I was trying out Decauk's custom file and I can get the first 2-3 messages to show then it CTD's for some reason it was completely missing the "O" messages.  I also got in interesting display of "I glance at its   I glance at its  I glance at its ..." I looked in the Apropos.0.log file and it went on for several screens worth.  I'd attach it but apparently I'm not permitted to upload such a saucy file.

Anyway my questions,

- Is there a limit to the number of possible messages for a given encounter?

- Is there a sentance length limit?

- What punctuation should be avoided? (Like: ?,..., bla-bla, ", ' )

I use Beast Textures for the dragons, should be over in Adult Mods.

:(

I can't find any such files, like I said, the only mod I know that includes Dragon is Eternal black's Imersive Bodies.

If you know where I can get another then please PM me (as it's kinda OT for this thread)

Also, PM me as well. I'm missing Horses and Dragons. Also my Draugr seem to T-Pose ( as they call it now ) all the time.

1. Not really. The intent is that you can put as many lines in that you choose, provided you edits are valid Json.

2. No real limit. Although you should try to make them as short as possible without losing your intent. I say that because longer lines will be split. In the current mod version, display of segmented lines is not a perfect experience.

3. Read the OP about validation with jsonlint. It has been said that double-quotes are problematic. But single quotes (') are fine.

EDIT: Just one note - Apropos is  still in the Beta stage. Some (powerusers) who have been heavily customizing their database have been reporting on some potential performance problems - although those problems have not been confirmed.

I had this happen, using NMM to uninstall/reinstall Bestiality pack and extras (running FNIS update in between) fixed it for me.

Of course I might have just got lucky there.

Is it normal that I cant reset the wear&tear state with mcm? After restarting the game its back to default, like the change never was saved.

I got this from the forums a while back with BestialityExtras, it might have been a link or something. I tried searching, but couldn't find it. Includes meshes as well. Dragon Texture and Meshes.rar

Edit - I realized that the textures needed to be in the base textures folder. Reuploaded.

More on Bloat.

I know nothing about the technicalities, but I have found something that might help those who do. I am almost 100% certainthat the trigger (not necessarily the cause) of the problem is the MCM command to refresh synonyms.

How do I know this?

You may recall that a couple of days ago I made a post to this thread pointing out that "vagina" pops up on my screen even though I had erased it from the db. Gooser, with characteristic patience, asked me if I had pressed refresh. Oopsies. I hadn't. So I did. Then the bloat happened. At first I made no connection, but after I reloaded an earlier, unbloated game, I noticed vagina pop up again. The uncontaminated (unbloated) save predated my pressing refresh. That was when I began to suspect that refresh button was the trigger. I played for a few hours with the uncontaminated save game. No bloat. Then I pressed refresh. After a couple of hours my game play started to lag. I looked at the save files. And bingo. Bloated up to 45,000KB (form 13,000KB). Based on this evidence I am pretty sure that refreshing the synonyms somehow triggers the bloat. The cause might be deeper, but I am now certain that synonyms have something to do with it.

I'll try that on my game as well, see what happens, using my custom db and no refresh. That being said, when I attempted to cause the bloat/CTD with the stock Apropos install, I actually used the Refresh button to set the files back to what they were originally. So, Refresh was used, but I still wasn't able to trigger the CTD despite being able to reliably do so before.

Whatever it is, I'm pretty sure it's nothing that can be triggered with a stock Apropos install, it works more or less perfectly.  The issue is only happening with a custom db on my end.

Earendil, what does that file do? Is it a fix for this issue?

Certainly seems to work, thanks dude.

I haven't had a huge amount of time to test, but here's the results.

Custom db file, Refresh button clicked, Whiterun used (I have a huge amount of NPCs in the Whiterun tavern, including two NPC wenches), lots of jobs done including Military Camp, no save bloat or CTD. This would usually be enough to force the issue. I'll try pushing it further later and report back.

Assuming this is fixed, I'm gonna test lag caused by tags next. I remember having faster, more reliable messages when I removed the tags from a previous version of Apropos, and I'm gonna test if that's still the case. Certainly doesn't seem to affect the stock db, but I may have went overboard with tags in my own custom. Gonna trim that back and see if I can find a good balance. Orgasm messages always seem to be fine, but startup messages seem most affected, so I'll begin there.

Thanks for this, Earendil. I have not yet tried it, but if it works, you are truly our morning star!

Just one question. Is it intended to work as prevention or cure? What I mean is this: will it remove bloat from a save that I put hours of play into for the past two days before I realized I had bloat, or will it just prevent an earlier save from catching the disease? Both solutions are great, but the former is obviously even better.

Many thanks!

