Technical Support

So it's not working as expected? Don't despair! We're here to help.

Post in this thread if you are in need of technical support with the mod.

Attached you will find the documentation for Ivy 5.0.

You can find this same documentation in game, in the NX-2C Controller Holotape.

Do not hesitate to ask any questions, should you have them!

Ivy's Affinity Quests

- HyperCombat!

Kicks off after speaking with Ivy and Ivy has engaged an enemy in combat more than 20 times.

- Into the Deep
Needs a minimum player level of 17. Kicks off several affinity levels after establishing a deeper love relationship with Ivy. (Affinity = 46. PL > 17)

- Robotic Assimilation
Kicks off once you reach affinity level 60+ with Ivy and speaking with Ivy.

- Ivy Goes to NukaWorld

Kicks off after finishing Into the Deep and Robotic Assimilation, and after NukaWorld has been unlocked (e.g. the NukaWorld radio signal can be found)

- Processing Power! (short quest)

Kicks off after Ivy has asked you for a spare secondary backup processor for over 10 times.

- Nice Rack!

Kicks off after picking up more than 20 magazines with Ivy in the vicinity.

How to recruit Ivy in a few minutes:

Introduction

Welcome to Companion Ivy 6.0!

Ivy was created with the greatest of care and dedication.
Over 4 years of development time went into creating a rich and full backstory that fits in the world and in the story line of Fallout. While she may at first glance appear to be a mindless sex puppet, she is far more than that!

Her 'mind' was created using real life psychological models, exploring childhood trauma, nihilism, existentialism and other psychological phenomenon. She draws upon a rich history of psychology as taught by Freud, Carl Jung and many other renowned clinical psychologists around the world. But next to that, she is also sexy as hell and delivers powerful lines with a comic punch that will make you smile, smirk, or cry every time she surprises you with a new line of dialogue as you travel the wasteland together.

Her psychological profile was created from three distinct personalities, which you as player will come to meet as you travel with her and get to know her better. Each personality fights for its own place within Ivy, making her a unique individual and one that is consistent in the world, based on real life psychological principles.

Always remember when talking to Ivy that she likes to use metaphors!

Ivy is a so called 'Prime Companion'.
You could also describe it as a 'Gold' companion.. what does this mean? It basically means she has a shitload of content. Much, much more than regular companions have and perhaps... maybe even the most content of any custom companion for any Bethesda game to date (the jury is still out on that one). At the time of writing all of her dialogue in all of her base mod and add-ons count for nearly 9500 lines of dialogue. But the current base mod has around 7000 lines of dialogue. In comparison, the player character has 12000 lines!

This means that she is meant to be used as a SINGLE FOLLOWER and has about as much content as a regular DLC sized add-on as released by Bethesda.

Ivy comes with many special functions, multiple quests (in new locations) and thousands of lines of dialogue, unique for each situation, location and quest. Her radio station offers trailers, music, news and weather reports. She comes with add-ons, DLC and other extras.

Consider Ivy to be a game-long quest.

Ivy needs a NEW GAME.

Meaning you, walking out of the vault, and recruiting her directly, to run with you through the game.

She was not designed to be recruited in a later/high level save. It will result losing a lot of content that's important. Her quests and affinity are designed to be built up from the moment you leave the Vault. This is an important distinction between regular followers. Ivy is like a long running quest, not a follower to fill the troupe of other followers with. If that's your thing, Ivy is not for you!

- You CAN dismiss her at any time to recruit other followers to get their perks.

- You CAN run with other companions and even use AFT. But you will lose support (see the AFT fact sheet in the spoiler below).

- Installing Ivy will not interfere technically with other custom companions, unless they overwrite vanilla assets and/or vanilla quests.

WARNING: Using Ivy with multi follower mods will result in lack of functionality for Ivy.
Ivy allows you to travel with Dogmeat as a secondary companion if you use a suitable mod to enable that functionality.

02 - Recruitment & Dismissal.txt

03 - Dialogue.txt

04 - Service Menu.txt

05 - Affinity.txt

05a - Affinty - Flirting & Arousal.txt

06 - Teleportation.txt

07 - Combat & HyperCombat.txt

Hyper Combat Attack Moves

Electric - Ivy teleports to combat target and drops an electric / flash grenade.

Forcepush - Ivy teleports to combat target and uses a concussive grenade, pushing combatants away.

Telefrag - Ivy teleports to combat target and re-emerges inside of them, thereby eviscerating them.

Grenade - Ivy teleports to combat target and drops a random type grenade.

Frenzy - Ivy teleports to combat target and whispers into their ear, making them frenzy.

FreeBird - Ivy does NOT teleport to the combat target. Instead she teleports them 500 meters up into the air so they free fall to their death.

