Technical Support

So it's not working as expected? Don't despair! We're here to help.

Post in this thread if you are in need of technical support with the mod.

Attached you will find the documentation for Ivy 5.0.

You can find this same documentation in game, in the NX-2C Controller Holotape.

Do not hesitate to ask any questions, should you have them!

Ivy's Affinity Quests

- HyperCombat!

Kicks off after speaking with Ivy and Ivy has engaged an enemy in combat more than 20 times.

- Into the Deep
Needs a minimum player level of 17. Kicks off several affinity levels after establishing a deeper love relationship with Ivy. (Affinity = 46. PL > 17)

- Robotic Assimilation
Kicks off once you reach affinity level 60+ with Ivy and speaking with Ivy.

- Ivy Goes to NukaWorld

Kicks off after finishing Into the Deep and Robotic Assimilation, and after NukaWorld has been unlocked (e.g. the NukaWorld radio signal can be found)

- Processing Power! (short quest)

Kicks off after Ivy has asked you for a spare secondary backup processor for over 10 times.

- Nice Rack!

Kicks off after picking up more than 20 magazines with Ivy in the vicinity.

How to recruit Ivy in a few minutes:

Introduction

Welcome to Companion Ivy 6.0!

Ivy was created with the greatest of care and dedication.
Over 4 years of development time went into creating a rich and full backstory that fits in the world and in the story line of Fallout. While she may at first glance appear to be a mindless sex puppet, she is far more than that!

Her 'mind' was created using real life psychological models, exploring childhood trauma, nihilism, existentialism and other psychological phenomenon. She draws upon a rich history of psychology as taught by Freud, Carl Jung and many other renowned clinical psychologists around the world. But next to that, she is also sexy as hell and delivers powerful lines with a comic punch that will make you smile, smirk, or cry every time she surprises you with a new line of dialogue as you travel the wasteland together.

Her psychological profile was created from three distinct personalities, which you as player will come to meet as you travel with her and get to know her better. Each personality fights for its own place within Ivy, making her a unique individual and one that is consistent in the world, based on real life psychological principles.

Always remember when talking to Ivy that she likes to use metaphors!

Ivy is a so called 'Prime Companion'.
You could also describe it as a 'Gold' companion.. what does this mean? It basically means she has a shitload of content. Much, much more than regular companions have and perhaps... maybe even the most content of any custom companion for any Bethesda game to date (the jury is still out on that one). At the time of writing all of her dialogue in all of her base mod and add-ons count for nearly 9500 lines of dialogue. But the current base mod has around 7000 lines of dialogue. In comparison, the player character has 12000 lines!

This means that she is meant to be used as a SINGLE FOLLOWER and has about as much content as a regular DLC sized add-on as released by Bethesda.

Ivy comes with many special functions, multiple quests (in new locations) and thousands of lines of dialogue, unique for each situation, location and quest. Her radio station offers trailers, music, news and weather reports. She comes with add-ons, DLC and other extras.

Consider Ivy to be a game-long quest.

Ivy needs a NEW GAME.

Meaning you, walking out of the vault, and recruiting her directly, to run with you through the game.

She was not designed to be recruited in a later/high level save. It will result losing a lot of content that's important. Her quests and affinity are designed to be built up from the moment you leave the Vault. This is an important distinction between regular followers. Ivy is like a long running quest, not a follower to fill the troupe of other followers with. If that's your thing, Ivy is not for you!

- You CAN dismiss her at any time to recruit other followers to get their perks.

- You CAN run with other companions and even use AFT. But you will lose support (see the AFT fact sheet in the spoiler below).

- Installing Ivy will not interfere technically with other custom companions, unless they overwrite vanilla assets and/or vanilla quests.

WARNING: Using Ivy with multi follower mods will result in lack of functionality for Ivy.
Ivy allows you to travel with Dogmeat as a secondary companion if you use a suitable mod to enable that functionality.

04 - Service Menu.txt

05 - Affinity.txt

05a - Affinty - Flirting & Arousal.txt

06 - Teleportation.txt

07 - Combat & HyperCombat.txt

Hyper Combat Attack Moves

Electric - Ivy teleports to combat target and drops an electric / flash grenade.

Forcepush - Ivy teleports to combat target and uses a concussive grenade, pushing combatants away.

