Pornucopia Posted February 17, 2017 Posted February 17, 2017 Another thing: What are this mod's required mods? Or can this be installed without having anything else installed?
Farmthat Posted February 17, 2017 Author Posted February 17, 2017 No requirements at this time. Eventually I'll integrate the standard DD/ZAZ equipment, but at a later date.
FABBOY Posted February 18, 2017 Posted February 18, 2017 Hey Farm, Just wondering if you have an ETA on the Mod? Sorry if this sounds pushy. -FA
Farmthat Posted February 18, 2017 Author Posted February 18, 2017 ETA to finish all I want to do, or the next update? next update, probably two weeks. To finish everything I've talked about, probably two years But... I do talk a lot.
sfeile Posted February 18, 2017 Posted February 18, 2017 Hey Farm, Just wondering if you have an ETA on the Mod? Sorry if this sounds pushy. -FA Not trying to sound rude, but it's not a good thing to ask for an ETA. Most modders won't give one because there are so many things that can happen like ck issues/limitations, something not testing right, mod conflicts, and just real life. If they give an ETA and for some reason it doesn't work out there are people that will get all pissy about it. I'm not saying that YOU would, but I have seen it happen in the past. Better question would be to ask if there is a progress update.

Or we do it like those Starfleet engineers and over-estimate. When the captain asks when the engine is back online, and you need 5 hours to do it, just say it'll take 15 hours. The captain will say: "You've got 10!". And then you can still look like a magician for coming in under. I, for example, feel fairly comfortable in saying that the next version of my mod will be released in 2030.
Farmthat Posted February 20, 2017 Author Posted February 20, 2017 Here's my armchair psychiatrist take on it: I genuinely think I could get a little update out in two weeks. And people would be thrilled if I did, but they'd be 99% as thrilled with three weeks. They have nothing to lose except a little patience. However, if I don't meet the deadline I've set for myself, I'll feel like a failure and that I've broken promises and not met expectations... Feeling like a failure severely impacts motivation down the line. So, I have a lot to lose by making estimates even if I have every intention of sticking to them! I know that this is minor stuff, and I make it sound way more serious than it is, but even little broken promises can add up to being demoralizing, so it's probably better not to make them. This is more an observation for my future behavior when responding to progress questions--which are fine--I honestly don't mind curiosity since it's a form of compliment. I'm glad people enjoy my mod enough to ask.

I'm glad people enjoy my mod enough to ask. I wasn't meaning they shouldn't ask at all, but meant it's normally better to ask more of a "how's it coming along" as opposed to "whens it going to be done". Also, I'm not saying that they were rude in any way, but for reasons I mentioned as well as the reasons you mentioned it's not generally a good idea to want a deadline. I noticed Fabboy had a relatively low post count and wasn't sure if they knew it was frowned upon by some modders to word it that way. That was the only reason I said something. Most modders here are great, but I have seen a rare one or two that will get testy and didn't want Fabboy to run across one and get yelled at.

Yeah, I'm new on the site and didn't know if it was rude or not. So really sorry about that So yeah, Thanks for the mentoring, that really helps me loads so thanks. Anyway, good luck with your respective works and jobs and have a good week! -FA
slvsaris Posted February 24, 2017 Posted February 24, 2017 Nice work so far! I was walking to Riverwood from Whiterun and noticed a dwarven door in a cliff that seemed out of place. I entered and found the facility! I thought, awesome! Let's go take a look! I headed on in and went through the dialogue several times trying to get myself incarcerated! LOL. Great work though, keep it up, we are all very interested in your idea Also, I am pretty sure Kimmy, Veladarius, or any of our resident mod authors would be more than willing to answer any questions you might have about how to accomplish something in your mod. Never be afraid to ask for help
Farmthat Posted February 25, 2017 Author Posted February 25, 2017 I'd just like to report an encouraging breakthrough on AI packages. The guard is now performing perfectly rather than satisfactorily, and is template material for other interactions. She guards her door. When the player approaches, she warns them to step back. If the player approaches further, she draws her weapon, reminds the player that she warned them, and then chases them down to strike them a few times with her whip, after which she returns to her guard post. She will repeat her attacks until the player speaks to the warden as commanded, at which point she grudgingly invites the player through the door. Quite a successful little gatekeeper! I spent way too much time on her behavior. But it's nice to have a solid win under my belt when fighting the creation kit. Next up is the tour quest, which is technically more simple and repetitive.
sfeile Posted February 25, 2017 Posted February 25, 2017 That's awesome to hear! Congrats on the success!

