shar181 Posted November 6, 2019 Posted November 6, 2019 I accidentally submitted this in the LE tech support forum, but please be aware that I'm using SSE! ------------------ I'm sure everyone has seen this at one time or another. You walk into a house and notice that an NPC inside is as pale as... well, a Nord, except for a gloriously dark-skinned face. I'm also sure we all know the usual causes of this bug. Missing facegen data, usually coming from a plugin that simply didn't properly export it. An easy fix. Usually. But I've run into a bit of an unusual form of the brown-face bug. In my game, every single vampire suffers from it. This includes both vampires from the vanilla game and vampires added by mods. This was not always the case; I can't pinpoint the exact moment it happened, unfortunately, but not too long ago they were all very normal and unbugged. I must have done something or installed something that broke them, but I have no idea what. I've tried the usual fixes: Opened up the CK, loaded up all the stuff that includes vampires (The main file, all the DLCs, all the mods that alter or add vampires) and exported the facegen data for every single one of the bloodsuckers. Made a new plugin in the CK, where I personally alter every single vampire and then exported the facegen data. Disabled every mod which looked like it might have something to do with changing the appearance of vampires. Used the console command SetNPCWeight to "reset" individual vampires in-game. Only that third one worked. And it only works until I leave the cell with the vampire in it; as soon as I reload my game or enter/leave the area, their face reverts to the brown-face. At this point I'm stumped. Admittedly, this is not an enormous issue... but its frustrating and unsightly, and I would really like to fix it. If anyone has any ideas for how to fix this, or how to track down the cause, I'm all ears! ❤️ LO: Spoiler 0 0 Skyrim.esm 1 1 Update.esm 2 2 Dawnguard.esm 3 3 HearthFires.esm 4 4 Dragonborn.esm 254 FE 0 ccbgssse002-exoticarrows.esl 254 FE 1 ccbgssse010-petdwarvenarmoredmudcrab.esl 254 FE 2 ccbgssse014-spellpack01.esl 254 FE 3 ccfsvsse001-backpacks.esl 254 FE 4 ccvsvsse002-pets.esl 254 FE 5 ccbgssse037-curios.esl 254 FE 6 ccffbsse002-crossbowpack.esl 5 5 RSkyrimChildren.esm 6 6 Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch.esp 7 7 BSAssets.esm 8 8 BSHeartland.esm 9 9 BS_DLC_patch.esp 10 a SexLab.esm 11 b Devious Devices - Assets.esm 12 c LegacyoftheDragonborn.esm 13 d CreatureFramework.esm 14 e ApachiiHair.esm 15 f Schlongs of Skyrim - Core.esm 16 10 GenderBender.esm 17 11 Campfire.esm 18 12 SexLabAroused.esm 19 13 Devious Devices - Integration.esm 20 14 Devious Devices - Expansion.esm 21 15 ZaZAnimationPack.esm 22 16 daymoyl.esm 23 17 EFFCore.esm 24 18 JRSpellPackPatch.esp 25 19 ELFX - Exteriors.esp 26 1a SkyUI_SE.esp 27 1b ImprovedHearthfireLighting.esp 28 1c 3DNPC.esp 29 1d EnhancedLightsandFX.esp 30 1e iNeed.esp 31 1f TrueStormsSE.esp 32 20 MoreNastyCritters.esp 33 21 RSChildren Patch - BS Bruma.esp 34 22 RSChildren.esp 35 23 SexLab TDF Aggressive Prostitution.esp 36 24 Race Scale Remover.esp 37 25 SOS_Ho.esp 38 26 RaceMenu.esp 39 27 RaceMenuPlugin.esp 40 28 DBM_RSChildren.esp 41 29 DVA - Dynamic Vampire Appearance.esp 254 FE 7 RSC_USSEP_AventusFix.esp 42 2a MilkModNEW.esp 43 2b MilkMod_MilkPumpsFancy.esp 