Telefrag - Ivy teleports to combat target and re-emerges inside of them, thereby eviscerating them.

Grenade - Ivy teleports to combat target and drops a random type grenade.

Frenzy - Ivy teleports to combat target and whispers into their ear, making them frenzy.

FreeBird - Ivy does NOT teleport to the combat target. Instead she teleports them 500 meters up into the air so they free fall to their death.

DeathAbove - Dito as FreeBird.

Headpop - Ivy teleports random limbs from the body of the combatant.

Overkill - Ivy becomes panicked. Time slows down and she teleports towards up to 7 different combatants at a time, killing them all through telefrag attacks.

AWKR / Keyword mods

- If incompatibilities found, prefer AWKR in your load order (e.g. make sure it's loaded AFTER Ivy)

START ME UP / ALTERNATIVE START MODS

- Should work fine with 6.0, but you might miss some of Ivy's content during the initial quests.

How will affect her Outcast And Remnants, Project Valkyrie and Depravity?

- Ivy will work well with all of those mods, but you might lose any of her quest related content for quests that are skipped. None of these affect her affinity for you or the outcome of her own storyline. My advice is to 'try the artist vision' with a clean playthrough just with Ivy, then play her and integrate into any mod you'd like.

SCANNING

- Ivy sometimes SCANS too often. If it's bothering you, open the console and adjust the SCAN frequency:

Open the console, type 'set _ivy_scan_frequency' to 100 (disables her scanning)

Setting it to 0 makes her scan ALWAYS, so don't do that lol.

You can set it to 99 to only make her scan every so often.

See the Advanced Gameplay Guide below for more information on Ivy's Global Variables.

On the quest into the deep . Ivy never gave me the neural controller holotape . Ive check her inventory , mine , the chemistry workbench to see if i could craft one . I watch the video of the walk through well the first few seconds of it because i dont really want spoilers , but was at a loss of what the problem was and very early you get the received message and I never did .

I thought maybe it was because i had fast traveled away too soon so I rolled to a save a few minutes before and tried again this time waiting and still she didnt give me the holotape .

is there a console command to spawn it ?

Type: help neur 0 in the console. That should give you the ID for the holotape. Then you can use player.additem <id of the tape> to get it.

Need some help with the firmware upgrade.  Got the Quest, went to Concord, got the holotape, loaded it, says i need to get the decryption key, Ivy now has the quest marker over her head, but whenever i talk to her i just get the normal dialogue options, she doesn't update the quest telling me where to go to get the decryption key.

I have managed to screw myself up on the quest Into the Deep. I'm running with Horizon, which means that on "death" I'm respawned in a nearby settlement,. In the part of the quest where

Spoiler

I got attacked by a bunch of synths

,  that happened, and I ended up dragged out of that environment back out to the wasteland (with Debby in tow). Having managed to get healed up (not trivial in Horizon), I can't figure out a way to get back. My fallback plan is to try to revert to an older save, but I'm wondering if there is any alternative in this situation.

I figured out how to resolve my issue. For anyone needing a similar fix, the cell ID is 00ivysmind01. I also respawned Debby because that didn't bring her "in" with me, but that might have been a mistake as after completing this part I ended up with two Debbys...

Help with Firmware upgrade. I found the holotape and played it but I don't know how to install it. There's supposed to be a "Install hypercombat routines" at the end. As you can see there is none in mine

Same.  Got the Hypercombat and the Key... now she won't talk to me and the quest is still open.  I can't give them to her and the quest marker is still on Andrew Station but I've cleaned it out.

Could you do me  favor:

1) Post your mod load-order in a .txt file as attachment here?

2) Check the HyperCombat walkthrough video to see if you followed all the steps as outlined in the video?

I want to figure out what's wrong, but both myself nor the test team, have ever been able to reproduce this problem. Doing both things will help me greatly in figuring out which other mod is interfering with Ivy's quest so I can patch it.

Andrew Station? Do you mean it's on Ivy? The only quest pointer is towards med-tek facility, namely.

I got it to work properly by going back to an older save and redoing the quest.

