problem with nexus?

Okay this has got to be the weirdest ban the nexus has handed down yet. I've never seen a temporary ban. Occasional reinstatement yes, but never a "60-day" ban. Don't know what to make of this to be honest but it smells fishy. I've never heard of this particular member, but my guess is she has enough popularity that a lot of other members might get pissed off and leave if she were banned permanently. Otherwise, why the huge long explanation peppered with remarks about how much good she's done in the community, along with threats of "we are nexus hear us roar"?

You've got me having fun looking at their bans now too. Not sure why it's so entertaining, but it is.

As to that one, wish we could read her apology. But it's probably just as you said, judging by the number of views on her ban thread.

I just found another funny one. Dante banned Chirra today for a troll comment made 6 months ago. That's not the best part. It was under the comment thread for Rainbow Dash Cutie Mark for Werewolf where the author had slapped a Hasbro image onto the Werewolf texture, like a sponsor. The author admits he didn't create the Hasbro image or get permission from Hasbro. Copy and paste copyrighted material on the Nexus???

An aside: I get that it sucks when people leave negative comments on a mod they wouldn't use, but I don't get why anyone would want to ban someone for just doing it once. That's not trolling. That just means they probably really were offended in some way by seeing a Hasbro rainbow pasted into Skyrim, or maybe dude wasn't really offended but still thought it deserved a mean joke. Hard to tell with just one short post. But it did make me lol.

And, seriously, come on, how could someone upload a mod with a my little pony rainbow for Skyrim and not expect at least a little flack? You'd have to be crazy to be offended by any flack and not laugh it off.

That's actually quite pathetic that she was allowed a sixty day ban just because she was popular.Isn't that a bit like saying "We know you killed a lot of people in that war you just started -Insert Country name here- but we're going to forgive you because -insert reason here-?

I also think that creating sock-puppets account to endorse yourself should simply lead to permaban because you're 8 and shouldn't be on M game forum...

It should. But it just shows that there's at least two, if not three sets of rules in play, and that instead of using the common sense approach to somethings(like with the image mentioned earlier), they'll banhammer it. But because someone is special, they'll give them a timeout instead, while others who would do the same thing, get banhammered.

And shall we be the ones that to do it? :D

If all 80,000+ members of LL just started spamming the nexus then shit would go down! And then we could convince other nexus hating sites to join in our massive army! We'll be unstoppable! > : D

:P I'm kidding of course. They might sue us or something.

But if we would be able to convince 4chan...

Your ideas The Mad God and Death Parade are obviously better(Not to mention safer and saner)than mine and I agree with both of them.My safe Idea that popped into my head at the time of writing this is to pull a Vagrant0 on all the moderators. All the time. For years.I have another less safe, less sane idea, but that one would require lots of DOSH!(The second idea is one of the kind of idea that seems amusing[if your slightly insane} in your head then becomes "LOLWUT" when you actually say it.)

they aren't bethesda or activison to sue someone, in fact everybody on 4chan, somethingawful and even moddb and steam will be happy if something like this happen to bring down nexus, but is impossible for now.

Hey guys did you hear?DarkOne supports the idea behind SOPA.

Posted

That wouldn't surprise me, given DarkOne's extreme stance against piracy and the automatic banning of anyone suspected of using non-Steam versions or even a modded console version of Skyrim. But SOPA? Did he really say that or are you guessing and setting him up as a target?

Crazy me, yesterday, I must had been infected with the hive mind of the legion of anons because I somehow found myself playing around with the Low Orbit Ion Cannon to use with Tor... fail. Then further research, yeah, LOIC and Tor does equal fail. Don't try that at home unless you're mentally insane like me.

Maybe we should just stick to little funs, like maybe use DarkOne's uploaded YouTube videos against him. Anyone want to remix/edit his webcam vids and re-upload them? If done well, it could be really funny, and popular if also linked to, maybe sneak a link on Nexus pretending to ask if it's for real.

There's a difference between wanting to end online piracy and supporting SOPA. One is sensible, and the other is broken and stupid. Like thesapien said, I don't believe even darkone supports SOPA itself, but the general idea of ending online piracy.

piracy is normal

i've saw the 1st console roms being dumped for pc

the 1st pirated games(believe me or not, it was floppy disk installed games, like Doom, wolfenstein 3d and even quake were the top ones), and then quake, starcraft and etc.

even GabeN sayed that piracy is normal in the industry, but ironically the piracy became now the only way to see if a product is good or its horrible since most gaming companies fogrot the existance of Demos, Betas and trials for their own games, thats why most gamers has a little sense of fear about the final product, i know some peple that awaits the final product to be released on torrents, so they can buy it in the end if dis game is fine.

and yeah there's the: i can't buy this awesome game in my region X because is too expensive, some people can't afford the game in other countries because of money or the lack of IC, so they are forced to use an pirate version to play and have fun.

we know that piracy is bad, but we need to see the 2 sides of the same coin to find a way to solve it, no one has the right to punish someone who's using a pirated game, as someone with a pirated game can't say something about someone who owns the game.

Look arthmoor, he's now a living joke thx to his ignorance and ballickers on beth forums and nexus, and now Nexus following the same road as arthmoor.

I was actually just saying that DarkOne supports SOPA as it's sort of oppression and Anons as was said hate oppression. If he supports it or not,I have no idea.Oh Moogie, can I borrow the sunglasses thing from your sig?I'm looking for one for something and I can't find any anywhere.

I don't want to drag this off-topic too much, but I'll just toss this out there.

Ending piracy is like dreaming to end murder, or casual theft. It's nice to say, nice to dream about but it'll never happen. All you can ever do is reduce it. Heck, any store I ever worked at in retail when I was younger, 70% of our loss was from internal. At work from the warehouse side 60% of our losses are from internal thefts. I've taken a few criminology courses, I know a bit on the subject. But mass regulation, and criminalization will actually push more people towards doing it, because they feel they're already being labeled as such. Heck up here in Canada, we're voracious buyers of music online. But we're also mass pirates of music, because we have the levy system.

Anyway, I'll leave that as it is.

everybody knows about it and your made an example of.

Well, they've been using public shaming to 'keep people in line' for a long time. It's the bully tactic right. Because some people use the same pseudonyms all over the web. Where that used to be true, it no longer is. So it has less of an impact that it did 10-12 years ago, when it was shiny and new over there. And something like that would follow you.

Ok, back to dumping on the Nexus:

I find it hilarious that I am seeing more and more 1st time posters here asking for help installing a mod they got from the nexus. Things are so F'd up over there that no one helps anybody else and/or folks are even afraid to ask......

Not really surprised at that. People get banned for simple infractions these days, that they wouldn't have even batted an eyelash over 10 years ago for.
