Well, well, well! It seems Sony has dropped all DMCA copyright strikes for YouTubers. Now I've made it clear on Thequartering and HeelvsBabyface on YouTube that I don't doubt they or Naughty Dog will try something again. SJWs don't back down from attacking others until they're forced to. But it is interesting timing as Az from the latter channel mentions. The game is out in four weeks and any further attacks will just hurt sales more than they've already been. So someone higher up must be reining them in for the time being.

 

And like everyone else, I'm bored to death with what Sony and Neil Cuckmann et al do for now. The sales figures and user reviews post-launch will tell the real story. As will the inevitable spate of "told-you-so" crap if it does well or the "IT'S ALL THE FANDOM'S FAULT!" cries if it doesn't. At this point I honestly can't guess which it will be.

indefinite delay, pre-order refunds. this game is fucked. who wants to guess that this game won't release in 2020? they are going to go back and redo at least half of it i bet. rewrite story, re-code, voice new lines... 2021 or 2022?

i remember Neil was asked about a sequel shortly after the first game released to much acclaim and success and he responded with "never". to paraphrase, he himself felt it was such a masterpiece and held it in such high regard that he felt any attempt at a sequel would fall short. in essence to go out on a high note. alot of people are saying that they would prefer no sequel to this version. personally i think Neil wanted to make sure that there would be no threequel and try his hand at shock & awe storytelling.

I would disagree. Neil has shown all the signs of falling for the Cult of Social Justice so this doesn't seem like any deliberate attempt to make sure there's no third game. But as I said, the sales figures and user reviews will be the true story of whether this game is a hit or a failure. And given the incentive packages Sony is pushing out (free copies of this game alongside a PS4 Pro and a Seagate external HDD; Seagate hard drives are horrible) it's just like what stores did with 76, literally giving away free copies with other products.

There are several other Youtube channels, like HeelvsBabyface, Nerdrotic, Geeks and Gamers, and others that are going through the same shit. The fact that Sony now has dropped the strikes on many of these channels may not mean that the shitshow is over.  Sony might try to restrike channels before the game is released for more 'damage control', which is hilarious.....the damage has already been catastrophic enough to ruin Pre-Order sales figures, and their idiocy in handling the situation is now widespread news. Of course very few of the mainstream gaming sites have enough spine to report the crap going on, being more interested in keeping their revenue streams unscathed. Fucking cowards.

They've already started another wave of DMCA strikes against both YouTubers and now Twitter users. All in an attempt to bury things until said mainstream "critics" have a chance to release their simp pieces. There are already lawsuits in the works over these new strikes and the Streisand Effect just ballooned again.

Well, THAT was predictable, seeing how the Muso Sony Shell LLC mucked up the first wave of 'complaints'......wish YouBoobTube and Twatter could pull their heads out of their arses for once and actually police the targetted content. Most of what is being flagged or redone is within Fair Use or all the memes that have cropped up lately.

 

Now I have a slight urge to take up golf (or at least a simulation of......), and my targets wouldn't be Dunlop or Titleist.....

I said the same thing about them renewing the strikes on Thequartering and HeelvsBabyface. As YouTube and Twitter ever doing anything right, we're more likely to see an unbiased election season.

 

We can also see how desperate Sony is by looking at their "special packages" that include TLOU 2. Honestly, bundling Seagate drives in? You couldn't pay me to use those things.

I can strongly relate to this because I know and heard of this notorious SJW writer you're talking about very well.  Her Tropes vs. Women video series is a laughing stock to real gamers who don't care to listen to this rhetoric.  In all full, strong honesty I dislike her.  I won't say her name on here, but she has done enough collateral damage to the gaming community.  She is not even a real gamer.  She is a fraudster who wants to push her own far left political agenda and instill it into video games just so she can make money out of it.  That's all she cares about is making a quick paycheck.  I don't plan on getting the sequel and I'm all for the boycott.  I thank God this SJW won't get the chance to ruin Cyberpunk 2077 since the developer told her basically to get bent (paraphrasing here).  I hope to God Starfield and Elder Scrolls VI won't be the next games this SJW writer will get the chance to ruin.  But TLOU2?  Thanks but no thanks.  I'll wait and save my $60 and buy the next new moddable game that is worth buying.

A week or so ago IGN put out an article where Sony claims the spoilers didn't hurt pre-orders. Which is true in the most literal sense that spoilers didn't hurt pre-orders. They don't say anything about their actions hurting pre-orders, despite the fact many once-sold out copies of the various special and collector's editions suddenly became plentiful again not long after they started DMCA striking people unfairly and illegally. But as I keep saying, the final sales figures will tell the real story.

Oh I'm sure tons of normies who have never even heard of all the controversy will rush to buy it simply "because Last of Us sequel!". I'd say the real story will be the reception once the general public has completed their golfing tour.

Fortunately I won't be one of them.  I just hope to God Bethesda doesn't screw up Starfield and The Elder Scrolls VI.  So far our only hope is to wait for the release of Cyberpunk 2077.  It wouldn't surprise me if that game ends up winning game of the year since the 45 minute game play trailer looked very promising.

Unfortunately for us all, Bugthesda has been going in the "streamline it to hell" direction for over a decade so I'm fully expecting them to screw up Starfield. I've already lost all hope for TES VI.

 

Critic reviews are out for TLOU 2 and, to no one's surprise, the overwhelming majority are 100/100 on Metacritic. They've all had to be heavily redacted (like not saying the name of Ellie's love interest) which just makes things more suspect. It'll be interesting to see what users have to say about it on Friday.

I get the feeling all our old favorites to mod will become more difficult as the developers create new strategies to defeat player mods in favor of the Corporation created ones. Just another form of micro-transactions....

They're still hung up on the "crunch culture," though I have to--reluctantly--admit they have a point for once. Naughty Dog pole vaulted over the line between "crunch" and "abuse" in a way that would make Hollywood Studios (remember MK 11?) proud. It'll be interesting to see how well the game holds up in the reviews by Saturday. I can't imagine too many end users are going to give it perfect scores like shill media did.

I've been a fan of Female leads in games ever since Tomb Raider. Yet given the recent light on the 'new' concept of strong female characters, we see a lot of IP's, both movie and games gender swapping parts instead of creating new IP's.

 

You mention Bethesda but It seems they have already been messing with this as I recently found out about the Wolfenstein: Youngblood release (this series kinda lost me after the first one - post Bethesda). For those not familiar, the player is now tasked with being one of Blaskowitz's daughters, kicking Nazi ass and taking names. It's not a bad idea, but given the times - seems a bit pandering. Kinda surprised they haven't released a DLC for DOOM Eternal with a new 'sexy' Doom gurl option but since it's 1st person, would be as effective as the gender option on Farcry5.
