So I got arrested in Riften, with a 0 bounty no less (I assume this comes from the Alternate start: Deviant Resurrection).  You get a bounty in all holds it seems as you're an escaped slave.  I got taken in through the sewers and the guard ends up stuffing me in a corner next to the jailor.  Ugh... I summoned the jailor to me as it appeared stuck. 

 

Jailor takes me back to the cell then immediately takes me out to parade punishment.  Ok, fine, no big deal, already went through that on the steps of the Palace of Kings.  Worked fine.  But the Riften jailor drags me out past the watchtowers *outside* of the city after getting accosted by Brynjolf (naturally, first time in Riften), and past Maul same reason, both stop me and I skip their dialogs to keep up with jailor.  So once out past the towers we're attacked as soon as I get the hood on my head, by frost spiders, wolves, and two bandits.  The guards gang up and kill them easily.  But by the time all that happens the 'event' is over as the Jailor calls off the crowd... course the event never happened to begin with.  I'm stuck kneeling though without the sack over my head and i'm dragging along and in front of the jailor back into town.  When we reach the center of town I'm stuffed in a pillory which then proceeds to follow the jailor where ever he goes... Including back to the cell.

 

So, now I'm stuck in the pillory in my cell. 

 

I'm currently wearing cuffs I made myself via the DD quest book Forbidden Tome, and originally a collar as well, though it seems to have been replaced with the typical iron one for a prisoner.

 

Is there a way to get rid of the pillory and set the prison scene back to normal?

HI...

 

i just started a new game with the latest version of PO installed but it seems i have a lot of problems i never had with previous versions...

 

1) when i get arrested and the guard brings me to jail, the jailer is NEVER where (s)he should be... i need to use the "reset jailer" option in MCM to have him/her "teleport" at his/her place... then the imprisonment starts... i get undrerssed, restrained and taken to the cell...

 

2) if i get arrested during daytime, the mod immediately tries to take me out to the pillory, i get restrained once again but, since the door is still closing (i got into the cell just a moment before) it doesn't open again so i can't follow the jailor out... i need to use cheat code "TCL" in consolle to pass through the bars...

 

3) i had been arrested in Riften and to take me out of the prison, the jailer needs to lead me thru 2 doors... the 1st that brings to the place where there's the sitting soldier and the second that goes out in Riften... well, if the 1st door is closed the jailer seems unable to open it and keeps walking trying to pass thru it, but since (s)he can't, just stays there walking on the place... i need to use TCL again, pass thru the door and then use "move jailer" in MCM to have him come to me... then he succeeds in taking me to the marked place...

 

4) when we arrive in the market, i get pillored much before reaching the right spot, actually when i'm still on the opposite side of the square... then, the pillory and my PC tries reaching the right place sliding around the square but get usually blocked by people standing arround (such as Brjnyolf)

 

5) Brjnyolf starts talking to me trying to have me start the guild quest line... but of course i'm not in the position to do it right away... 

 

6) after securing me to the pillory, the jailer simply goes away and never comes back... once i stayed there until midnight and nothing happened... some other time the crown gathers but since there isn't the jailor the punishment scene doesn't start... if i again use the "move jailor" option in MCM then the jailor arrives and the scene starts...

 

7) in the rare cases i succeeded to have the scene starting, the males having sex with me at the pillory (or in the cell) do not get a schlong and keep their underware... while if i have sex (even the same NPCs) outside of the PO situations, they get their schlongs and the scene proceeds normally...

 

any idea of what the problem might be ? i was really eager of tring the new features of PO but it seem i can't even have the old ones now... :(

Do we know if the DD patch will be updated for the new version?

The plan, which is delayed from my original schedule, is to release a v34 where DD compatibility is (finally) built in.

for me everything works but the Bounty hunters that approach me without dialogues :( (as Always since many version before).

 

But i have only v33 fix installed (900Kb) and not the v31 of 2,6 Mb.

 

Is it ok?

The smaller file size is optimizations in the amount of data I bundle. v33 should be smaller.

This looks like something is broken with SkyUI or MCM related stuff? Possibly you have issues with Zaz animation pack.

 

Make sure all requirements, and their requirements, are installed.

