BOS_111 Posted April 19, 2023 Posted April 19, 2023 I just uploaded my first fusion girl conversion to Nexus: GITS Motoko Outfit (from GITS SAC 2045) A question for people who upload fusion girl conversions, how much time do you spend getting rid of the more subtle mesh clipping before publishing? Obviously you wouldn't publish something with glaring and obvious clipping on the mesh that's immediately noticeable in outfit studio, but then there's the more subtle clipping that only shows up in-game while doing specific animations like crouch-walking or running. I spent several painstaking hours going in-game, doing various poses and stress testing on the mesh to eliminate whatever subtle clipping I could find that didn't show up in outfit studio. Is this typically expected or do you often just let the player iron out the more subtle clipping themselves? Is there a more convenient way of finding clipping other than just stretching the mesh in outfit studio by increasing the sliders and then using the pencil edit option to iron out the clipping? Is there any way to pose the renders in outfit studio?

That's already way more effort than I put into the updated FG+HHS conversion for Devious Devices. 7 minutes ago, BOS_111 said: Is there a more convenient way of finding clipping other than just stretching the mesh in outfit studio by increasing the sliders and then using the pencil edit option to iron out the clipping? Keeping it real, I do what I can and let it be. there's gonna be inevitable clipping you can't control by way of people using presets far outside the testing range or using extreme poses or animations. Secondly, if the outfit is NOT modular you should be culling away any part of the body covered by the clothing but even then that's not 100% problem proof. With modular clothing situations, the clipping situation is just an inevitability as you're layering clothing on top of each other and you aren't culling away parts that need to be culled away for it to work. It's part of why I think that system is mid and don't use it myself. 1

Oh, wow, thanks for advice! I did not think that I was able to just whittle away at the fusion girl body to reduce clipping. Can I basically just whittle away at the fusion girl body until it looks like a thin, shriveled raisin without causing glitches or anything (assuming the outfit is mostly clothed and non-modular)? BTW, on an unrelated matter, is it particularly important which template I choose between "Fusion Girl Clothes" or "Fusion Girl Nude" under the "Load Reference" tab? I chose "Fusion Girl Nude" as the template for my conversion since I didn't think it was super important, but it's been bugging me if I should've gone with "Fusion Girl Clothes" or if there's even any important distinction between the two?

The typical approach is to create hidden "zap sliders" which remove parts of the included body mesh that should be hidden by the clothing, so that it won't clip through the clothing mesh. 1 hour ago, BOS_111 said: BTW, on an unrelated matter, is it particularly important which template I choose between "Fusion Girl Clothes" or "Fusion Girl Nude" under the "Load Reference" tab? For conforming as a reference, you probably want the clothed reference (or perhaps uniboob) since it won't result in accidentally copying weights for genitals into the crotch or creating unrealistic nipple peaks in the chest area. For including a body mesh in the final project, if the nipples and crotch are concealed then the clothed reference body should still be fine but if you're going to add body zaps in those areas it really doesn't matter either way. If the crotch or nipples will be exposed by the outfit, then you want the nude body mesh saved in the project so that the body shows appropriate detail in game. 1

How do I go about creating hidden zap sliders? Also, is it safe to make excessive use of the 'decrease mesh' tool on the fusion girl body? Edited April 19, 2023 by BOS_111

Nude has the Vagina Sliders & Weights for it and the anus. Clothed flattens out the Nips, and removes the genital weights/sliders and makes them as unobtrusive for clothing fit needs. While you can get away with using the former, you risk copying unnecessary slider data and weight data into clothing that doesn't really need it. there's very very limited times you will want to use Nude ( things that would need genital weighting and slider compatibility) and it's recommended for most clothing you use the Clothes Reference. 10 hours ago, BOS_111 said: Oh, wow, thanks for advice! When I say Cull, I mean using Zap sliders or Deleting vertices off the Fusion Girl Body base. You can also cut what you need out in Blender and go from there, but that's a lot more involved and take a bit of time. I only do it for things that are impossible to prevent clipping . In this Example, The thighs are a very tiny strip, with the rest of the leg mesh deleted out. I specifically deleted and remodelled the torso as well to fit underneath the top. But I make my clothes, so This is a process I know how to do. This is what the Body mesh wound up looking like without the clothing mesh. Zap Sliders are more forgiving as you can undo and redo them if you make a mistake or need to cull more/less of the body for the outfit. I don't recommend deflating and leaving the body under at all if you don't need it for processing sake. FG is low poly enough that people won't suffer, BUT it's just not practical to do and really time consuming to do as well. Edited April 19, 2023 by TheBottomhoodofSteel 1
MattTheRagdoll Posted April 22, 2023 Posted April 22, 2023 Hey all, just recently moved over to Fusion Girl (and back to Fallout 4) after a long stint modding Skyrim. I'm currently converting a bunch of outfits from CBBE and was wondering how do we deal with high heels in outfits? The reference body will obviously not conform to heel shape. Anyone point me in the right direction please?

Anyone point me in the right direction please? I don't know what the "right" way is necessarily, just what I've done. Usually I'll adjust the heels slider on the included reference mesh to match the shape of the outfit's shoes as much as possible, save that as the new shape, then go back and add body zaps for any protruding bits of feet/toes the slider didn't solve (for example, ballet heels just aren't going to match the foot shape without some serious deforming). 2

deathmorph Posted April 26, 2023 Posted April 26, 2023 Is there already a transformation for Classy Chassis Outfits - Heather Casdin Replacer v. 2.0?

Yes, the version 2 outfit is slightly different from V1, especially with the addition of the zap sliders (which, really, can be added by anyone for their own use) The update is basically just making the outfits (pre and post Kellogg) skimpier than they originally were. As far as switching outfits goes, Heather has always done that. 1

So for me, the clothes just show up with a default shape in game. Does anybody else have this problem? Heather Casdin Companion V2.0 Fusion Girl Patch Of course, I'm only using the files within the Tools folder, I've set her up to use Cridowskin

Heather and her clothes (when built in BS) show up in game with the FG preset that I created. You are building Heather's clothes and body in Bodyslide, yes? 1