Wow, Congrats Farm, That's an amazing breakthrough. Sorry about earlier with the ETA comment.
Farmthat Posted February 25, 2017 Author Posted February 25, 2017 Lol... it's really okay. Im not remotely upset. It's funny to be making a mod now (downloaded skyrim mods for ~3 years before starting my own) and change perspective is all. I think with the nature of mods being free, people are particularly sensitive about not driving modders away. There have been a few spectacular meltdowns and unexplained disappearances. But I'm not thin-skinned or flighty, so, no worries.
Farmthat Posted March 5, 2017 Author Posted March 5, 2017 Good, good. Working on the tour. Reorganized the dungeon to put the padded cells under the supervision of the nurse. Also, a bit distracted by Cursed Loot 6.0. Good stuff!
Farmthat Posted March 6, 2017 Author Posted March 6, 2017 So, I've started a new "mind map" to gather my thoughts a little and lay out a long-term plan for how the parts of the mod fit together or sequence. This is by no means set in stone, and is about an hour of me playing with a new ap on my phone. But I'm already really liking this as a planning tool. Each bubble can also have attached notes which I expand on it greater detail. I plan on there being two ways to "win" either via being a very careful guard or a very careful escapee. It's easy to get pulled into being a prisoner/patient/Guinea pig, and I want that to be very entertaining in its own right without being annoying... while providing ways to get out of a loop without excessive grinding. Even though I've planned a tremendous deal of work which I don't exactly have time for, having a plan is incredibly motivating. I have trouble starting anything which doesn't have a clear path to completion. Seriously though. Mind maps.
SquipLightfoot Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 I like where it is going. I was very impressed with what you have cobbled together, so far. Thanks for the hard work!
sfeile Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 I'm normally enjoy a physical torture more than just a "tied up" scene. However..... I am really looking forward to testing more of this mod. Everything you have done so far has been really well put together, and I can't wait to see more of it. I like the idea of stumbling across a flyer, or just the door itself and having options once you get in there. The work on the vacbeds has been stellar and had me interested before it ever became a mod. I like the whole layout of the place as well. It already has room for growth and won't feel like things were crammed in as an afterthought. The new plan direction looks really good too. I really wish I had some modding skills to lend you other than just offering to test things. But, if you do need something tried out, let me know, I'd be more than happy to!
Farmthat Posted March 6, 2017 Author Posted March 6, 2017 Thanks! I do have a lot of fun with the layout of the dungeon. Maybe too much fun? I hope to be able to get brainstorming out of the way before I sit down at the computer, so I actually know how to best spend my time. Rather than waste time trying to decide how to use it in the moment. My thoughts on BDSM is that everything needs a reason. Tied up, just because? That's not exciting to me. Tied up due to disobedience, or for ease of use, by accident, or literally whatever reason--makes it ten times better. I'm also lukewarm regarding sadism, which I don't feel is a good enough reason for causing pain--there needs to be a goal, using pain as punishment for failure. If pain is by default pleasurable to a masochist, what plot device is left for causing a crisis? Sadist meets masochist and they live happily ever after, end of story. Instead, if a somewhat dominant/sadistic person uses pain to train a somewhat submissive person that enduring it can lead to pleasure, pleasure and pain become muddled together into one intense experience and the common thread is obedience to the person providing it... I find THAT a really hot transformation. Becoming more masochistic or more submissive through expert guidance, and embracing it. So, yeah... even though vacbeds can be kind of boring in practice, I like to think that by building a story around imprisonment and sexual conditioning that even the "downtime" of being bound totally immobile can have its own important place in making the mod enjoyable. Especially employed on NPCs. I really need to stop writing longer posts on my phone. It's really hard to keep a train of thought!
Bonding1005 Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 I just started wishing really hard for a time machine. I am soooo looking forward to seeing this mindmap put into action!
deletedinfection Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 you can also when you get enslaved different levels like its harder to escape, like different suits that are changed colors like black to white, yellow, gold, green, blue, orange, red so you can see who is dangerous and who is not really that dangerous, also DD's included maybe.
Farmthat Posted March 7, 2017 Author Posted March 7, 2017 Lol... mankomen, your thumbnail is hilarious. It's so close to the default silhouette that it's easy to miss how it's just a little classier. Since texture modifications are low-cost, it's certainly possible to color code, but I also have many other suit variations that will get added in time. Patients of the nurse will have an outfit, (hopefully straighjacket though development is paused. May switch to an inflatable cocoon type for simplicity,) and most ambitiously there will be a variety of outfits for taking a turn as a guinea pig in the labs(?). Name pending. I'll also have a more bondage-y option for those who've made escape attempts recently or been recovered from a successful escape. Likely just a catsuit retextured with the addition of DD restraints. Anyway, lots of plans! Especially looking forward to working on the labs though.
sfeile Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 "Labs"....... That just has such a wicked amount of potential. LOL!
Farmthat Posted March 7, 2017 Author Posted March 7, 2017 But what do you call someone who works in a lab? I don't like the ring of "scientist" or "inventor" and while "doctor" has a nice sound to it, it kind of infringes on the nurse's domain. So... I'm trying to think of a non-corny title for the mad scientist lurking below the conveyor who the warden will occasional toss bad prisoners down to experiment on. Think of this mad scientist sort of like... someone funded by a venture capitalist. Largely autonomous to pursue their own interest while any promising inventions are capitalized on. While saying not corny is my goal, a rubber or latex-themed title would be fine, just not something like... The rubberator. Although that cracks me up. Damn it! Edit: rubber researcher? Edit edit: her research notes are in a book titled the latexicon. Kill me
