panthercom Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 No offense taken; text can't always convey the subtle nuances of expression. Referring to another's character as a 'monstrosity' IS likely to elicit a negative reaction, despite your best efforts at conveying humorous intent. I'm quite amazed at the texture myself; it's like a Michelangelo sculpture walking around in my game, only a lot cuter lol, wtf is that monstrosity Ever heard about constructive criticism? If you have any idea how to improve on what he did, do it and show us your work. If you have an idea, but don't know how to do it, say it politely. If all you can afford is being rude to a person who actually makes and shares something with others, shut your mouth and stop being a child. you know it was just a light-hearted, rhetorical poke, right? i wasn't actually criticizing it nor do i think it's poor quality, by any means. that's kinda why i left out a question mark and put a smiley, not meant to be taken serious! Thanks for the kind words; I expected some people would freak out over the sight of a kid who looks like she is actually capable of slaying a dragon I'm really impressed with how flexible Skykids is; the fact I could mod my character like that and actually be happy with the results speaks volumes for the thought the mod developers expended making Skykids. I am one happy dude lol, wtf is that monstrosity Ever heard about constructive criticism? If you have any idea how to improve on what he did, do it and show us your work. sdkjtwej Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Dreams do come true; this turned out far better than I could have hoped for: I present to you MuscleKids Tigersan's Diesel Battle Hardened Body for UNP. There are less extreme textures that might suit other's tastes also available; personally, this is exactly what I wanted... she finally looks like the fierce warrior girl that she is. Warning: muscles and a fair amount of skin, but no explicit content. OMG make me unsee it!
kyods Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Having a bit of an issue myself. Everything was fine for quite awhile. I've been wearing a set of Orc armor for awhile now. Finally got my smithing skill high enough to craft some Ebony mail and ran into a clipping problem. First pic shows front where clipping is rather light, but as you can see from the second picture, things in the back are very bad Any suggestions? I checked under 'showracemenu' and my weight is set all the way left, so don't think that's the issue. Is it just the hair? I never had an issue with the orc armor. Long hair will always clip through certain armours - usually these which have a tall gorget protecting the neck. That's why you won't find any long-haired meshes in vanilla Skyrim. There isn't much that can be done about it, regrettably. you know it was just a light-hearted, rhetorical poke, right? i wasn't actually criticizing it nor do i think it's poor quality, by any means. that's kinda why i left out a question mark and put a smiley, not meant to be taken serious! Nope, had no idea about that, and I'm afraid it wasn't immediately obvious - there's plenty of people leaving out punctuation (because it's useless) and being perfectly capable of calling you names, then slapping a smiley face on top of it. There are all kinds of people on the Internet, you know.
Tetch Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 So, I've been considering switching over from COTS, but I'm not quite sure yet. Here's my worries: 1. The Sky Kids faces that I've seen in the screenshots don't look as cute as the Rcots faces. Are they very different? Or are players just messing around with the settings in character creation? 2. The Sky Kids mod notes mention that only the girl npcs have been changed, but not the boys. Is that still the case? 3. How will Sky Kids work with interesting / inconsequential / populated skyrim mods? Any hostile kids, like in rcots?

There isn't much that can be done about it, regrettably. Ended up resolving the problem after a fashion by completing Boethiah's quest and picking up the Ebony Mail. Cool effect, and the hair doesn't clip. So, I've been considering switching over from COTS, but I'm not quite sure yet. Here's my worries: 1. The Sky Kids faces that I've seen in the screenshots don't look as cute as the Rcots faces. Are they very different? Or are players just messing around with the settings in character creation? 2. How will Sky Kids work with interesting / inconsequential / populated skyrim mods? Any hostile kids, like in rcots? 1. They are cute, but imo, cute in a different way. A bit more cartoony out of the box, but again only my opinion. However, with the cosmetics mod and Enhanced Character Edit installed, you can make quite an attractive toon. My Nord child Snow is in a screenshot up above on this page. I believe he's quite attractive. 2. Not sure what you mean by 'changed', as they are new models and meshes from what I understand. Changed from their initial creation perhaps, and that's why there's an 'older' alternate male body. Honestly not sure what the difference might be between the 'new' boy model and the older one, other than the potential for nudity, but I'm happy with what I have. 3. Sorry, can't answer about Interesting and Inconsequential, as I don't bother loading them because there's no corresponding patch as with Rcots. At this time there's no hostile kid mod for SK, but I believe I just heard one of the modders saying it was in the works.
JerWA Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 @Tetch, They don't look like anime characters if that's your hope. The player presets are still pretty rough though, so you're largely left to your own devices to make one as you see fit. As mentioned, with CharGen w/ECE compatibility (I wouldn't use ECE itself) you have quite a bit of flexibility. That aside, it is on the list of things-to-do to add a CoTS-like module that will look like them, be compatible with all of their armor, etc. All vanilla NPCs are converted to SK now, boys and girls alike (though I think you have to get the update out of the thread, it may not be in the main post yet). The boys are not as close to done as the girls are, which is why you see a lot of faces posted for them. No kids from other mods have been done yet. If you're the enterprising sort you could make some presets and submit them. Otherwise just request it, and it'll eventually happen. For kids that aren't done they will look just like vanilla and work normally. Since this mod is as careful as possible to not stomp through every other mods assets you can run other child replacers like Xvision or TK Children loaded before SK to replace other NPCs and SK will only overwrite the children we've replaced.

