Well - what is "old" anyway - I also had to work with lock cards during my studies from 1983-88...
...because that was part of the official computer science class - writing some "program" fragments for a mainframe computer.

While you signed up for the optional lecture in the first semester - that was about the programming of pocket calculators...
...and from the 3rd semester - parallel to the informative classes - you did your first little scientific work on an 8-bit system in assembler.

Back then, everything boiled down to doing as much as possible with the few resources you had...
...and then came 1989 - the "turnaround" - and you were in the "golden" west and learned something completely different.
1st visit to the CeBit - had to work through a few official orders - including checking what mapping systems for environmental problems already exist.
A company (at that time still quite well-known and busy) - sent me to a software company - which was just developing a mapping program for garbage dumps (i.e. where and when which dangerous cargo is buried).

The chief developer - barely 30 years old (so like me) pulled off a real performance firework - when I asked which machines would be used to implement this - the clear statement came - that the crappy PC for his high-end product was complete unsuitable - it's not so difficult to expand them with new "tons" of GB memory.

So because of economical programming - nothing there - and if the program code does not fit into the memory - the code is not checked and purged - no - you'd better tap an extension on it.

But I've been watching this since 1991 - so for me since I started modifying games about 20 years ago...
...an economical use of resources has never happened.

Trying to re-build FO4 after the Nexus decision to unilaterally hold all mods forever is a mess.  trying to track down all the deleted mods I used to use (looking for updates) is turning into a very time consuming ordeal.

Does anyone know of a comprehensive list of what mods were deleted and where they are now?  I have a few different lists, but searching through three or four lists for that ONE mod is getting a bit old....

Is there a way to get the countdown on radio again after you claim ivy?

I don't think so. It's part of the quest stage before redeeming her and conditioned to run on that quest stage only.

so, third playthrough with Ivy. Just got the Nuka World quest and realized... I never got the quest for the magazine racks.  O.o

Isn't that one of the first?

Sometimes the quest itself doesn't kick off. But it will still run if you start it through the magazine holotape. If you don't have it in your inventory then build one through a chem station.

Trying to find certain Fallout 4 mods is a pain in the ass. Lots of stuff is scattered across an uncharted sea of Patreons and Discord servers. My advice is that if isn't easily found/accessible then forget it and move on. If mod authors want to make it is hard as possible for people to access/use their mods then that's on them and it's probably not worth using.

Well - in ancient times there was a Greek poet named Aesop - who wrote a fable about the "fox and the grapes"

and exactly this parable happened here "...the grapes are not worth the effort - they are much too sour..."

*hahaha*

Sorry - I've rarely read more contempt for the people who share their work with others for FREE... and I have only the deepest contempt for such people

I don't know where you're getting contempt from. All I'm saying is there's plenty of alternatives, so if certain authors want their stuff to be hidden where most people will never find it, then maybe instead of people having to hunt for it they should just look for more easily accessible alternatives instead. And also, there's many instances where the mods are not free, but instead behind a Patreon paywall.

Rats.

Because of the Dark One's greed, we can't have good things.  He took The Nexus from a nice place to a very dark place in a few years...  I knew that the end was nigh when he started spouting the word 'monetize'.

Running with Ivy again and for some reason, on this play through, she's never said anything about a "spare secondary processor".

Also, on a personal note, i love how open she is to all manner of things, but i wouldn't mind her having more normal conversations and random dialogues.  She's obsessed with porn and talks about little else.  I guess i'm having porn-ivy burnout.

I know i can disable her more obscene dialogue, but then i feel guilty (props for making her that immersive) and it also tends to start giving messages about unblocking said content when i try to talk to her about "what do you think of our relationship".

Ask her multiple times in a row, she gives that message only once every few times.

Hi, there's no NX-2C Neural Control Holotape in inv>Misc. Any way to add it on console or where to get it? I can't do the Into the deep quest

Had something odd happen to me recently on a new playthrough.  Not monumental, not Ivy-breaking, just...odd.

So, I think it's known that when you first go to Diamond City with Ivy, she mentions Takahashi (sp?) and that when she gets close enough, some dialog will occur. However, there's a slight bug and Ivy initially greets Takahashi and then proceeds to walk in the opposite direction, towards the Diamond City exit. I decided to try something different than I normally do and instead of triggering all this, I went directly for the Piper interview, going into her and Nat's house. After the interview, my party left Piper's house...and nothing.

Ivy didn't approach Takahashi at first, so I went over and went through his dialog (meaning his "selling noodles" dialog...vanilla stuff)...Ivy walked next to me, but didn't say anything at all.  Now, just before we entered the Diamond City cell, she DID say her line about finding Takahashi, but once inside, and after the Piper Interview, nothing.

Don't know if this'll be useful or a nothingburger, but I just thought I'd add it here.  Ivy and I are VERY early in the questing; I don't think we're even lovers as yet, tho she has stated she's feeling a connection starting up.  I'm also trying out the "Nora Spouse Companion" for the first time...she seems to be working well with Ivy.

UPDATE: Went back to Diamond City...same deal. It's like by doing the interview first, I just overrode the Takahashi section.  Weird.

Also, the "Nora Spouse Companion" is very bare bones, sadly.  She doesn't even have sleeping animations, for pity's sake.  ;/  Would love it if she would sleep in the bed I use after reaching full affinity...does anybody know how to use the GECK to make that happen?

Are there any repeatable actions that would increase Ivy's affinity? Aside from talking to her.

Go to the technical and gameplay documentation here:

Then scroll down to the long and elaborate text file called 'affinity' for all information about Ivy's affinity:

@Reginald_001, I am trying to download, but it says I don't have permissions on the GDrive.  Is the mod locked at the moment?  I would like to play this mod in my upcoming playthrough.  thanks.

It's not. Try the regular browser tricks to get google to play nice.

So I am having trouble finding a definitive answer to this as some places say its 72 and others say 78. How many magazines are there in the Ivy magazine add on? I have 72 right now and a metric shit ton of copies but I haven't seen a new magazine in quite some time now. Do I have all of them or do I need to keep scouring the commonwealth? Thanks in advance!
