WaxenFigure Posted April 3, 2018 Posted April 3, 2018 SKSE64 now busted. Bethesda decided to update SkyrimSE.exe. Looks like we've had a setback for now.

What's the best way to disable updates before an update gets installed, when you haven't yet disabled updates? Edit: I found this - Edit <steam install folder>Steamapps/appmanifest*.acf (looking inside to determine which is sse) and change AutoUpdateBehavior to 1. Has anyone used this before?

Just roll back to the previous skyrimse.exe and stuff still works. Every time there is an update this happens until skse64 catches up.

Slammer64 Posted April 3, 2018 Posted April 3, 2018 Some people got caught with their pants down, I was able to help Vuulgar since I had the entire installation backed up, if anyone needs a backup copy of the exec, hollar at me..

See screen - same as Skyrim and FO4 - Right click on the game in your library - select Properties - change that 1st drop down to only update when started in Steam - Then only use SKSE64 loader to start the game - NOTE: Make sure Steam is already running in the background BEFORE starting SKSE or it will start Steam for you and go in to auto update again! Job done.

WaxenFigure Posted April 3, 2018 Posted April 3, 2018 I haven't had auto-updating in over five years now but if you got caught by this update because you failed to turn it off: https://www.reddit.com/r/skyrimmods/comments/7bdzz1/skyrim_se_is_just_updated_so_skse64_is_blocked_now/ There's some instructions there on how to get the Steam to give you back the old version. Edit, Added the instructions here: press win+R, paste: steam://nav/console in steam console, paste: download_depot 489830 489833 911281757511576655 the v1.5.3 exe will download to [...]steamapps/content/app_489830/depot_489833 You can then copy that back over the SkyrimSE.exe but turn off auto updates in Steam first.
Slammer64 Posted April 3, 2018 Posted April 3, 2018 Never knew about that one, thanks for the info...

Every time there is an update this happens until skse64 catches up. Keep in mind that only works if the exe is all that's changed. Bethesda has started to change the base game scripts, "Updating script functions for new Creations", meaning any non CC mod that relies on these can break.

I recently switched from win7 to win10 and forgot to set up download updates in steam when I reinstalled it. SSE was already updated when I got home. Thanks for the steam console trick.

Kristus Kringle Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 Yep, SexLabUtil.dll causes a CTD on game start.
DoubleTrouble999 Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 You have to wait for all mods that have SKSE dependent dlls to be updated for new SKSE
accounr unknown Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 Same here. The sexlab plugin for SKSE64 is causing a CTD on game boot. Word is that the simply knock dll has the same problem.
JimKhan Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 Yeah, it happened to me today. We have to wait. Patience boys, I'm sure the people here will do a terrific job at it.
shiagwen Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 i still cant understand why everybody is so hot for SE. Without any mod, vanilla fresh from steam, i get brown shadows and i am not the only one. my brtother on his pc too, a lot in the Bethesda and Nexus Forums too. until anybody is able to excplain the Brown shadow and how to make it a real shadow, i wouldnt touch SE . further the face textures in SE are worse than vanilla skyrim. my face texture in skyrim "Beauty faces" is very old, keeps the oroiginal expressions from the character and npc and does not make a Disney Sms PuppetShow out of sjyrim as all other face textures do. this Beauty faces mod does not work in SE, it cant make the ugly faces there Beauty. Additional most mods are abandoned and the authors wont make a SE Version. Skyrim is pretty dead and the SE makes an ugly Zombie out of it, Tell me the way how to paint that Zombie Beauty, tell me a way that we went 6 years modding , all mod Research, all mod cmpabilities and incompabailities, everything again, for what ? Brown shadows ?`thanks

If you don't like SE, fine, but there are people here who want to support it, your comment was completely uncalled for. You'd better show these people some respect instead of vent on them. 9
IceFox Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 Good afternoon. Does not start with a new one SKSE 2.07 (
weirdbisexboii Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 Glad to see my new Italian translation was included into this build ^.^

SE is gradually making progress with the script extender and contrary to popular believe a fair amount of mods are being ported and some mods are even better than their Oldrim counterparts. As to the brown shadows you mention, I haven't seen hide nor tail of graphical glitches. Might have to do with your specs. There's a point where you're just a holdout.