DeathAbove - Dito as FreeBird.

Headpop - Ivy teleports random limbs from the body of the combatant.

Overkill - Ivy becomes panicked. Time slows down and she teleports towards up to 7 different combatants at a time, killing them all through telefrag attacks.

AWKR / Keyword mods

- If incompatibilities found, prefer AWKR in your load order (e.g. make sure it's loaded AFTER Ivy)

START ME UP / ALTERNATIVE START MODS

- Should work fine with 6.0, but you might miss some of Ivy's content during the initial quests.

How will affect her Outcast And Remnants, Project Valkyrie and Depravity?

- Ivy will work well with all of those mods, but you might lose any of her quest related content for quests that are skipped. None of these affect her affinity for you or the outcome of her own storyline. My advice is to 'try the artist vision' with a clean playthrough just with Ivy, then play her and integrate into any mod you'd like.

SCANNING

- Ivy sometimes SCANS too often. If it's bothering you, open the console and adjust the SCAN frequency:

Open the console, type 'set _ivy_scan_frequency' to 100 (disables her scanning)

Setting it to 0 makes her scan ALWAYS, so don't do that lol.

You can set it to 99 to only make her scan every so often.

See the Advanced Gameplay Guide below for more information on Ivy's Global Variables.

Downloaded this mod with Frost, managed to get her at level 6, and now at lvl 13, when I checked Ivy's affinity using getav ca_affinity, it showed it's at zero.

Is this a bug? or is Ivy's affinity system different then other companions? Only mod that I'm using that affects companions is the Better Companions mod and AAF

Yes she has her own internal counters for everything. See the technical documentation blog for all of them.

Not sure where you are precisely. Usually it means you missed to 'commit memory' in a holotape you picked up, or a terminal on the wall.

Thanks for the for quick reply i started a new game and disabled some of my mods that might be causing the problem ,the controller in the mcm said some of my mods could cause issues ,i still have aaf installed, i will load my old save and see if i missed commit to memory in one of the terminals as you said. This mod is Awesome so well done that if i have to remove AAF i will ,thanks again for your help.

Why is it that when I try to give her the voucher, the dialouge wheel switches to I believe German and I cant give it to her?

Link to comment

Maybe it's only on me, but since I both have Nuka Ride and Ivy installed, the 'Ivy goes to nukaworld' quest just can't start.

Ivy just kept saying that 'Hey I want to talk to you 'bout the nukaworld.',but no dialogue box came after. And when I press E back to her, all just normal.

I've tried talking to her while in nukaworld's entrance, Roboco Fighting Plaza and even Stein's hideout, but nothing changed.

I do also have XDI installed with ivy's patch, but that shouldn't be a problem...or would it?

Any help will be in huge thanks and welcome!

Something in your load order screwed? There is no german in Ivy. :D

Yes. Check your load order. Move Ivy's nuka world plugin around in your load order. The quest is now bugged in any case so you want to disable the nukaworld plugin, load and save your game, then re-enable it, then it should start normally (IF your load order is correct).

So I just started a new game, thanks to the release of Sim Settlements 2 Chapter 3, and the first thing I did was go get Ivy. She's been mostly fine, but won't talk in conversations with other characters anymore. For example when you're in Concord helping out Preston's group and you're in the conversation with him and Sturges about the power armor, she doesn't have any lines for whatever reason. The main difference between now and my previous game is that I installed some AAF mods like Violate and the Real Sex Ivy mod.

I would look there for a culprit.

Also I don't recommend to combine Ivy with SS2. Both mods are script heavy and together it's often proved too much for testers. I have separate profiles for Ivy and SS2 playthroughs and I advice anyone to do the same.

Thanks for the quick reply. Don't know what exactly changed as I haven't changed much, but it seems to be working again. As an aside, I am curious, could you elaborate when you say it was too much for testers. It may explain why in my previous run, I never got any of her quests.

Help!
After I installed Sim Settlements 2, Ivy lost her voice.  Subtitles run, but not her voice.  Not all of her voice, sometimes she still says "hey" or "your wish is my command". Then last night she said some Bethesda line in a Bethesda voice.   When dismissed, all available lines seem to work.
I tried reinstalling her, moving her to the end of the load order so she'd win any conflicts (confirmed in xEdit and she doesn't have any unexpected), rolled back to a pre SS2 save, ran the resets in her holotape.
The only thing I found that work is rolling all the way back to before we left Ivy's room.  That works even with my current load order.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Link to comment

Well, thanks anyway.  I rolled back to the newest save where she still talked.  Lost ~5 hours.  2 if I speed run to get back to where I was.  We'll see if it happens again.    Thanks again.

