gooser Posted January 8, 2017 Author Posted January 8, 2017 I just reinstalled the latest version of this mod after starting a new playthrough and even though the mod is turned on, it still says that my character isn't being tracked. Is there something I'm missing? In a log or MCM ? In the MCM menu. The mod is turned on, but it says "Player is not currently tracked for Wear and Tear". Yes, normal. Meaning nothing has happened to start tracking. Once the PC receives abuse (via animations marked as aggressive, or as victim), tracking starts.
AnonAngelion Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 Something is going wrong with the latest version for me, I try to download it onto NMM but the progress report keeps saying its moving the file to NMM but never finishes, I waited for it to move while I watched a half an hour long video and it still isn't done, given that the mod is only 13MB in size, I don't think its working. Maybe your disk was worn out, mine does that last year, replace the drive and problem solved. If you are talking about downloading from LL, I have that happen from time to time as well... and it is not the computer's hard disk. It has happened on 3 different computers I use. Occasionally LL's servers are bugged and downloads fail. People talk about using different browsers when that happens but I've never had success. I usually have to wait 2-3 days and then the downloads work again. It doesn't seem to affect all downloads though, as I can download other mods in the meantime. The problem only seems to be happening with the apropos mod for me presently, I tried downloading this mod again after a few days, got the same problem, then tried to download a different mod and it downloaded it to NMM immediately without issue, so I think there's an issue with Apropos, Upon looking at the files, there doesn't seem to be a FOMOD installer file, all mods that I've had issues downloading in the past to NMM have been missing this particular file, that's all I can say, I'm not sure what a FOMOD is exactly or why its important, I just know that every time I've had this failure to finish downloading its been a missing FOMOD.

Nope. Fomods are an old system for providing a custom menu when the mod installed. Apropos doesn't currently require a custom menu. I have never used it. I just re-downloaded the file. It's fine. Problem's on your side mate. Maybe a NMM issue? I haven't used NMM in over a year. MO is the way to go.
BrimstoneOmega Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 I literally just stumbled upon this mod a couple of days ago and downloaded and installed it just fine. I'm using MO though so don't know about NMM. As to the mod, it works really well, it adds and interesting depth and immersion to SL stuff in Skyrim. I really like it so far, thank you to the author!

If you are relying solely on NMM for your downloads and it isn't working, try downloading the file manually and the install it through whatever method NMM has for doing so. I use MO so I can't help with that part, but I always download all mods manually so I can save the install files in case I want to remove or reinstall something, or make any other tweak like adding my own readme file (copy paste off the mod's page or something) or screen shots showing locations, previews, etc. If NMM has an issue and cannot install mods without a FOMOD then IT is the problem and wouldn't install probably 3/4 of the mods I have.
ViceVise Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 Suppose I take the time to write up Apropos messages for each registered animation in my SexLab database, what folders/files can I or can't I delete? Because I'm thinking that since this just adds flavor texts during scenes, not the animations themselves, it'd be safe to delete whatever I know I won't be using. But I have a feeling there's a bit more to that.

But I have a feeling there's a bit more to that. If you have files for each animation, you could pretty much delete any of the other descriptor files, though you might want to leave the vaginal/oral/anal just as backups. The control files like themes, uniqueanimation, synonym and the rest you'll need to keep but anything else could probably go. Worst case you delete something you need, the log will tell you or something will just not fire, and you pull that file back out of the zip you downloaded. (Why I download them manually as I suggested to Chaos Angel).
gooser Posted January 10, 2017 Author Posted January 10, 2017 I've said this before and I will repeat it here. The best system seems to be a combination of unique animations AND tagged based. As long as animators are churning out new animations, we will need tag-based to provide some kind of support in the interim. But go ahead, by all means, chop up your system.
Starfire12 Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 The Unique Animation texts don't work for me. Whenever a UA plays, the apropos "narration" picks descriptions based on the tags instead. To troubleshoot this, please post an Apropos0.log after enabling trace-level debugging in MCM. Just tried doing that now, however I couldn't find my Apropos0.log file, as a matter of fact despite enabling Debug and Trace messages in MCM, I don't have a "logs" folder in my My Documents\my games\Skyrim\ folder at all. Is there another step I need to do before I can get these logs? I have a papyrus log in my main Skyrim folder no problem, just nothing in the my games\Skyrim\ folder.

gooser Posted January 10, 2017 Author Posted January 10, 2017 Hi. I'm having problems with the stumble animation. My character just sorta twitches whenever it procs. Any ideas? Stumble animation? Do you mean the stagger effect? That's not an animation, its a magic effect applied for 4 seconds that uses the archetypical "stagger" in Creationkit. No animation.
cloudedsun Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 So the twitching might be from something else then.

