Hi JB

 

I promised when I finished CS to give you some feedback on NR again.

 

So it all runs pretty well, but I am having some new and some old issues.  To start as beofre I still get the Hubologists quest link but now I also get talk to Sierra Petrovita which I didn't before.

 

Also Maxson is back over the fountain, see pictures, plus I am getting some floating items.  On the Lucy in the Sky with diamonds quest when the OB is showing off his car the animation is off, he is missing his target but quite a bit.

 

Finally currently doing the mule stage, failed and when I visit Nisha to tell her, she tells me there is a corrective and the screen fades out and the game crashes.  Nothing really bad, except the crash and you can continue with him being up in the air, but I noticed the vertibird is still circling whereas it was always on the ground before.

 

NR is at the bottom of my load order as before and I do not have anything that changes NW, although the Forest does add some trees.  Got to say NW really looks amazing now.  Hope that helps and I will let you know anything else I find.

Think the Nisha issue is the same thing that affected a few of us before. It is something to do with being put on the cross to get whipped. I only experienced it at the end. You are send to the cross it fade to black and then nothing. In your case it CTDs in my case it just freezes up so there is no buffout log to look at. Can you maby post a crash log for the whole Nisha thing so JB can have a look.

Quests Help please:

 

 


I am a long way into the quests but have come to a problem. I can’t start the Special Girls quest with Gage he keeps saying “Looks like you still have a lot of things to do, pumpkin. Why don’t you finish your chores and them get back to me” and a popup says You must have paid your respects to the Overboss at least once before doing the quest with Gage.

I Have done the VIP Party with the Over Boss four times each one and All. Done 2 of Nisha’s quests, Safari Park etc
 

 

 

What am I doing wrong?

Ok regardless of how many VIP parties you have done. Do this wait 24hours just to clear things. What needs to happen is you need to go apologize to the overboss and you can only do that after at least doing one nisha run. Then you can go back to Gage. I think what you do is you go to music and ask to see the overboss. Don't go straight to the overboss and talk to him.

Well that was fun.  I played through what you have finished and it was fun.  It played ok, but there were a few scenes I had to use the console to proceed.   The last scene golden girls I don't think the player is close enough to Corsican, but it could be something else. 

The main troubles I had were with dialogue being stuck or at least I wasn't able to select the dialogue or enable any of it, mostly, saving and reloading would get the dialogue moving.   I don't know if that is just a trigger box size thing or if it's that the character you are talking too is just a little too far away.  I know with one scene, I managed to use a piece of furniture that got me closer to the target and the scene was able to then proceed.

 

A few critical spots where nothing worked: 

1) The fight with Poodle,  for some reason the quest stage advances to where dialogue choices come up, but it is prior to the stage that allows you to talk to him.  If i manually advanced the stage a few numbers it worked just fine, so for some reason, the quest stages didn't advance quite enough. 

 

2) The Golden Girls dialogue comes up and gets stuck.  Same deal I don't think it is kicking it to the proper stage, I did finally get it to work somewhat by reloading a playing with setstages, but the layout of that quest in Xedit is kinda confusing as it looks like many of the needed stages actually are listen in Xedit before the stage that should enable them. 

 

3) The third main problem was in the battle with doberman that includes Music.  Again, I got dialogue choices I couldn't access at all and I don't know when that sequence was supposed to start, but it started just prior to getting on the vertibird for the final leg to Far Harbor.  Judging by the setstages though, it should have happened far sooner.  (I believe I didn't listen to the long version story of Musics mother, if that has anything to do with it.)  (Again, Xedit makes it look like that scene should have happened well before it did.)

 

One other problem spot was going to the Galactic zone.  I encountered some non critical parts of the park that were not rendering properly.  (below the vault tech exhibit)  (All DLC vanilla and uncleaned)  (Nuka Ride v 6.3.5 also uncleaned)

 

the Galactic ride was a hoot and totally unexpected and worked like a charm.  I did it twice so I could get the Nuka Suit.

 

So in recap.  Dialogue not engaging was the biggest problem.  You've done an amazing amount of work and it shows.  I hope you intend to continue as i get the feeling the mod is far from finished.

As per Kalimaki above, I had the same trouble with Mason being over the fountain, I was able to tcl to him and talk, which i believe moved him back where he was supposed to be.

I put this mod a few years ago and it was voiced.
I remember that with the receipt of voice acting there was some kind of probl;em. I don't remember which one.
Tell me, how to make them talk.
There seems to be some kind of synthetic voice acting from Axary / But I don't remember the details and I can't find it on loverslab

I realize you aren't done with the mod, and there is probably a lot of other quest type work yet to be done, but I thought I would write down my own personal thoughts and suggestions.   I'm sure some of it will duplicate things you already plan, but I thought I would put them down regardless. 

