Amox's ChocoElf Recretaion Research

Ack been busy with work so I didn't get alot of time to fiddle around.

Terrible. I tried exporting the photofit facegen file to my oblivion save and it turned out nasty. Looks like the lazy man's way just ain't gonna do it for this fine beauty, it's all going to have to be manual CS work and if only facegen wasn't such a %&&^&$ piece of s***. Definitely will not want to post the pic of my failed attempt up here cause it might scar you. Oh and I know someone's asked before and you've answered and I've done a few experiments myself but I'm not sure if I'm doing the skin tone right. Did you guys turn off bFaceGenTexturing? I've done the glossiness option for the body meshes but I'm unsure which head mesh i should be looking at (and the biggest fail: which folder is it in """-_-) And is Chocolate Elf (ren) the right way to go or Xeo? Sigh I got all the tools but not their right configuration, if someone can give me a definitive guide to bring me up to speed you have my gratitude and my efforts in making this thing a success. (Sick of looking at long threads that point me here there and everywhere but lead me no where.)

That's really possible, besides: look at this ryu44's blog entry. Here he posted some screenshot of a character which really resembles Kari's work.

Just reiterating Amox's post, there's a link that shows the values when trying to replicate the ChocoElf face: http://ryou44.blog111.fc2.com/blog-entry-34.html

I must warn you all that even with the help of these values there is still much tweaking needed to get the face to look "right", but at least it's a good place to start with. Strangely enough, the values for forehead and brow sliders have been omitted. As to why this is, I'm not sure. I can only guess that ryou44 didn't want people to completely replicate the ChocoElf (though highly unlikely lol), or that the face had no need of changing such values, which brings up the old question as to whether or not the face may have originally been created via CS/FaceGen but modified through "showracemenu" ingame.

Lol I spent 2 hours of my life on those sliders. It's possible to get like 1st and 2nd set right but on the 3rd set the values refuse to work, meaning you can get like 3 slider values the same as the blogs but the fourth one would not fit no matter how many times you go back and forth. Value will always differ by like 4 or 3 from the blogs'. Frustrated me to no end when I found out.

Ryou's instructions are pretty old.  I think it even predates XeoRC4, so I wouldn't be surprised if those values don't mean much anymore since the default facial settings themselves have changed.

Quite frankly, I don't even think the choco-elf is even one of of Ryou's most impressive works compared to his humans in particular (there is one smokin' wood elf also).  She just seems particularly photogenic.

To each his own but I beg to differ. She's awesome and she's the reason why this thread even started! And judging by your statement I'd say she left quite an impression on you, for your use of the words "particularly photogenic".

C'mon just admit it you're as obsessed as we are  ;)

@Amox: so did my facegen values work? (Though I've got a nagging feeling it's a big no)

Bumping this oldie goldie by saying that editing the files pink mentions on page 1 with the tool posted on page x yielded perfect results. Altho I am wondering how to max the gloss while wearing armor. Not a biggie but would be nice.

To have the glossiness on your character even when wearing clothes, you can max the glossiness of the clothes :D Just go to the clothes' .nif files and manually set the the glossiness to 100 or use Glossmax. I hope this helps.  :)

Yeaah.... I guess the problem is I have a million articles of clothing, gl finding the ones I'm wearing atm. :b (The names don't often match.)

If you haven't glossed the clothes as well, the skin will appear greyish while wearing clothes.  Also the shots that people have uploaded here are in very specific lighting so if you're trying to get an exact duplicate make sure you check to see if it looks the same under similiar lighting conditions.

For shaders I personally use the OBGE water pack with godrays, basic DoF and HLSL color grading.

