darkestblack77 Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 Another great Star Trek: TNG quote. One that sadly, hits far too close to home. "I think, when one has been angry for a very long time, one gets used to it. And it becomes comfortable like... like old leather. And finally... it becomes so familiar that one can't remember feeling any other way." - Jean-Luc Picard I like it. I think tha can apply to a lot of emotions, not just anger. Its saturday and I dont' have to work. Sun is out, and I don't have much to do. Its going to be a good day.
Nonsense667 Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 Apparently France Banned child pageants. Fuck yeah. http://www.reddit.com/r/reactiongifs/comments/1mn1j7/me_and_a_friends_reaction_when_we_read_that/ For those who don't understand: the motto of France is "Liberté, égalité, fraternité" (liberty, equality, fraternity). This isn't about liberty, it's about equality. This law was passed as part of a package on gender equality, which among other things includes equal opportunities for boys and girls in education as well as incentives for fathers to take advantage of France's maternity/paternity leaves. There is no blanket ban on pageants, the ban is on girls-only pageants that judge participants on physical beauty, the rationale being that such pageants condition girls from a young age to tie their self-worth to their attractiveness. Child pageants now require governmental authorization and breaking this law can cost the pageant organizer up to 30k € and 2 years in jail. France is pretty cool.
Brigade Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 I've just realized today that I'm going to die alone, but also realized that I don't really care. It's amazing, the kinds of realizations you can have when your thirty year old arab friend lectures you for an hour about how you have to change your entire appearance in order for people to take you seriously.
xartom Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 Managed to get caught up on coursera and housework.
Emily Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 Emily sleep in long champ hotel, chang sha, Hunan capitol. Jesus, pork and bacon everyday. X_X emily even saw a whole truck crawling with pink swines, some of them seems having menstruations.

xartom Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Read you could make french fries in the oven, decided to try a random recipe I found. I ended up with oven-baked potato chips, they were still good though.
LordJerle Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 After tonight, my weekend starts, AND I got my vacation time approved for my birthday Also, in the morning, I get to join in on a nice little war in C&C:TA ^^
Nonsense667 Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 MORE STAR TREK QUOTES YAY "Sir, the Federation does have enemies! We must seek them out!" "Oh, yes. That's how it starts. But the road from legitimate suspicion to rampant paranoia is very much shorter than we think. Something is wrong here, Mr. Worf; I don't like what we have become!" - Worf and Picard "You know, there are some words I've known since I was a schoolboy: 'With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censured...the first thought forbidden...the first freedom denied--chains us all irrevocably.' Those words were uttered by Judge Aaron Satie, as wisdom...and warning. The first time any man's freedom is trodden on, we're all damaged. I fear that today--" - Picard Picard is so damn awesome.
Monsto Brukes Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 I've just realized today that I'm going to die alone, but also realized that I don't really care. It's amazing, the kinds of realizations you can have when your thirty year old arab friend lectures you for an hour about how you have to change your entire appearance in order for people to take you seriously. He neglected to tell you some details. 1) People won't take you seriously if you don't appear to take yourself seriously. This is true almost exclusively when you're trying to be credible. 2) People who are hung up on how you look have already decided how they're going to treat you. The clothes are just an excuse. A few years ago, I went to a job interview in my pajamas. I was there all day, almost missed my flight home and I got the job. Why? they were a tad more interested in what was between my ears that on my back. MORE STAR TREK QUOTES YAY "Sir, the Federation does have enemies! We must seek them out!" "Oh, yes. The end.

Nonsense667 Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 Shocking footage of people being filmed when they didn't think anyone was recording. http://samuel-warde.com/2013/09/craziest-footage-youll-see-captured-security-cameras-video/

Nonsense667 Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 I got lost in Youtube, but I found this because of it. It made me smile. Ahem. FOOLY COOLY /squee
Cynical Misanthrope Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 Few years back, I lost a very close friend of mine due to me being an asshole. Few days back, I got really drunk and decided to call her. I was prepared for the worst, but even so, I guess I wanted some kind of closure. How wrong I was. We talked for an hour about our lives, things that has happen to us, and pretty much everything between heaved and hell. And we also decided to meet up. So today we meet and it was like we were never really apart from each other at all. We just picked up were we left off and it felt amazing. I asked for her forgivingness, but she just said "there is nothing to forgive, I know how you felt and went through and I wasn't strong enough to support you" She knows me better than I know myself and vice versa. I'm really lucky and glad to have her back in my life again,
Nonsense667 Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 "When a man has so far corrupted and prostituted the chastity of his mind, as to subscribe his professional belief to things he does not believe, he has prepared himself for the commission of every other crime." - Thomas Paine I swear. Makes me feel all tingly even just reading the thing. It's so damn powerful. Full section it comes from: It is impossible to calculate the moral mischief, if I may so express it, that mental lying has produced in society. When a man has so far corrupted and prostituted the chastity of his mind, as to subscribe his professional belief to things he does not believe, he has prepared himself for the commission of every other crime. He takes up the trade of a priest for the sake of gain, and in order to qualify himself for that trade, he begins with a perjury. Can we conceive any thing more destructive to morality than this?
Nonsense667 Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 studies show that fidgeting, pacing and other unconscious movements can contribute to a greater total calorie burn than formal exercise does. Well no wonder I've been able to keep off any large amount of excess weight, without me exercising any. XD
Guest carywinton Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Satisfaction: Got AG3 running almost perfect on my VM, just have to add in a few of the mods I like now. Would love to try out that game, I heard it was pretty fun, any sources for it and the associated Mods you mentioned? Positive thought for today; "Do not let the world dictate to you, make it bend (over) to your will instead." lol
Cynical Misanthrope Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 Yesterday I called my family. We haven't spoken to each others in years. Not that we have any issues, but we have that kind of relation. You know, don't speak to each other in years, when we finally do, it was like we talked yesterday. I got the news that two of my younger sisters has squeezed out one "poop package" each. And the third (who is the youngest) has moved to U.K to do some kind of work. And my mom and dad hos moved to a new house. Gosh, so much has happen in five years. But it was very nice to talk to them again and they invited me to dinner next weekend. Feels really great!

AgentChicken Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Besides having the Flu, going to Tafe or College for you Americans, has really changed my not just mentally but physically. Before Tafe i was unemployed for two and a half years, rejection after rejection causing me to become Depressed and not even go outside for weeks, my social life turned to barkers eggs and i was alone. But now that i have enrolled in Tafe and have been doing work in a whole new environment i have noticed that my social life has returned and i am smarter than i thought. Being at Tafe with other older or mature people has really helped me get back into study and brought a whole new outlook on life. Even to the point where i am considering a career in Psychology, being a Therapist.
Nonsense667 Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 I have to admit, I love it when it's time to make our posts in my class's blog, and all of the other posts already made are "Yes, I agree with teacher," "Yes, I agree with teacher," "Yes, I agree with teacher," "What we have been taught is correct," "I think what we were taught is right," "The teacher was right," "Yes, this is the correct way," and then for mine... http://youtu.be/ARDhJ2dpuYU?t=47s
