The next version of Discord should allow also direct integration.

But integrating it will be not before a new version of LLab.

I do hope and wish it is better this time around when this site is upgraded.

Yea, the Boss is putting this off as long as possible to try to make sure it works. Thing is.....there are no guarantees with anything in life.

As to nightmare......it is SOOOO MUCH worse for Ashal when it goes wrong. Like, no sleep for a week to fix it kind of nightmare.

the nightmare comment was more directed at Ashal''s experiences as opposed to my personal experiences. Mostly it was very inconvenient but not much more.

Also I am perfectly happy with having Discord separate from the site. When I want to use it I go to the site anyway as it is. Not sure I would us it so much if it was here. (much like the previous chat) unless that integration would also link all the other Discord accounts at the same time.

No intentions to integrate discord though; before or after the site upgrade. An upgrade that inevitably will be *shudder* soon... If I find a good way to integrate it though, I'd be willing. Just not seeking it out.

I join in and Im greeted with multi tiddy futa furry porn on the main channel which is suppoused to be about "General chat is for any topics related mainly to LoversLab and/or it's community. " and it really doesn't continue much differently
then when I check offtopic, there's bunch of jew conspiracy, gay agenda and other /pol/ shit being thrown around and one of the common phrases I see thrown around is "ok adding to block list" "gotta expand my ignore list" etc due of the shitty chat
And this seems to also circle in the general chat, I've basically leaned on muting those channels all together

The modding support and skyrim chat seem to be cool atleast? They seem to stay in good taste so far as they really stay on topic
but good lord the first impressions you get from joining the server is a giant shit show

I personally find all the E6 pic shitposting hilarious and don't mind it (though I do wish some images had remained unseen sometimes ?), but I get why other users may not be as "live and let live" about them, I guess.

To be fair, that's one or two specific actors (possibly trolls) that recently started actively spreading that bullshit by taking advantage of the admittedly scarce moderation, and not really a staple for the channel/server (from what I've seen so far, anyway).

Yeah, regardless of what #general and #offtopic may be filled with, the game-specific/support channels are a pretty good place to get help and they stay on-topic most of the time.

there's just no moderation. its nice to have a discord but ashal seems to think it will function the same way as the forums which is not true. it needs more hands on deck to function decently, and not everyone comes to LL for all the same content. While you do make a good point about general, it is just a catch all, the other channels need a bit better moderation to be useful, and additionally, there are some people who have taken up residence who throw off a vibe that "this is my house" and are rude to outsiders. there is a core clique formed and its very abrasive to come into the discord.

I messaged ashal about it directly in discord and they dont seem to care. they just said its got the same rules as the forums and they said to tag moderators or message them when things are out of sorts, but we shouldn't have to flag people down to get help in discord, moderators need to be actively participating.

As soon as your check clears to hire some folks, I'm sure they will get right on it.

Moderators don't grow on trees. It isn't a paid job. So finding folks that are qualified and willing to put in large amounts of their time for free is a daunting task. So if you want moderation, then the least you can do is get off your tail and help. If you aren't willing to do that, then why would you expect anyone to bother listening to you? I'm not trying to be rude here, I'm trying to get you realize what that what you are saying is horribly selfish and self centered. As in all things in life, you have to give to get.

its not selfish and self centered. The discord has a problem, and if LL wants a discord, then it needs to be moderated. It's not my fault LL cant find moderators for it, and I'm not participating in the discord till you guys can figure out the modertation issues. I just prefer to participate in discords where rudeness is discouraged, new people arent shunned out of channels and made to feel like shit for asking a question.

My give here is not participating and causing a larger problem because its obvious raising a fuss in the discord would only cause a row, which there are no moderators online to bring under control.

there are plenty of discords that dont have the problem, there are plenty of LL users who are qualified, but I see no call for moderators, no attempt on LL's part to create rules and guidelines on the discord, no channel outlining said rules, I had to message ashal directly for them to tell me it has the same rules as the forum, which doesn't really do any good since its a live chat format, and the rules arent posted.

If you guys want to have a discord that works well, the LL staff needs to put in the work for it.

I want to participate, but the onus is not on me to moderate your discord for you guys. You are trying to shift the blame on me here for a problem i didn't create, and can't control.

I am simply pointing out that the discord needs moderation. If LL staff doesn't want to do it, why have one? I've seen plenty of new people join, try to ask a question or get in on the conversation, and get shut down by the core clique in there.

That's not my responsibility, but you seem to want to shift the focus of this conversation to blaming me and people like me for voicing our opinion, and then insulting us. Why would I want to moderate for your discord after this? You aren't even taking applications for moderators anyway, so how would I even do it? You tell me to put up, but where can I put up? Or is that just fancy talk meant to sidetrack from the issue that the discord is poorly moderated and unwelcoming?

This is true, there are about 3 maybe 4 people that can be blocked and LL discord landscape changes dramatically. ?

I check in daily but have no time to read anything. Same goes for cpu & myu. If nobody draws our attention to things going sour, then they go sour. Just had a look-see based n the complaint and banned a couple of people.

Nobody reported them with an @ during the days they were active. I guess we're supposed to read absolutely everything anybody writes on the discord now to spare people the bother of reporting. Same as on the site then

You can't expect us to tattle on people when discord requires partnered and verified discords to have active moderation. I know the LL isn't either of those, but good servers have active moderation, rules and guidelines, and a clear set of channels for different sets of content.

Additionally there is no listing of moderator usernames. No roles we can @ to make reports, no listing of people we can speak with aside from ashal. You have zero guidelines set out, and people who join the server are not necessarily participants on the LL forums, so they wont know the rules. Hell, I don't even know the rules for LL but I get along just fine because I don't act like a dick to everyone.

You forum mods have come in here and admitted you don't have time to moderate the discord, so there clearly needs to be a drive to get better discord management in play. Ashal clearly doesn't want to do it either, if I am reading the situation correctly. This halfhearted attempt is merely a placation for those who wanted a discord. Do you even know how reporting works on discord? You have to either tag a moderator (who is a moderator in the discord aside from ashal? Can you tell me how to easily find them?) or PM a moderator. (same issue. Who can I message?) If it's not easy, people aren't going to be arsed.

If you don't bother to do something the discord is eventually just going to get closed down due to someone bombing it with actionable items, and i bet that will be the end of the "official" LL discord.

I include anyone in the admin and moderator roles here because it's kinda your job to moderate it, since it has the same rules as the forum. If ashal doesn't want you to that's not really my say here, but you still have the ability and power to actually be a moderator in the discord. You are the one who can put up, but you are the one choosing to not do so.

And excuse me for being passionate about a community I enjoy being a part of, only to get pushed aside by your unwelcoming community in the discord.

is how you report to us. This is now also in the announcements - I thought it was understood because people used it before.

The LL discord literally is, as you say, "a placation for those who wanted a discord", which is fine by us. So don't expect anything more. I can't help but notice that you insist on rules for the discord but haven't read the forum's, think active moderation of the kind we can't possibly deliver should save you the trouble of just reporting people, and think we need to reorganize the different channels. All this sounds like our time isn't important.

Assumption with zero basis in fact. Speaking of assumptions, the people that wanted a discord don't even post here anymore, because they didn't want a discord, they wanted a walled garden where they could backseat politic forum content, which didn't happen, same with the principal faction that wanted a discord for basically #ERP.

Your tact of "the discord is 1:1 the forum" is entirely subjective. And inaccurate.
