Tron91 Posted April 18, 2020 Posted April 18, 2020 There is no flip-side in wearing a mask, you are safe from a lot of dust allergies which usually can cause dry cough, sneezing and these are symptoms which you will want to avoid these days anyway.
Tron91 Posted April 18, 2020 Posted April 18, 2020 Just for giggles (a joke running around now in my profession as a banker): Friend: Ain't you afraid of going out daily for work amidst this deadly epidemic? Banker: Death is my slave! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Real situation: No one gives a shit here, if a banker dies or lives. Govt. uses us like their puppets, pulling strings all the time. We are not getting any protection equipment or premise sanitization. We have to deal with it from our own pockets mostly, and now these things are becoming really costly and hard to avail. But hey, you have to do your job until you or one of the customer is found Covid-19 positive. Then the real panic will start by searching who got the infection first, with whom you came in contact within the last 14 days or so. Some will try to hide from the authorities, next Police will be on their trails, quarantine this family then that family, lastly seal the whole locality. A real shitty story: Couple of days ago, a man was tested positive, he had recently been in a meeting with the Deputy Commissioner and the Superintendent of Police for the district (both under quarantine now). Both these people then had a meeting with the Elected Representative of the District, this fellow then had meeting with the Head of the State who then held meeting with the DC of 7 other districts. Now what happens if the DC and SP are found positive after 14 days.

I facepalm every time someone makes an argument and supports it by linking to some youtube video or a book written by another one of those 'scientists gone rogue' who are clearly just milking money from one of the many groups of gullible conspiracy nuts.

Simply put, most people can't handle power correctly.

That's the ugly thing about this sort of thing. If you catch it early, "nip it in the bud" so to speak, you won't have much problem. Do that, and with little spread, you'll get exactly the reaction you're getting now "Oh well we're getting tired of this quarantine stuff. It's time to go back to work!" from the public. At the same time, of course, with few cases, if you use extreme measures, you'll get people accusing you of 'making it up'. That, and of course the average human doesn't understand how viruses work. Even when they do, many don't understand the measures necessary to keep it from spreading. On the other hand, do it wrong, and if/when you switch tactics and start doing what you should have been doing from the start, you'll have that much bigger of an issue to deal with. Not handled correctly, things like this can get big very quickly. In a lot of cases/subjects, from a governmental perspective, there is no right answer that will keep most people happy. You're damned if you do, and damned if you don't.

Apparently it's just easier to let others find things for you. You know how many times I've answered questions (does x have nude mods?) on this very sight with a 1 min web search? Too many and then they have the fucking nerve to ask for more help. Worse is hardly anyone thinks for themselves cause *gasp* what if someone disagrees?!! or OMG they are wrong?!!! It eases people's anxiety/absolves them of personal guilt when they participate in group think. Anyway, we were discussing Covid 19. Sorry for the rant.
Bazinga Posted April 18, 2020 Posted April 18, 2020 I know. And I don't get it. One theory I have is that many people learn by copying others and that's basically it unless the subject matter resonates with them. Learning stuff all by yourself seems like a very rare skill and also too hard/time consuming. Even if it's fucking trivial like asking Google. Too many out there are too stupid to distill the relevant information from their query too so their search results don't really help them. Or, like many of my colleagues at work, they don't know enough English. The German web isn't nearly as large as the English one and you simply won't find answers to a lot of questions there. And when they are actually interested in a topic/issue then most people do the same shit they would do when learning an instrument or pottery or whatever hobby they are obsessed with, they just filter and then absorb the stuff they like or want to be true and dismiss the rest. That's not how you do research though, your own emotions should have no place in any of it. Well, it probably always was like that.

How will this period of time be recorded? When you figure out that much of what we're told/taught are lies omissions and embellishments, you learn to take everything with a grain of salt.