Poor little girl makes me want to strap her to a chair and force feed her chocolate until she doesnt look so starved. lol Seriously, though, The tex looks good. Way to go.
MidbossVyers Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 I actually noticed that when I tried to take screenshots, but if a female character equips the Ancient Nord Armor (I was actually using Ahzidal's armor, which is the same thing) and raises a staff in the right hand and spell in the left, her chest clips through the armor. Very minor problem as it obviously does not exist in first person view or from the back as most game play usually occurs.
Tetch Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 OK, thanks User13 and Jerwa for the answers. My main thing is getting rid of all vanilla children. I was just afraid that all the girls would be updated, and all the boys in the game would be vanilla. User13's kid is good looking enough, although I would change the hairstyle. Recently, Jusskyriman made some shirtless armor for the boys that was quite good. Is there anything like that for Skykids, or is there a way to add that mod to skykids?
JerWA Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 @Tetch, If it's custom and includes an ESP the armor swapper should pick it up. If it's overwrites it has to go in the armor folder setup for SK, which I believe the first post talks about how to do that. That said, it's quite possible the armor won't be fully compatible. Won't know until you try.
Rez Delnava Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 Notification says there was an update, but LL's file system doesn't show timestamps on the downloads page so I can't tell which one... Anything major, or was it just the child replacer getting updated to the version that was linked in the thread?
en_hawk Posted February 2, 2014 Author Posted February 2, 2014 Notification says there was an update, but LL's file system doesn't show timestamps on the downloads page so I can't tell which one... Anything major, or was it just the child replacer getting updated to the version that was linked in the thread? I just updated the child replacer to contain the beta version of the boys. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get around to updating the actual text in the thread to reference this, but I'll get it taken care of tomorrow.
Niobia Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 Where is the "SK Child Armor Swapper.esp" It doesn't seem to be in the download list
Niobia Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Please read the first post. I'm looking all over the first post, so your comment didn't really help. Whatever I'm supposed to be looking for must be well hidden. Thanks anyway.
JerWA Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Please read the first post. I'm looking all over the first post, so your comment didn't really help. Whatever I'm supposed to be looking for must be well hidden. Thanks anyway. From the first post, emphasis added. When you follow these steps the ESP will be generated. Skykids - Install: First and most importantly, these packages are not NMM compatible. Do not use NMM to install them. Install is fairly straight forward, just download both the base file([Core] Skykids Base.rar) and the armor pack([Core] Armorpack.rar) and install them to your skyrim data directory. Next you need to install the BOSS userlist entries for the plugins, if you don't know how to do this simply paste the above spoiler tagged section('BOSS Userlist entries:') into the file located at '<BOSS install location>\skyrim\userlist.txt'. If the file or directory doesn't exist, run BOSS at least once and it will generate it for you. Finally, make sure you have activated all of the plugins for the mod first, then navigate to 'Skyrim\Data\SkyProc Patchers\SKArmorPatcher\' run 'SKArmorPatcher.jar' and hit patch(do not close the program, it will close on its own when it is finished). Make sure the patch it generates, 'SK Child Armor Swapper.esp', is active in your load order and you should be good to go. Remember that you have to run this every time you add/remove/update an armor mod.
Niobia Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 I've read that over and over and the wording/comma usage makes it sound like I need the esp before running anything. When I run the jar I get an error saying "There was an exception thrown etc etc". I'll just read the first post over a 4th time to try and make sense of it.

You didn't think that, perhaps, it throwing an error would be pertinent information? It generates the patch esp, if its not working then you're obviously not going to have one... Post the actual error message.
Dalock Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Don't know if it's been pointed out or intended w/e, but the Child Replacer DB (which I am assuming is short for 'Dragonborn') has Hearthfire as a required master, even though there is a separate patch for it. Not a big issue but not all of us have both Hearthfire and DB.
Jase1983 Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Ive installed everything the way the installation process describes and managed to get the child vanilla overhaul to work but where are the other a.i child races in the game? or are the other child races only for making a character at the start of the game thanks

If you mean replacing the NPC children you need to download and enable that addon for SK. The base package only adds playable child races, doesn't replace any existing NPCs.

Here's a cleaned ESP: SK Vanilla Child Replacer DB.esp - Feb 3 2014 - 1kb - MEGA Edit: Thanks for reporting it Dalock. I've submitted it to en_hawk as well, so the next time an update goes official it will hopefully be included.

JerWA Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Been meaning to do this for a while. Here's some playing around with texblend to muscle up a kid. I think the leg effects are a bit too subtle and the ab effects too strong, so I may do another one here shortly where I apply the legs twice and dial the abs way back. I've blurred bits, but still pretty borderline if you were looking at this from work, so I've spoilered it. Bear in mind this is just me playing around, this is in no way related to anything official for SK. Just thought I'd make my own entry for our body building contest haha.