44 2c SexLab_Solutions.esp 45 2d EFFDialogue.esp 46 2e SexLab Inflation Framework.esp 47 2f zzEstrus.esp 48 30 Predator Vision.esp 49 31 CBBE.esp 50 32 RaceMenuMorphsCBBE.esp 51 33 LewdMarks.esp 254 FE 8 SINful CBP.esp 52 34 SimplyKnock.esp 53 35 MoonlightTalesMCM.esp 54 36 XPMSE.esp 55 37 SOSRaceMenu.esp 56 38 SLSO_F_VP_The Girl Next Door.esp 57 39 SLSO_F_VP_Maria.esp 58 3a SLSO_F_VP_Eliz.esp 59 3b SLSO.esp 60 3c No NPC Greetings.esp 61 3d CommunityOverlays2_31T50.esp 254 FE 9 SexlabLightMeUp.esp 62 3e Cassandra Apocrypha CBBE SE.esp 63 3f SLAL_AnimationsByLeito.esp 64 40 SLAL_K4Anims.esp 65 41 SLAL_AnimationByBakaFactory.esp 66 42 NibblesAnimObjects.esp 67 43 sr_FillHerUp.esp 68 44 SOS - Leito Addon.esp 69 45 SexLabTools.esp 70 46 SuperbSerana.esp 71 47 YourMarketStall.esp 72 48 Shars Signs - The Lover 10%.esp 73 49 SexLab Enchantress.esp 74 4a ArgonianFins.esp 75 4b LWPlayerHeadTracking.esp 76 4c Bolt Vendors.esp 77 4d BVFE.esp 78 4e SOS - ERF Horse Penis CBBE - Addon.esp 79 4f ImprovedNPCs.esp 80 50 SOS - Smurf Average Addon.esp 81 51 SOS - VectorPlexus Muscular Addon.esp 82 52 SOS - VectorPlexus Regular Addon.esp 83 53 Schlongs of Skyrim.esp 84 54 SOS - ERF - HighPoly Addon.esp 85 55 SOS - ERF - HighPoly Equipable.esp 86 56 SLAnimLoader.esp 87 57 AnubAnimObj.esp 88 58 SexLabDefeat.esp 89 59 TDF_AP_IndHookersPlug_In.esp 90 5a SlaveTats.esp 91 5b SlaveTatsEventsBridge.esp 92 5c Skyrim_Strap_Ons.esp 93 5d UIExtensions.esp 94 5e NewmillerPiercings2.esp 95 5f NewmillerPiercings3.esp 96 60 ORM-Arvak.esp 97 61 JRArcaneArcherPack.esp 98 62 JRDwarvenMudcrabPatch.esp 99 63 SLALAnimObjBillyy.esp 100 64 EstrusChaurus.esp 101 65 EstrusSpider.esp 102 66 SL Survival.esp 103 67 Run For Your Lives.esp 104 68 Cloaks - No Imperial.esp 105 69 DBM_Bruma_Patch.esp 106 6a Deviously Cursed Loot.esp 107 6b Hunterborn.esp 108 6c MistySkye.esp 109 6d MiasLair.esp 110 6e Frostfall.esp 111 6f SexLab-AmorousAdventures.esp 254 FE a BSHeartland - Unofficial Patch.esp 112 70 Devious Cidhna.esp 113 71 Laura's Bondage Shop.esp 114 72 TheAmazingWorldOfBikiniArmor.esp 115 73 Hunterborn - iNeed Patch.esp 254 FE b Bruma - iNeed Patch.esp 116 74 HentaiCreatures.esp 117 75 EstrusTrappedEggs.esp 118 76 Cloaks - USSEEP Patch - No Imperial.esp 119 77 Cloaks - No Imperial - Dawnguard.esp 120 78 RSC 3DNPC Patch.esp 121 79 TimingIsEverything.esp 122 7a InnRoomCosts.esp 123 7b InnRoomCosts - BS Bruma Patch.esp 124 7c Spank That Ass.esp 125 7d SpousesEnhancedSE.esp 126 7e SexLab Eager NPCs.esp 127 7f BecomeABard.esp 128 80 DeadlyDragons.esp 129 81 HornyCreatures.esp 130 82 Moonlight Tales Special Edition.esp 131 83 Hunterborn - Campfire Patch.esp 132 84 FNIS.esp 133 85 12FemaleBrows.esp 134 86 ERF - Ceraph.esp 135 87 SOS - Pubic Hair for Females Addon (All Styles).esp 136 88 MilkModNEW CF.esp 137 89 MilkModNEW HF.esp 138 8a JaxonzEnhGrab.esp 139 8b MilkModNEW Sanbox.esp 140 8c OrcFemaleAnimations.esp 141 8d -RestoredObjects.esp 142 8e MilkModNEW ZaZ.esp 143 8f Ordinator - Perks of Skyrim.esp 144 90 Ordinator - Beyond Skyrim Bruma Patch.esp 145 91 Apocalypse - Magic of Skyrim.esp 146 92 Apocalypse - Ordinator Compatibility Patch.esp 147 93 Alternate Start - Live Another Life.esp 148 94 Immersive Citizens - AI Overhaul.esp 149 95 ELFXEnhancer.esp 150 96 Immersive Citizens - ELFXEnhancer patch.esp 151 97 SexLabHorribleHarassment.esp

