megadomonic Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 Hey... Who is this Karismasu person anyway? Does he or she have a website?
canthics Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 You didn't know? She's a chocolate elf. She's just trying to make own character in the game. At least that's what I'd like to think.
evangelion Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 it's not look like Kari's face 100%. this is my whole time in this game. Thanks you miniAKIBA because your save that i can make this awesome thing. Sorry i'm bad at eng. if i say something wrong sorry about that.
megadomonic Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 Heh, I see. I was wonder if Karismasu was the name of that character or the creator. I wanna know who created it and if they have more works of it.

Thanks you miniAKIBA because your save that i can make this awesome thing. Sorry i'm bad at eng. if i say something wrong sorry about that. Very nice and you're welcome. I plan on working on my Chocolate Elf some more next week and I will upload a new save file. But at this rate I'm close to agreeing with Amox in that the face had to be manipulated through the CS somehow. I can come close to getting the eyes and eyebrow but not exactly as Kari had hers. And even if the particular screenshot of her elf was in the middle of an expression' date=' her neutral face still looked way too unique to be able to replicate through just the ingame character creation sliders. I won't give up though, but hope is starting to dwindle down lol... [b']EDIT[/b]: Err, I should say CS and/or FaceGen....

Ah sorry, I meant to talk about Kari, like how she made her Chocolate Elf. But I do see the changes you made on yours, and it looks great.
canthics Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Has anyone tried using these face settings with other races? Do they look okay?
miniAKIBA Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Has anyone tried using these face settings with other races? Do they look okay? For the most part they look okay. I took a quick-and-dirty screenshot of two different races with my ChocoElf's face imported onto them. I'm sure with a little bit of tweaking they'll look a lot better. Seems like my face imports mold a lot better on XEO-specific races (e.g. Xeo, DarkElf, etc.) as opposed to XEO-modified races (e.g. Imperial I, Nord II, etc.).
pink Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 I did the same with Tabaxi Mini. The result was horrifying; probably caused by another head mesh being used.
Shizune Posted March 19, 2011 Author Posted March 19, 2011 Wow, got back home at least. I forgot to provide you with a savegame of my character. Gotta sort old saves though.
canthics Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 I'm trying to crack Ryou's methodology in general. The number of zomg hawtness pics on his blog is insane, and the chocoelf is by far the most "studied" so far. Even if it's not his original creation, he sure as hell knows how to replicate it.
Socratease Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 I admit when I first heard my friend talk about chocolate elves, I was a bit skeptical. I guess I'm not really the sort who likes to get caught up in empty rhetoric. So I did some poking around on google and downloaded the original chocolate elves by XenoGenesis. I'm a newbie when it comes to modding, so from my limited experience, the only thing I can say that his work, from a modder's point of view, was good, but aesthetically, the thought of bedding that creature on my character screen was a very distant second (even after alot of tweaks). So I nearly dismissed this race as all hype. A few days later my curiosity got the better of me again, and I did another search on google, this time using the image function. Aside from the few odd pictures, and lots of cadbury chocolate elves, nothing caught my eye. So I wondered what kind of images would appear if I turned off the moderate search function. I don't think I ever regretted doing that. Cause the image of that elf you guys are trying to recreate, oh boy, she struck home somewhere. And like the rest of you, I've grown obsessed with her looks. Call it fate but that image of her with all that silvery and sinewy goodness dripping from that lovely mouth is the reason why I'm writing this post now and the cause of me stumbling onto your magnificent research project and your noble cause (though mine for the character Kari's cleary isn't). And because I want you guys to succeed so much I have some information that may or may not help you. I fiddled around with the face gen program and I photo fitted the Kari Elf's face. I think these face gen values might solve the problem with her mouth and eyes: Mouth drawn/pursed: -0.32 "Happy/sad: -0.02 Mouth lips deflate/inflate: +1.4 "" large small: -1.15 ""pucker/ret: -0.96 ""lips thick: +0.50 ""potrude: -1.06 mouth tilt up/down: -0.76 overbite underbite: -0.37 mouth up down: -0.54 mouth wide/thin: +0.50 chin distance: +0.22 Eyes Up/down: +2.07 small/big: -1.25 inward/outward tilt: -1.59 apart: -3.28 I have her facegen file which I can pass to you guys if you want it but the texture is all messed up thanks to her fringe. If someone can get a good photo of her without so much of that hair in the way, it'll turn out better. But at least her mouth and one eye is accurately generated. Hope this brings you guys one step closer to perfection.

Things are getting promising.
Renax Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 hmm when I try your saves I either Crash or there's an invisible Character I'm playing :/ help?
canthics Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 It's most likely an incompatible race issue. Try importing the face settings rather than load the full save.
canthics Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 The chocoelves on this thread mostly use Chocolate Elf Xeo Female from XeoRC4.
Renax Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 Thx I got the saves to work, but they don't even look close to what they look like on the pics D:
miniAKIBA Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 @ pink: Most likely the difference in head meshes used is the reason. @ Amox: Yep, post the save(s) when you get a chance. @ Socratease: Welcome to the club! We were enchanted by this particular ChocoElf's beauty just as much as you were, which is why we're sacrificing blood, sweat, and tears to replicate it. It would be easier if the creator had released a save file but alas such a thing probably never happened... Thanks for the tip regarding FaceGen, though. Looks like it'll really be useful. @ Renax: I'm willing to guess that you probably don't have the glossy skin effect. Read the first few pages of this thread we have instructions on how to do it right.
Renax Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 No I did do that. I did read through the whole thing but I ended up kinda confused, would be nice with just one post even though it's not under download thread. Also I got no eyeballs
miniAKIBA Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 True. If anything I recommend GlossyMax. As for the missing eyeballs, that's due to missing textures (and possibly meshes, too) that usually results from an improper installation order of MBP and XEO. Personally, I have MBP > MBP++ > XEO5 > XEORC4 installed in that order; I know it's far from perfect, but it works well enough for me. Otherwise, perhaps you have other "beauty" mods that are conflicting? Btw, were you trying to load the save file ingame, or did you import a face from the save via Wrye Bash?
miniAKIBA Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 2) Perhaps this screenshot was taken from a slight angle from above looking downward' date=' which as far as I know, is the only other way to achieve the same effect.[/quote']That's really possible, besides: look at this ryu44's blog entry. Here he posted some screenshot of a character which really resembles Kari's work. Just reiterating Amox's post, there's a link that shows the values when trying to replicate the ChocoElf face: http://ryou44.blog111.fc2.com/blog-entry-34.html I must warn you all that even with the help of these values there is still much tweaking needed to get the face to look "right", but at least it's a good place to start with. Strangely enough, the values for forehead and brow sliders have been omitted. As to why this is, I'm not sure. I can only guess that ryou44 didn't want people to completely replicate the ChocoElf (though highly unlikely lol), or that the face had no need of changing such values, which brings up the old question as to whether or not the face may have originally been created via CS/FaceGen but modified through "showracemenu" ingame.

Ryou's instructions are pretty old. I think it even predates XeoRC4, so I wouldn't be surprised if those values don't mean much anymore since the default facial settings themselves have changed. Quite frankly, I don't even think the choco-elf is even one of of Ryou's most impressive works compared to his humans in particular (there is one smokin' wood elf also). She just seems particularly photogenic.
Shizune Posted March 21, 2011 Author Posted March 21, 2011 Here they are. Few faces I've made (the best of them all). The only races I've been using here are Chocolate Elf Xeo Female and Chocolate Elf x117 Xeo (or something like this, the loli race).
