May I ask everyone, some of the new NPCs in this mod, such as Lena, have not been beautified and seem not to be recognized by most NPC beautification mods. How should this be resolved?

Posted

For the most part the npc's provided by this mod use default generic npc appearances. Emily was focused heavily on the mechanical side of the mod and hasn't got around to putting extra effort into making her npc's look pretty yet.

Got it, thank you for your answer. Are there any currently known mods that can beautify such a new NPC?

Because all the NPCs in my game use the same style of beautification mods, these newly appearing barber NPCs in the game still have the default RM head appearance, which looks too jarring haha.

Not sure if this has been a requested addition but I have 2 things:
1- Is it possible to have the high heel training stop at the current height off heels used? It gets annoying when I'm using armor with mid-height heels and suddenly am no longer able to use them as my feet now require higher heels than what I'm currently using (or have even used).

2- Give a one time option to set your base hair style and color. I don't always have my character looks set before the mod starts and while it is possible to change the base color and length it is a bit of a pain (usually repeatedly disabling and enabling hair color and style control until it asks about the current ones again). Even a 'snooze' option when it asks about setting the default initially for a few minutes would be helpful.

Only issue I'm having is when hair is updated or checked the physics for hair and clothing items freaks out and causes parts to float or zoom off to the horizon. Using 'showracemenu' resets it all or if it's just clothing reequipping it fixes that item but I've had to limit how much the mod does anything with hair to a minimum.

Just looking at the code, that shouldn't be possible. The mod doesn't push you to wear higher and higher heels, it just compares their height against the minimum set in the MCM to determine if they should be considered heels. The only thing I can think of here is if you had bondage boots on, which can advance it to a stage where you're encouraged to wear those instead of armor/clothing heels.

I've been asking for a cleanup on high heel training for years, but I don't think Emily is all that active right now.

Last time I played I made some edits to some of the spell values for the speed buffs so that the progression from tier-to-tier better matched my expectations.  Those edits were really simple to perform, you could probably get in done yourself in like 10 minutes or less as an experience mod maker.  I'm not sure if you can access the equip controls that way though.  If you do work on it at all I would love to hear what you find.

No idea. She hasn't been active for around eight months now. The longest gap she ever took was about eighteen months and we weren't expecting her to come back that time but she did.

I hope she is Healthy and doing allright, I love the work that she did with this mod! Thanks @emily1673 hope your doing well!

The majority of armors I use have heels about 1/2 to 2/3 the height of the high heels in the mod with the highest being about the same so none come close to anything like ballet or pony boots from DD. Unfortunately I don't know how to check what the heel offset is in NIO as I have no experience with it. I have the mod set to the default value for NIO heel detection but I have no idea what typical values range between from normal heel height (2"/5cm) to ballet boots.

I've never touched NIO and have no idea where to start, skeleton and mesh work wasn't something I did (had lots of help in those areas when working on CD originally).

Good news! its actually ridiculously easy to do.  You just open the mesh in nifscope and change one number.  NiTripShape>NistringsExtraData>String Data (third number is height).   https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/70581 has great (2-3 min) videos explaining.  This change will adjust how high heels lift you off the ground, and I believe this is the number that governs "how high" yps thinks your heels are.

image.png.6ad41fed5beb115f941cc62973a9e126.png

The bad news is that I don't think this is a viable fix for your problem, since I believe yps uses this number to govern how high it thinks heels are.  If you turn it up/down your character's feet will clip into the ground or you will end up floating in the air.

I was actually suggesting editing the spells that govern the speed debuffs applied by the heels.  These are independent of the mesh for specific heels.  I don't have an active skyrim install at the moment so I can't take screenshots, but if memory serves there are 6 are so similarly named stages.  Each applies a speed modifier thats really easy to edit as its a default spell modifier in creation kit.  Additionally (if memory serves this was 5+ years ago) the spells have keywords assigned to them that flag the bondage heel stages.

My suggestion is to edit those spells rather than the boots themselves.  Adjust the speed modifier and flags of the higher tiers.  For example the very high 'damaged feet stage' (not the actual name) could just be changed to a copy of the 'experienced high heel walker stage' by changing the speed stat and keywords to match.  Your character would then effectively max-out the progression at just being at the 'experienced high heel walker stage'

I have uploaded my own speed rebalance.  I can't actually open it right now to remind myself, but it may still be working.

Darkwing's answer pretty much covers how to check the NIO offsets of your heels. It might also be listed as "HH_OFFSET", but that's just a nicer way to write a z-axis offset. I believe they're in the same units that the CK uses, where 1 unit is 0.5625 inches. If you just want a starting place, you could do the conversion into units from real-world measurements for the heel height you want. I'd recommend round down if you do that though.