Yeah, that was a mistake on my part.  Not even sure why the quest marker was on Andrew Station now... maybe something to do with Outcasts and Remnants.  Unfortunately, I was also having a problem with trying to use the Resurrection mod so I've torn down my game and am rebuilding a new LO.  I did check out the video and apparently I got all of that right but I'm guessing I did something else to fuck this up (I wound up with 3 Ivy controller holotapes).  I've gotta say... aside from the fact that she's super hot, Ivy's dialogue and story are extremely well written!  Literally the best I've seen in FO4 or SSE.  Fingers crossed I get to see more this time around.

I'm having the same problem in my game. How do I fix this? loading an old save is not an option for me.

Try going to Medtek, find a decryption key on the second floor and read that.

Hi,

First, let me thank you for the mod. I recently reinstalled my game and I was quite surprised by new version of Ivy (i used to have version 4, but i noticed there is 5 already :) )

However, i found a issue with body and clothing. Maybe somebody might help me. I am using custom JaneBod body (because it offers quite a lot of sliders and options how to customize your boy). Bad thing is that i cannot find armor and clothing that would fit. So i am manually converting armor pieces to fit my custom body. (I am not a pro, i dont know if I am doing it right or not, but the armor fits my and other characters prefectly in game, no skin going through the clothing).

But when i equip the armor (that would otherwise fit perfectly to my character) to Ivy, the armor is not fitted correctly, skin is showing through clothing on multiple places, etc. Basically, it looks like i did not edit it at all.

I tried several methods in Outfit studio, to export clothing with reference body, without, with active sliders, without...but nothing is working.

I don´t understand it, Ivy should use the same body as player, but the clothing doesnt fit her at all.

I attached two screenshots as an example (player seem to have bigger breasts, but is is just perspective). It is like this with all of the armors.

thank you for advice, and remember, i am not a modder :D so i really don't know what to do (or what not to do, probably i screwed up somewhere)

Sorry for the late reply, but you can always check in on our discord. There's some people there with some experience what those types of issues (if it hasn't been solved already!)

What are you guys talking about? I can see pictures, I can read about many things, locations, names but nothing is happening.

No mods, nothing, fresh install, just ivy as addon.

Fresh new game start. I repeat, no other mods, nothing.

And nothing happens except loss of many hours while reading no useful information:

"when reaching this point, the following should happen. If it does not happen, the following must be done to check if mod is loaded. For testing purposes, the following commands should be issued".

These are classic programming debug instructions specific to professionals which by some unfortunate mistake are missing from Ivy version 5.4. There should be some films on this topic - also missing. Their windows are gray, buttons do not work. Some other films are working but they talk about things that do not happen.

Because there's nowhere specified how to manually start, I determined this might be a great masterpiece which unfortunately is a total waste of 5 hours to get it working with no results due to improper configuration.

Please tell me how to manually start recruiting Ivy. There's no other radio signal when entering Sanctuary - after exiting the vault. What is the item name of her recruiting voucher? What is the name of the self explanatory recruiting quest and the first stage number? What is the console command to check if ivy is loaded - a 'show version' command should be enough?

Trial performed with and without F4SE - no success. Two approaches:  1. saved game before exiting the vault; 2. new game from beginning. Version is ivy 5.4 with pron mag addon. 5 hours wasted to get it working with no success.

Where did you get version 5.4 ? There is only 5.3 and soon there will be 6.+.

Greetings,

First I wish to apologise for the previous text. It was written after many hours of trying to get this working, while repeating that the respect for the amazing work is far greater than my anger (that's why by mistake I typed "4" instead of "3"). I wish I could get it working, but it is not. As an appreciation for the work, I did give up after 5 hours trying to get it running.

So the file name is "Companion Ivy 5.3 WITH Porn Mag Addon.7z" downloaded from google drive.

File sizes are as following:

- windows explorer says 415386 kB

- File size says "425 354 325" Bytes

- File size on disk for NTFS 512B sector size is "425 357 312" kB.

The archive extracts fine. There are no issues about any file corruption.

