Umm, that dialog thing seems a really fudgy solution. How about bypassing the statue. e.g. Replace the empty LAL start cell book shelf with a 'porn start' bookshelf containing books, (each book being a narrative description of a scenario). You can then read the books, but as soon as you take any specific book out off the shelf it will start the scenario.

Why remake a whole working system when whatever is botching a few people's games can be fixed?

 

This is the kind of thing you do during a design process if you have something that mostly works for most people and you want to have something available before everything is fixed and fine.

 

I'm glad he made the slavetats package so I didn't have too.  That red design looks wonderful for a vampire too, and I have a Serana playthrough I'm getting setup.

This idea has some merit. The problem is, anything I do to the starting cell (such as adding an item) could conflict with any possible future update of LAL, or any other mod that uses LAL, or any mod that does not use LAL but alters that starting cell in a way that is compatible with LAL (such as Starting Spell Choice).http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/55489/?

In this case, for two reasons.

1. I'm not totally convinced that I can fix the issue, because I'm not entirely certain what the cause is. This workaround I made is, as spoonsinger says, fudgy. I don't like it, but I figure that as long as it works and not too many people have a problem with it, I'll stick with it.

2. Adding something like another talking activator to the starting cell is really easy to do. It takes about five minutes and bypasses the problem with the LAL statue entirely.

However:

2a. That doesn't fix the underlying issue, which may or may not be causing something else to go wrong, that may or may not be immediately visible. Nobody wants to start a game and play until level 50 and then find out that, for example, Alduin is completely broken and the cause is down to this "fix." I'm leery of releasing this mod as it is, because I'm essentially treating a symptom without curing the disease.

And:

2b. A bookshelf just wouldn't work, because of the way LAL does its thing. Once you select a start, going back and selecting a different start is finicky. Adding start scripts to a book would mean that the first book you read is the start you're stuck with unless you exit and restart the game. Not ideal. It could be done with a different talking activator, though, but at that point I'm just basically duplicating what LAL already does, so why bother?

EDIT: Wait, I get it... read the book, fine, but make the script trigger when you pick it up, not just read it. That would work. That still doesn't fix the underlying issue, though.

Well, in my defense, I'm new to this whole business. The CK itself is a mess from start to finish, the LAL instructions for creating an addon leave out some important bits, and I'd rather rush out a quick fix for the few people who are having an issue now than wait a month until I can finally find the root cause of the issue.

So yeah, it's the equivalent of a beta test. Which, as a matter of fact, is why the zip file says "beta" on it. :)

All the rest.. well yeah this is a fairly new mod, still in a technical testing phase really, what with all the new things its doing and all the mods its trying to connect with, guarantees there will be glitches in a rather glitchy game to start with.  I don't know how Bethesda used the CK to develop the game, or if this is just the hacked down thing thing foisted on modders to kinda keep their good "easy to mod" name.

 

On that note, I'm trying the giant start again, because the first time I got no tattoos.

I have long considered the English language to be something of an impediment to Human communication, not an aid.

Things would be better if we all spoke Assembler instead.

I'm sort of stumped on that one too. For the last couple of months, since I reinstalled everything, I've been very, very lucky with the CK - there have been very few crashes, and it's done pretty much everything I ask of it.

Before that, though... let's just say that if you think Skyrim crashes a lot, that's nothing compared to the CK. It's the only application I know of that you can leave open for five minutes without even touching it and it crashes on its own. Some sort of memory leak, I'd assume... but five minutes? Either Bethesda made the game on a supercomputer, or they sold their souls to Mehrunes Dagon for the ability to use it without breaking things.

There have been times I've wondered whether they have a proprietary in-house dev kit, which they use to make the game, and then the CK as a completely separate application that they release to the public.

 

 

On that note, I'm trying the giant start again, because the first time I got no tattoos.

 

Uh-oh... if you have Slavetats installed, it should happen automatically. At least, it's working on my computer, but that's no guarantee, as recent bugs have made quite clear. :)

That is really weird... I'm only passing in four arguments, not five or six.

