@Aylis still is reckovering from health issues so the guide is PRE-AE. A version of this guide incorporating the whole of AE (i.e. anything besides the free upgrade) will get its own thread when it is happening. Which will not happen anytime soon. Basically this has to happen first: One of the must have basic mods decides it absolutely requires all of AE at some point and the requirements cascade down. Happened with any of the oldrim DLCs and will happen again.

@wollboi made some early tests about AE compability and as far as I understand it at this point you can make the guide kinda work.

Continue goes from the last save made, which may or may not be an autosave, though there are options in the games main menu to stop saving on resting and such, not too sure if it affects the save on exit though, had the same problem myself a few times autosave would either not load or ctd the game, the exact same save but done manually just before I exited the game worked fine, never did figure out why, but it was not a major problem for me.  There did use to be a mod that disabled save on exit on nexus though damned if I can find it, though that might have been on le.

Okay - Im just going through Patches and seem to have hit a wall - the game seems stable up to this point I have reached, but instead of one particular patch it seems adding anything beyond this causes the save game corruption

 

Just adding the 3 skyrim reptuation mods, or the 5 USMP mods or QUASIPC (which adds several esps) all seem to cause the issue.  

Ive seen mention of esp limit, and getting esls instead where possible - is there a way of knowing if you've gone over this or is it something else?

@Madigan- hover over where it says "421" active plugins in MO2 (in the upper right of your screenshot). It will give you a breakdown and tell you how many of those 421 plugins are esp+esm plugins, which is the number that matters.

As @manafallsstated hover over the active plug-ins and it will give you several numbers

esl do not matter for this. esm+esp is what matters. Ideally you want less than 254. i've added enough mods that i skirt this all the time. but i see that your screen shows a 2 in the alert box. one is probably missing masters. second is you probably have things in overwrite. Fix those as well. 

 

edit: for the record i do not have any of those patches, never even downloaded them for reputation. or for usmp only patcher i have is quinn's and i only have 5 patches from it.

@Aylis HDT-SMP, an skse plugin allowing more advanced physics interactions to be applied to actors via configuration files, hasn't been updated in over 2 years.

 

Consider Faster HDT-SMP  - faster physics for capes, clothes, hair, etc, was first posted last October and is being actively developed/maintained.  It provides "... massively improve performance over HDT-SMP. This makes a huge difference as it allows for things like animated guard capes, clothes, hair, etc. without breaking your FPS every time you approach a city or a group of imperials/stormcloaks!:

Thanks for this info. I'm still seeing Autosaves after I disabled all the in-game menu stuff but I haven't played around with this build for very long yet. Sounds like I might want to take the time to learn a little bit more about MO2 and write myself a script that clears out autosaves on boot. 

 

As for  SKSE extensions-- took another look and nothing in this section requires .NET script framework so I'm skipping it entirely. @wollboi have you seen any issues further down the list without it?

I do not run this list, the version I have is quite a few versions back, and has quite a few of my own items added to it, there again, I now have problems with bodyslide not even working, it starts up, but does not actually do anything, there again, even with updating to the ae version of se blocked, and working for some time, the last reboot I did updated the dame game, so now having to see what the hell is going on, so at present no working se install at all.

 

Edit, I have the vague memory that one of the mods in the list, the one that allows you to change the way in game time runs, also has autosaves in various situations, they can be disabled, but are enabled by default, there again it could be one of the mods I added myself, not too sure.

@unknownwake The author of that mod has said that they will not be updating it for AE. The game won't load if you have it enabled. I've turned it off. Pretty sure somebody else will come along and duplicate it for the future.

By now they've changed it to "I will port plugin to anniversary edition myself when I consider the plugin could running on AE stably enough.", as you can check on their profile. Just to bring that up to date though, as I doubt they will consider it that way any time soon though, considering around the AE release they stated they would never do it and any AE port is explicitly forbidden. Who knows though

Thank you for your work . I haven't installed it yet, but I've found a few things: (Optional) Font Overhaul - Natural Typefaces for Skyrim - FONTS SkyUI
This mod turns all letters into cubes. This is a "Cathedral Landscapes" requirement for "Disable Snow Grass - For Vanilla and Cathedral Landscapes", "Misc. Blended Road Fixes" but is not on the list. For now, I installed it under "Misc. Blended Road Fixes."
MajesticMountains.esp had to be cleaned, and to run the groups temporarily (as you advised at first, override, quest, etc.) you need to install and run FNIS and alternate start.
I'm at armor now. Some mods require a specific version of enb, but this is not the case. No need for enb?
This is the enb version installed in the base game.

Hey ya'll animation trouble question. 

So I've been setting up a new LO using this as a basis. I'm pretty much done, I AM doing it on AE, which means there are a few (3 I believe) forced cuts, as well as a few other cuts I made simply due to personal preference. But my animation setup should be pretty much identical to "stock" this list. 
I got all the way down to where it was time to do FNIS/Nemesis, no issues. I will note that I've had nemesis installed for testing purposes this whole time, as one of the other mods requires it be present to prevent a crash on load. And up to that point, all my tests pass. I would finish the cart ride and char creation no problem. Curiously, the game animated like normal too, which was strange in hindsight seeing as I didn't RUN nemesis, but I digress. 

So I did the disable all, run FNIS, move to mod, Disable FNIS, Enable Nemesis, Run nemesis, move to mod tango. Suddenly my char is stuck t-posed. 
Curious, so I remove it all and run again. Same issue. T-pose. A
So I remove all and revert to the last known "good" state, no outputs, nothing in overwrite, and a fresh install of nemesis active, but not run. No dice, still T-posed. Somehow, having attempted to run the animation apps has disabled animations in their entirety even without outputs. Is this something anybody has knowledge of and can advise on? Very curious indeed.

