ratrace Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 Just read the story here: http://www.loverslab.com/topic/31469-banned-by-nexus-for-telling-2-years-ago-story/ Holy shit. The bans are getting more and more ridiculous. Of course I see a point that you shouldn't admit to use pirated software on a site when it can get the proprietor into trouble. But simply telling an ancient story about how you had a pirated Skyrim copy on your rig two years ago and getting the boot for exactly that story is downright obscene and very low. Yeah right, dear Nexus Moderators, dear Mr. Scott. You all paid for your Windows and never in your entire life used illegal copies, right? Even as a student (one of those who do not get pampered by mommy and daddy, that is) you just stopped eating and paying rent and instead paid for all your software, didn't you. You paid for your Office Suites, your Antivirus programs, simply for anything on your PCs and Laptops, because you're real decent people, aren't you? Never illegally downloaded copyrighted material like music or movies, never shared that stuff. Oh how adorable and honourable. Not even a legit judge would punish anyone for having used a pirated game copy two years ago. But site proprietors who piss any pant that someone hands them do so. Grow a spine, that helps.
Redflyingmonkey Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 Screw this, I always check this thread when everyone's calming down and the war is over. THE BLITZ, THE BLITZ IS ON ME OH MAN
Rayblue Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 looks goodit's great to read it's also in the leveled list and i love how, unlike most crossbow mods, this one looks simple the only reason why i won't download this glorious piece of engineering is because due to skyre, this thing is extremely ineffective nevertheless i hope others will download it and use it a lot to kill those nasty vampires i will, without a doubt, keep this one in mind if you even think of adding more kinds of crossbows that are not over the top and a kudos to the one who made the textures http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/54134/?tab=4&&navtag=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nexusmods.com%2Fskyrim%2Fajax%2Fcomments%2F%3Fmod_id%3D54134%26page%3D1%26sort%3DDESC%26pid%3D0%26thread_id%3D1723698&pUp=1 What kind of fucking comment is that?
ElectricSheep Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 What kind of fucking comment is that? It's the same kind of politeness as pictured in Demolition Man. Except that on the Nexus you don't pay a fine for saying "fuck" but end up in the fringe forever.
Rayblue Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 It's like, "Great mod, but I'm not downloading it because I have this thingmabob which does it better." Kind of dousing water on the author, eh?
Guest Omega1084 Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 It's more like. "Great but I don't like it but it's great but I won't use it but it's awesome but I have this thing that I use that won't let me use it."Like when someone asks you to hang out with them and you're all "Err.. I'd really love to go but I have a date tonight and it's kinda important."
Guest Omega1084 Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 Hmm.. maybe they just wanted to be nice. Maybe they did give the mod author shit and Don'te edited his post. Who knows?
Duoleb The Chosen Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 im the only one who thinks that SkyRe users suffers from Retard-itis
Captain Cobra Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 Why be a SkyRetard when you can be a S.P.E.R.G.lord?
Redflyingmonkey Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 im the only one who thinks that SkyRe users suffers from Retard-itis Well, that was nice to read, screw you too bro !
Guest Omega1084 Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 Why be a SkyRetard when you can be a S.P.E.R.G.lord? S.P.E.R.G. is where it's at.
Redflyingmonkey Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 Those are two sensibly identical mods except either has some trinkets that the other doesn't have. It's like reading two copies of the same book from different editors and saying one is better written because it has a cover you like.
Guest Omega1084 Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 Well, you seem to be the expert. May I have a copy of the spreadsheet you're using to gather all these statistics?
Redflyingmonkey Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 I'm so sorry, I got nothing except for the relatively suspicious information that I've tried both of them, and chose one not by preference but simply because it was the last one I installed.
Guest Omega1084 Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 So that's a "no, I'm kinda just talking outta my ass". Thanks. Back on topic, I'm curious, has there actually been an account of a mod/admin at the Nexus editing a post because it went against the mod author/supporter/etc's sensibilities?
Redflyingmonkey Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 Or that's me telling you that I've tried both of them so I do know why they aren't different because I've tried them. And yes, 2 days ago or so some Nexus moderators modified Yoo's credit section on his Merida Hair mod because he thanked LoversLab. Ah, there, I've seen it, so I can tell you it happened because I've seen it.
Guest Omega1084 Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 Why are you always so angry? Geez. I'm just saying, there's no concrete evidence that they play exactly the same without extensive testing. You don't have anything to show to back your statement, is all. On the other hand I can go back a few pages and see that Dante did in fact change a mod description to remove a LoversLab reference before. At any rate with how ridiculous the bans are getting[even more ridiculous than before] it's starting to feel like the "Wall of Shame" is just where the moderators go to play a game, to see who can ban who for the dumbest of reasons, it's getting rather unsettling, as if it wasn't before. I might be a little late to the party on that assumption though.