I'm not sure that the majority of people ever has that epiphany in their life. Shame really. It would already make a huge difference if people were more relaxed and not so invested in stuff they don't know jack shit about. Which is most of what's happening in the world, because unless you're rich and bored you won't find the time and money to learn enough about this complex world outside of your village and maybe your job (if you care about more than the paycheck) to form an educated opinion. Why do I still believe in democracy? Because it's a safeguard, preventing the next Hitler from taking over. Didn't work the last time, ok, but we fixed the flaws in our consitution so next time I'm more optimistic. Other than that I wished people would just shut up and let the experts handle stuff. And vote for whatever they feel like voting for without families breaking apart over it.
KoolHndLuke Posted April 18, 2020 Posted April 18, 2020 21 minutes ago, Bazinga said: Other than that I wished people would just shut up and let the experts handle stuff I think it's good for people to question everything since that's the foundation of a more informed, free thinking society. It's when opinion is mistaken for fact that things spiral out of control if left unchecked. One beneficial coincidence of something like Covid 19 is to make people take a closer look at and reevaluate their lives/the world around them. But, the bad part is that it's not the end of the world some thought and once it's subsided the blame game might reach unprecedented heights. Times ahead could be very interesting.......to put it mildly.
Bazinga Posted April 18, 2020 Posted April 18, 2020 I'm somewhat afraid of people having more time to think and reevaluate stuff tbh. That only seems to lead to things like burned down 5G towers. Gotta be less cynic, I know...

Darkpig Posted April 19, 2020 Posted April 19, 2020 There is a global pandemic and suddenly protection ware is the new chic. Good to know some things never change.
yuanekny Posted April 21, 2020 Posted April 21, 2020 For China, war and confrontation will always exist. And better than any of you.A large population and area, enough ideas and groups, will produce the strongest one in the Colosseum.(not derogatory) I don't know why, in the face of a population whose epidemic death toll and probability cannot be controlled, are those who are qualified and courageous enough to criticize those who do better? As for the source of the outbreak, please explain clearly why the us had various plans and actions before China.Where are the samples of e-cigarette diseases? Maybe your politicians can extort some benefits from China. What's that got to do with you?I won't give you a cent. You yourself have fallen into a deep hole, this hole may be their own digging, not to find someone to help, but also framed others digging the hole. Make America great again, and keep the number one. Hypothetically -- healthy, young, no, injured. Why - young nurses, doctors, would die? Death, probability. No, god, roll the dice. Perhaps, death, yourself, your family, your friends, your children... Fatal forever is not a question of probability. I believe that everyone has the right to claim freedom. It's important to pay for it. The face of death, also, as it were, freedom. Better to live, I hope you.
yuanekny Posted April 21, 2020 Posted April 21, 2020 It really disappoints me. Are americans just like bitches facing divorce, crying their eyes out and blaming others? It's like a trade war, cheating each other over and over again, like a badass ex-boyfriend, garbage and infatuating. If war is the choice, so be it. Each and every one of us is preparing for the war that will determine the fate of the world. If you choose to separate, then come, let everyone's hard work and labor determine the economic strength.
s.kirmish Posted April 21, 2020 Posted April 21, 2020 I wish yuanekny would just take his 3 times 50 cent and spread his propaganda somewhere else, but we can't tell him, because he only uses translate, and isn't paid for reading anyway, brave regime soldier that he is. The first post: The west tries to lecture China on freedom, even though they have the true freedom, because they managed to overthrow the old ways, if I get that right. (likely meaning the glorious cultural revolution. public slavery, concentration of power in a state where the top has no accountability and rule of law is as arbitrary as the day. truly chinese culture leaped by centuries those years, the direction however..) Oh, and he (..I mean his script-writers) lament that the west hasn't copied that model. Our freedom is just the freedom to chose how to die, apparently. Not sure if that is a subtle threat, or if it should actually mean that the freedoms of the west are just illusionary compared to those great great china freedoms. The rest: Yes, lets not fight each other, says the guy who just emptied his garbage can into the public drinking supply. "I hit you in the face, but hey, was yesterday, we should seek peace, that is wisdom. It is your peers that want you to punch me anyway, not you! You smart. We family. No death please. ..Unless I do it tomorrow again.., but not now! Is just more violence if you do too, yes?" "China best people, because China large. Greatest champion doctors have actual greatest champion thugs point gun to their head to say all is fine in china. You just jealous." "War just fate of the world. We good." Jeezus cristopherus Sorry, I get riled up over this. Actual aggressive communists on war path in open sight, entering discourse everywhere... . It is sickening how the world is developing currently. Literally, metaphorically, and even combined.

As soon as he was out of earshot (I think), I said to the dude I was talking to "Oh, look, there goes a nutter right there!" Goofy people.
