2) In normal play (without resetting), your PC is teleported to the prison cell, but the guard that's supposed to force greet you is an Imperial guard and thus starts a fight with the vanilla Stormcloak guards (because Ulfric is the Jarl), and fails to let you out of the cell. I think I know what the problem is here. When you speak with the Jail, one of the dialogue lines detects which Jarl you are talking to and sets a variable. That variable is then used to determine which mod-added guard to enable (Imperial or Stormcloak) to force greet your PC in the prison. I put this check in the middle of the Jarl's dialogue in a way that might be skipped if you are skipping fast through the dialogue -- something that is more likely on subsequent playthroughs. If this dialogue is skipped, the mod will default to a Imperial guard, which is of course a problem if Ulfrich is Jarl. Bad design on my part, and I have already fixed it in my working copy. I've only recently begun to understand that scripts attached to dialogue can be skipped by skipping through dialogue fast.

 

EDIT: I meant to add that, while anything is possible, I don't think the Blood on the Ice quest could cause the wrong mod-added NPC guard to be enabled.

It's funny, I always thought Ulfric should be the default, it seems logical. Those lousy Imperials have no business being in Windhelm.

I just don’t fight for those who tried to execute me, how stupid would that be!

 

Well, I honestly don't know why about the "Blood on the Ice" quest. I usually don't do side quests or main quests in playthroughs that have a lot of NSFW story mods. I thought to see if it would make a difference if I told Elisif that I had already been to the embassy, but she didn’t really react, she muttered something about these parties being different and that’s all.

By the way, I noticed the BLZR_Winterhold quest in the list, but there are only 3 stages, apparently it was just left like that. 

 

I don't know what your plans are for this mod, but I suspect they're grandiose. I have an idea for a plot. I'd like there to be consequences for completely subjugating Balazar. Like, forcing the Dovahkiin to serve him forever, in Oblivion or even after death. Something extremely cruel. Either there would be such a choice, conditional freedom or eternal service.

Just a heads up, If your playing this on a Pack like Nefaram or anything that changes Windhelm extensively the 0.95 version of this mod is not compatible with anything that changes the city, i found this when i got to Windhelm and my city was all messed up on the arena side, had to perform some carefull changes to revert back to 0.94 (fortunally i had the old version installed but disabled) while keeping all the progress untill that point.

 

What was messed up?

The mod restores the arena, thats fine and it works (i actually played all of it before reverting back) but ANY other city mod that touches that side of the city will conflict hard with this because this restores and changes allot of geometry on the city , its not just another door.

 

i dont know what can be done here but for example the pack im using NEFARAM also restores the arena, exacly like the one in this mod, but on a bit diferent location on the city cell, the interior is the same i even had duplicated npc's there from both mods, could a patch perhaps make the mod use other arenas , atleast the one i have is exacly the same as this mod just diferent position, the specific mod i have that adds the arena is "Capital Windhelm Expansion"

 

That said....AMAZING mod, love every bit of it and really hope it keeps getting expanded, cheers !

edit: Found another problem, Talmor Headquarters in Solitude, this mod replaces de door, that breaks other mods using that location like your other mod Dibela Whore quest, the solution was botting up vanilla Skyrim coc to the location, find the original door code, booting modded Skyrym and replacing the Baltazar door with the vanilla one.

 

For future content, I really think replacing vanilla locations like this is a bad idea, just saying, its breaking allot of stuff on other mods.

For anyone else that has the Balazar's Revenge quest stall when you've killed all the followers of Vile, the quest ID is: ##1B6143 where ## are the mod index. You can either look up the mod index in your mod organizer, or you can search console for something you know is in the mod, like type "help Balazar" and you should find an ID for the Balazar NPC. Just take the first two digits/letters and that's the mod index.

 

In the console, you can type "sqt ##1B6143"  to get a list of the stages and you'll see a lot of 1's indicating completed goals, and then they'll be zeroes. I think the first non-zero was 140, so I typed:  setstage ##1B6143 140

 

This progressed the quest to the next stage. For the next part of the quest you need to talk to Balazar in the room with the giant statue and the grate.

Hello author, when I was completing the quest "Return the undead in the East Wing to their eternal sleep", the quest objective is locked onto a shroud. Is this a bug? Apart from picking it up, I can't trigger any other interaction.

Besides the issue addressed in your patch, would you otherwise recommend playing with both Balazar and JK (cities and villages overhauls) in the same load order?

Am choosing between JK + this mod now. If they both work well enough together with your patch then I'm a happy camper!

Yes, that works fine. I have played through Balazar twice with JK’s Skyrim. My patch addresses the only problem I ran into.

Thank you for taking the time to respond. Although I'm now rethinking JK just due to how demanding it is - so much clutter + FPS dips.

 

Might just go back to ETAC lol

The Riften questline in this was top tier and one of the best ways I have seen prostitution implemented.

 

A neat quest afterward would be that the potent skooma leaves you with narrative addiction that you need to get cured or otherwise whore yourself across skyrim hoping for another dose. Maybe via unlocking a new collar.

Hi. I'm suck in the Thalmor's Embassy, in the X-cross of Ondolemar.

He's still and does nothing and the quest doesn't advance. I've tried the setstage but he behaves as if isn't in the quest anymore.

The recycleactor is neither an option, he returns to Markarth.

Sounds like scene stuck. better load save before you use x-cross also DO NOT USE recycleactor command. At lest use disable/enable on NPC. And did you take with you High Elf girl? She was outside.

Hi Gristle. Are you still working on this mod? I am genuinely so in love with it and have developed a slight crush on my Balazar… I need more 😭 

 

otherwise- I am curious if there’s a way to change some of the animation options chosen for scenes with PC and Balazar (human)? I use SLATE but can’t figure out if I am adding the right tags to animations so they’ll be  included in SLAL during scenes. I have all of the Billy animations, but would like to add a few non DD options from Billy and other packs to the options during scenes. 
 

questline based scenes aren’t an issue, just the random scenes with him while he’s with PC going around.

At the moment, @Gristle is working on Animal Massacre Reborn, but I don’t know which mod he’ll choose after AMR public release.
