This is not how you persuade people to your way of thinking. If you don't want people to run in the hallway you don't put up a sign that reads, "Don't run in the hallway." because what the mind reads is only "Run in the hallway." The sign should read, "Walk in the hallway."

Really. What were they expecting. A party. When I want to persuade people to my way of thinking I bring brownies. I listen. I shut up. I agree with them even if I disagree with them LoL. I didn't come here to defend the Nexus or to complain about LL or anything else. I go through tons of sites of mods and I came across this thread quite by accident. I decided to give my own, insignificant point of view...not the NEXUS or DarkOne's or anyone elses. Just me in an attempt to show how I look at things.

Thing is, the moment you spoke up and identified yourself as a Nexus moderator, you already were declaring your intentions to speak for the Nexus. Your posts, to me at least, come across as an attempt to "set the record straight." Unfortunately, that does indeed speak for the Nexus or at least it speaks for you in your capacity as a staff member.

 

I'm sure none of us assume that all of the moderators are the same or that they all agree with everything Dark0ne does or says, however by the act of joining the moderation staff you've joined the "enemy" so to speak, and obviously must agree with the staff actions to some extent or you would not have signed up. I have been a member of the Nexus longer than half of the staff but even if I were offered I would not accept. I couldn't. I don't agree with the way things are done and am not naive enough to think I'd have any real power to change things for the better.

My problem with you Zaldiir is that the first several of your posts dripped with sarcasm, unless I was misinterpreting all of the smilies you slapped on the end of your one-sentence posts. If you're here for ideas for improvement then great, but it would help if you try to address us a little more seriously. As was pointed out earlier, this thread is akin to a hive of angry bees and poking it for amusement might not be taken the way you intend.

regardless, my hat is off to both her and Zaldir for actually dropping their heads into the line of fire. Some moderators deserve all the rage (*cough* Dante, Buddah *cough*), but others, like the two here, seem more of a punch clock nature.

 

To any nexus mods reading this over: One change that could go a long way towards smoothing things over, in my mind at least, would be to give some folks a little leeway and the benefit of the doubt if it's a first offense or they're having a bad day. That might help the forums and chat room seem less like a virtual minefield.