Weird. I've not seen this before, and the jailer should be scripted to teleport to the right location since they live in a super secret place in Windhelm, and it's quite a walk. Hmm,... oh, wait, I mean, Solitude.

This is going to get fixed in the next version. I'm going to make a ZAP release in between though (hopefully, very likely, today).

Good catch. I'll teach the jailer how to work the door handles. Possibly also give them keys to unlock.

6) after securing me to the pillory, the jailer simply goes away and never comes back... once i stayed there until midnight and nothing happened... some other time the crown gathers but since there isn't the jailor the punishment scene doesn't start... if i again use the "move jailor" option in MCM then the jailor arrives and the scene starts...

 

7) in the rare cases i succeeded to have the scene starting, the males having sex with me at the pillory (or in the cell) do not get a schlong and keep their underware... while if i have sex (even the same NPCs) outside of the PO situations, they get their schlongs and the scene proceeds normally...

I'll check these things out. From the rest of the comments, I assume that most of your crimes are in Riften.....

 

any idea of what the problem might be ? i was really eager of tring the new features of PO but it seem i can't even have the old ones now... :(

HI...

 

i just started a new game with the latest version of PO installed but it seems i have a lot of problems i never had with previous versions...

 

1) when i get arrested and the guard brings me to jail, the jailer is NEVER where (s)he should be... i need to use the "reset jailer" option in MCM to have him/her "teleport" at his/her place... then the imprisonment starts... i get undrerssed, restrained and taken to the cell...

Weird. I've not seen this before, and the jailer should be scripted to teleport to the right location since they live in a super secret place in Windhelm, and it's quite a walk. Hmm,... oh, wait, I mean, Solitude.

 

2) if i get arrested during daytime, the mod immediately tries to take me out to the pillory, i get restrained once again but, since the door is still closing (i got into the cell just a moment before) it doesn't open again so i can't follow the jailor out... i need to use cheat code "TCL" in consolle to pass through the bars...

This is going to get fixed in the next version. I'm going to make a ZAP release in between though (hopefully, very likely, today).

 

3) i had been arrested in Riften and to take me out of the prison, the jailer needs to lead me thru 2 doors... the 1st that brings to the place where there's the sitting soldier and the second that goes out in Riften... well, if the 1st door is closed the jailer seems unable to open it and keeps walking trying to pass thru it, but since (s)he can't, just stays there walking on the place... i need to use TCL again, pass thru the door and then use "move jailer" in MCM to have him come to me... then he succeeds in taking me to the marked place...

Good catch. I'll teach the jailer how to work the door handles. Possibly also give them keys to unlock.

 

4) when we arrive in the market, i get pillored much before reaching the right spot, actually when i'm still on the opposite side of the square... then, the pillory and my PC tries reaching the right place sliding around the square but get usually blocked by people standing arround (such as Brjnyolf)

at the moment my crimes are only in Riften (got arrested for major crime)...

tried uninstalling and reverting to previous version... that fixed all the problem except the schlong/underware problem...

might be a conflict with latest version of SoS ? do you know if you equip anything in the slot SoS uses for the Schlong (slot 52 i think...) ?

 

would be sad having to set PO for only wipping because the people can no longer have sex with me... :(

installed the newest version of SoS and this solved the schlong problem... so at least the preceding version of PO works fine and at the moment i'm playing with it installed... hope the latest will be fixed soon :)

 

ps: actually i don't know about the door problem, since this time it was always opened... :P

THANK YOU !!! Not that I do not like DEVIOUS DEVICES it is AWSOME!!!!  it is better when a MOD has a simple setting with basic requirements so a lower end system would have a better chance also easier to find out if it,s PO or one of the add-ons.

  Just wondering would be possible not now maybe later to make the "PILLORY QUEST" an option I luv the "PRISON QUEST"  what am asking is if there could be two quest not one with the prison being the main. oh well just asking ?

This mod is cool and all but it gets stuck a lot. Usually during transitions from going out to pillory, or parade, or cage, and it takes Forever to do anything. Most of the time I have to wait, which usually doesn't solve the problem, sometimes loading a save fixes is. Why are there so many bugs?? I turned off pillory, cage, and parade since they don't work or function properly. Oh well.