Open your console and select them. On the right hand side of the screen there should be a listing of the last mod that affects this NPC. Since it is happening to all your vampires there is a good chance that the mod identified is the one causing the problem. Simply turn it off and see if your problem is solved.

I tried this on Sybille first... then remembered that I had given her a makeover in my personal NPC improvement mod. xD So I spawned in a Vampire Fledgling. As expected, she was brown-faced. Sadly, the field "Base Last Changed By" lists Dawnguard.esm... so I don't think that's the problem. x.x

Since Dawnguard is an esm EVERYTHING that changes you vampires will come after that. SOMETHING must be making those faces brown and it MUST come after Dawnguard if, as you said in your OP, you can get the faces back to normal by eliminating ALL the vampire mods.

I think there's a misunderstanding. Eliminating all of my vampire-related mods did not fix the issue. If it had, I could have just re-enabled them and turned them off one-by-one until I found the one causing it. The problem does not seem to be tied to any one mod; I think it probably has something to do with the headmorphs applied to vampire characters... except that all the vampire races have their own headmorphs, and this bug is happening regardless of their race.

Your problen, probably, is related to the leveled list. The vampires, normally, are generated dinamically from the leveled list. Each time you enter a location with vampires, bandits or forsworn the game generate diferent NPC's of diferent race, sex, type and hability. Usually the vampires, bandits and forsworn have a code that start by FF but other times have a fixed code, that start with 00=skyrim or 02=dawnguard, because are fixed NPC's but really come from the same leveled list that the generated. Export the facegen pressing F4 in CK only can cause more problems and never can solve the problem because the definitions inside the leveled list take preference. If the NPC's is generated in a specific race and the facegen not match the race of the generated NPC the bad and incorrectly exported facegen can CAUSE the problem. Take a look to this post. https://www.loverslab.com/topic/121256-grey-face/

My only take-away was that this Yatol is a bit of a git. xD It sounds like my problem may be related to incorrectly exported facegen. I did attempt to fix the problem by re-exporting the facegen data for all of the game's vampires but... I didn't try that until after the bug had already appeared. And it seems odd that a bug caused by that would be affecting all the vampires added by mods, including unique vampires added by other mods (like Interesting NPCs). Still, is there a way I could test this?

If have bad face the problem come from the bad facegens. If have good face the problem come from the leveled list in the mods. Then, follow my instructions in the post. Open your entire mod list in Ted5Edit and search the code of the base actor. Look what mods change that leveled list and start disabling mods. If the problem persist search the code of the leveled list for find the code of the actors and look what mods change that actors.

So I opened everything up in SSEEdit and found Sybille Stentor (Base ID: 000132AA). If I'm reading this right, the only things affecting her are Skyrim.esm, Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch.esp, and ImprovedNPCs.esp. I'll be honest, I've never used SSEEdit before (Or TES5Edit, for that matter!) so it all looks very confusing to me. However, I did spot something that looks... maybe like it isn't quite as it should be: Spoiler Well, that looks awfully suspicious. I wonder what I'll find on a different vampire like... Hert, maybe: Spoiler I'm starting to see a pattern emerging. Let's check out Hert's live-in boyfriend/amateur target dummy, Hern: Spoiler I guess Hern has the right head texture. But still, is it normal for Hert and Sybille to have the FemaleOrcVampire head texture? If not, maybe the problem, somehow, is the USSEP.

In my game i see exactly the same and, of course, i not have any problem with Sybille Stentor. You can try disable ImprovedNPCs but i doubth that can solve your problem.

