Kendo 2 Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 Just for the record, I still haven't bought or played Witcher 3 but that's the most common comparison I see. Buy Witcher3. You won't regret it.
c0mpute Posted September 3, 2016 Author Posted September 3, 2016 One out of 149: Skeletons. After 200+ years, they've STILL held together. What, some asshole wandered the area wiring together the bones of all the skeletons he found, then posed them in all sorts of positions? Hell, in a month or two they'd just be a pile of bones on the floor. Kick them, and they don't come apart? Really? No. 2: All the boarded-up places. What, everyone KNEW the bombs were going to fall early on, so they took their sweet-ass time making sure to solidly board up all these places? And Ooo, people can make pipe weapons up the arse, but no one can figure out how to pull out some fucking nails and get inside these buildings? "Hey, Dees boards are blocking der doors. Anyone's gotta crowbar? NOPE, okay on to der next house...No, don't waste der gernades. Wese gotta respect der privaty property!". No. 3: Legendaries. "Just got a Cane of Mirelurk Doom...see, it's written on the curvy bit. 'In case of Mirelurk, tell target to stay still. Use cane to hit target repeatedly. Mirelurks are allergic to the ivory inlay on shaft, so they'll be hurt by it more. Keep telling target to stay still while hitting it. Once target is dead, stop hitting it. Enjoy!'.... and 'Caution: Mirelurk may not stand still. If it moves, go away and find dumber Mirelurk.'..." lmao, thats a good one...
Gameplayer Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 There should be achievements for playing the game without CTD using mods. But unfortunately that would be against official policy.
Midnight19 Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 the main story being too linear, and i don't like how your spouse dies, over Shaun who turns out to be sociopathic, Prick
Ernest Lemmingway Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 Just for the record, I still haven't bought or played Witcher 3 but that's the most common comparison I see. Buy Witcher3. You won't regret it. Already did. The Complete Edition, too. Fun game!
c0mpute Posted September 5, 2016 Author Posted September 5, 2016 To me it's simple: the fact that Bethesda decided to make a popular action game on the remain of my favorite CRPG I do enjoy the action game and made peace with it but there's always a voice in my head nagging me "hey you used to love fallout because you could be anybody in an interesting world" (I hate this voice saying the same thing since Fallout 3) If you read my orig post, i was trying to keep it within the game. by pointing out something wrong within it, rather than externally..
Hayleyrose2323 Posted September 7, 2016 Posted September 7, 2016 Whole lot of killing or a whole lot of nothing. Fallout 3 was more balanced in my opinion, lot of interesting stuff to see not always forced to kill. But in fallout 4, I'm just walking around looking for supplies and RAIDERS, RAIDERS, RAIDERS or something or i'm just walking around a boring empty house or something. If you wanna go see something neat its probably gonna end up killing you. Where as (at least for me) in fallout 3 I could wander around and have a good time exploring and finding something really cool without going in guns blazing every few feet. Really keeps me immersed in the game and the world, gives me time to just walk around and take it all in. But in fallout 4..SO FAR, its kinda boring to walk around. Is anyone else having the same issues? Or is it just me, It totally could be just me. I mean the most interesting spot to go explore as of right now in my game is the city, but its full of raiders and super mutants, soo yeaaa... I'm probably just too picky or something. New vegas is a bit like this as well but I don't mind new vegas, i love the empty desert and stuff, I don't feel like thats a problem in new vegas, personally i think it fits with the world. And skyrim, especailly with mods, i never run into this problem, tons to see. But fallout 4..I was expecting to see a lot more than what I'm seeing. Again, probably just me.
Kendo 2 Posted September 7, 2016 Posted September 7, 2016 It isn't just you. In the 90+ hours I wasted on FO4 I had that feeling a lot. No matter where I went...GREAT more raiders. I would find an interesting place (like the robot race track) but instead of being able to enjoy it I had to throw hand grenades and shoot the place up because of raiders who served no purpose. By the time I got close to the end of the game I no longer cared enough to loot corpses of anything but ammo and stimpaks. How many pipe pistols and crap suits of long johns do I need? I guess my biggest peeve about FO4 is the piss-poor shooter-style game play. It was billed as an RPG and that's what I thought I was buying. If I had known it was a shooter I would have saved the 60 bucks and bought one not made by Bethesda. But that's what I get for having the 'fear of missing out' and stupidly believing I was going to get what I paid for. That won't happen again.
