c0mpute Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 I was playing Fallout and thought how much i did not like this or how it did that when you did this ect and i thought i would start a thread about the niggling little annoyances within Fallout.. maybe someone can help fix your little annoyance in the game, who knows hey?Whats your annoyance with Fallout 4?Anyway, my annoyance is seeing how rain gets into the structures you build at settlements, like cement walls or buildings with double layered floors that would make it hard to let rain it.. lol..Anyway, if admins don't like this thread, they can always delete it. or move it if it is in the wrong section... lol

ButchDiavolo Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 The fact that the guys at Bethesda looked at the game and thought 'Yeah that's okay' Exactly this. When I still played it, I ALSO thought "yeah, this is ok". And that is the problem with FO4. It is "OK". They had the tools and opportunity to make a truely epic game, but they made it merely OK. Such a missed opportunity. I am sure that all the massively talented modders out there WILL make the game epic. But the point is: they shouldn't HAVE to. So I will wait a year or longer, before I will attempt to play it again, with a shitload of mods.
Nasseliten Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 Im an old gamer, I used to enjoy fallout 2 alot. My pet peeve about fallout 4 is that bethesda doesn't understand it's source material. No mod can fix that.
Guest Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 My pet peeve are the insane fps hits I take going near downtown on my 1080. Also all the "mother" comments my character makes through the story... *spoiler* I killed Shaun with a wrench.
c0mpute Posted August 9, 2016 Author Posted August 9, 2016 Ok.. lol.. I was talking about certain events or things in game more so... lolFor example, I would not expect it to rain through a concrete building i built ...lol
Guest Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 Ha fair enough. Assaultrons sneaking up on me with their instagib head laser really grinds my gears. Whenever I get hit by one, I just pause and reload. Theres no way I'm watching my character turn to dust lol
Ernest Lemmingway Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 The fact that the guys at Bethesda looked at the game and thought 'Yeah that's okay' This sums it up nicely for me. Im an old gamer, I used to enjoy fallout 2 alot. My pet peeve about fallout 4 is that bethesda doesn't understand it's source material. No mod can fix that. Exactly. Bethesda just doesn't get Fallout. In-game things like the weak plot, the lifeless-like-a-statue feel of the world, two-dimensional characters and bad guys, poor physics again, lousy occlusion (rain inside structures), console-style controls on PC, the inability to reassign keybindings, horrid dialogue systems, and the dumbed down streamlined character mechanics. They billed this as an action-RPG, not a shooter, and it's not even a decent shooter. If I'd wanted a game where the whole point was to kill everything that moved with no real plot I'd have bought Overwatch. Oh, and Bethesda's continuing screw ups regarding mods. Everything they could have done wrong this time around they practically did.
slimbones Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 One thing that stood out for me was alot great opportunities for characters development and interesting deeper quests/rpg experiences were just left hanging. Alot of people mention the robot racetrack and arena but one that stuck out for me was the quest to make curie a 3gen synth when the doc was worried the damaged/dead synth personality of curie's new body might come back. That could of made a really good situation where you have essentially two companions in the same body. Which could of lead to an inevitable moral choice where you had to choose one of them. Hell they could of just given us different choices of body for her like with quest to choose rex's brain in fallout:nv. Same thing happen with Nick when Kellogg shows up after nick linked with his synth parts.
Adorkable Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 The fact that my hardass warrior woman who is very good at pretending that she doesn't care for anyone or anything (except revenge) immediatly breaks down and turns into a sobbing mess as soon as Nick starts asking about Shaun. That was one of the few things I truly couldn't headcanon away. Even though I've been the biggest asshole in the universe up to that point, as soon as Nora starts talking about Shaun, she goes all 'my pooor baaabyyyyy'. Like, no. I get having limitations due to having a voiced main character, but the difference between the revenge-driven asshole you can play by picking the right options and the heartbroken, sensitive mother you're sometimes forced to be is just way too jarring. So yeah, that's my pet peeve. The inevitable change in the main character's tone when you really just want to be a hardass is immersion-breaking as fuck and I usually like voiced main characters. Fallout 4 just sometimes really didn't handle it well.