 

1- more repeatable overboss tasks.  Perhaps on some kind of radiant system.  With or without the dog, from simple fetch quests to as complicated as you want to make them.  It can lead into #2

 

2 - more radiant risks to the player from any of the 3 Nuka World raider factions.  disaffected members who take out their beef on the player.  Could include wiping, rape, humiliation, or other assorted things.  Nuka World is a dangerous place full of unsavoury and dangerous raiders.  The Overboss may need to over look these things to keep the gangs together.  Besides he can't babysit his slut all the time and he pretends not to care.

 

3 - more Radiant quests for the 3 gang bosses.  Possible tie-ins to #2 and #4

 

4 - more senario's outside of Nuka World where the player can get in trouble on their own, possibly tied to a fetch quest  from #3 with a respawnable kill-able NPC guard, for people using violate or other mods.  Another respawnable guard can then collect them once they escape/get to the destination.  Having a vulnerable player suddenly exposed to the dangers of the commonwealth and on her own without protection for a while, certainly would give that character some real appreciation for the Overboss and possibly lead to other punishments/rewards by him.

 

5 - Different types of tattoo packs for different players.  I played with the Previous Girl installed, which already used different tattoos,   Simply my opinion, but I would like the tattoos to be permanent and in addition too.  The player gets a tattoo as punishment that is there to remind her not to disobey and it really loses it's effect when it can be just taken away.  Different playstyles = different tattoos.  perhaps this could be achieved by additional downloads for different packs, but with the same name across all tattoo packs so it isn't extra scripting work  Many of the packs would remain the same with only a few of them, ie Gages tattoo pack - the overlord pack getting updated with the new tattoos.  Looks menu is terrible for adding tattoos.  I really miss Slavetats from skyrim.  If it's set up so other people can then make tattoo packs more easily.

 

6 - a different more immersive way to get to Nuka World initially.  Kidnapped by raiders who are killed my Mason's pack and So the player gets introduced to Mason and the whole porn scenario in a much more immersive fashion then following a couple of robots.  Also gives the PC reason to know how dangerous the new world is to a vulnerable woman alone.

 

thanks for a great mod so far.  Unfinished as it is, it is still a huge and impressive undertaking.

While I also agree that looking through a potential 400+ pages of posts that may or may not have the same crash and fix for the reported problem can be very daunting, let me be the "other that Guy". I have already made a post with some small and what I would consider as "Basic" (for Lovers Lab standards) tips to help someone work out the problem on their end first.

To say again please try to provide as much information as possible when making a report as that will help save time and narrow down the potential cause of the bug/crash.

 

(I do also completely understand that everyone's knowledge and skill will be different, so please don't take this as me looking down on anyone. For me personally it took a couple of years of lurking forums and threads before I started posting. It also took years of slowly learning how to use required tools to get a stable modlist running for both Skyrim and Fallout, my first attempts were a horrible broken mess and I am amazed at how long they ran before breaking completely.)

 

One of the biggest suggestions/tip I can give is to learn how to use the search function (default shortcut keys are CTR+f). Using keywords that may be related to the problem makes it easy to skim through dozens of pages in just a minute, try using different words if the search is not showing anything relevant.

Next please try to post a proper Buffout crash log from the most recent time it happened, this log should help point at relevant/potential causes, it doesn't matter if you have no clue on what it is reporting there may be a chance some else can read it and help.

Try not to use vague/unclear words or meanings. I am going to use Killerofgods post as an example (This is not meant to be targeted at them, its just a case of being the latest and easiest example.)

While this is somewhat fine as it lists a location and a potential quest, there is still a lot of potential causes for the crash.

This is vague/unclear, as an "active effect" can be from any mod or the base game and not just from Nuka Ride, more information is needed is this regard.

 

Now what I believe is happening is when the character either walks near the area or is teleported due to the quest, a cell is being loaded which contains the "active effect" and causes the crash, this is why they can play normally until they get close to the affected area.

 

At this point more information is needed otherwise the mod author could be spending ages looking for a bug which is not being caused by their mod.

I don't know the details, but it was removed voluntarily because of potential new laws on voiced AI content using Existing voices from actors.  You can search the comments for more info.

The voice files were removed because of some negative reaction by the voice actors.   @Axary mentioned this a few pages back.   This is a larger issue as many actors are not happy with their voices being used to train AI and the actors lawyers are not happy about not getting paid.   As I have mentioned before,  The first rule before death and taxes is The Lawyer gets paid.     Anyway, as the court cases have started, don't expect this issue to resolve itself any time soon.  In the meantime, someone will need to voice all of Nora's lines and give permission to use Voice synths to make her say other things.

@Kalamaki22  Thanks again! But I thought Maxson's bug was fixed. No one had mentioned it in a while. ?

 

I have put a marker on top of the water fountain so that the Vertibird fly around it. No more no less. But for some reason Maxson sits right there.I think removing that marker would fix the problem... but we would be left with no flying vertibird.

