I just released new versions 0.12.0 (for CK3 1.9.x) and 0.9.4 (for CK3 1.8.2), as well as CSR EK2 0.8.4, see file. They contain major improvements to the ransom and free interactions, two new interactions (Liberate Slave and Offer Ransom for Slave), a lot of minor improvements and bugfixes, and the Russian localization from @Undertalk. Most of these changes are intended to enhance the "liberator" roleplay.

In this update, I also included some of the suggestions made by you in this forum or in private messages:

  • Added "The Slaver" and "Breaker of Chains" nicknames, suggested by @Rhaenuriel
  • Slightly increased slave court position salaries, suggested by @yoyoman69
  • Added an option to buy both slave in Buy Foreign Slaves event, asked for by @s_8
  • Added Offer Ransom for Slave interaction that was initially mentioned in a discussion with @Rhaenuriel

I also tried to rename Make Love to Demand Sex for slaves, as suggested by @CrizzlyBear122. Unfortunately, this turned out not to be possible. It seems customizable localizations cannot be used for interaction names and I didn't want to copy the Carnalitas interaction just to be able to rename it.

I don't get paid when I accept a ransom slave offer. No money and no favor. There are dozens of ransom offers incoming but almost nobody wants to spend money on the slave they want to have from me.

Thanks for the feedback! Is it only that money or favor are not being offered, or is it that they are being offered, but you don't get them afterwards? If it's only the first I think I know what could be wrong, I will fix it and release a patch.

As far as I can tell, only offers from AI to the player are affected. On the receiving side, the AI will never accept such offers, and on the sending side the AI knows this and never sends them. However, they can't evaluate what the player could do, so they send the most advantageous offer to them and there is currently no code to prevent that.

Hi any one know why my slavery tab is no longer showing? Its disappeared since I've updated mods

There is no "slavery tab" in this mod. You can see your slaves at the bottom of the Relationships tab (Carnalitas feature). You can also easily find them via the Character Finder (characters with Slave trait in your court). You can check what court positions are held by your slaves by checking the standard Court Positions interface.

The Slavery Expansion mod has a slavery tab, but this mod is not Slavery Expansion. It's a rather different mod, with a different set of features, aiming at a better balance, historical accuracy, and immersive gameplay. Please read the description and the README. I hope you like it.

They almost never offer anything. Maybe 1 in 10 actually gives you gold in return in the messsage. Even for enslaved relatives.

Ahh ok thank you, it must be an issues with the other mod, incidentally although it says I have the right number of relationship that includes slaves, it doesn't show me the salves in relationship.  I very much enjoy this mod thank you

I just released new versions 0.12.2 (for CK3 1.9.x) and 0.9.5 (for CK3 1.8.2), see file. The only change is a fix for the issue reported by @xyzxyz, the AI sending empty ransom offers to the player.

@xyzxyz I believe I fixed the issue since it was rather obvious what was missing, but offers from AI to the player are rather difficult to reproduce and test so I couldn't really test this fix very well. Please update and let me know if you still see the issue, or any related issues.

The number of offers is reduced by like 95% ^^ Suddenly I get messages where they want to ransom one of their slaves to me.

I got 1 ransom offer in 6 month. He offers 20 gold while just selling her would give me over 100 gold. Stingy vassals^^

This is expected after fixing the other issue. They would not send empty offers now and non-empty ones result in a negative "AI will do" most of the time (sine they don't like giving things). The demands for ransom for their slaves are also now more likely since they more often result in a positive "AI will do". The player also has in the new version the "special power" to be able to ransom not only their relatives, but also characters of their faith (so they could roleplay a "liberator"). The AI knows this and will occasionally try their luck.

All of this is how I wanted it to be, however I am not sure how disruptive all these offers could be if you and your vassals own a lot of slaves. Please let me know if you think I should try to reduce or disable such offers, much like they are currently disabled for the Buy and Sell interactions.

Well, yes, ransom costs for slaves deliberately follow the ransom cost for prisoners and are therefore disconnected from slave prices. They are usually lower but can also be higher sometimes, depends on the slave and the person paying the ransom.

I have a roman empire and over 400 slaves myself and it's not too annoying yet.