I might be a little late to the party on that assumption though. I'm not angry at all, it's just that I like to keep things hot when discussing about stuff in English. I don't have the occasion to talk much in this language where I am so every time I get the chance I start writing text walls and to keep them meaningful they have to be inserted in some sort of angry looking argument. And now that you see where I'm heading, let's just keep you happy and not ask you what makes you believe S.P.E.R.G would be better than SkyRe, and not ask you for herm ... "concrete evidence" or a "spreadsheet". ___ Oh yeah, with all the modders they sent away for "ripped content" even though it was actually meshes they worked on, or the forum users they banned for reporting bugs on TES5Edit or NMM, it's a miracle the site is still alive.
Guest Omega1084 Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 I personally like SPERG because of how it makes perk trees relate to each other and maintain relevancy between them. Pickpocketing and Alchemy go great together but not without Sneak because of obvious reasons. It was like that in Vanilla, and it worked well, but SPERG makes it a viable choice for sneaks to actually sneak and put poison in someone's pockets. Some other of the perks are just plain funny to put to use. Charging groups of enemies with a shield held up is hilarious to watch for me. It also makes magic more viable than SkyRe and makes mage-types feel a lot more powerful without making a plain strength character a weakling. The fact that it's simpler at the same time helps because I have a ton of heavy mods that would break with SkyRe around. Though I'll admit the Best Friend perk in the Speech tree is kinda dumb.. and so is the pet it creates. They're liable to ruin any stealth mission. But anyway that's me. ------ The main reason Nexus is still around is because it's so big. They could ban 100 people a day and even those people would keep coming back because that's the "nexus" of PC modding. They don't really have a choice and I'm sure Dorky knows it.
Redflyingmonkey Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 And I like SkyRe especially for the fact that it does the same things, the Reproccer issue that makes people unable to use mods is not really one, it's actually a great tool that allows you to modify the values of newly added weapon or armor mods so they can fit nicely in a SkyRe gameplay, which means no more illogically strong downloaded random leather armor, and no more disappointment from downloading a really cool sword that doesn't do any damage because you're level 150. All of that without opening the CK once, and in under 30 seconds. There's also a special perk tree for Frostfall and survival mods that fits with anything, and a lot of mods in the whole package like Sneak Tools or Hunter Traps and were made to be completely compatible with the perk trees. There's also this perk that allows you to disguise yourself as someone from a particular faction to infiltrate them, perks that allow you to play a valid spell sword, modifications to the magic trees that completely fixes the broken spells without making them weak... S.P.E.R.G does basically the same thing in a different way, none of them is better than the other. It's just as you've said a matter of liking one more "personally". Which also means saying that SkyRe users are retards is a proof of retardness in itself. _______ I call that the "World of Warcraft effect". They all know it's turning to shit, but they can't stop using it. It's pretty annoying to think the Nexus is working with the way they're treating their members. Even me to be honest, I keep bashing them because, hell, it's fun and they are dick faced geeks, but I would probably stop playing Skyrim if it did go down without a similar platform to replace it. It's an ugly feeling.
Guest Omega1084 Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 Fair enough, good sir. Fair enough. ______ I'd be hard-pressed to think that the Nexus mods can see anything beyond their 1337 banning powers. Don'te for example seems to love making people miserable without thinking of the consequences pushing people away might have. Actually, scratch that, there's literally no consequences to the bullshit he pulls in the forums. Thing is, if the Nexus does go down and people flood this side I dunno how well that'd turn out.I, for one, wouldn't mind all the shitheads over there staying over there. I don't use their forums anyway.
Redflyingmonkey Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 Same for me, used their chat once when I didn't know better, and I was forbidden to ever go in there, ever, by Dante actually. Told one joke to a dude I was talking to, and instaban for saying the word "vomit" more than once, which was a part of the joke god damn it. Tried to talk to Dante after that, and he tells me that the "next time I do it he will ban me from the actual site", before asking me what I was banned for. But well, most of the money they make is from people who just come there to download and leave without looking at the forum so you don't have to fear an invasion or anything. The premium account members are nearly never banned too. My only consolation concerning the fact that they will never get what they deserve is to know that I'm not giving a single cent to those morons, with my Ad block always activated and the promise I've made to never get a paid account. It's kind of annoying though when a pirate that they banned comes here from time to time like he owns the place and believes we're all like him. Kudos to the awesome advertisement they're making for us at the Nexus, they're making sure only the douches flood this way.
Guest Omega1084 Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 Oh yeah, Dorky and Don'te love painting us as the gathering hall for piracy so when they're banned over their, they rush over here to complain about how being a pirate is not allowed in a site based around modding. It's kinda funny how a lot of them think Modding is the same as Pirating. I still don't know the logic behind that. Paid accounts don't even get any bonuses, as far as I can tell their downloads are either as fast as normal users or slower.
myuhinny Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 Even some of their formal warnings are getting pretty stupid. http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/1705269-maxeurotrash-formal-warning-issued/ user gets a formal warning for posting *Yeah that's not an armor...* Makes you wonder where their heads are at or what they are on when they send out a formal warning like that and if the mod author can't take a comment like that maybe they really shouldn't be uploading anything.

The funny thing is that he was right. It's not armor if it's just a corset, boots and tights. That's clothing.