 

If you have CTD again send me your buffout log. There is something messing around every time the character goes to a Torture Devices cross. I think is a sum of several factors, not a single culprit.

Thanks! ?The dialogue thing is frustrating. Surely there is a mod out there making my life miserable because it's a relatively common bug. I don't have those bugs, just like Maxson's bug it has been impossible for me to replicate.

 

It reminds me a bit of the bugs in "Thief," from Skryim, whose dialogues were cut off and prevented the mod from progressing. They all originated from two mods: "NPC IA Overhaul" and "Better Movement". I swear since then I see with great suspicion any mod that is an "improvement" of the base game.

 

The thing with the floating stuffs in Nuka Town is a bit "I forgot about that because it's too small to see it in the Creation Kit".Transforming Nuka Town is an activity that I find relaxing. Like when you get tired of writing a story and you want to unwind. But I'm not a level designer or anything like that so you're going to get tired of finding imperfections.

 

I'm not a scripter, I've never programmed anything in my life, I'm not a level designer and I don't know gaming balancing either. I only know that I like to tell a story. So if there's a repeatable quest that adds to the story, I'll think about it. I've been asked to do minigames too but if I start doing something like that I'll just have this constant feeling like I'm wasting my time when I just want to tell a story.

In the latest version all pole dance animations are out of order, but when I switch the old version everything works fine, how do I deal with this problem

I'll take a closer look at my modlist.  I didn't actually do a very good job of Conflict Resolution.  I was pretty sloppy since This is one of the only times I've run a AAF modlist.  AAF isn't a very forgiving system, or perhaps it's FO4.  Sexlab in skyrim seems far more user friendly.  So long as you don't pile on too many heavy script using LL mods, sexlab seems pretty forgiving.  I havent had that experience with FO4 which is too bad, because FO4 is a far better playground for those mods, at least in my mind.

Thanks to Saya Scarlett and her TFM, it is certainly doable if your willing to read,  All to many people don't.  I've played with the CK a little bit and it really is intimidating.  I learned Xedit instead and it really is an easier tool to use to clean up floating objects or swap things out.  Or make patches.

 

Hey I enjoyed the story and I hope you plan on continuing it.  You are certainly ambitious.  It's a big story you've got going.  I'm pretty good with Xedit so I may send you an esp from time to time with some deletion edits for floating objects.   I will also refine this modlist and reposition the esp and see if that makes a difference.  esps don't always like just any old position.  Right now Nukaride is basically at the bottom of my load order, but I think I'll let Loot sort it and go from there.  It may make a difference in how the dialogue prompts activate..

 

You've done an amazing job so far, i was really enjoying the story and the setting.   It's my first time playing Nuka Ride and I played it as a vulnerable Nora  who was totally out of her depth and looking for a strong Male to protect her.  She didn't ever carry a gun and only the bat she is given by the story, because she was so far out of her depth and relied on the people around her for protection.  It was an interesting playthrough for sure, and contrary to what I initially thought, it was totally doable.   And that is quite an achievement on your part. 

Your level design worked just fine from what I could see.  I'm sure it won't work for everybody, but nothing ever does.  As far as game balance goes, that too seemed just fine.  Now I wasn't out killing raiders or supermutants, but it wasn't really in the storyline either, but what you've done to date works well as far as game balance goes.  There are plenty of mods to change the game balance for those who want them.  I suggested repeatable quests because I kept getting the same quest to walk the dog and get the overboss' supper and because I also thought they would dovetail into your story nicely and make it more replayable... and some of those suggestions tickle my fancy.  If I want them that bad I can pick up the CK and learn like you had too. 

 

If I learn anything with my fiddling, I'll let you know.

171 is the current AAF version as of a few hours ago. Documentation telling you to install an earlier version is simply a few hours out of date now. ?

I think you may be confused. Where did you read that was a problem with AAF 171?

Got a kind  of glitch with the Synth Clone questline (forget the name). The scientist who had the key to the cuffs got turned to dust when he was shot with  a laser weapon, and was unable to get the key off the ash pile.

I have the same problem with the pole dance with AAF Version 171 and went back to AAF Version 167 and it worked.

It's not a glitch...the key is not on either of them. If I'm remembering right it's in the adjacent room on top of a table? Anyway, it's in one of the rooms, just look around. You won't be able to pick up most stuff but there's an exception for the key.

Oh my dude... that's a can of worms you don't want to open, at least not until the dust settles on the topic, and it's all because of real life voice actors being pissed off that modders are generating their voices with AI tools to say some fucked up shit... (IMO)

Cool... so... ignore them... tackle only the big bugs no one else can, that's it... we can pickup that ball and save you some time and effort, i mean, let us play the game and to give something in return! but don't have to make fun of people