From this I'm guessing the setting of '5' for where the mod recognizes the heels as high heels would be about a 2.5" heel. So should the ballet heels be an offset of around 12-14? I never did install NIFScope on this pc though I had it on my old gaming pc. Odd thing is some heels are platform boots and are close to or at bondage boot offsets but still only count as high heels. Off the top of fyour head can you tell me what the ranges are for the different boots or what quest script they are in? AS it is I probably have 50+ outfits and armors to go through to see where they fall.

The speed modifier or stages don't bother me, just trying to figure out what shoes fall into what stage is what is confusing as only a few items I have are close to DD's ballet boots/shoes or pony boots. Worst case scenario once I check over my mods and get some numbers and compare them to the mod I may alter the range values of the mod to match the items.

I don't go too crazy with outfit mods myself because most are limited to one gender or the other, so I'm limited in my reference material. Some example offsets, mostly from DD:

  • The boots from J3 Elegant Explorer: 5.2
  • Iron ring slave boots - 6.5
  • Restrictive boots, pony boots - 9
  • Iron ballet boots - 10.5

There's no ranges, it's just two checks. The first is in YpsHeelsNio.isUsingHighHeels(), which checks if the player has a position transform on the z-axis that is greater than the minimum set in the MCM and gets used whenever you equip or unequip something to see if it needs to apply or remove the "high heels" perk. The second is in YpsHeelsTicker.PlayerHeelStatus(), which assigns a status of 2 if wearing bondage boots, 1 if you have the "high heels" perk, or falls back to 0 and gets checked periodically based on the update interval set in the MCM to be used to update the training status.

I believe its a keyword/flag assigned to the items that puts them in that top tier of the bondage heels, but I don't actually know that that is the case.  Maybe something Like 'devious device' or possible even zazBondage or w/e the ancient pre-dd keyword was.  It might actually be the DD locking mechanic that matters not the height.  There is definitely a minimum height to qualify as heels at all.

That's about the limit of what I actually know, I never actually learned how all the DD mechanics work.  Definitely share what you learn if you figure it out, I was mostly just hoping to offer some easy to execute work-arounds I've found.

After going through some of my clothing/armor mods (I have a lot, B8-DB in my load order are armor mods some were combined) armor with heels fall into one of 3 categories:

- Ones that shorten the shins to give space for the heels with no outside vertical offset. These can't be detected but tend to be low so can be ignored

- Ones that use the High Heels system (older but some have not been converted to NIO). These can be detected by the enchantment added to them.

- Ones that use NIO. Can be detected by the offset amount.

I checked through 39 NIO boots/shoes from 6 different mod publishers and all with heels ranged from 5 to 11 and looking at the foot shape I would classify them as follows:

5 to <7 medium heel with the sole of the foot being at about a 30 degree angle

7 to <9 high heel with the sole of the foot being at about a 45-60 degree angle

9 to 12 Very high heel with the foot being at about a 75 degree angle. This category has exceptions: those with height of 10+ are either a DD item with a vertical foot or an angled foot with a platform. I would suggest looking for a DD keyword for shoes to advance the player  to the bondage feet level.

Some other issues are with foot shape and placement of the heel of the foot compared to the 0 point on the Z axis and is off by 1 unit or so.

ZAZ keywords were removed from DD items somewhere in V4 I believe. There is the keyword zad_deviousboots which denotes the type of item and is on the part that is actually equipped and not what is show in the inventory screen.

One issue I do run across on occasion is the NIO offset isn't correct and there is either a gap between the ground and feet or the feet are sunk into the ground a bit. If I change the value in the string data can I correct this?

Yes. Make sure to make the same change in both the _0 and _1 meshes.

Ok, hit the same issue I was having earlier with feet transitioning to 'bondage feet' without using any sort of bondage heel. These were the same boots I used when this happened before (offset of 9), sometimes it automatically removes them but I can reequip them with the message that they don't fit properly. This is an entirely new game and these are the only heels I have used so far (no DD items yet either). Even switching to boots with an offset of 10 gets me the same message when equipping them.

I can't say as I fully understand the discussion above with respect to high heel boots but, if you are playing the Dibella Quest in YPS, I have found that a mod on Nexus, Vertigo Thigh High Boots - CBBE 3BA, https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/129375 , works quite well once you have lost the DD Boots at the end of the quest.

Basically my character's feet are progressing to the 'bondage feet' without wearing bondage boots/heels.

You can turn that off (before it happens) in the MCM.

The Heels page has an option to turn off "bondage feet can't wear normal shoes" and to turn off Cinderella feet (for naked feet being stuck in the high heels position due to deformity).