SlaveTats.simple_add_tattoo(Game.GetPlayer(), "grine", "unpb-woad", 000076153)

Where game.getplayer() is the player ref, "grine" is the category, "unpb-woad" is the name of the tattoo (I believe Slavetats uses a SQL query or something like it to find text), and 000,076,153 is the RGB value of the color the tattoo is supposed to be.

 

I suppose I could get rid of the leading zeroes, maybe that'll do the trick...

EDIT: Nope, 76153 is the same, as expected.

Are you using any ENB or anything like that?

I am using a basic enboost, I think. I didn't learn the system well enough to remember what I got, but it was just one to help performance on my slightly older computer.

 

I can apply the tats manually just fine.

The reason I asked about the ENB is because I thought it might affect whether or not an overlay can be seen, but I think that's wrong.

 

At any rate, if you can apply the tattoo manually, that's obviously not the problem.

I wonder what's going on there...

Thanks for the list, I had a read through and noticed the only mod in your list of disabled mods that I have(had) running was Radiant Prostitution, disabled it and tried from a new game and lo and behold I was teleported out and the selected story works. So I think it's safe to say that there is a conflict with Radiant Prostitution.

 

I dunno... I just checked. With Radiant Prostitution off, the CCAS starts work. With it on, they're still working for me (right now).

 

This is very peculiar... I'm certain it has something to do with load order, because turning mods on and off seems to affect it. I just don't know exactly what. Or if it's a combination of possible mods. Or perhaps the planets are in just the right alignment.

If it can be patched, is there any chance of having alt starts at any inns through RP? That would make for longer play at the beginning of the game without pressure to get away from it. RP has always been fun to play with over the long term.

I've seen pregnant women walking around with huge breasts, leaking milk, and its like noone cares its pretty normal for local inns to sell human milk, they even have automated milking machines and alchemist potions to make females lactate. I just bought some of so called lactacid ... and now i need some willing helper to start my milky business. Could my life possibly get any better?

solved my problem i've put esp under live another life esp in load order and now work

If that's how the code is supposed to look, that's what I'll do. I had some trouble getting it to work so I just forced it by equipping a milking harness.

Actually, we do have a modder's support thread going, but it seems I can't add anyone else to the list for some reason. I would guess a "low post count" but that doesn't make much sense... :)

Maybe jfraser or skyrimll can add someone else to the list? Not sure...

Okay tried the latest beta version, removed JUGS, Scent of Sex and the naked comments mods and CCAS now works :D

Glad it's working finally. I'm sorry you have to get rid of those other mods, though... did you try just shifting this down in your load order instead, so you can keep them all? Try putting it as low as possible (below LAL and pretty close to the bottom of the load order), maybe that'll work? Fingers crossed...

Would you be willing to accept a single journal entry and a random inn? It's not much more work to make unique starts in all inns, but it will take longer, because I've got to come up with custom journal entries for each starting scenario.

 

I'd prefer doing unique entries for all inns, but if you really want I can try to rush a random one with a generic entry for v8...

Sex with nords help a lot.

Sex with anything else hurts you :)

 

I still have to work out the balance but the idea is that you have to have sex regularly with nords if you want to keep human form.

 

Oh and deadly drain powers only work when you are Not in human form :)

Going to second the comment that there are LAL starts that let you pick which inn you start in, and there are starts to just be in various cities and towns too, which would work in a generic way.

Should I be getting Nord Queen type notifications even when choose a different start?

It is the wrong place, but that's okay. ;)

The Nord Queen notifications are one of the two bugs I know about with the latest version of Sexlab Stories. Reference post: http://www.loverslab.com/topic/31581-sexlab-stories-2016-04-18/?p=1531665

As far as I know, those messages don't matter if you're not using the Nord Queen start - they shouldn't affect your game in any way. I haven't tested exhaustively, but I believe this to be the case.