I need some help. Ivy wasn't starting the next quest (Into the Deep) so i decided to read a little on the forum to see if i was missing some trigger, noticed that she should had already started the next quest. I have the level and affinity necessary (Print 4)

I was using two mods that gave a compatibility issue (Unlimited companion framework and the animation one AAF), i recruited Ivy first then anyone, then rocked with her and Dogmeat till i got Ada and couldn't dismiss ada, but anyway.

I did the hyperdrive quest and upgraded her, also did the misc quest to get her sugar bombs or a gum, did the what a rack with the magazines, but never trigged the into the deep. Tried removing those two conflicts and started a new game, but it still gave the error message from print 2. Tried re-enabling the sleep with others, did a kill Raider quest and sleept 24 hours just to be sure if maybe was something there.

Prbly i just installed wrong, but i dunno how or where i messed up. Tried checking the console help to see if i could find the quest id from "into the deep" but didn't manage to find nothing (print 5), i saw that there is something about her codename on the gang being mercy and 10 journals from another quest, those either didn't show in the help command either.

I read two people with the same issue, one here (Jesus) and one in the "Walkthroughs & Gameplay Help" so i checked the esp that you said
Now i don't really know how to see it, since there isn't a mods in the launcher like skyrim, but it is listed in the .txt. (Print 6)

I just dragged the rar's file into the Vortex and thought it was working, maybe the install process is where i fucked up?

I removed and deleted the files and re-installed them through Vortex and didn't lose anything with her (Same looks, itens, affinity and etc), i guess it shouldn't stay if i deleted and reinstall? Also tried soft and hard reseting,, talking with her inbetween five to ten times in different instances and sleeping 1 hour to 24 hours to see if it would trigger, nothing. Didn't find the option mentioned in the holotape about skipping  to the quest.

Oh and i read something about the dialogue interfaces being a problem in 5.0, i don't know if it still is, but i'm using one (Full Dialogue Interface), didn't mention as a issue, but just to be safe. How should i install the 6.0 manually if it is the problem? Or how do i make sure the esp is working?

And a sidenote, i really think your mod is better then the game as a whole. Didn't finish, actually barely started the mod history-wise, so i can't confirm, but just the quantity of life Ivy brings to the game, constant contextual dialogue, everytime i talk to her i think "now she will start repeating lines", and no, there is always something new.
The VA is amazing, the audio quality is superb, the scripting is top notch, she never once said something about the wrong place or at the wrong time, she sits when idle or safezones, interacts with the environment, her combat is awesome and while a tidy op at times, that's what you get when you are free to use the world system. Teleport is OP, if the institute didn't abuse it's their problem. Everytime she calls me to talk i go since i know she won't be repeating the same 10 lines.

(Uploaded the imgs twice by mistake, deleted and corrected
Nvm, it seems the imgs go big, trying to put them into spoiler to it doesn't flood more then necessary but i'm stupid and don't know how.)

So hi, I'm in a need of help. I have done Ivy's hypercombat quest, and played the game so much that we are in love with each other. I have done a quest about a misbehaving customer, but the quest into the deep hasn't started and I have been playing for quite a while for now

She will ask 10 times for a spare secondary processor during your travels with her. Just wait until she kicks off the quest.

Equip Ivy with the autoclean unit to make her not be all bloody after hypercombat attacks.

i got the quest and it leads to crator of atoms in glowing sea, but i still dunno what is it or where is it the secondary backup processor..theres no clue or anything...i tried search everyway near the crator even talk to all npc there but nothing...did i miss something or did something wrong? this is my 1st time using her btw (new game)

There is the ruins of an old factory near the large impact crater - where the "Children of the Atom" reside.

I found what I was looking for there because of the “processor”.

Another potential location is an underground car park or a buried parking garage... in the "Glowing Sea"

However, there should be a quest pointer - which will lead you to the location.

But there are mods that change the "Glowing Sea" in some places... that can lead to problems.

i have a question i feel dumb for having to ask but alas better safe then sorry . I have 6.0 installed and have completed her story line . Is it safe to upgrade to 6.1? or will that need a whole new play through ? . The reason i ask is i have not done much on the main story yet, certainly not anything in the insitute and if i understand 6.1 adds or fixes insititue dialogue so i dont want to miss out .

Completely safe. 6.1 is a very minor patch that just fixes some missing assets and voice lines.

Thanks for replying,

Will try searching the places you've mentioned...

About the quest pointer, it only lead me to the Crator of Atoms where the CoA reside in Glowing Sea when i look in pipboy.....but when i reach there theres nothing further info about it im searching blind...

For mods that touch Glowing Sea for me are only Vivid Fallout and Shroom Forest tho thats just retext and a tree mod imo not sure if that would conflict but i doubt it since in xedit no conlict in it....

But ur reply atleast give me a clue of something for it thanks a lot!