I just uploaded a new version today. Have you tried that? Yes I just tried it, its still not working, I don't get it, as one of the users stated a while back in the comments, I have had moments with NMM where it would mysteriously move a file to NMM without finishing, but that would fix itself within a day or so, I've been going back to this mod trying to download it for over a week now and have downloaded a few other mods with success since, I'm stumped, I suppose it might not be the FOMOD thing, as out of all the 240+ mods I have installed, as another user mentioned there's bound to be many that don't use that system and they work fine, I dunno. EDIT: Some other users have posted some tips so I'll try those and see if I get any luck, sorry to be a pain, I'll let you know if I get it to work.
Pyrus Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 I just uploaded a new version today. Have you tried that? Oddly enough, I can't install the new version with NMM (so far) but I have the previous 12-19 installed through NMM. For a little clarity, I am downloading manually and adding through NMMs function for adding non-nexus/manual mods and like the previous poster the status on the mod being added seems stuck on "moving". The mod does go into the mod list and the zip ends up in NMMs mod archive folder almost instantly. It seems to be getting hung up on something else. I'm sure it's an NMM issue, it always hates mods with large directory structures.... Update, it finished it's moving BS. Note, I repacked the mod with 7zip's default settings (18mb file) and it seemed to finish faster than I had waited either time I tried the original. Edit: Chaos Angel, try unzipping and repacking with 7zips default settings, or just be patient with NMM. I think I had trouble with the older version as well but just walked away and came back later. Try an hour long video instead of half hour.

Well if you put it that way, maybe its not about the FOMOD, coincidentally the few times I've had issues and looked in the mod files for clues, I've just noticed they didn't have a FOMOD file, but I'm sure out of the 240+ mods I have, there are plenty that don't use FOMOD's, its very difficult to pinpoint the cause of hiccups with modding when there are so many variables and you know you've covered all the basic steps, all one can do at best is eliminate every possible cause until things start working. :/

Good god, for a 13MB file, a half an hour video should be enough lol , but I will try what you said, I'm not sure what you mean by "Unzip and Repack" tho, do you mean extract to a new folder and then turn it back into a 7zip file? if that's even possible, I'm not sure what my 7zip settings are as 7zip is my default download format and I've never had a reason to look for the settings, I don't even know how to access the 7zip settings, right clicking on the zip file just brings up a list of useless looking options like compressing and emailing and shizzle, as well as extracting of course. :/ I have an option to "Add to Archive" after I've extracted to a new folder, which appears to have 7zip settings inside, it says my 7zip "Dictionary size" is 16MB's, is that what your talking about? next setting after that is 24MB's if I were to increase it, I don't know what it does tho, it goes as low as 64KB's to as high as 1024MB's, It doesn't sound like what your referring to tho. The only thing I see that says 18MB's is a locked message at the bottom of the window that says "Memory usage for compressing 192MB's" and "Memory usage for decompressing 18MB's", but I can't change those.

That is the point, along with the debuff effects. If you are experiencing W&T an occasional stagger (only as frequent as 1x per hour) clearly indicates the state of the player. Edit: Chaos Angel, try unzipping and repacking with 7zips default settings, or just be patient with NMM. I think I had trouble with the older version as well but just walked away and came back later. Try an hour long video instead of half hour. What are your machine's specs? Apropos does have a considerable number of files because of the database. At one point I had the db as a separate download. Perhaps I should move to separate them.
Eddie Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 Hey Gooser!First, congratulations for Apropos, i use it for years now! I'm trying to change a bit the Wear&Tear damages, I know I can't change the number of points to reach each abuse level, but I wanted to know this numbers, so I can make the changes I want!
AnonAngelion Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 The stagger effect is so weird, it would happen when I run and it makes me, the player, twitchy as I expect something to be targeting me. That is the point, along with the debuff effects. If you are experiencing W&T an occasional stagger (only as frequent as 1x per hour) clearly indicates the state of the player. I just uploaded a new version today. Have you tried that? Oddly enough, I can't install the new version with NMM (so far) but I have the previous 12-19 installed through NMM. For a little clarity, I am downloading manually and adding through NMMs function for adding non-nexus/manual mods and like the previous poster the status on the mod being added seems stuck on "moving". The mod does go into the mod list and the zip ends up in NMMs mod archive folder almost instantly. It seems to be getting hung up on something else. I finally got it to download, it appears what Pyrus said is correct, it does download but it takes a really...really...REALLY long time to move the files lol, I think I let it download for approximately between an hour and 2 hours and it finally finished, now to have a look at whats new yay! lol, thank you Pyrus for the advice and thank you Gooser for the great mod.
