Darkening Demise Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 Just curious since people say they're quality over quantity compared to the big boys like McDonald's and Wendy's. People keep going on and on about how its like the real life Krabby Patty and stuff and blah blah blah. So anyways you ever try their stuff? Is it any good? (I hate Michigan we got nothing)
Leito86 Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 Whataburger is pretty good. I'd go for it over McD or BK, but then again I'd go for any burger joint over those two. Didn't give In-and-Out a try when I was living in Dallas unfortunately...
jap2015 Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 Both are better than the big boys you mentioned (IMHO). In Ca. In-N-Out seems favored. In Tex. it's Whataburger. I like both, but they're not my favorite. I like Fatburger in Ca. as far as fastfood chains
GimmeBACON Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 In-N-Out honestly isn't that much better then Wendy's... If you want a good burger go to Five Guys, it can get expensive, but it's worth it.
srayesmanll Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 Definitely What-A-Burger over In-n-Out. Was not impressed with their (InO) burgers at all. The only thing I liked was the way the did the onions (big plank of onion - just the way I do it at home), but the burger itself was just blahh. And the fries were not very good at all. I haven't tried Five Guys yet, but friends who have a similar taste in burgers said it's not that great either. In San Antonio (where I live) there are numerous burger places that kick both InO and What-A-Burger ass (Longhorn Cafe, Chesters, Tx Hamburger Co, just of the top off my head) - all local places. That what I would suggest - ignore the chains completely and find a local place if you can. If not, WaB is good.

GimmeBACON Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 Of course bar-and-grills or diners serve better quality food then fast food... but you gotta take into account where you're eating. Fast foods as big as it is because most people are willing to settle for something quick and cheap, just some places are still better then others.
myuhinny Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 Don't think I have ever heard of either one but if I were to choose a burger place it would be burgertime which is way better then hack and cheese hardees or burger king.
Kendo 2 Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 5 Guys is pretty good. WhataBurger is hit and miss since it depends on what restaurant you go to. Only had InAndOut one time and I wasn't impressed. I live close to Houston and the two best burger joints are Bubba's Buffalo Burgers on 59 South at Westpark and Bellaire Broiler Burger at Bellaire and Ferris.
27X Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 Whataburger and In N Out are both beyond BK and McD, but since those are both awful fucking food, that's not really saying anything. Whataburger is essentially drunk food, straight up. In/Out is better and has a pretty awesome secret menu. Neither is as good as Carl's or Bob's or Red Robin. The best burger joint here is a mexican restaraunt where the cooks don't speak english and don't give a fuck about what you special stuff want, you're gonna get bacon cheesburger and that's final.
Leito86 Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 The nice thing about 5 Guys is the food comes complementary with a cup of grease. The book of napkins they put in the bag aren't for you to use, it's to stop the bag from disintegrating

There is a Bigz nearby, just haven't make the effort to try it. Another one I like is Red Robin (surprisingly) but only when I'm in the mood for a specific burger - the Teriyaki burger. Another one around here is "Willie's" - it's OK. Another popular one here is Tycoon Flats. Been there once or twice - not really that memorable for me.
MsOtaku Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 I've tried both. Living in Texas I've had more Whataburger than In-and-Out. Whataburger is WAY better than chain burger joints here, when I went to California and asked locals about the hidden menu for In-and-Out, I'd have to say that they are both equal when it comes to being better than the "popular" burger chains. Just my opinion. Now I'm craving a burger..... luckily, Whataburger is open 24/7 here. Not sure about In-and-Out.
gregathit Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 In-and-out is pretty bad. Avoid it if possible. There are one or two decent ones, but the rest are beyond horrible. Whataburger on the whole is going to beat all of the other chains, at least in Texas. Personally, I'm a red robin fan. That banzai burger is to fucking die for! 2nd best would be a burger from 54th street. Shit, anything from 54th street for that matter is good. And a beer to wash it down with.........priceless.
Guest Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 OT Jack in the box. My stomach approves. There used to be a place called "fatburger" but my eyes are bigger than my stomach, and it feels like I've engorged myself there. Jack (etc) is great.

I LOVE the curly fires and shakes from Jack in the Box. It's a tradition to go there every Xmas day for lunch because it's the only place open.