 

EDIT: AT least for now, issue solved (figures, right after I post). Leaving this here for others to see in case they go looking. 

No idea why this solved it, but what I did that finally made it work was: 
Deactivate ZAZ and all that depended on it
Run Nemesis
Deactivate Nemesis
Activate FNIS
Run FNIS
Deactivate FNIS

And then it worked, from there I reactivated ZAZ, ran the usual FNIS -> Nemesis loop, and all was well. no idea why this fixed but hey.

The "Lanterns Of Skyrim II" installer does not have a "LoS II - Tamriel Master Lights" and "LoS II - TML - Guard Armor Replacer patch" options. This is in the 5 points of the "Weather and Lighting" Group.

@Xamdir Those two patches for LoS2 were folded into the main mod, so you don't need to worry about them now. As for EVLaS, it *should* work but I haven't tried it yet. If you do, let us know how it goes.

I've also had issues with PC and NPC bodies in the past and was the reason I'm updating my install now. Bodies and of course sexlab animations but we'll see how that shakes out.

In game the stuff works fine, I just can not now run body-slide, no idea why though, the program as I said starts up, but you can not change to the program nor do anything with it, but it shows as there and running in the task manager and the bar at the bottom of the screen with all your current running programs on it, hopefully, when I finally finish updating for ae with everything it will start working again, or it could be something to do with windows 10 updates that are stopping it, though firewall and antivirus pass through's are still in place and working as far as I can tell.

@Aylis i can confirm i got all mods in this list to work in AE, i did change out a few couse they'll never be updated.

Hey everyone, has anyone got into tuning their CBPC Collision ini?  I was using the PDF guide and wanted to ask what you guys do to improve the settings if the hands actually clip through the breast of my PC during idle animations.  Do I increase or decrease the radius?  What are your guys tips?

Hi All

 

So am up and running and been immersed in all things Skyrim the last few days, only a few issues so far but if anyone can help out please let me know

 

- the trees are all far off in the distance thanks to DynDOLOD, but grass I can see getting drawn in front of me as I move - I assume this is in the Skyrim.ini (which truth be told I just plonked the one supplied here into \Documents\My Games\Skyrim Special Edition\) or is it something else? *

- the dialogue options sometimes change - think Ive fixed this now by adding the RDO patch but still goes a bit wonky - usually the wanting to buy or wanting to trade is there when you first click on them but disappears by the time you go to press it to be replaced by SLEN, also when you want to use SLEN that sometimes disappears from the options

- black face (can live with this as its only affected Ralof and Balgruff so far) did try removing the two texture mods I have for males but get rid of it)

 

Besides that am loving it so far - I played skyrim to death back in the day - but with the overhaulls to Bleak Falls, Embershard, Cities etc plus the change of music it feels very fresh and exciting again.

Here are a few more things I've found with regards to swapping to AE. Some of this will mirror @DarkDragoon197.

 

Foundation

* Better Dynamic Ash - Has moved to https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/54754 . I've tested this in VR, but not AE. I imagine it works fine though.

* Majestic Mountains - There's a patch for Bloodchill Manor that is needed. Right now, MM will obscure the entrance to the cave that was added through CC. You have to enable no-clip to get to it. I haven't added it to my load order because I really don't care about it, but I imagine it's fine.

 

SKSE Extensions

* A lot of these don't work but can still be left in the load order. I have a pretty stable build and the ones that don't work don't hurt to leave in. The only exception is .NET Framework, which will prevent the game from launching.

* ENB Helper - There's a new version that is a separate download from the SE version. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/23174?tab=files

* JContainers - The mod has been removed due to the Ukraine/Russia war. While I support the mod author (and Ukraine) entirely, this will completely invalidate the load order. JContainers was one of the mods that I was waiting for the longest to be updated. For a while, you had to download the beta version on the author's website (or Patreon? I can't remember). The beta version worked fine, so if that's still available then I'd go for that. Like I said, I respect the author's wishes of course, but the load order will be dead in the water without the update. Off the top of my head, Aroused Creatures, SlaveTats, and of course XP32 will not work without it.

* Go to Bed - Separate download. MCM is completely different (do the opposite of what you would usually do when selecting clothing to automatically remove). OF NOTE FOR ALL VERSIONS is that if you're like me and do a lot of enchantments sometimes the automatic removal and putting-back-on of clothes will NOT apply your enchantments after they're removed and put back on. You have to manually unequip and re-equip to get the enchantments to apply. I think this is a problem with Skyrim not automatically applying static effects, as the same happens in vanilla when you get the Necromage perk. The same holds true for Dirt and Blood if you automatically disrobe. Doesn't happen always, but is super annoying when a giant is suddenly handing you your ass where before you were one-shotting Kaarstag. What I do is hot-key all the armor that I wear, then just remove it manually through SkyUI. * Nether's Follower Framework - Not on the list, but I know a lot of people use it and I've started coming around to it to. That being said, it does not work well with AE. I get freezes a lot, where before adding it I would get maybe one CTD per week with my build. Seems to get worse as you progress longer into a playthrough. Still completely functional, but be aware of all the bugs. If you use it, maybe do without it for a while. A TRICK I FOUND (and by I found, I mean I found in a Reddit post from three years ago. If your game freezes, normally you need to CTRL+ALT+DELETE and reboot your machine, which sucks. But there's a way around this that keeps you from having to reboot.

After it freezes, enter CTRL+ALT+DELETE. On the new screen, click Task Manager. The screen will either go back to Skyrim or go black. That's fine. ALT+TAB until Task Manager is highlighted. Type the word "Sky". No indication will be given that it's doing this, but it is. Then press Delete. Skyrim will close/crash, and you'll be back to your desktop. A hell of a lot less annoying than having to reboot.