Right I'm definetely doing something wrong here so could anyone write down the minimum requirements to get this working in one post because I'm lost here

Currently I have downloaded

- Modular beautiful people 2ch edition (full) 1.4a

- MBPpp_Chocolate_Elves-37368-0-3-8

- MBP_Plus_Plus_086_Full-37368

- MBP_Plus_Plus_090_Sub-37368

- x117__076

- XEOSP_1.0

- XEO5obse

- xeorc4 1.5

- SKS REN's 00

Either I'm missing some mods or I'm doing this wrong. It seems all of the xeo races are messed up for me atm basicly when I load up showracemenu etc and go from chocolate elves, chocolate elves (ren) they work fine but when I get to xeo I'm definetely missing something I mean my character turns into some sorta nasty brown goo and the city walls of imperial city go missing xD now if I choose to click done after this horrible mess My character only has teeth and eyes flying in the air basicly my entire body is gone but at least the city is there lol.. Sooo guessing I'm missing some kind of meshes or my install order is wrong.

If anyone has any advice plz send them my way xD totally lost here

I have begun to read that thread: I always wanted this beautiful + oily + sexy chocolate elf since I saw it a long time... great work guys  ;)

Can someone upload (anywhere is fine) a choco elf oiled face texture' date=' please?

[/quote']

I don't think there is an oily face texture. To make your character shine like bulb you just have to max the glossiness of head meshes by Nifskope.

Heh, for now we're using fg109's version as it's (imo) the closest looking one.. and also everyone is taking a break, heh.

Thanks for reply. It's maxed, but there is still huge gloss difference with body, so I thought I needed olied head skin texture too.

Yes.

So this is Ren's choco elf, it uses Rens head. There are two of them in meshes folder for male and female I believe, changed them both just in case, deleted *_n10.dds, *_n20.dds and so on. Oh, and I did save export from other save, uploaded somewhere here, maybe that's a problem. I'll try to create new character w\o exporting face, should work, I hope.

You should check in CS which head model uses the race your are playing and change the diffuse and specular + glossiness to 100.

The alpha channel in normal map for the face texture can influence that glossiness a lot. When I first was playing around with the gloss factors on the mesh, I was commonly getting what Squares is getting.

I wasn't working with chocolate elves though. The oiled textures for the head (say from Ozmo) help a fair bit, but I had to tinker with the levels of color (blakc grey and white) on the alpha channel to get better results. Otherwise not enough light is reflected to produce the gloss.

So I've been having some issues getting Chocolate Elves to function properly. It seems as though their ear textures are missing or something, I'm not quite sure - it's just whenever I go to create a character and select x117 Chocolate Elves, their ears are completely black. If I go to the other Chocolate Elves versions (non-x117), their ears show as white skin tone.

This is an installation order similar to what I first noticed the problem with, and I've been trying different re-installation orders for awhile to no avail:

MBP 1.4 > BP Chocolate Elves 1.00 > MBP++ 9.1 > x117++077 > XEOSP > XEOSP++ > XEORC4

...another order I tried was XEORC4 before XEOSP.

EDIT: Okay, through careful testing I've found the issue lies with XEOSP++. Without it, both Xeo's chocolate elf and the x117 chocolate elf are invisible, however when added, their ears are broken. I can only assume there are missing textures/meshes, but I'm not 100% certain how to proceed. Thoughts?

I am familiar with nifskope :P I've put together a few armor mesh replaces using it. I did the glossy step too' date=' but still the skin is too grayish. Ah well, I guess it is because of OBSE.

Also, I can't wait to see your new save! XD

I'm still fighting with the eyes but at least it's got that horizontal alignment I've been looking for. It's tough making her look Asian without slanting the eyes inward though. As for the chin, I hope I got it right this time. It should be rounder and sloping downward much smoother than before.

Hello, sorry for the question, but which alternative start mod are you using exactly? I'm trying to load your save file for the choco elf. I'm using the one where it starts you in ship's cabin, but your save file actually says "Imperial Prison" but the in-game preview picture of the save file shows you to be in the ship's cabin. I still crash on loading it up, haha. I know there's another alternative start mod that starts you in Leyawin on the nexus site. Thanks for reading!

**EDIT** Okay, I loaded the new saved files provided and it worked, but there's no body or head. I have the XEO and chocolate elves lop installed. When I try to edit my race it crashes. :P

**EDIT 2** Nevermind, I just had to install the Xeo Chocolate Elf race in particular. Doing a Google search did the trick. xP
