Technical Support

So it's not working as expected? Don't despair! We're here to help.

Post in this thread if you are in need of technical support with the mod.

Attached you will find the documentation for Ivy 5.0.

You can find this same documentation in game, in the NX-2C Controller Holotape.

Do not hesitate to ask any questions, should you have them!

Ivy's Affinity Quests

- HyperCombat!

Kicks off after speaking with Ivy and Ivy has engaged an enemy in combat more than 20 times.

- Into the Deep
Needs a minimum player level of 17. Kicks off several affinity levels after establishing a deeper love relationship with Ivy. (Affinity = 46. PL > 17)

- Robotic Assimilation
Kicks off once you reach affinity level 60+ with Ivy and speaking with Ivy.

- Ivy Goes to NukaWorld

Kicks off after finishing Into the Deep and Robotic Assimilation, and after NukaWorld has been unlocked (e.g. the NukaWorld radio signal can be found)

- Processing Power! (short quest)

Kicks off after Ivy has asked you for a spare secondary backup processor for over 10 times.

- Nice Rack!

Kicks off after picking up more than 20 magazines with Ivy in the vicinity.

How to recruit Ivy in a few minutes:

Introduction

Welcome to Companion Ivy 6.0!

Ivy was created with the greatest of care and dedication.
Over 4 years of development time went into creating a rich and full backstory that fits in the world and in the story line of Fallout. While she may at first glance appear to be a mindless sex puppet, she is far more than that!

Her 'mind' was created using real life psychological models, exploring childhood trauma, nihilism, existentialism and other psychological phenomenon. She draws upon a rich history of psychology as taught by Freud, Carl Jung and many other renowned clinical psychologists around the world. But next to that, she is also sexy as hell and delivers powerful lines with a comic punch that will make you smile, smirk, or cry every time she surprises you with a new line of dialogue as you travel the wasteland together.

Her psychological profile was created from three distinct personalities, which you as player will come to meet as you travel with her and get to know her better. Each personality fights for its own place within Ivy, making her a unique individual and one that is consistent in the world, based on real life psychological principles.

Always remember when talking to Ivy that she likes to use metaphors!

Ivy is a so called 'Prime Companion'.
You could also describe it as a 'Gold' companion.. what does this mean? It basically means she has a shitload of content. Much, much more than regular companions have and perhaps... maybe even the most content of any custom companion for any Bethesda game to date (the jury is still out on that one). At the time of writing all of her dialogue in all of her base mod and add-ons count for nearly 9500 lines of dialogue. But the current base mod has around 7000 lines of dialogue. In comparison, the player character has 12000 lines!

This means that she is meant to be used as a SINGLE FOLLOWER and has about as much content as a regular DLC sized add-on as released by Bethesda.

Ivy comes with many special functions, multiple quests (in new locations) and thousands of lines of dialogue, unique for each situation, location and quest. Her radio station offers trailers, music, news and weather reports. She comes with add-ons, DLC and other extras.

Consider Ivy to be a game-long quest.

Ivy needs a NEW GAME.

Meaning you, walking out of the vault, and recruiting her directly, to run with you through the game.

She was not designed to be recruited in a later/high level save. It will result losing a lot of content that's important. Her quests and affinity are designed to be built up from the moment you leave the Vault. This is an important distinction between regular followers. Ivy is like a long running quest, not a follower to fill the troupe of other followers with. If that's your thing, Ivy is not for you!

- You CAN dismiss her at any time to recruit other followers to get their perks.

- You CAN run with other companions and even use AFT. But you will lose support (see the AFT fact sheet in the spoiler below).

- Installing Ivy will not interfere technically with other custom companions, unless they overwrite vanilla assets and/or vanilla quests.

WARNING: Using Ivy with multi follower mods will result in lack of functionality for Ivy.
Ivy allows you to travel with Dogmeat as a secondary companion if you use a suitable mod to enable that functionality.

01- Introduction (See above)

02 - Recruitment & Dismissal.txt

03 - Dialogue.txt

04 - Service Menu.txt

05 - Affinity.txt

05a - Affinty - Flirting & Arousal.txt

06 - Teleportation.txt

07 - Combat & HyperCombat.txt

Hyper Combat Attack Moves

Electric - Ivy teleports to combat target and drops an electric / flash grenade.

Forcepush - Ivy teleports to combat target and uses a concussive grenade, pushing combatants away.

Telefrag - Ivy teleports to combat target and re-emerges inside of them, thereby eviscerating them.

Grenade - Ivy teleports to combat target and drops a random type grenade.

Frenzy - Ivy teleports to combat target and whispers into their ear, making them frenzy.

FreeBird - Ivy does NOT teleport to the combat target. Instead she teleports them 500 meters up into the air so they free fall to their death.

DeathAbove - Dito as FreeBird.