My concubine slave is my lover, once she get pregnant, she get fornicator trait and the child is a bastard.

Previously without this mod, the sex slave won't get fornicator trait if the owner is the father. Even after you reveal the father. Is this a bug?

Update, just tested. With this mod, I set my slaved wife as a slave concubine. It's overrule the relationship as a wife, and the children have 'child of concubine' trait, and not slaved.

As for my slaved concubine, I get adultery trait and she get the fornicator trait. The child still a slave.

If I play with S. E mod, without this trait. The children of slaved wife is still a slaved and same goes to the slaved concubine. As for the children of sex slaves. The identity of the father is not reveal but they won't get a bastard trait if they were fathered by the owner.

I'm not a big fan of the AI sending me ransom request, what could i change/remove to disable it ?

Currently this is not possible, just as it's not possible to do this with the vanilla Ransom interaction for prisoners. If you mean how you could do it by changing mod files, you could take a look how it's done for the Buy Slave and Sell Slave interactions (look for e.g. "# Prevent ai from spamming you with buy slave requests" in the code) and do it the same way for Offer Ransom and Demand Ransom interactions.

I am still unsure if I should simply disable it in the next version, or at least make sure it's disabled by default.

From the description, I got a bit confused when exactly does the problem occur. Similar questions have been asked in the past, when I looked into it, I couldn't find anything wrong either in Carnalitas code or in the CSR code, and so far it turned out to be a problem with some other mod.

As for SE and sex slaves, I don't play with SE and it's rather difficult for me to keep track of all possible combinations and what could go wrong.

Just with Carnalitas and CSR:

- A child of a (female) slave who is not a Slave Concubine should be born a slave, without a revealed father, and of the house and dynasty of the mother, if she has any. No fornicator and no bastard.

- A child of a (female) Slave Concubine should not be born a slave, with the owner as father, and of his house and dynasty. Again no fornicator and no bastard.

- Lover or not should not make any difference. However, if the real father is different from the owner and this gets revealed, fornicator and bastard are possible.

If you can reproduce different behavior just with the above 2 mods, without any other (and especially not SE), please let me know how exactly it happened. It would also help if you could post a save game, I promise to look into it.

Why doesn't it show anything when I make love?

I haven't touched Make Love in this mod. If it doesn't work as expected, it is probably caused by some of the other mods that you use.

I just released new versions 0.13.0 (for CK3 1.9.x) and 0.9.6 (for CK3 1.8.2), as well as CSR EK2 0.8.5, see file. In this version, I added slavery attitudes to enable new roleplaying options for the player and better simulate historical slavery outcomes, two new convenience interactions for ransoming slaves (Offer Ransom for Slaves and Demand Ransom for Slaves), as well as some minor improvements.

@thalse @xyzxyz I did not disable ransom requests from AI to the player, however the player no longer has the special power to ransom all characters of their own faith, unless he chooses the Liberator attitude. Therefore, unless you do play as a Liberator, such requests should be much less frequent. I may still disable such requests in the next version if I get more complaints about them.

Carnalitas problem. It lost almost everything since the DLC release.

Could you please provide some more information, what exactly are you trying to do and how does it "keep failing to install"?

Hi, sorry for late reply.

i tested using latest version of CSR,   so i manage to recreate following situation.

  • the wife is a slave, the child will be slaved
  • the wife is a slave, then appointed as clave concubine , she still a wife, and in the council as normal wife, the child will be free, unlike 1st child
  • the wife is demoted to concubine, the child will be free just like 2nd child.
  • the wife, now concubine, dismissed as concubine, but still appointed court position as slave concubine. the child will be a free, but a bastard. and the mother will get fornicator trait.

other than that. even without CSR, the sex slave which previously wont get fornicator trait if pregnant with the owner now will get fornicator trait. that mean it was due to changes in carnalitas.

so that mean, any player who prefer the wife remain as slave, can choose to appoint her as slaved concubine, the children will be free and wont get "former slave" trait (-1 diplomacy) , but the child will get child of concubine (-1 diplomacy). but to use be appointed as slaved concubine, the slave must be either a concubine, or a wife. the only way i can get the slave to that position is using prisoner marriage, then demote the wife using harem politic.
