companion Meet Companion Ivy

Just did a new save without BC from the very start, still got a freeze.
Do you see anything else in my load order that might be causing it? Cause if not, I think I really just have to stop using her. I can't really play when there's a random chance of freezing in any combat.

Most likely culprit then. It not quite well handles even with vanilla companions (MacCready for example). Try to disable it and start over. See if it helps. You could still use it after couple of tryouts and tinkering. But its a little headache for some ppl.

 

I know that Reginald recommends against using any multi-follower mod with Ivy except his own, but I also use Liga and just make sure to recruit Ivy first.  While the OP may have some other mod that is interacting/interfering with Liga, I never had an issue with recruiting her.

 

It's worth it to try without Liga to see what happens, but I'm not sure that's it.

SS2 maybe, as it heavily scripted and tends to mess with any companions

Nope, still freezing even without that.
Jeez, this is a real humdinger. It's a shame, cause I had a lot of fun with her, but this is just getting ridiculous. I'm going to try a basically zero mod setup, just Ivy and a quickstart mod, and see if that's stable.

It's the best, quickest and painless solution I thought of, instead of trying to tweak LIGA as I think OP not quite experienced in modding. They could've provide modlist for better understanding

I already tried it, it's not the best solution. After turning on the "League", problems with Ivy begin after a while. Either she is silent on the question or the question simply skips. So it's not an option. But the problem is different for me, I can't find a mod for partners from Reginald. For some reason he doesn't reply to me on Discord.

His multi-follower mod is only on his Discord I think.

 

Look for RAMFM (I think?) Reg's Awesome Multi Follower Mod.  It will let you have Ivy (recruit her first) and one other vanilla companion.  You might be able to use it with the mod "Everyone's Best Friend" on Nexus if you also want Dogmeat.

Basically zero mods worked, but then I've got basically zero mods lol.
Even climbing back up my list and re-enabling stuff chunk by chunk, I can't figure out what exactly is causing the freezes since it's so random and I don't have a sure-fire way to reproduce it. I think it might just be a general script sensitivity maybe? Which is weird, cause I've got a fairly beastly PC so I would expect it to be able to handle anything.
So, I think I've just got to give it up and not use her. A real shame, she's probably the best FO4 companion I've seen so far, aside from this issue.

Handful doesn't mean healthy. Do not wanna to crap on them, but kinggath & Co made something altered of modding, like Nex group overall. Read my mind, "bear" with me, they'll capitalize it soon... Not entire monetarily  (you should know I'm predicter)... Arthmoor knows what I mean

why would you need to?

 

It's not something you have to do as soon as Ivy mentions it.

I just don't like the quest.  I don't really want to get into it.  I just want to know if it's safe to turn it off.  Ivy already has me tracking down Mercy's journal, and IIRC, Nuka World triggers after the 5th journal (unless Mercy's dress is after the journal.  Don't remember for sure.)

It's the basic preset of Ivy, nothing changed in her face from her original look.

Isn't her default appearance the one with the hair slicked back? maybe I'm wrong

You are correct, the hair and outfit was changed in the photo that you inquired about, Ivys' appearance can be totally customized using console commands along with looks menu, instructions on how to do this are in the description, and in the forum(posted by me), also there are several presets(one of these utilizes that hair style, and is very well done) made by Ivy supporters are listed thru out this forum, so , put your reading glasses on(lol if ya need um, I'm blind with hairy knuckles) and you're guaranteed to find every thing you need.