Headpop - Ivy teleports random limbs from the body of the combatant.

Overkill - Ivy becomes panicked. Time slows down and she teleports towards up to 7 different combatants at a time, killing them all through telefrag attacks.

AWKR / Keyword mods

- If incompatibilities found, prefer AWKR in your load order (e.g. make sure it's loaded AFTER Ivy)

START ME UP / ALTERNATIVE START MODS

- Should work fine with 6.0, but you might miss some of Ivy's content during the initial quests.

How will affect her Outcast And Remnants, Project Valkyrie and Depravity?

- Ivy will work well with all of those mods, but you might lose any of her quest related content for quests that are skipped. None of these affect her affinity for you or the outcome of her own storyline. My advice is to 'try the artist vision' with a clean playthrough just with Ivy, then play her and integrate into any mod you'd like.

SCANNING

- Ivy sometimes SCANS too often. If it's bothering you, open the console and adjust the SCAN frequency:

Open the console, type 'set _ivy_scan_frequency' to 100 (disables her scanning)

Setting it to 0 makes her scan ALWAYS, so don't do that lol.

You can set it to 99 to only make her scan every so often.

See the Advanced Gameplay Guide below for more information on Ivy's Global Variables.

No worries @Bluegunk That's what we are here for. For the Love of Ivy!

We're all just Gamers helping other gamers enjoy their game.

Hey, @Reginald_001 I can easily report that  AWKR / Keyword mods have ZERO incompatibilities with Ivy. I've had AWKR installed since day zero and Ivy 4 and all during my testing. I use and give her things from that mod all the time. I've never noticed an issue

I am removing the overrides in 5.2. and will use script to add the keywords, so it should be 100% compatible with any AWKR/Keyword mods from there on in. It's just there for a little easter egg anyway, e.g. 1 line of dialogue. :)

I've found a slight issue with the system for preventing Ivy from being re-scaled. After reading about it I changed her scale deliberately to see what comments she made but then, rather than returning to her original size, she shot up to about twice her original size and the smaller I tried making her, the large she got when trying to scale back up again.

Also, I'm not sure if this has already been addressed, but would it be possible to add some sort of cool-down or limiter to Ivy's random comments and stories? They're all great but it did get a bit annoying and immersion breaking when I got the story about Debby and Jack getting kidnapped by the neighbour three times in a row while trying listen to all of Dr.Stein's logs.

So I just re-discovered this little gem of a mod (still running Ivy 4.0) and I'm considering doing another Fallout 4 replay just for the sake of Ivy 5.0 (because that's a long list of new stuff compared to 4.0).

If anyone can answer them, I got a few questions before I start;

1. first, should I wait for 5.2? It sounds pretty close, but is there a rough ETA?

2. will there be a major gameplay difference between Ivy 5.0 and 6.0? 6.0 sounds like polishing of the engine below, but if any big quests and gameplay changes are considered it could be a reason to replay her later in the year.

3. does anyone know if Ivy 5.1 behaves with Unlimited Companion Framework? I read the issues with Multiple Companion mods, but those mentioned seem to work differently and break the game in various different ways compared to UCF (not a modder, just basing this on complaints and buglists). I know UCF is an older mod, but it has worked flawlessly for me for over a couple of hundred hours now (in fact it works so well I'm very reluctant to use other MC-mods at all).

4. how important is it to start on a clean (mod free) save? Over time I compiled a very stable mod list (296 mods working in harmony), but quite a few of those are dependent on being installed from the very startup of the game. Starting a new clean save and loading all of them on top of that is finicky business at best and downright sketchy at its worst.

Other than that I just want to say that Ivy is an awesome mod which I enjoyed immensely. Although I once installed her as a bit of a joke (to much 'sex-bot' for anything serious) I find that over time she showed a lot more depth and character than any of the vanilla companions (and most of the modded companions out there). Thanks for all the hard work you put into this mod to bring her to life!

1 Nah, just play and enjoy 5.1. 5.2 is still with reg and not even given to testing

2. ... OK, 5.2 MAY have more quests, Bugs fixes and polish for sure. 6 is the new VA, That's for @Reginald_001 to announce

3 two part answer. A no multi follower mod is supported at this time. Same with Ivy 4. B) I've used Unlimited Companion Framework many many times with Ivy 4 with small dialogue drops. NOT supported but you do you

4.  VERY does your save have Ivy 4? if no then rock on... ish maybe I honestly don't know, but think you're good, we just cant have old Ivy 4 Scripts there. I'll leave it to those who know better to correct me If I'm wrong. if yes then sorry a MUST

End point, TBH me too, I was like fuck yea, sexbot and was blown away by her depth and character. She quickly became my reason to keep up with FO4 and even start talking on forums. Ivy is a God tier waifu and Mod

Feel free to ask any more questions I appreciate the list format

Thanks for the answers. ?

