problem with nexus?

Actually Nexus was on the right track when they created a special modder status with access to a privilege forum and shit...

Unfortunately they place the bar very low and the forum was as warm and welcoming as the butthole of a giant frost troll...

Too bad, the idea was right. Although I think the best will be to have a modders vs modders forum where the Moderators can see but ultimately only the modders will elect who can join or not at the end.

You modifed all NPCs eyes to be blue. That's good but you're sitll in the kid section... We may even ask for exams :)

On the other hand, let's be fair, the Nexus allowed Modders to swear and promised not to censor over there... It has been a while so I didn't checked recently but in the beginning though they more or less kept their promises.

Cheers!

Dictatorship of the TES Proletariat, in other words? That sounds reasonable (no that's not sarcasm)

First of all i am sorry if this post ends up where it shouldn't but i need someone to tell me if i'm wrong or right here. I got banned like many other users fron skyrim nexus reason being i uploaded a mod which wasn't actually a mod it was an idea for modders that i had to make modding better. My idea was the following: i own a recording studio and i am a full time musician i uploaded pictures of my studio and requested that modders can contact me if they wanted professional voice acting and recording for their mods for a fee or we could make a deal i said i mean i can't just not pay my employees for doing work for free life doesn't work like that but like i said it was a possible idea and would like people to comment rate endorse whatever and let me know what they think and i actually got great response for the few mins it was up there but anyways i got banned for charging my mod which is bs i simply needed the creator of the mod to pay me for the voice acting and recording not the guy who is downloading the mod i begged them to unban my profile and haven't geard anything since btw i never commented on any mod i downloaded or gave admins or moderators crap. What say ye ? I just wanted to make modding better it always felt like something was missing when playing a quest mod and the guys accent sounds like he's from australia and it sounded like he's standing in a bathroom. Tell me what you guys think.

The Nexus and this site for that matter do not allow money discussions regarding mods. There is too much exposure for the site as this is a huge legal grey area. You are free to have those type of discussions via PM but no advertising or requests on the boards. The big difference is we don't have a knee jerk ban fit like the nexus. :)

Yes i can see that thanks for understanding and letting me know you see i honestly did not know all of this for i am new to all this, in the music industry we just spam the shit outa everyone just to get noticed and make a point but i just wish they could've warned me.

The real issue is that you're not supposed to make any profit, at least semi-professional profit from using the construction kit even indirectly.

It's like if you were living out of advertisements from external companies by displaying the work of others...

On another note; I choose not to voice my mod for that particular reason, you look at the most popular quests mods on the Nexus and the redneck voice of some teenager completely ruined the atmosphere...

I got banned from the nexus too! I made one small mistake by uploading harmless nude pics to the wrong place, upper nude body seen from the back side.

I have read quite a lot of replies in this thread and don't want to add more complaints about the nexus. In my opinion: all has already been said.

However, getting banned from the nexus is quite a problem for lots of beautiful mods on the LoversLab! A lot of those mods require other mods that have to be downloaded from the nexus, and if these files are over 2 MB in size or are in the adult section, then you have a problem. I am trying to get Lovers with PK up and running, and planning to do so with Claudia's Little Secret, but if I have to download one essential .esm or .esp from the nexus, I can probably stop my efforts.

Any modder here might want to consider this. I was working on a nude mod myself, but had to stop as it depends on some nexus mods.

CLS related post below:

I have uploaded big files on another site, go to the CLS forum thread and we can go on from there. The other files, installation instructions and runtime should be below the 2mb threshold. I will upload the esp too, I didn't realized the 2Mb limit.

Cheers!

EDIT: Esp uploaded.

Have you called the internet service company to change you IP?

No, I haven't and I don't think I want to. In fact, the less I have to deal with the nexus, the better I like it!

It is amazing how well those tacked on license agreements work on us. I mean, just look at cars. Even with all the patents in the industry, it's still perfectly fine to mix construction kits with doing business. Car modding is good business!

Why can't Suzy pay Joe to make her a mod? Why can't Joe pay Olaf to voice act for his mod? Oh, that's right, because it says so in the license agreement of which everyone agrees on. Well, not everyone. But, I'm outnumbered in the US.

This really is a novel topic to this thread, something we haven't touched on!

Sure, there are a few ways to get around any Nexus ban, but some of us don't want to support Nexus in any way, shape, or form, whether or not we are banned. I, for one, am banned, and have no intention of using any method to circumvent the ban.

So, yeah, I just wanted to second what you said. It totally sucks that some great mods here require mods from there. This is why I'm currently only using Steam WorkShop mods! Ever since reinstalling my OS and Skyrim last month, I've just been sticking with Steam.

Have you called the internet service company to change you IP?

My sentiments exactly.

