RM just gives you the tools, it doesn't hold your hand.

that don't make sense, aren't racemenu presets there to... hold your hand?

isn't that why you are here anyway?

and i am there for the same reason

i don't put those heads on my char, i use ece (my head is nice, i keep it), but i put them on npc (follower/ece/racemenu heads, that make no difference)

and the new verticle editor of rm hold your hand better than the one from ece, it have more tools (isn't that why it is better, because it make things easier?)

Presets still require someone to sit there and hammer out a face they found approachable, and with RM they still had to start from the bases Skyrim gave them.  RM or ECE, these presets didn't emerge from the abyss.  I just come here to look at people's character pictures, though.  Seeing what people did do can be quite informative and inspirational.  Personally, I don't use followers.  They've always been pack mules at best and obstructions at worst.

The sculpt function can be used to clean up jagged points or inconsistencies you may not have an answer for on the sliders menu, but you can't just mash it on and expect perfection.  You'd still have to figure out how it works and how you want it to first.

Me I have come here to find presets i like as starting points. As Corinthinus says all of the heads are presets, but finding one closer to what I like to start with means it takes less effort for me to get what I am looking for.

Same. I look at the overall structure of the face - eyes, hair, lips, etc can be changed but I hate working with the sliders overall. I'll fine tune them or change something like a wider jaw, nose length, etc but not for everything.

Even with my latest - Macaid - she's worked from one of the Lunari presets. I saved one in a slot, changed the race to Nord, loaded the preset, change this, add that and there she is.

So you basically implying that those ECE followers creators are lazy and they "don't know what they are doing" ?  It isn't about "don't feel like learning anything new".  Spending hours on RM slider tweaking to get beauty lvl slightly similiar to that of ECE which is acheviable in 5min - it's called effieciency.

I have to jump in here. ECE was the first tool to allow more than just making the nose bigger or smaller. So all the top talents started creating great faces with it.

But the vast mass of ECE faces nowadays are just some recycled crap. If you look at the heads from the same modder, he usually copied the head from another modder and then made 5 different followers from it. Some people even have a whole NPC-Follower overhaul mod where every goddamn face is looking the same.

Anyways, now at the end of 2014, ECE is a dusty and outdated mod. There's nothing you can do with ECE that RaceMenu can't do the same or better, plus the vast amount of features that only RaceMenu has.

And all the "ECE-Fanboys" showing up and flaming, that just shows that they are on a sinking ship - but stuck in phase 1: Denial.

edit: and to be clear, there is nothing wrong with making a decision to use mod A rather than mod B for whatever reason. But when i read "that nose is typical for RaceMenu" i can only /facepalm.

I feel the exact same way, I tend to mess things up a lot if I mess with sliders to much. So finding a good preset I can just tweak helps me a lot. :)

Funny stuff.  What's your point?

Are you really still on about what I said?   I get that English isn't your first language but um...

RaceMenuMimic.esp (Optional) Not recommended for cross-gender, cross-species, or horse-mounted use.

I didn't make this up.  It says that ON THE NEXUS PAGE.

Also RM and ECE's Scripts aren't even remotely compatible anymore.  RM is packed into a .bsa and ECE is not, so ECE's scripts will run after RM's bug out like crazy, and wreck your efforts.   You have to completely uninstall ECE and remove the related files in your directory.

and what's your point?

you are better than ece users because... you think it is harder to make a head in racemenu?

If you guys could move that ridiculous feud to the private messages or another thread, it'd be great since it's starting to look like a real clutter in here.

you can make ECE presets into RM chars

Okay but how?

At least the RM beta 3 is always hijacking the game, so if you load a savegame with an ECE character, the headmorphs are ruined once you enter /showracemenu.

The only method i'd know of would be to use this .npc file export, then load that up in the CK (like when making a follower), and then import the headmesh from that back into the game.

Not practicable for me at least.

You load the cme preset with ECE installed and save the game. Copy the values of the sliders somewhere. You quit the game slap RM on and go back in the game while also having ECE installed, load the saved game, your face will break and you will have the RM interface on showracemenu. Copy the slider values in the tabs that RM has, some of them sliders have slightly different names, but you should be able to find them all, once all values are copied your face should look like it was in ECE. save the RM preset, exit game, disable all ECE plugins but keep ECE ticked on in MO, go back to the game and load the RM preset. The face should still be okay. IF you don't keep ECE ticked on once you load the preset in RM the cheeks will be concave and that kills it.

Teruke that post is half a year old, please try to reproduce this with up-to-date mods (XPMSE 2.33, RaceMenu 3+, latest ECE with YGnord presets).

If you can somehow manage to use the "export head" function of RM, you won't need any assets or plugins from ECE anymore.

Well since the latest XPMSE update a few days ago, ECE also freezes my game when i switch to female. And since it takes something like 3 minutes to unpack the installer in NMM, i have given up on this.

Posted

first, I am still using this method today for most of my chars with all the latest versions of the mods you specified, the other one is importing follower head nifs. Even so there's still stuff that only comes as a CME slot . ECE frezes for you, that sux, lastly you are using NMM??? not a major problem, but it's hard to keep track of stuff and overwrites with it.

anyway, if you think this method sucks, the other option is to load the Cme slot, type in console -> spf "name" which will create a .npc file. You can use this in the CK to create a nif file which then can be imported into RMv3!

and then lastly you can just copy sliders values from ECE to RM, but you'll be stuck with funky cheeks.... you'll have to move HEAD SHAPE slider to 1 which will sorta make it better except for a dent near mouth corner that can be fixed by going to sculpt and use smooth brush to make it disappear.

so there you go, 3 ways you can...

Yep still using NMM.

Alright gave it a last try, the freezes when switching to female were due to the 2 racemenuplugin.esps from xpmse still being active in load order. No idea why it doesn't happen with males.

________

Now i exported the NPC files, and i'm trying to load them in the CK with all .esps from ECE active, and making a duplicate of the YGnord CharGenPreset NPCs.

But the imported NPC files always look like the "no slider" standard Skyrim heads; in fact it doesn't import any slider settings.

Next problem - where does the CK export the heads when you press CTRL+F4 without an active mod?