Varithina Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 Micro managing settlements, ghost build what I want in a settlement as long as I have the perks to build the stuff, then as I dump resources into the workshop either through supply lines or by manually adding the materials have the damn settlers build the walls, roofs etc. until the settlement is fully built. Maybe have a workstation that I can assign settlers to so they do the work rather than everybody doing it. Constant attacks, if I am the general of the minutmen, I do have better things to do than drop everything to go defend a settlement, especially as by the time I fast travel there, orient on the bad guys, 90% of the time the defences and settlers have already killed all the attackers, messages about attacks should only pop a message if the settlers and defences can not deal with it, early in the game sure where the minutmen are thin on the ground its everybody on deck to defend things, but later on it should be done by npc minutment groups that you find wandering around the game.
Chbaakal Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 One out of 149: Skeletons. After 200+ years, they've STILL held together. What, some asshole wandered the area wiring together the bones of all the skeletons he found, then posed them in all sorts of positions? Hell, in a month or two they'd just be a pile of bones on the floor. Kick them, and they don't come apart? Really? No. 2: All the boarded-up places. What, everyone KNEW the bombs were going to fall early on, so they took their sweet-ass time making sure to solidly board up all these places? And Ooo, people can make pipe weapons up the arse, but no one can figure out how to pull out some fucking nails and get inside these buildings? "Hey, Dees boards are blocking der doors. Anyone's gotta crowbar? NOPE, okay on to der next house...No, don't waste der gernades. Wese gotta respect der privaty property!". No. 3: Legendaries. "Just got a Cane of Mirelurk Doom...see, it's written on the curvy bit. 'In case of Mirelurk, tell target to stay still. Use cane to hit target repeatedly. Mirelurks are allergic to the ivory inlay on shaft, so they'll be hurt by it more. Keep telling target to stay still while hitting it. Once target is dead, stop hitting it. Enjoy!'.... and 'Caution: Mirelurk may not stand still. If it moves, go away and find dumber Mirelurk.'..."

Mole rats are biggish but not that big.
Guest MonsterFish Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 I always thought they boarded up doors as a sign of saying 'This place has been raided, there's nothing in here now. Don't bother'
DigitalP Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 A serious lack of non faction radiant quests. 2 bounty missions in Diamond city? Come on.
Dragonjoe69 Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 Right now what totally pisses me off is the fact I can't even play the game because they updated the runtime and the script extender needs to be updated
tacomarine Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 Like Varithena said, the fucking settlement assaults. Oh, and the fact I forgot I was a father and needed to save my son. Totally forgot that in preference of scouting the Glowing Sea. And turning my settlement into a minecraft-esque fortress
Outlast1 Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 1.) dialog (WTF!!!!) this had to be the biggest let down since, since Preston Garvey walks up and says here is a settlement populate that shit!!. I have to avoid anything with the main quest involved because I hate how I turn into a goody two shoes little azzhat. I keep trying to play a quite, cold hearted raider who rather shoot you take your stuff and leave and I succeed up until any one asks me did you find your baby? then almost immediately she breaks down crying on the floor, "my baby!!!", all I scream at my game is no one cares about your dam baby lady. 2.) The settlement system is "meh" fun to build but I end up shooting 99% of my citizens at the firing wall for insubordinate behavior and cowardice. Settlers need to be more active, such as leaving the safety of my walls to get scrap, glue, TP, and what ever else we need. 3.) settlement raids......this was just the worst, 3-4 mutants or raiders attacking my settlement even before it was finished with a defense of 35 and one sentry bot, dies before even firing a shot. This was pissing me off, If I was gonna raid a settlement that was pretty tough and decently defended I would come knocking with a squad of 20, 5 rocket launcher guys, 10 semi-automatic rifle men, 5 grenadiers. 3-4 guys thats it, even the rust devils do much better with 6 + 5 robots. 4.) the game is no where near finished, take shooting (spoilers here) the head of that secret organization your sent to find after the vault 11 incident, if you shoot him DONE, nothing cant progress. 5.) PRESTON GARVEY!!!! All I dream about sometimes is ahem "go and fix up this settle....." no (punch him, throw him over your shoulder, fast travel to the location he wanted you to go, throw him down, punch him again, hand him a bent spoon) you go fix this up!. THE END! sorry I get into these sometimes