I hope it also will work as cure, didn't tested it on bloated saves.

Further to my message #362 (four posts above), in which I suggested that refreshing synonyms might be the cause of bloat.

I am certain that the cause is rooted in Apropos, but probably only Apropos with customized messages, since I got bloated only after I started customizing my messages. That seems to be the case with everyone who is experiencing the bloat. So far as I am aware, the default Apropos is safe. I have done four things that might have caused my problem:

1) I changed and refreshed a few synonyms, as noted above. I took the liberty of changing some single words (vagina) to hyphenated (fuck-hole) or even two separate words with a space between (cunt hole). Would the hyphen or space be a factor?

2) I introduced extra punctuation. Single quotation marks (' not ") for direct speech, as well as exclamation marks, commas, question marks etc. JSON did not object to any of these changes.

3) A few of my messages became longer--long enough to need two lines of text (and therefore two messages). If I understand Decauk and Earendil correctly, this might be the root of our problems. I have noticed a kind of jerk as the second line of text gets displayed. I thought nothing of it at the time. I assume that the bloat will begin only when a long message is actually displayed, so (since messages appear randomly) long messages might be a ticking time bomb for those who have them in their game but have not yet seen them on screen.

4) I took the liberty of repeating some synonyms in a single message, so {PUSSY} would appear twice. Again, JSON did not object.

So far as I recall, these are my only changes--though I changed a lot of messages (usually making them longer).

I shall try Earendil's fix and see what happens!

The fix has to do with missing token replacements that are required during the process of building the final description string. It could be that in the process of building custom synonyms the files were not parsing because there was something invalid in them from a Json perspective, and resulted in empty entries being provided. That's my theory. I never saw bloat.

Your db file was fine, bloat seems to be something we've caused.

Posted

Yes, never had any problems with the original db. Only after I customized it.

I have now used Earendil's fix for about half an hour.

The good news: no bloat in my latest save.

The bad news: no Apropos messages at all. Nada. Whether at the beginning of an animation or the end, stony silence.

I put the fix in the data/scripts folder, overwriting the file of the same name that was already there. (Presumably I was meant to do that).  But now there are no messages. Since the messages seem to be what was triggering the bloat, I do not know whether the fix works to stop the bloat (since the triggering message no longer happens). Have I done something wrong? Was I simply meant to copy the file over the one already in data/scripts?

I did the same, and my messages still appear. Dunno what you could have possibly done.

He shared with me that he tested with one of the customized files for FemalePC-Male, boobjob was using an unsupported token for that type of sex act. Currently certain sex acts (anal, vaginal, boob, oral) only are pulling in specific tokens, so an unsupported token in the description exposed a bug where an infinite loop was entered, creating lots of temporary string objects. And when you save a game in Skyrim, the state of executing methods are saved...

Yes, so the "bug" exists because of db customization (did I not say "for the adventurous" ??? ) and hit a problem in the token replacement code.

I'm not sure what is causing your current silence, and I'm currently on a business trip that has me away from my main skyrim dev machine, so I can only theorize at this point.

I will say in the next release of Apropos I will be completely revamping the whole description system, but not the format of the files.

I appreciate you two poking this thing with a stick and Earendil's help in looking at the code while I am away. You guys are great beta-testers.

Love the mod, having the issue of the text in {**} the brakets are not being displayed, along with not aving any descriptions in the middle of the sex animations, sometimes in the begining and the end, i get "fills your for the first time" when i belive it should say "Bandit fills your pussy for the first time" missing the Bandit and pussy part of the text.

*Edit* ok i reset everything and it now fills in those blank spots, still a great arousing mod, enjoy it alot, thank you, and look foward to the updated and improved descriptions. now i hav another issue that has arrised, the text dosent display at all or is very quick and i am able to read it in the counsole comand tho.

Posted

ok so i looked back a few pages and all i could see was something with a "bloat" issue, dunno what that is but i don't think i'm having that problem, but the problem i AM having is this.

The text is displayed from bottom to top instead of top to bottom.

What i tried to do was make my own text, with like a paragraph instead of a sentence, and while trying to get this whole thing working its really throwing me off but the ending of my text shows up before the beginning so that the last sentence that stays on the screen longest is the very first one.

I tried just cutting and reversing the text order so it would display it correctly but to do that i have to figure out how much text is displayed per line and well...that's tedious and just not worth counting letter per letter and trying to match exact amounts and then putting them all there backwards...and then doing it a dozen times

is there any way to get the text to display the correct way, or maybe just increase text size so you can just display the whole thing without needing a microscope to read it?

That's not a bug, that's normal. It's not the mod, it's down to the way Papyrus handles the messages.
