vram1974 Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 I find that Skyrim modding (downloading and installing, not creating) really lends itself to the OCD personality trait of endless tweaking. Â The weird thing is that while I'm tweaking my load order, textures, ENB, merging I always feel excited to try and finish to get everything "perfect." But the goal is illusory. When I'm finished I don't feel satisfaction, I feel sadness that the tweaking is over. Â So I'll start playing and then maybe 10 minutes in I see something and think, I can find an improvement for that. Then I spend hours finding the right mod or texture to change what I don't like. Â That also means that the mods my level 1 character starts with will probably see 50-60 ESP changes by the time he's level 60. Not the greatest for stability I bet. Â How about you? Can you resist fiddling with your setup?
blabba Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 3 years after release with lots of other titles to play. Â I really doubt people keep playing/working on skyrim cuz the base gameplay was so amazing
bloodbowl Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 Back when I uploaded mods at nexus, yes, but these days, I just mod to play. Guess 50% modding 50% playing now. I still like to make some personal projects here and there. Â (as for the question of the topic, I haven't added a new mod in days, so that's something).
sakura4051 Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 Yes i Spend more time modding then playing by far  Help Pls Im trying to use Perkus Maximous  i only have the unoffical patches intalled and when ever i try to run the patcher it tells me that the USKP master is missingÂ
Killing Joke Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 Modding is the most interesting quest Skyrim has to offer, so yeah, I tend to do it a lot.
Taskmaster Posted July 5, 2015 Posted July 5, 2015 Yes i Spend more time modding then playing by far  Help Pls Im trying to use Perkus Maximous  i only have the unoffical patches intalled and when ever i try to run the patcher it tells me that the USKP master is missing  You need the previous version of USKP: http://www.loverslab.com/topic/48936-i-made-the-mistake-of-updating-my-uskp-to-212/  As far as the thread is concerned, I spend far more time playing than I do modding. I'd say it's like 80% playing, 10% screenshots, 10% modding. It's not really load order stuff and adding new mods, it's me usually texturing stuff and/or customizing some of the things I already have in the game.
SweetLover69 Posted July 5, 2015 Posted July 5, 2015 Yes i Spend more time modding then playing by far  Help Pls Im trying to use Perkus Maximous  i only have the unoffical patches intalled and when ever i try to run the patcher it tells me that the USKP master is missing You can also follow these steps from the USKP Team: 1. Install TES5Edit. 2. Install the new Unofficial Skyrim Patch 2.1.2. 3. Start TES5Edit and select the Unofficial Skyrim Patch.esp only. 4. Wait until the message log states "Background Loader: finished". 5. Select and delete the entire Cell group. Click yes on both warnings to do so. 6. Close TES5Edit and click OK to save the modified Unofficial Skyrim Patch.esp. 7. Run your Skyproc-based patcher. 8. IMPORTANT: As a final step, you MUST reinstall the original Unofficial Skyrim Patch 2.1.2. As Arthmoor said: "for the love of Talos, don't forget to put back the proper version once you're done! BAD THINGS™ happen otherwise."  P.S. Google is helpful 80% of the time, other times you get thousands of butts.
SweetLover69 Posted July 5, 2015 Posted July 5, 2015 And for my answer to the OP, I always spend more time modding than playing whenever I have to use MO. But if it's a collection from the Workshop I'll just install it, run LOOT and play the game until I realize that my Dovahkiin can't get laid, then I'll go download the basic Sexlab setup with CBBE and SAM and play the game until it breaks, restarting all over again with a new mod list that doesn't make any sense.
Veladarius Posted July 5, 2015 Posted July 5, 2015 I play the game more than playing with my mods. Typically I only make minor changes between starting new characters, mostly just armors and such. When making a new character I will update mods that need it and may change armor sets if changing body types, as it is about the first 175 mods in my load order don't move around much.
Serithi Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Unfortunately, yeah. I'm not even especially far into the main quest (and i haven't even started any of the DLC's other than the Cultists attacking me), furthest i've gotten is Delphine sending me to meet Esbern in Riften, and i've done a bunch of side quests and some faction quests but that's about it. I really, really need to get around to completing the game proper.
Kinky Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Always waiting for some modder to finish his mod or fix it so that i can start playing
Yami X Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 I tend to have a balance between the two but right now I'm in standby mode when it comes to skyrim. Oblivion has my attention right now.
Guest Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 I find Skyrim boring these days, right down to gameplay, so I spend more time modding than even having the game open.
Martine Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 I just spent 3 days off hunched over my computer. For those 3 days I played maybe 15 minutes (if you don't count starting the game in order to test the mods). I need some sort of 12 step program I think.
Akzyra Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 If you count frustration because of 3dsmax, then yes. One thing: Fuck creating new HQ+++ teeth and morphs. That I will never attempt again (Lies, 5 months and I fail again)AND textures. But you can cheat a bit there. Â Simple static models are nice. Â Does setting up MCM and stuff count as modding? It could.
Zquad1 Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 I Spend more time doing armor conversions & general game tweaking then I do playing the game, I have beat the game at least 8 times, & I get bored with it's content BUT it's more fun to make the game more beautiful then to actually play it.
King_of_Kings Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 About 80% of my Skyrim play time is consumed with fixing CTD's and ILS's from the mass of mods I use, 15% on loading screens and the rest is gameplay. Â I really need to find a better way to group mods rather than having to wait till a mod goes out for me to switch in a new one, been stuck on 261/255 for more than a year now...
Kendo 2 Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 I've walked away from Skyrim modding. Â Mesh work for outfits is just a pain in the ass to do correctly. Â I'm back doing FO stuff now in preparation for FO4 and I'm much happier. Â Back in my modding peak two or three years ago I was cranking out content left and right. Â I had 15 pages worth at Nexus back then, but I was modding for the masses. Â Now I just mod for myself and upload here if I feel like sharing (most times I don't). Â To me, modding a Bethesda game like Oblivion or FO is more fun than playing it. Â For Skyrim...FUCK Skyrim; I have to wonder why I still have it installed.Â
Varithina Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 Considering I am rebuilding all my merged armour packs and bamm and alans bbp armour pack 1 &2, I see lots of ck time in my future
nutluck Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 At first I played a lot more, now I would say I spend 4 to 1 in favor of modding. Considering I don't make mods myself that is saying something. But I do spend a lot of time play testing mods for modders because I know they need the help. So I find I install mods to test, go to the mod and try and do everything in it and look for bugs and report back with out actually "playing" for fun.
DarkEldarArchon Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 I download a ton of mods then test them for about ten to twenty minutes of gameplay and decide "Okay a few more and I will play the game." three hours later I have so many mods downloaded I have to test the game for the next hour or so just to determine whats compatable or what my PC can handle. Now I can only play skyrim for about half an hour to an hour before my PC just gives up on me. I have about six MO saves for different mod combinations. Haha.
blazingsai Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 You can play Skyrim? I usually just convert armors and take screenshots... Been a while since I've come close to actually playing the game.
dTd Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 Still play everyday. Granted I do a lot of conversion and add mods almost daily, or remove some I've finished. Still enjoy the game as much as the day I got it, more maybe with all the newest mods.
