The Ancient Profession 2024-06-24

I have an odd problem with this mod, related to the inn in Riverwood. When starting on a new save, using the Riverwood inn start from Alternate Start, as soon as I turn the camera right (i.e., towards the direction of the entrance), my game just freezes. As in, music keeps playing but no change in image and inputs won't work either. Using a different start gives me ILS when trying to enter said inn.
Any ideas what kind of mod interference could cause such an issue?

I did a little digging into the Frostfall system and it uses a function from Campfire to detect interior cells from worldspaces and such. So it detects the brothel as interior just fine, but because it's in Windhelm location, is always chilly, even interiors, unless there's a campfire inside. For more coverage a patch is needed to mark the whole cell as warm (I think it's done by formlist).

 

So the caveman solution, to not make silly patches, is to place campfires strategically along the rooms. I will upload the esp replacer in the TAP Interiors thread. I also put a small fireplace on the party room wall. It will lit the place when the naked party is running to avoid frostbiting to death.

Doing the quest to get a license in solitude, and even though I have an objective to talk to falk after recruiting four girls, he has no dialogue

If you mean when you get reported for unlicensed prostitution or public sex, I did at one time plan to make you get in trouble with Dibella's Garden for breaking prostitution laws. I'm not sure I still want to do that. There are enough other things forcing players to get licensed. The one exception to that may be when you work in a Dibella's Garden brothel unlicensed. There is already dialogue for the madam to threaten to fire you for doing that. I just haven't gotten around to implementing any actual consequences for it.

Not right off. I don't think I've made many if any edits to that cell. I think everyone who goes there gets teleported in.

I think the objective just after the one I was stuck at has the time limit. Weirdly it seems like this was cause by a different mod's dialogue blocking some of Falk's dialogue topics, once I talked to him about some unrelated stuff this topic as well as some vanilla topics reappeared. Sorry for false report.

Thank you so much for looking into this. Hjerm TNF Beds Plus must have a formlist built into it to make the house warm everywhere, although there are also a lot of fires in the house. It also has a secluded outdoor bath where the water steams and despite being outdoors it is warm, probably because the water is heated. How the mod author managed that is anyone's guess. My character took advantage of the tiny warm outdoor area and planted a mini-garden there using Farm Everywhere.  I imagine the TNF author must have really known their stuff as far as Frostfall-Campfire went. I have another house mod in Falkreath where the bath water steams but is ice cold, so there definitely must be some expertise required.

 

I'll see if I can stick a compact cooking set from the Live Anywhere shack mod into my character's room in Dibella's Garden: Windhelm. I may have to disable and replace the chest at the end of the bed with a more compact end table to make room. In any case that should heat her room right up and being at the end of the bed it will keep her toes warm. The shack mod is Frostfall Friendly and the fires from it make places warm.

I'll need more information. I don't really know what quest you're having a problem with. The special jobs in Whiterun all work, so if those are what you're doing then please provide more details.

I managed to get a little further into this mod before my Skyrim crapped out on me for unrelated reasons.  But I have to say, thank you very much for creating this.  It feels fundamentally different from all other current prostitution mods out there because it feels... respectful.  I'm unsure if that's the right word but that's the feeling I get as I've progressed through the quests so far.  It also makes the NPCs seem more full bodied, as it were, and makes me far more interested in their backstories.  Masterfully done, good ser.

Thanks! I don't know if that's the exact right word for what I'm going for either but one of several reasons I started making TAP was that I did feel like there are a lot of mods that come across a bit hateful and not enough that don't. Which is fine for people who want that. I just don't.

For the job quests, the dialogue will be limited to the lower room of the brothel.

Should that go in lower case too?? or, just the ones that have the id outfits?? because it keeps saying that it cant load the outfits (I put them in lower case just to test)

You have several problems in your file. Lower case should only matter in the names of each setting in the "stringList" section. It should not matter in the entries inside square brackets.

• On line 14, or dgbartenderbodyplugins, the text [Melodic] is not in quotes. If the name of the plugin is [Melodic] Waitress.esp then it must be written as "[Melodic] Waitress.esp". Actually it looks like you may have already corrected this one.
• On line 16, or dgmagebodyplugins, you are missing a comma between "Malediction Outfit.esp" and "Lazman_Outfits.esp".
• On line 52, or dgmagebody - MaledictionOutfit.esp, after correcting that to lower case you also have an extra comma at the end of the form ID list.
• On line 64, the last entry in the "stringList" section, you have an extra comma at the end of the line

It would be nice to add the ability to save/load settings. The mod menu is quite extensive, and I, for example, change a lot there. Ideally, you would add autoloading altogether. For example, support for MCMhelper.

Post processing for Female Commander voice type, because I spend a lot of time at the Dibella's Garden outside of Solitude and needed the madame to sound a little better.  Examples below but there's only so much the tools I have can do, but it does sound a little better.

I've got it on my list. I just haven't gotten around to it yet.