allsunday Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 One thing that stood out for me was alot great opportunities for characters development and interesting deeper quests/rpg experiences were just left hanging. Alot of people mention the robot racetrack and arena but one that stuck out for me was the quest to make curie a 3gen synth when the doc was worried the damaged/dead synth personality of curie's new body might come back. That could of made a really good situation where you have essentially two companions in the same body. Which could of lead to an inevitable moral choice where you had to choose one of them. Hell they could of just given us different choices of body for her like with quest to choose rex's brain in fallout:nv. Same thing happen with Nick when Kellogg shows up after nick linked with his synth parts. Dude. It's "could've" the contraction for "could have". Just take a second to think about how "could of" makes absolutely no sense. But, yeah, I agree with everything you said. I'm only playing it because of the mods. The main quest? What main quest?
allsunday Posted September 12, 2016 Posted September 12, 2016 Nobody's going to mention the AI on your companions? How they ALWAYS walk in front of your sights? Like they intentionally do it because it happens so often it's definitely part of their programming! And you HAVE to use the companions in order to do the extra quests so there's no way around it. I got so pissed off of Nick Valentine walking into my sights every time we get in a firefight I just started blasting away at his sorry ass until he sat down like a little bitch.
Guest Posted September 12, 2016 Posted September 12, 2016 Leveling ruining zones (easy old zones, bullet sponges, and fatman raiders). Mediocre story with a predetermined personality for my protagonist and the impossibility of being a pacifist. You can get all the perks. Junk needs a Fulton system lol. AI grenade spam and instant reaction time. All of survival mode. Boring low world variation and that includes enemies too. No karma. Legendaries. EVERYTHING Minor: Stealth pipboy effect. No Nightkin. Find a way to make it lore friendly? No Cenetaurs No Fire Ants No Giant Ants No Floaters No Wanamingos No Dwarves Lame Deathclaws
Hayleyrose2323 Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 Also the fact that something I worked hard for (Killing a deathclaw and getting power armor) all happened in like 10 minutes of playing and its forced into the main quest. Also the companions are so..JUDGING. Its so annoying. The only one I don't have a problem with so far is Deacon, he's the most acceptable. But that might be because of a mod, I have no idea, i have so many. Playing with piper is so annoying. And yea, they get in the way, OR when you try and talk to them or trade, they move away from you ESPECIALLY dog meat. Dogmeat also sucks, he runs off and sets off all the traps. Also the settlement building system kinda sucks in many ways. Constantly having issues, some can be fixed with mods and overall made a lot better with mods but a lot of the constrictions are still there. And last, the music that was used in GNR. I'm sure there is a ingame reason the music from fallout 3 is in fallout 4 but it feels off especially when fallout 4 is such a big disappointment for me. They changed so much and made things crappier that its like "Oh but look, fallout 3 music, cuz this is a fallout game, trust me, doesnt that feel nostalgic? Love us". I'm probably looking into it too much and its a small thing but it kinda feels like thats what its about.
Kendo 2 Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 Peeves? Basically everything pointed out and laughed at in this video.
Gameplayer Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 That first moment I entered the Institute and everything that was said already about the plot in Forum spoilers came true.
Ernest Lemmingway Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 Peeves? Basically everything pointed out and laughed at in this video. That's one of the funniest and most accurate videos of everything wrong with FO4. Can I change my initial answer to "everything about the game?" Also I tried to get into the game. I really, really tried. Now some people may not think that 100 hours is a long time to play, and honestly it's not when three-fourths of it was spent building settlements with those awkward controls. What I did encounter was really everything that everyone else complains about as well: lack of choice, dull plot, overly simplified mechanics for character development, and quests that really are just about killing everything at X and then return to Y. But what hurt things the most is the potential that was there but went unused. Structures with no interior, characters that screamed for more development, locations that were cookie cutter copies of each other in terms of structure, there was just so much that could have been done but wasn't. Bethesda has a past record for good, if not great, games. FO4 was a major disappointment in so many areas it's hard to believe that the same company that made Morrowind and other great RPGs. This isn't even an RPG; it's a very mediocre shooter with RPG-like elements.