UraniumFever Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 Running out of materials. No matter how much I horde, how carefully I search, or how many caps I spend, I keep finding ways to run out of crafting materials. Copper and rubber are something I ALWAYS keep running out of. Adhesive is a pain in the neck to keep stocked up, and now I find my warehouse and industrial project getting delayed because there isn't enough freaking glass in the massive junkyard of the Commonwealth
KicklerOfButts Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 The shitty dialogue system. (Which technically is a consequence of the fact that the PC is voiced, so I guess that's the real issue.) So many of the limitations that bug me are really just a consequence of the limited dialogue system. -Character traits like being focused on science or charisma don't give you different dialogue options anymore. -Persuasion checks are all just a one-fits-all "Keep pushing Character B three times to get more gold," have nothing to do with the nature of your character and pretty much never leads to further dialogues or topics. The fact that I'm smart doesn't help me call someone out with scientific knowledge for instance. -You always get the same 4 options when you talk, only with a different slab of paint on it, and it doesn't matter which one you choose since they don't lead to further dialogue options or information and 9.9 times out of 10 you'll get the same response regardless. (Seriously, when you first enter Diamond City the mayor will call you "Diamon City Material" and give you the same responses no matter how obviously you side with his greatest political opposition right to his face. ) I could go on, but really, the vast majority of the biggest issues for me are a consequence of the same thing. If only they hadn't tried for a voiced PC, they could've kept the old dialogue system or a variance thereof, and practically all my issues wouldn't be a thing.
Veniat Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 It's been said already but, yeah, the dialogue system. I hope someone finds a way to fix it somehow later on, I can put up with nearly everything in the game except for the dialogue system. How did anyone at Bethesda think taking a complex dynamic multi-stage dialogue system that could be used for nearly any kind of choice or scene modders could think of, like Skyrim's, then turning it into a four option linear-staged mess with heavily limited text lengths would be a good idea? :/
Ernest Lemmingway Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 Here's the biggest pet peeve: Bethesda has basically told RPG gamers to go fuck themselves. "The combat controls are vastly better than any previous title!" "There's no real character development." "The best combat controls to date!" "We don't get any real choices." "But it has better combat controls." "There's no real plot." "It has better combat controls." "The RPG elements are minimal to nonexistent." "It has better combat controls!" "The dialogue system is horrible and fully-voiced PCs limit modder ability to add new dialogue." "IT HAS BETTER COMBAT CONTROLS! WE DIDN'T TRY TO MAKE THIS A TRUE RPG! GO PLAY WITCHER 3 IF YOU WANT A REAL RPG!" Just for the record, I still haven't bought or played Witcher 3 but that's the most common comparison I see.

Also two other things come to mind is when one of your settlements gets hit by raiders ect and you go to repair the damage to the generator ect and you dont have the requirements so you go to another settlement to get the stuff.. only to find it gets fixed by itself or settlers when you get back... lol Another frustrating thing is i just leveled up to 4 science and yet i cant update or build the top of the line mod for the plasma gun, even though i have all of the items required for it..... Wel i do think it would have been great if they kept some things and made fallout 4 compatible with skyrim elder scrolls, I think you would have seen a burst of good skryim mods come over to Fallout 4.. including bodies as well as animations with things like FNIS ect...
