)

C:\Program Files (x86)\Skyrim ModOrganiser\ModOrganizer

Even with one unnecessary folder in the structure, there are no filename length probs, even with fairly long Profile names

--------

If you have MO and Mods buried in the Steam directory, the file name length might well get too long :shy:

EDIT

BTW, if you right click on the Zaz mod in the LH Pane, Select 'Information' and then the 'Filetree' Tab, does it show the folders....

       textures >ZaZ > 001Metal > filename you want

...nesting properly there?

If not, your installation is probably squiff, and you may just be best to remove the mod completely and then reinstall it as Waxenfigure suggests above.  'Manual' is the way to go, unless it is a well established mod with a reliable FOMOD :)

DonkeyWho:  I have been installing all mods in MO with the "manual" option, selecting the Data folder. I've tried both Zaz v6-11 with it's main file and patch file, as well as Zaz v7-0 with the same results from what I could tell. I'm not sure which version the screenshot previously included was from. Here are two screenshots of the missing textures with my MO installation of Zaz v7-0:

We seem to be assuming that it is the texture file that is the problem.  It just may be fine

Which 'items' in the test zone are those which show the problem, ie have missing textures?  Have you tried adding those to your inventory and placing them in world somewhere else?

Do you still have missing textures or not?  If they are missing, it's probably the asset that's squiff

EDIT ie use the console to add them to your inventory, or place in game in another cell

I have been having a problem with Zaz assets like pillories and pretty much al lthe structures your character can be put on not appearing in game when the animations start. Anyone know how to fix this?

Yes!

Assuming it's the same issue, there's a a fix file that's been uploaded a few times in the last couple of months

Look up-thread

Well, I started a new game and all the textures are working. I saw several times some weren't working without the textures/Zaz folder being manually installed into my game folder. But it's working now.  I don't get why an old save would do that but anyway.

Thank you for trying to help.  ^ _ ^ /

In the past, the new upgrade of fins (6.2/3) for modders (fnis-generator) wrote out a behavior file for zap, that was not compatible for other quest-mods, that use the  "animated furnitures", which are spawning the furnitures like gibbets, crosses and chains and pillory, (that pillory never worked because it´s address has been wrong-or otherwise had it´s empty folder)...so with 7.0 there has been the change to set prefixes to the animations of this mod, which made the animated furnitures again available to be played, because the behavior-file could be written again like in the past for the described furniture-animations.

So far I saw, have this flags sadly not only been set to this sort of furnitures: instead they got it´s place before nearly every animation. The effect is, that some animations have been screwed, stuff that simply did not need to be changed.

In the past I wanted exactly to check out my "ex 6.22.22" version to be working 100% before releasing it with the new fins 6.2/3 behavior-file. Now, after some month, some players do find errors in 7.0, that have not been shown up in 6.11?!

This meant that 7.0 is not exactly working. And yes: this step needs it´s time to work properly.

My tip:

For modders who want to check out more exactly what is going on, try to create a behavior-file, that has only the described sort of animations flagged. Then check out again your "dog-style stuff" (then it should be working same way like it did in v. 6.11).

thanks for this important info !!!!!

The doggy style anims still don't work properly.

Downgrade to zaz animation v 6.11, that makes it work again.

I installed sexlab tools to identify the animation that doesnt work and its ZapDoggy01. Also when it tries to run ZapDoggy01 none of the other animations are available in sexlab tools. also despite best effort to disable and remove animation and reset sexlab registered animations it is still there and comes up sometimes. i think theres a second doggy style animation that has problems but this one the characters just stand there and if you advance to stage 2 in tools they start animation but are some distance apart. It would be good if one of the modders could fix this thanks.

also I notice in zap 7.0 that the animations cannot be individually enabled or disabled in MCM. would be great if we could do that as i would just disable that animation before registering animations. Surely this would be an easy fix for a modder.

Posted

Surely one of the mod authors that upgraded ZAP 6.11 to ZAP 7.0 could fix this error easily and just release a patch, i have no idea how to create a behaviour file and do what is required. its not like I or any of the other players that are currently using ZAP 7.0 are asking for much as this should be a quick fix.

The other annoying thing is that despite trying to disable and remove the ZapDoggy01 animation in sexlab tools and rerunning sexlab animation registry, the broken animation wont go away.

Posted

yes, but it is really no quick fix-because it has to be tested...and it has to be tested with different mods...I´ll release a modded zap7.0 soon and I can "switch" off that sorts animations to become like in 6.11 again. This has to be checked out.

Hi. For some reason the zaz Collar Iron Black and the zaz Cuffs Iron Black always end up on the ground when equipped. Any idea what's causing it?

huh??....skeleton - issure?-bone issure?...mismatch between other stuff and zap?...

Hello, any ideas as to why this version doesn't register SexLab animations? That's on a fresh install and new game 100%, I literally finished setting it up just now.

I press "Register" as I've always done and for some reason it doesn't take. Same for Estrus Chaurus+ incidentally. Every other mod works and every other option in EC+ and Zaz seems to work fine.
