Sorry if this has been asked and answered already, but is there any plans for the UD Escape mechanics to get applied to DD Contraptions?

I like the Devious furniture, but... Like with Devious Devices, the escape mechanics out of the box is just pure RNG, which is boring.

That's an item from the current DD beta. you can find the betas on the DD development thread, and/or there's a link on this mod's front page.

I'm running UD 2.0b14 with DD 5.2b6 and Deviously Enchanted Chests SE 3.11.

I've hit a problem where after I've struggled out of one device, any attempts to play a minigame result in the message "Slow down!". I've tried several fixes, including the UD general fixes, waiting, sleeping, and saving/loading, Nothing seems to get me out of this state, so I end up having to use the Debug menu to unlock my devices.

Any advice? I don't understand what the "Slow down!" message means or what I've done to trigger it.

EDIT: I have a little more information about the problem:

The issue seems to trigger when I reach the end of a minigame without removing the item.
The issue only occurs on that item. I can still try to remove other items without triggering the "Slow down!" message.
There is a message in the console that says "minigame(Black Leather Pony Boots(Padma)) - Minigame parallel thread timeout!"

Found a little piece of hardcore cheese: I can access inventory while in minigame (struggling, unlocking, etc.) probably in any minigame.

This message show up if the previous minigame didn't end yet. I think there was actually bug b14 with this. You can for now try to install last version. It should update without problem from b14. If it doesn't work, then you will have to directly edit the save file to change some variables which are indicating that the minigame is over.

How ? Can you do it all time, or is there some special procedure?

EDIT: Nwm, this is bug. Menus should not be accessible during minigame.

oh ye I forgor. There's also no exhaustion after unlocking with a key minigame. Successful or not.

I believe it's by design, i.e. using specially made tools, which are keys, does not exhausts user.

By that logic using lockpicks shouldn't exhaust, but it does. So may be by design idk, but my understanding is if there's a minigame involved it means you are making an effort to do the thing you do.

Using lockpicks much harder than simply inserting and turning key, I believe, and thus no exhaust was assigned to key use to reflect it. So you just spend only some stamina on it.

I guess I should of said that I had handcuffs or yokes in mind, I have hinged handcuffs and believe me it's hard to insert a key when the keyhole faced away from hands. So it depends.

But still in game you get exhaustion even from trying to get the unlocked gag off, which is even easier than with a lock. But if lock is involved you get no exhaustion, which doesn't make sense.

Well, in the game we even have rope devices, which are essentially rope, yet they are devices, with locks! So I guess UD has it as it should be.

Forgive me if I'm confused, but I noticed that the mod description states that the DD patch fixes 100% of DD devices, but while playing I noticed that none of the devices I got from Deviously enchanted chests had been patched, and further checks through other devices confirmed that most were not patched (for example, the standard red leather armbinder from DDe and the steel padded belt from DDi). Attempts to open the struggle menu with these items equipped just gives the log message "Can't set lastOpenedDevice".

Is this just a typo in the description, or have I done something wrong with my installation?

I'm on SE with the 2.0 version of UD, 5.2 Beta 7 version of DD (with appropriate UD-DD patch).

I really enjoy the struggle system of this mod (this is is a brand new playthrough to make sure it runs well), but constantly getting incompatible devices does take some of the fun out of it...

For now I'm going to work on my other mod. I will only fix the bugs/issues. Maybe add some simple improvements but I will not work on some major changes for now.

There is certainly issue with you installation. This is not how it should behave. Send me your mod list (ordered) and I will help you. Also take look in to Debug menu in MCM and check if device is present.

Nice mod, tho there are many problem with how it interact with all other mods... or maybe I added too much mods.

Also I hope there would be some patch for Devious Devices - Equip's Mech Suit.

Checking the debug panel, I can't see the device there. All slots just say "Empty"

I'm curious how it is possible that you have over 500 mods installed. Do you have some mod that expend a maximum number of mods that I'm not aware of?

There is not currently patch for Devious Devices - Equip, so that might be why. I still didn't figure out if devices can be patched without breaking DDe.

I'm always skirting right around the edge of how many can fit, but with plenty of esl or esl-flagged plugins it's possible. My main tool is probably some old tutorial about how to find out which esp files can be esl-ified safely via xEdit, as well as the occasional modmerge.

Hmm, I don't currently have DD Equip installed, to my knowledge anyway Although with how disordered my game is I'd never notice it if it was installed and malfunctioning somehow.

Found the source of the problem. It certailny is caused by DD baka keywords.esp. You can either disable the mod or place it before the UnforgivingDevices - DD Patch.esp. What was happening is basically that the DD baka keywords.esp was overwritting all patched devices.

What is that mod for? Looking at the xEdit it just adds some keywords which are filled as errors (perhaps it only works on SE, I opened it on LE).

Ahh, it's meant to add bakafactory keywords to DD devices. I think it's working as intended for me? But I'd have to double check.

Thank you for the help! I'm shifting things around to see if they work (and seeing if I can make a quick patch to have both changes take effect)

Hello Ihatemykite,

I know you are working on your other mod atm, this is just an idea for future consideration.

Would it be possible to randomize the difficulty level of the found (by Deviously Enchanted Chests for example) restraints? Currently all of them are what we set it them to. I think it would be interesting to be able to find all kind of different difficulty restraints.

I'd imagine there could be some new MCM settings:

Chance to find Easy: 50%

Chance to find Normal: 30%

Chance to find Hard: 20%

Maybe a checkbox to make all the same difficulty when the player finds multiple restraints at once.

It would give some variations, above the current one (I like how much random the resistances on the restraints now, please make sure you keep that).

Sweet mod, I'm very impressed!

Some devious thought I had while struggling: %-chance to reverse crit key bindings. Just to mess with that muscle memory. ?

Also, is there any way to make the struggling more challenging? I don't mean the number of successes required or to make it longer, but more difficult to nail the crits in the first place (timing->player skill). I like the "mandatory crits" option to punish for missing crits, but so far I've nailed 100% of the crits sadly. ?

Would also be awesome to customize the various debuffs, arousal gain, key break chance etc.