Yeah, ImprovedNPCs is just my personal mod to give makeovers to NPCs that I like, but aren't pretty enough. x3 I've tried disabling it with no effect. I will have to do the test with a Pure Vanilla game at some other time. I don't want to risk accidentally destroying my current save during the process. But I'm sure I'll have the urge to start again sometime soon, and I'll test it then. In the meantime, thanks for your help! ❤️

Your current savegame can NOT be destroyed in any way. The savegames are stored in the hard disk. The only way for lost your current savegame is DELETE your current savegame. Every time you start a new game with Alternate Start the game create NEW savegames that not have any relation with the older savegames. Start a new game NEVER can delete or break yours OLD savegames. That only can be made manually. Other diferent history is preserve your current installation with the actual mods that you have enabled today. The best way for preserve your current installation is create a NEW PROFILE in your manager. All the mod managers, NMM, MO, Vortex..., allow you create a NEW PROFILE and give you a separate configuration for make test. I have 6 diferent profiles in Vortex, 4 in MO and 2 in NMM.

I know it shouldn't be possible to destroy the save, but I've had unfortunate mishaps in the past when doing things like this. xD I've already had to start all over 4 times in the last couple weeks, so I'm just not willing to risk it until I'm ready to make a new game.

After seeing that even Serana was affected by this bug, I got a little bit desperate and decided to give this test a try (using Vortex's profile feature, which I've never used before). I loaded the game up with no mods other than the ones I've gotten from the Creation Club, and the Alternate Start mod. I chose the Vampire start to save time, and found that with no mods active there is no brown-face. So there must be a bad mod responsible for this but... I have no idea which one it might be. I've already tried disabling every vampire-related mod with no effect, so I can only guess that it must be a seemingly unrelated mod. Anyway, now that I've identified a bad mod as the problem, where do I go from here?
Grey Cloud Posted November 9, 2019 Posted November 9, 2019 Use this. Vampire Skin Colour Fix. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/25382 @worik or @donttouchmethere put me on to it a couple of months ago.

I will give that a try, if my current experiment doesn't pan out! I think it probably won't work though... looking at the comments for the mod, it seems like a lot of the people it worked for were only getting this bug with a few vampires. Whereas I'm getting it with every single vampire, including mod-added ones or vampires with specific, individual overhauls (like Serana). ><; 3 minutes ago, donttouchmethere said: Was me, but it's for LE. Heroine HoneyCrotch Posted November 9, 2019 Posted November 9, 2019 I don't do SE and don't know about vortex, my guess is it's the eyes. Dawnguard changes the meshes for female and male eyes. i would load all mods into xedit and click on skyrim or dawnguard esm and then open headparts and click on female/male vampire eyes and see if any other mod is reverting dawnguards eyes back to vanilla.

What would help to make it more obvious it's for SE so ppl that want to help are in the right mindset. best to put the vampire fix below every mod that adds any kind of vampire/modifies vampires to the game even better: below everything that adds/changes NPCs

I did this, and it doesn't look like anything else is affecting the vampire eyes. Two of the entries were highlighted with green, but they were still only affected by Skyrim.esm and Dawnguard.esm.

I'm a bit concerned about the instructions on that mod's page, though. If I make changes to Skyrim's data folder outside of Vortex, won't that (potentially) cause issues when I re-deploy these mods?

In order to use that mod I created a new zip archive and put inside an updated .esp (re-saved with the SSE Creation Kit), as well as copies of the skin textures mentioned in the mods description, then installed via Vortex. All for naught; the fix did not work. ;_;

You install it via vortex, so if you uninstall it vortex it should revert everything back to where it was before. Same as with any other mod too. In this case it's a single esp (IIRC) I guess you mean this? "for this mod to work as intended, you need to do the following (Optional)" Do that only if the simple install of the esp via Vortex doesn't show an effect ingame. On my setup I didn't had to do the "optional" part for it to fix all vampires (that does only mean it worked, doesn't mean it's possible on every LO out there ?)

I'm out of ideas again. ><; I'm going to peruse SSEEdit and see if I can find something thats affecting the vampire race geometry.
Heroine HoneyCrotch Posted November 9, 2019 Posted November 9, 2019 Vortex, does that have vfs like MO? all vampires are botched? male/female vanilla/custom followers? you had said something about serana, what mod do you have for serana? bijin? I was thinking maybe the various vampire races had got overwriting, head textures get applied there but if you have serana messed up she uses nord race, very stumped on this one.
