Thanks for the patch! You're the best! ;)

As much as I'd like to help speeding up the process of integrating the beauty traits I won't be at home for the rest of the week as I will start a business trip today. Don't rush it. Your mod is great even in this early stage. I'll follow this closely. If you keep at it, this will become legendary. Have you thought of putting this mod on Steam? I believe many players would appreciate it.

Thanks again! I don't know where you're from but you should maybe get some sleep before tackling the beauty traits... ;)

Thanks :D

I sadly cannot put it on Steam (or the Paradox forums either), for.... ahem.... legal reasons.

On the bright side, if news of this mod spread, it might bring more people to LoversLab, which would mean that I will have done the site a service.

I'm from Hungary by the way, meaning that it's just 1 o'clock in the afternoon right now. I'm officially working at home office right now, and while I may let myself get away with watching Youtube videos and editing mod stuff, opening up the game to get to the portrait editor is somewhat over the line. So yeah, I'll get to it at 5 o'clock :P

Hi, nice Mod. I like the Idea.

But while it makes the People between regions look different, inside the regions they look very samey.

I just clicked through Arabia and Africa. They do not look anywhere alike between those two regions but inside Arabia or inside Africa they all look too same-ish.

Maybe make the Phenotype less prevalent?

But I would have certainly never seen these faces in base game.

Keep it up. I would love to see how this mod will look in the future

Not sure why it can't be uploaded to the workshop, it doesn't have any NSFW content. It's great and I'm looking forward to more diverse phenotypes.

Uhm, there are other legal reasons why I can't upload the mod to Steam Workshop. Hint: I can't upload any mods to Steam Workshop, no matter the content. It's against the forum's rules to discuss that sort of topic, but I'm sure it's pretty obvious what I'm implying here. The best policy is to stop asking question questions about that.

But thank you. I am working on the beautiful versions right now.

Thanks :D Yes, currently, I have assigned a bit few phenotypes to the various ethnic groups, and may have made the "margins of error" not wide enough.

Some ideas for the future development of the mod:

1.Ears and noses grow in humans all their lives. Make them increase slightly as the stages of aging. Starting from an adult onwards. From a small increase in old age, to large (rarely), to avoid unnecessary caricature.

2.Adding other phenotypes to the main one. For example, you play as a Greek ruler. And translate Scandinavian counties into your culture. But this is only culture, people themselves remain Scandinavians. In terms of%, random characters from Greek culture are sometimes Scandinavian. For example, 100 counties are Greek, of which 10 were previously Scandinavian, 10% of randomly generated characters are Scandinavians in appearance, but with Greek clothes. You will need a counter of converted provinces.

  1. I'm not sure if it's possible to implement ^^
  2. Sadly, not possible to implement. The game ties ethnicities to cultures. There are three potential solutions to that problem.
    1. Add a tiny chance for Greek characters to be generated with Nordic phenotype, which isn't necessarily unrealistic.(if you look at the map, you can see that it's scattered and is present in small numbers almost everywhere in Europe, albeit it's a minority everywhere outside of Germanic-culture territories).
    2. Add more melting pot cultures. For example, my Far Eastern Cultures mod adds Anatolian Turkish and Azerbaijani, which are basically Oghuz Turkish with Greek and Persian phenotypes respectively, to represent the Turkic conquerors assimilating the natives linguistically and culturally, while in turn getting assimilated by the conquered biologically.
    3. A combination of the above two.
  3. Yep, I am already working with the golden ratio in mind ;) Albeit sadly, I can't project it into the computer screen.

You can implement anything, but you need the help of a good programmer. I, unfortunately, do not know how :(

The beauty update is online! Fresh out of the bakery.

Of course, there is still much work to be done - many ethnicities only have a few phenotypes assigned, causing the samey looks in some regions. That, and some phenotypes need further refining. And because I have another mod that adds Japanese and Korean cultures, I will implement more East Asian phenotypes in the future.

Great! I'll check it out tomorrow. It's too late now... Thanks for your efforts!

Is the mod savegame compatible?

Absolutely not. It edits ethnicities, which only exist to control how characters are randomly generated.

Once a character was already generated, this mod will not effect that character.

@Leaf the Elf

This mod made a lot of the characters look like dwarfs (big head small body). was it intended?

I rather body shape stay vanilla and the mod only touch the face, is there a quick fix to the file to do that?

1. Some phenotypes are supposed to be short, so it was intended. However, the exaggerated dwarf-like shortness wasn't intended. I will fix it for the next update.

2. Yes - remove the height gene from all ethnicities. However, in real-life, some phenotypes - like Alpine - are known for being short, while others - like Nordid - are known for being tall.

yea i get how certain races are short. trust me i'm an asian living in europe xD. scandenavian and their norse genes grrrrrrrrr.

yea i think you will need to tweak the overall head size so it doesnt look like the characters are suffering from dwarfism but rather simply small stature.

I'll try to tweak it to see if it makes it any better. Will update it ASAP.

I'm not sure about head size proportion but many characters are noticeably taller now, for example the Holy Roman Emperor in 1066 and the Duke of Portucale both have their crowns cut off.

When choosing the rules of the game, it would be good to make the choice to influence - on growth. So does the facial fenotipe features and the influence of beauty trait.

Afaik, you can't change the head size proportion in the game.

Anyway, a new version just got released, making phenotypes far more varied in most regions.

I'm not exactly sure if that's possible ^^

Sadly, I am working on this project alone. If I was joined by other modders, maybe it would be possible.

I haven't looked into this too in depth, but I also think it's not possible, sadly.

So I tried this mod today. And had to turn it off unfortunately. I could see a lot more variety in faces and it was good, but some were too cartoonish for my taste and there is some serious height problem all over the place. Imho even considering that some people are taller then others due to genes in game it translated into some being giants, they are taller then someone with the giant trait from the default game. And the crown being cut off means that the person is so tall that half of the head is just not visible in portrait. That is too tall for modern times, considering that at that time the average height was even shorter it is just an overkill. I was looking to play with this mod but imho something must have gone wrong.