Ivy 4.0 worked seemingly without a loss of function with Unlimited Companion Framework. I think because UCF treats every companion as the main companion (and yes, that sometimes means multiple companions commenting on something simultaneously). But I'll just disable it for the time being and just go for an Ivy only run until Ivy 5.2 becomes available.

As for the clean save; I do understand the problems with an Ivy 4.0 save (so the necessity for a new game restart), but somewhere in the instructions it is mentioned you need to install her on a total fresh newly started game save (without ANY mods on it) for her to work properly. If that last part is a necessity I have quite a few mods I wouldn't be able to run safely as they require to be present from the very start of the game for optimum stability.

Other than that, no more questions. I guess I'll boot up a Ivy 5.1 run than. ?

So start clean with those mods. SAVE and exit that install Ivy 5 and have fun

reginald_001  Thank your for answer over on ivys page, my 3rd new game i noticed that the only magazine which spawned in same spot was at thicket. and on this 3rd new game i did not take ivy with me when i did the arcjet quest with danse and she stopped using hypercombat still. but until that point it works perfect when we get into combat shes all over the place. i might start a new again and avoid the bos,  and see what happens.

Around BoS she disables her Teleporter (and HC) as they'd want to kill her or study her. That is normal. she only uses HC when hostile to the Brotherhood

@kchurchjr I understand that. the issue for me anyway is she never turns it back on again after the  quest to arc jet. this is my 3rd game first 2 she was with me, the 3rd she wasn't  when i did that quest

@Reginald_001  another quick question about the magazines, so  I know now only the one at thicket spawns in same place, but i have noticed that trash cans safes , metal boxes I've checked that had none in them, do now later in the game  and getting some duplicates  is that normal.  i enjoy looking for these magazines . i am just curious

Yes, they spawn randomly in such containers and if the containers are set to 'respawn' then they might refill.

after re reading your response, your saying since i'm friendly with bos she keeps it off?  I was under the impression that she turns it off  when in the LOS of any BOS . and back on again when we leave, she did that for me during the first play through one time. turned it off near camebridge, and when i got close to beantown brewery she turned it back on. but only did that once.

If your Friendly it stays off Near the BoS, If not it's time to Rip n Tear

A) If I'm reading this correctly (All on me. I've a LONG day Few weeks at work.)

You go to cambridge, Teleport and HC are off, Leave Cambridge, Back on? off all during Fire Support? With Pali Danse. AFTER he's gone. Teleport and HC turn back on. If all this is correct then that's Ivy being normal.

B) IF you are simply passing by Cambridge, During Danse's intro Quest, or later the Pridwen She turns them off and DOESN'T turn Teleport and HC back on we got problems. I've play tested her no less than 5 times quests 10 each (reloaded saves)d have never had an issue with her not turning those features back on.

If A. all is good and normal, Bae doesn't want the BoS to know who and what she is

If B. All is NOT Good. Drop your LO maybe you papyrus script log (if enabled*) and we'll look it over.

*if you don't know how to do so just say so and we gotcha

I hope that answer was alot more in depth then my last answer. Sorry, Like I said. Been real busy at work

Sorry. Just got around to reading all this.

I had the same problem with Ivy's HC and teleport. I understood that she would shut it off in the presence of the BoS if I became friendly with them. But when not in their vicinity she still wouldn't use HC or teleport. Even after I became an enemy of the BoS she still wouldn't engage HC or teleport. I would have to manually teleport her to me.

Yes, currently, the conditionals in the scene check for 2 conditions, Danse should be less than 14k units away or the BosJoined global is set to 1 (eg. Player accepted to join the Bos after the ArcJet quest). This will be fixed in the 5.2 update. The problem is; you can't override it in the console, because it's checked quite often.

Hi

Not sure if this is the right place for this question, but here goes.

Firstly, really enjoying the mod! I started a new runthrough just for this and it is so worth it.

Unfortunately it feels like I am stuck. I have been through the sub-conscious section, "Into the Deep" worked through all the memory tapes and got to the point where I have to 'Talk to Mercy'. I start the conversation, and she makes her first speech, ending ...until you came along. Then it just stops. I guess I am supposed to respond with some dialogue? But I don't get that option. It just leaves them both staring at each other.

Any thoughts?

I do have a few other mods loaded, but nothing that affects dialogue etc. I have Def-UI 1.5.1 running, but I haven't had any other problems.

Your ideas would be welcome, or even a console tweak to make the quest move forward?

Thanks,

K

In todays dev round I have removed the check for the BOS completely for 5.2. In 6.0 it will be implemented properly. With all of the development going on and the type of testing done, it was a bit of an oversight to implement it this way. I distinctly remember setting up a control quest for it so she checks for Bos distances properly, but I guess I did that during one of the dev-cycles where the CK crashed on me and the work was lost. That, OR the Mandela effect.. :P
