When people are being delusional, no amount of warning will change their behavior, because they're unable to think rationally. "It's my choice, I see value in it". Well, Brexit was also a choice for millions of people and they all saw value in it and look how that turned out. I'm not from the UK, I've never even been there, but I remember trying to explain people that it's going to end up badly for them and will harm their country. and they kept calling me a scaremonger, similar to being called a hater for criticizing a game or the way it's marketed.

Very true. And it really pisses me off that this is how the corrupted games industry decided to fight the 'Pre-order battle'. We kept preaching 'Don't pre-order games', and the sheeple kept doing it. We kept showing how badly it ends up for them, and then there was Cyberpunk 2077, Fallout 76, Redfall, Anthem, Gollum, Forspoken, and many many more.

 

But now, they are doing something truly evil, and punishing those who don't pre-order, and at a higher price no less, with a delayed release... This shit is just starting to make me sick. 'Vote with your Wallet' has become nothing more than a joke, because those of us who actually care about preserving the integrity of the hobby, are outnumbered by those that are nothing more than braindead tools... Completely agree with you on the ridiculous pricing. Imagine this, I had to buy Skyrim twice, the same fucking game, because I didn't want to pay outrageous prices for the DLCs individually. After I bought the base game back in June 2012, I decided to wait for some sort of a "GoTY edition" with full set of DLCs, and I bought Skyrim LE again on a sale. It was really stupid of me, I could've just waited for the LE, it'd be the most rational choice. And it wasn't even the only game I had stupidly bought more than once because of DLCs, Dragon Age Origins was another one. Well, it's at least a way to learn the importance of patience.

All true, but unfortunately there's really nothing we can do about any of it, other than accepting the stupidity and the delusional minds of human kind. They display the same exact behavior on subjects that threaten their very lives, such as the climate crisis. Well, it'll all be over soon.

I saw some gameplay on a live stream and it's just meh. Combat reminds me of some generic "early access" space shooter from Steam. The robot companion was shooting at something and the laser sound glitched, it was constantly looping until the guy went outside. Exact same bug that sometimes happens in modded Fallout 4. It's not pure garbage or broken, it's forgettable, mediocre and dull just like vanilla Skyrim and Fallout 4. Bethesda is not getting a single penny from me. Paaaathetic.

Well - the "promotional video" of one of our German game magazines sounded quite different ... but their effort to sell us "stinking fish" here was clearly recognisable to me.

For me the most important thing:

1) You will be able to control the landing and the take-off - these are all sequences.

2) Landing place is NOT freely selectable

3) You can't fly back and forth between the planets of a system ... but you only jump by sequence ... but for this you don't need an FTL drive

4) the shipbuilding system reminds me of "Kerbal-Space" - only the latter at least had a real flight system ... ergo, the centre of gravity of your construction was an important element in the building process.

The personal "climax" -> the Force will be with you young "Padawan" ... OMG - they're doing Star Wars aka Jedi Knight

I haven't bought any of the gaming magazines in a while but I'm 99% sure that it would be the same here. 10/10 or to be more believable 9.1/10. I simply wait for someone to play it on YouTube (like a let's play/longplay type of video) and pay attention to people who criticize the game. Random people on the internet are often better reviewers than people who get paid for reviewing games.

The guy docks into a ship and captures it, he leaves his robot in his original ship, lands on a planet with the new ship, his original ship flies away on its own and his robot magically teleports to him. WTF? LOL The two pirates just wait in the cockpit of their ship while they're being docked despite the running alarm, they are unable to lock the docking door/hatch, whatever it is, they don't even lock the cockpit door, and their verbal response on being shot "Felt that one!", "Blood everywhere!", "Better them than me!". LOL That's more than enough Starfield for today.

"and look how that turned out" Life went on, as it always does. The biggest impact is the never ending whinging from the anti-brexiters, because they simply can't cope with differing opinions and they still moan and whinge endlessly. Never actually doing anything useful, just endless moaning and "I told you so" over the most trivial things. Everyone else has just moved on. Because you know, war in Ukraine, global warming, more important things that need dealing with.

Reviews seem to grade Startfield a 7 compare to Skyrim's 9 and FO4's 8. Bethesda's already weak writing got worse and its strength of open world travel weaken by space tavel's loading screens galore.

The game is above all -> NOT a space game - because it has no travelling through space ... you jump from Nav-Point to Nav-Point by pressing a key.

Launch - Land - Dock ... everything is just an intermediate sequence

Space battles? What? ... Eye pain ... I've been playing since Elite on the "breadbox" aka C64 - already played WingCommander 1 ... I don't realise I'm looking at a game from 2023!!!

Basically it is a game for -> DRECK-WÜHLER ... that's what the "Belters" call the planet-bound ... and that's exactly what it is - a planet-ground game.

The "space" is only for travelling from one ground area to another - no matter if the area is on the same planet or on another ... is similar to the various provinces in TES

other planets would perhaps also be called other gravity - i.e. the "rocket backpack" has a different range or carrying capacity, etc. etc.

"Pustekuchen" - all the same 1g-sauce

but seriously ... that's exactly what I expected - a bit of dazzle like the details in the interior of the ship or the cities ... why is it that the one city shown reminds me of D.C. from Fallout 4 - what a surprise!
