  1. 1. I remember my frist death ...

    • I died in Helgen in the first tower before the jump
    • I died in Helgen before I could open the gate to the dungeon
    • I died in Helgen's dungeon or in the cave
    • I died somewhere else before I arrived in Riverwood
    • I died later (how did you manage to do that)
    • I don't remember anymore
  2. 2. I do remember my difficulty level

Do you remember your first death in Skyrim? I assume it was the vanilla MainQuest, but you may comment if not.

I go first: I felt brave and played on expert level. And I died in Helgen's first tower before the jump, while I was roasted by Alduin.

Will never forget that moment of death after 15 seconds of actually playing the game. :classic_laugh:

I too died in the tower, apprentice level, as I like to "wade in before taking the plunge" went running up the stairs next to the guard there, turned to look for anyone behind me when Alduin Broke the tower open and fried us like two oscar/myer weiners. Crispy crunchy dead!!   :P

"Well, this is going OK so far. Let's explore Whiterun a little and leave." -> *Goes to Secunda's Kiss and sees the giants* -> "Well, this shouldn't be too difficult, already bagged me one of those earlier." -> *Reaches escape velocity in short order*.

Yeah, that early giant you 'fight' REALLY skewed up my expectations.

Pretty certain I got out of Helgen alive, might have been more luck than judgement but I did leave the difficulty on Adept rather than put it up. Also potions and a healing spell help a lot.

I think I died on the way to BFB for the first time... Did anyone not go the BFB before visiting Whiterun?

Of course you do. 2h barbarian is Todds favourite class and the whole game was designed to be played that way. Including the College. And Thieves Guild. And Dark Brotherhood.

True. Especially with how useless magic, and absolutely broken sneak archery in vanilla is.

sneak archery

To be fair, that was first introduced in Oblivion. Contrary to Morrowind, where sneak skill was useless.

I'm pretty certain that my first death was to one of the draugrs in Bleak Falls Barrow while trying to recover the claw for Lucan.

Since then I have always taken pleasure in eradicating every single draugr in BFB every time I start a new play-through.

At Helgen never made the dungeon lol . I play legendary I always like a real difficult game even from day one. I died a lot in the beginning as I have never played an Elderscroll game so there was a real learning curve.

I was doing a test playthrough recently and decided to just run with a 2H meathead just to see how it plays, and holy moly is it ever awkward and slow. What gets me most is how incredibly bad the stamina drain is if you start with a 2H melee playstyle. I don't expect to some kind of unstoppable juggernaut as a level 5 idiot, but being able to take more than one swing without pausing in between for like five minutes catch my breath like an asthmatic octogenarian would go a long way towards making an already clunky and painfully slow combat style (don't miss!) feel less intolerable.

That's why skooma exists.

I killed a chicken in Riverwood. Murdering a person in broad daylight in Whiterun is a 1000 gold fine. Murdering a chicken in Riverwood is the death penalty.