It's because the Skyrim script engine is a thousand year old potato made for a thousand year old console ^^ It gets clogged by things that simple calculators breeze through and doesn't know how to multitask. There is very little modders can do to get around it other than totally bypass the system and use some magical C++ stuffs and so on.

 

And what makes it even worse is that AI in the game is hardcoded so if like 2 NPCs get in each other's way a whole scene could break and you need to resort to scripty workarounds to fix it. Modders have been unable to improve anything about the AI since launch and I think most have given up by now.

 

Prison Overhaul is the victim of Skyrim's biggest limitations. It's trying to use a lot of scenes and scripts outside of sterile lab environments while sharing resources with other mods and the game itself. Delays are not the worst that could be happening ^^

I have tested "v33 fix" installed with a bunch of other mods and it worked.

 

Issues I've encountered:

  • Cage scene has bystanders popping up inside
  • Cage door sometimes remains open and you can run around
  • Pillory animation was resetting when jailer activated next scene  (just before small crowd began to gather). Just regular standing animation was displayed unless punishment itself forced pillory position back.
  • "Parade" looked goofy, but I guess it worked otherwise. Maybe not everyone should rush to tackle player.
  • Damage of whipping was insufficient, I had to use damagemult workaround.

All in all, the mod does work here. If you guys have problems running it, it's probably conflict with something else.

get in jail in whiterun for  petty crimes. no punishment at all.

killed a guard, get 1000 bounty, puníshment came as expected.

so punishment really depends on the bounty.

 

well, the petty crime came from tfg Prostitution. all his guard theatre is once again invain, because the connection to prison overhaul is wasted with a petty crime. iz must be a Major one to make sense.

maybe... but even if so, there's something in version v33 that conficts with someone since version v32 works perfectly in my game... all the problems i reported above only happen with the latest version and never happened before (and i'm using PO since april or march 2014...)

 

so... even if i'm no modder at all, i'd suppose that whatever causes the issues, (conflict, bug, load order, or anything else...) depends on v33 and is not present in v32... :)

This may not be your bugs specifically, but there are some cases where you are guaranteed to get stuck if you don't have Fuz installed. This could be one of your many issues.

 

Apart from that, I'll afraid that I'll have to disagree. This mod works mostly, and in particular the things you mention. (Though they may not work on your system, depending on what you have installed.)

 

.... however .... Skyrim does behave really badly when it comes to pathing, ai, and similar things. It's nothing I can do anything about. Basically, it can mostly handle characters either standing around or trying to kill you. Complex coordinated movements, and especially forcing the player to move around, seem to work pretty poorly.

The bystanders magically teleporting into the cage is a limitation of the engine. There's little I can do about it.

 

Open cage door is not something I've seen before. I'll have to investigate that one closer. Could it be that the door can't close because something was blocking it?

 

"Parade" is one of those I'm on the fence about. I like the basic idea, but it's just too damn hard to get the ai to behave.

 

I'll make sure to set a timer for the whipping in coming releases.

I agree. There must be some actions in PO to make sense. Although it works similar to vanilla, having whipping in the street (with a crowd, etc) or something may make more sense. Also take less time and feel more like worth it to get caught and not reloading.

I've been trying to find a fix for the off bug where the guard just stands in your cell staring at you for the first punishment. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

I think the stuff in DAYMOYL captured, especially with the Thalmor is a great template of what prison overhaul could do to make things more interesting (and add in executions for high crimes).

Xaz, nice work on the latest.  I have problems much like others have reported but overall it works.  I like the parade and cage, gives the mod nice variety.  I do have one issue to report and it was happening in the previous, v32 as well.  If I'm in Windhelm or another prison where there is no outside pillory the mod takes my character to Whiterun during the day, must be some prisoner exchange thing.  In the evening the prisoner is taken back to the appropriate city.  I have it on fast forward so it doesn't really interfere with the flow of the game just a bit immersion breaking.

This mod has issues managing followers ..

It just freeze (the mod not the game) while starting punishment sometimes, expecially in the new cages.

But only with a follower (vanilla).