Halstrom Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 LOL, that is hilarious and honest. The same U-Tube guy shows honest reviews of TombRaider, StarCraft, Elder Scrolls, Borderlands, Halo, Overwatch, Half-Life, Fallout3, BioShock, Assasins Creed, Counter Strike, Grand Theft Auto and pretty much every game you can mention all suck just as badly, the moral of the story being don't buy any games from any company, honestly they all suck....... Better to keep waiting for this guy to review the perfect game, avoid any games and use as much of your time you have on this planet to whine about one game you love to hate.
AsariX Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 Ah, at least we haven't had any tools suggesting an Indoctrination Theory for Fallout 4 yet.
DigitalP Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 A peeve. Why the hell doesn't Preston lead the survivors of Quincy to Diamond City or at least Goodneighbour where it's reletivly safe?
GrimReaper Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 LOL, that is hilarious and honest. Honest Trailers is entertainment, not critique. It's supposed to make you laugh, anyone who takes these videos at face value has lost control over his/her life. The humor mainly comes from how stupid games and movies are when you really take a closer look at them. I mean, look at that. If anyone would take that video serious it would be Witcher fans, but that video has almost only positive ratings while having 3.4 million views. Meanwhile, an actual negative critique of the Witcher series would be torn to shreds by enraged fans.
Kendo 2 Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 It's funny if it's true, at least that is what most people would think looking at Honest Trailers. But everyone (and I do mean EVERYONE) knows that Bethesda fans freak out when someone makes a factual statement that does anything to disparage one of their releases. In fact Bethesda fans will go on the offensive to silence critics. They act like a cult, like religious fanatics or feminists. They're basically reactionary and humorless twats. What's worse is they target posters (we've all seen it). Is there any wonder there's been push back against the Bethesda fan hive-mind mentality? Sometimes I doubt these fans play anything but Bethesda releases. It's like they have gaming tunnel vision and it's bizarre.
Halstrom Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 No worse than the BethBasher cult, most who don't even play the game or boast they only have 100hrs of game time but seen it all and know it all. They are bitter twisted arrogant anti-social trolls, they spend more time bashing Beth games in Beth game areas of forums than actually playing other games. They just can't leave people alone to enjoy a game because they don't like it, they want to ruin it for people who play it and ruin it for people who haven't played it (We've all seen it). It's not like Fallout fans are hanging out in the Skyrim, GTA, WoW and Counterstrike forums bashing them. This is a Fallout section of a forum, its a peeves thread not yet another Bethbashing thread, if you hate Fallout so much and don't even play it, just fuck off elsewhere and play something else instead of hanging around like mouldy turds waiting for Fallout 5, 6, 7 and 8 to bash next........
GrimReaper Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 That goes both way I think. No other community than the one that builts itself about Bethesda games is as passionate about a game. Most games that disappoint people in one way or another trigger an initial storm and then get forgotten about real quick. Recent example would be No Man's Sky, huge outrage, huge shit-flinging contest everywhere and now it's buried and left to rot. Meanwhile, games from Bethesda somehow manage to trigger some people so hard they won't stop talking about the game, at least not until a new one is released, in which case it is time to move on to that game and start the Bethesda grief cycle anew. But I suppose it is understandable because Bethesda is literally the only company that actually makes these games. You want to see them improve but they often take one step forward and two steps back. On the other hand, you absolutely do not want them to go down the route of other devs/publishers and release The Elder Scrolls - Ubisoft Edition. Many of the issues would be fixed if Bethesda had any kind of competition, but alas. People preferring echo chambers goes both ways as well. People don't want to discuss or even talk, they just want validation for their own opinion thus an echo chamber is the logical conclusion. Everything else is just annoying noise that has to go away.
srayesmanll Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 Ross & Rachel David & Maddie Kendo & Halstrom Would you two get a room and get it over with already? The sexual tension is really thick here...
Koko.Hekmatyar Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 I think the two main things Bes did that drive me nuts are. A: They made Boston look like a wasteland yet after 210 years the vegetation in the area would have recovered to the point where grass would be growing and trees wouldn't be leafless. B: The Fact that it's the year 2077 when the world "ended" but despite it being 2077 and they have things like power Armor, miniature fusion fuel cells, fusion based cars etc. etc. they still hadn't managed to invent a metal that doesn't rust and/or corrode after 210 years.