@adrenaline, Nexus doesn't IP ban everybody! Most bans just require a different email address to open a new account. An IP ban though can still be overcome by using Tor or just accessing the Nexus from anywhere else besides at home, assuming you were at home when they banned you. If you were at a coffee shop or your school or anywhere else when you registered, then you're still good to go. Let the coffee shop or school be banned! Hmmm, that's actually a good idea for anybody wanting to hurt Nexus. Get them to IP ban you over and over again as you travel the globe from one public place to another.

This is just a massive "if"(mostly because it would never happen.then again worse things have happened over less,so a man can dream can't he?) but do you think the Nexus Gestapo would pull out the banhammer over fuck all if someone (again, just an if) had the power to suddenly and permanently take one of their download servers or god forbid the man server offline?

Note.I would never condone this, but a little part of my mind that should be hit with a stick wants to hear all your opinions on it.

Bravo34: That's not even worth discussing dude. Whatever their issues (they seem to have more baggage than an overloaded 777), it's not cool to talk about that. Frankly, we should just ignore them as much as possible. If you have access to them, use them as lending library, take want you need, and leave. Don't bother trying to be active on them, just use them and leave - like a hooker... a free hooker...

You made very good points and I have only 2 things to say before I leave this thread alone.

1.I can think of at least 3 mods off the top of my head that caused the thought to sneak into my mind in the first place.

2.How dare you insult hookers by comparing them to the Nexus!

Sincerely,um......uh That dude that verbally beat a Commissar in Metro.

Dante, because I've seen him be unreasonably harsh in the past,Vagrant0 because of the Email thing that was linked on one of the first 5 pages and Doktor Grimm, because I've seen him go apeshit because someone made a comparison that he didn't agree with.(I can't remember what it was exactly, but it involved EA and Nazi's I think.)

Edit.Sorry, didn't see the free bit.I just saw hooker and my mind suddenly drew a blank.

There was an attack once, as discussed a few pages back. Then I said

DarkOne claimed it was nothing and used it to advertise while others were saying the site had been down!

http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/370686-ddos-attack-on-sites-updated/

Evil begets evil. It's blowback and some might call it justice in a community that otherwise is too lacking in character to do anything themselves. When everyone else does nothing or even goes so far as to support Nexus, then expect to reap what you sow in some form or another, even if just for a day. I would be delighted though to see more balance and more attacks so long as the community itself continues to demonstrate its lack of character and support of Nexus.

I wouldn't personally attack Nexus servers because it wouldn't be worth the legal risks. You'd have to be really invested in the community and really angry at Nexus, which I'm not. But hearing about another attack or a better one would make my day. I'd hope, too, that the one doing it would be more brave and smart than stupid and caught.

Wait, someone did attack the servers?IRL location or hacking? And like I said,I wouldn't condone it,but I wouldn't necessarily complain if did happen. As people are allowed to dream after all.(They are here at least.)

Edit.I just checked that thread so ignore question on this comment.

Edit 2.It seem that he has some asshole buddies to stop Virtual attacks. It would probably have to be IRL to do anything.I know of no people that exist outside of Hollywood's mind that would do that though.

Edit 3.I just found this little gem while going through said thread. " a Community where they welcome you, let you be involved in the forums."That is the funniest shit I have seen in the last 2 months.

Darkone claimed the attack did nothing because of his other founded company, but you can read the thread to see that he lied or just was oblivious to those who couldn't access the site. So don't believe him that the same type attack would do nothing. Personally, I think it's pretty amazing that one person was able to do a Denial of Service attack. Was it a DOS attack, really, like did the person not have to use bots or some sort of coordinated network to overwhelm a Nexus server?

But no matter what he says, if he's not using something like Cloudfare, it seems doubtful that he could do anything about a more serious or large scale attack. But that would probably involve more than one angry person to execute. And, like I said, tho I'd enjoy hearing the news, gotta say count me out, just looking at the risks vs. rewards. As if, anyway.

DOS attacks are a complete waste of time and energy. The Darkone doesn't suffer one way or another, so all that happened is the end users were locked out of the site for a bit. Way to go there sparky :(

So he punished "the man" by kicking normal people in the daddy bag? What kind of horses ass logic is that anyways?

I am no nexus fan, but neither am I a fan of knuckleheads that want to wage some sort of vigilante internet war. If you don't like the nexus, then just don't go there. Seems pretty straight forward to me.......:s

Just kill them over, and over and over in your head like I do. :P

You're only saying that because you're one of those dear Nexus members who would suffer. You're part of the problem, not the solution. :P

Granted, like I said before, I'm personally not one who would DOS attack Nexus and merely do what we both said, don't visit the site. It's not really my fight because I've got nothing in it.

So, yeah, you're either a Nexus member who is actually a fan or you're just not a fighter (except in your imagination where only there do you dream of killing them over and over again?) and slave to your modly desires satisfied by Nexus, else somewhere in between where your desires outweigh your dislike of Nexus. But from my POV, it's all the same, you're still supporting Nexus. Yuck!