Base archive folder is  "Companion Ivy 5.3 WITH Porn Mag Addon\"

The files are as following:

Data\

Data\fomod\info.xml  570 Bytes

Data\CompanionIvy - Main.BA2  363697 kB

Data\CompanionIvy - Textures.BA2 54025 kB

Data\CompanionIvy.esm 3042 kB

Data\CompanionIvy_Mags - Main.ba2 32201 kB

Data\CompanionIvy_Mags - Textures.ba2 92179 kB

Data\CompanionIvy_Mags.esp 334 kB

Data\CompanionIvy_quest - Main.ba2 21284 kB

Data\CompanionIvy_quest - Meshes.ba2 1kB

Data\CompanionIvy_quest - Sounds.ba2 6093 kB

Data\CompanionIvy_quest - Textures.ba2 20883 kB

Data\CompanionIvy_quest.esp 841 kB

I am using Mod Organizer v2.3.2. I did not try any manual install but I will. In the mean time I am still trying to monitor the CPU registers - I switched to FreeBSD Oracle VirtualBox + Windows10 as guest - to search if Companion Ivy is loaded into RAM at game startup. F4 starts normal - there are 16 out of 32 CPU cores allocated for the virtual machine, there are 16GB RAM allocated, and video acceleration is at maximum. I start new game. Gameplay is not too good but I don't wish to play. I did this just for testing purpose but so far I am unable to determine where Companion Ivy section is loaded into RAM. If I do that, I can determine where to point the CPU instruction register and I can get that program piece to start running. When listing the game variables, I can determine the quest IDs and stage numbers (currently there's only one quest: "go home"), then I may be able to manually trigger Ivy quest start after loading the save game just before vault exiting - in a normal native game play, meaning no virtual machine - to skip starting the game from the beginning. I am not too good into game design (last game design I did was custom mapping in Unreal Single Player back in 1998) but I'm good in hardware design.

In the mean time, would you please enlighten me about how to manually start first quest?  Searching through RAM banks is real pain. The only answer was about a wrong number and that did not help at all.

Thank you.

If you use MO2, then your files can't be in the Data folder, they are in the MO2 folder. And you need to run the game, respectively, from MO2 with the F4SE file.

Alright. Done. It's not the fault of the Master - he made a wonderful masterpiece mod. Fallout 4 did not load anything into memory. Nothing except the original game data files.

So, ladies and gentlemen, I give you...

How to start Companion Ivy - for stupid people like me:

1. Modify My Documents\My Games\Fallout4Custom.ini

Add these lines if they do not exist:

[Archive]
bInvalidateOlderFiles=1
sResourceDataDirsFinal=STRINGS\, TEXTURES\, MUSIC\, SOUND\, INTERFACE\, MESHES\, PROGRAMS\, MATERIALS\, LODSETTINGS\, VIS\, MISC\, SCRIPTS\, SHADERSFX\, MODS\

2. Modify My Documents\My Games\Fallout4Prefs.ini

[Launcher]
bEnableFileSelection=1  <---- if it's zero, change it to 1.

Step 2 may not have any effect on Fallout 4 launcher. It does not always enable files selection, so we are going to do it hard core.

3. Unpack Companion Ivy archive to Fallout4\Data folder

4. Launch Fallout 4 game. In the game menu select "Mods". The game will ask you for Bethesda User and Password. On bottom of screen click on "Home) load order". If step 1 is done correctly, in the new screen, three of the Companion Ivy files should appear: CompanionIvy.esm, CompanionIvy_quest.esp, CompanionIvy_mags.esp" and their sizes. Make sure that you enable them - there should be an encircled "V" on the left side of each file. If there's no "encircled V", step 5 will not happen. When you exit to the previous screen, Fallout 4 will tell you the order of the files changed and it will have to reload all data files;

5. Load an early new game before exiting the vault. When you get close to Sanctuary, close to the bridge but without crossing it, somewhere near that bush in the right which asks you to harvest something, Ivy quest will automatically kick in: the game will ask you to tune your radio. You find ivy in Sanctuary behind the neighbor house of the player, in the cellar.

6. Open console and type "sqt"  (show quest targets). You will find this quest:  [MOD_ID]01A6A1.  [MOD_ID] is two hexadecimal digits and may be different for your PC. For my system, the redeem_ivy (don't remember correctly) quest ID is 0801A6A1.  Write down your specific ID. You may need it.

So you will be able to manually kickstart Companion Ivy later just like this:  setstage ID01A6A1 0

where ID is the mod ID identified as explained.  For example when I exit the vault I manually kickstart Companion Ivy like this:  setstage 0801A6A1 0

7. Have fun.

First of all Ivy is by far the best companion mod for Fallout 4 out there. I use Version 5.3 and have no problems so far. Just one thing is bothering me: Ivy's idles. Is there a possibility to change her idles?
