The bald head points to possible installation error(s), the game isn't finding the nif, at least that's what it was for me.  dint has multiple folders to sort out and may require the SMP SSE patch for the right xmls.  (If you don't already have it, I've lost the link but it's out here).  Not sure what your Yundao problems might be, but could be related. 

 

The hdtSSEPhysics.log doesn't track anything that doesn't actually appear in-game.  A SKSE folder with this log should have appeared in MO2's Overwrite on first run of hdtFramework and Physics.  Right-clicking that file and creating a mod called something like 'hdt SMP logs' should get you a per game log (esp. the Physics log).  If that didn't happen, you might try removing and reinstalling it, not sure.

BTW, rather than use Racemenu to add items or change wigs, AddItemMenu -nexus- is Very Highly Recommended.

The YunDao hairs are equippable wigs, not selectable in Racemenu AFAIK. So are the Dint999 Hair Pack and the KS SMP Wigs and every other physics hair in SSE. That is because SSE/SMP does not support Hair physics so in order to get it we have to use wigs and call them Helmets, or sometimes Circlets or whatever.

 

I would be interested in hearing how you are (apparently, if I'm understanding your post correctly) selecting wigs as hairdos in Racemenu-SE. :astonished: I carry them around in my inventory and just equip them in-game.

Well, then... perhaps I made a flawed assumption. ? I hadn't actually opened up the esp and looked... I simply assumed they were hairs. And every time I go past the vanilla hairs in Racemenu I CTD. Soooo... apparently I have another CTD issue to identify that I thought I already knew the source of. Hrrrrmmm.... need to open up the hair list and see what's after the vanilla hairs.

Yup, using AddItemMenu already. 'Tis how I got the Dint999 wigs to test them. And I made a flawed assumption about the Yundao hairs... apparently my CTD is completely unrelated. I also already have the HDT logs (and anything else skyrim saves to the data folder while running) going to a mod in MO. Didn't have that feature last time I used MO... but it sure is nifty having it now. Don't have to clean out the overwrite folder after every game.

I thought installation issue too, but a quick check and I didn't see anything obvious. Was hoping to get logs to give me a direction to look in. I'll keep picking at it. Got a different problem I'm trying to solve atm. ::grabs his wack-a-mole mallet::

Right now I'm simply testing the limits of what I can accomplish. If it ends up dropping my FPS too much I'll back off on it. ::shrug:: really not that big a deal. I certainly don't expect there to not be an FPS drop. I realize you've probably had plenty of people come through whining about it. I sympathize. But I'm not one of those. That's kinda why I've been a little on the arrogant side... i'm trying to ward off all the "aww look at da little noob... isn't he precious? let's walk him through the basics..." babying that wastes far too much time. I'm not a veteran mod maker like some... perhaps even many... people here. But I've been making NetImmersive/Gamebryo and it's descendants do my bidding for more than two decades... I get by. You don't have to assume the worst of me just cause my post count is low.

ikr sucks i have wayy too many skse dependent mods to revert, just to convert again when everything is updated. Ill be playing oldrim until then.

I hate to be the bearer of ill tidings, but Steamn didn't change your settings back- you must have bypassed "update only when I launch the game" by hitting your skse64_loader.exe shortcut without Steam already running first, relying on the skse launcher to launch Steam for you.... which causes the skse loader to start Steam first and pass it the "launch game" command, which makes Steam launch the game via the vanilla launcher, triggering the game launch event that triggered the update. :classic_angry:

 

It's an incredibly-easy error to make (I have done it twice) which is why I use triply-redundant backup-blocking strategies- if my dumb ass bypasses one, the other two still stop the update. Here is my proven strategy, proven by the fact that I am still on 1.5.62 / 2.0.12 and have not missed one second of game play due to CC (Crapware Content) updates):

 

How to  block SSE updates from the Steam Library:

  • {Right-click on TESV: Skyrim Special Edition} >> Properties >> Updates >> "Only update this game when I launch it" then never again use the Bethesda vanilla SSE launcher
       
  • Steam >> Settings >> Downloads >> Only update games between {set a one-hour period when your computer is NEVER turned on} I set 6:00-7:00 AM
       
  • Steam >> Go Offline ("Restart Steam in Offline Mode?") >> {"Yes, dumbass, or I wouldn't have told you to do it"} and never put Steam back online until you absolutely have to, i.e. you are ready to update the game

Any one of the three methods above will prevent SSE from updating- the other two are for when I screw up and launch the game at 6:15 AM or whatever.

After you have set the above 3 blocking parameters, make sure Steam is already running first, then launch your game via skse64_loader.exe. DO NOT rely on skse64_loader.exe to launch Steam for you because doing that causes the game to be launched via the vanilla launcher, triggering the game launch event that overrides the first step above. The easiest strategy is to set Steam to launch when you log on to Windows (at boot).

 

I have also made a mini-guide on reverting/installing any version of SSE you want. Let me know if you need that so you can revert to the game and SKSE that support the version of SMP that you currently have so you can play the game again.

Ok then, did some more looking. I do, in fact, have Yundao's and Dint999's wigs installed correctly. I even opened up the esp for each to see where exactly it's looking for the nif files... and the nif files for both are in the correct location. Triple checked for typos. Bupkis. I can confirm that hdt-smp is being loaded by skse64, and that hdt-smp is now producing logs... but nothing indicating the cause of this problem.

 

It's late and I'm not sure where to look next. So I'm calling it a night.

P.S. I realize this is not really a support thread. Should I take my troubles with hdt-smp elsewhere?

Not sure if this is a step forwards or a step backwards. But:

So what I did was edit the Wig 16 blackred in the CK and add khajiitrace and khajiitracevampire to the base model. So now when I equip it, I'm not suddenly bald.


However, as you can see, parts of the mesh aren't rendering (bangs, fringe, and braids). And I'll bet money those are the parts with SMP features. But HTD-SMP gave me something useful in the logs... sorta:

.... Okay... that's... a lot. I'm not sure what's relevant to the issue here. And from what @fritzfried said, at a minimum most of this is completely normal for these packs. Anyone have an idea what might actually be relevant here?

 

EDIT: Also, just to ensure HDT-SMP is working at all... I tried out Sovereign's Slayer Armor HDT SMP SE and Grandmaster Ursine Armour HDT SMP SE. The physics enabled portions of both armors work just fine.

 

EDIT2: Hmm... made the same fix to one of YunDao's wigs and it works prefect with physics as well. So it's something to do with my install of Dint's wigs. Strange... since I made a point to get them and the SMP patch for them direct from his discord, Also a shame, I like some of the styles in the Dint's pack a lot more than anything in YunDao's.
