What resolution do you play Skyrim at?

I play the game at 1920x1080 all the time, not by choice but both my laptop screen and desktop monitor are 1080p. I just build a new desktop recently and am still using my old spare monitor, I am wondering if getting a higher resolution monitor like 2560x1080 will drastically improve visuals. I am not too worried about performance hit of playing at higher resolutions because I got ample fps(60 indoors, 45-60 outdoors) with my current ENB at 1080p, I can probably take another 10-15 fps while still feeling comfortable.

Specs:

i5-4670k 4Ghz

overclocked gtx770 4GB

8GB RAM

1TB seagate ST1000 hybrid drive

Anyway what resolution do you play the game at? Any merry souls play at a resolution higher than 1080p?

Going above 1080p will certainly make things look better, with resolutions it's a rather straight forward case of "More = Better" in terms of visual quality. So if you can, and still get good FPS, it'll look nicer.

But it's not vital, 1080p is basically the sweet-spot where things start to look good, anything above that is just added confetti.

2560 x1440(ordered a amd 290x but canceled the order becouse reorder a asus Direct CU II custome made 290x) so bought a new LG-ips WQHD monitor so get full potential of the videocard hehe.

Still waiting for damn videocard prolly end of january :(

P.S If you not already have guys INSTALL grass on steroids(specially for low end machines a must(SFO is also needed(dont get lushgrash its fps eater) and put the line under [grass] in your skyrim ini: iMinGrassSize=120(around 80 i had 12fps) it will improve your FPS alot outdoors. Had to do this playing with 2560x1440 with  AMD 7970 to have decent FPS on avarage around 30+ FPS this i get in ultra with everything max.

RealVision-RLO-CoT-Skyrim HD 2K packs and most aMediumborn improved texture mods

Good ol' fashioned 1280x1024. I use this resolution partly because I don't think my graphics card could handle anything more, but I also hate widescreen monitors. Still got this 7-8 year old 20" monitor and don't think I'll be buying another one for a while. Or at least until this one kicks the bucket.

I am running at 1920 x 1200 with an i-5 and a 7850 2gb on a 24" monitor. I am getting about 30 fps outdoors and 60 indoors, had higher frame rates but the HDT physics plugin dropped them about 25%.

1600x900 with an i3-3240 @  3.4Ghz, Nvidia GTX 660 2Gb, 8Gb ram and windows Vista. Was originally an emachine $400 computer when I bought it in 2008. But the only thing remaining of that is Vista (which has yet to need a re-install) and the hard drive it is on. Everything else has been replaced one piece at a time. Average 60fps limit indoors and 45-60 outdoors on ultra with all settings at max.

1680x1050 its playable if enb is not turned on. I have kinda low rig

  • Intel core duo e4600 2,4mhz
  • 4g ram
  • GTS 450 1vram
  • win7 and XP

I use mostly HQ textures for armours/weapons and interiors and it runs smooth.

1920x1080 (+ 1680x1050 as 2nd work monitor) at 60 fps using K ENB Extreme and maximum sized HD textures.  :)

GPU: GTX 780 @default clock

CPU: i7 4770

RAM: 16 GB

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 2.13 gHz

GPU: nVidia GTS450

RAM: 4 GB (though Win7 detects merely 3 GB)

Res: 1920x1080

I did a little upgrade like two years ago when Skyrim came out and luckily my computer managed to get along with it. Actually it runs the game at High settings and even copes with ENB config at the same time which, at least to me, is pretty impressive. I'm going to completely change the PC in the near future when GTA V comes out.

The last time I changed computer is going to be 7 years ago from now and I grew both pretty patient and easily impressed since to get anything work on this relic is hell of a work.

Whatever your monitors native resolution is what is recommended. (supposed to be best looking).

and also the quality varies from brand to brand model to model. you could have 10 different brands and maybe only one that really pops.

I've run 1920 x 1200 and 1920 x 1080 and seen little difference if any. My current (just got for xmas) runs 1920 x 1080 which is recommended but it is also an HDTV 22"

it really looks worlds better then my old 28" that ran 1920 x 1200 native.

1920x1080 on a gtx 650 ti with a performance ENB and textures optimised at 1024k. I always aim for 30fps outdoor avg though in some odd spots (eg the first dragon guard tower) I get occasional  dips as low as 24, indoor avg is 45 or 50. My screen and card don't do a good job of non-native even in windowed mode, just not worth the compromise for 3 or 4fps gain.

1280x800. Tad lower, but by my standards the FPS rates were okay (22 outdoors/30-40 indoors) due to the PCI-E bottleneck caused by 1.1 -- the current board's a shit for HTPC uses only -- and so disallowing the HD7750 to reach its true potential, until I'll be jonesing a ASUS board that a pal would be giving once he asks me to swap the board for a new one to use his six-core Phenom.
