Drow Race - Unofficial Dawnguard Edition

Heya, I'm a frequent user of this race. (I think most of my characters have been Drow, actually), but I'm having an issue. Since I've upgraded to the new version with SoS support, the game has been crashing every time I try to load a save game with my male drow. Any tips or solutions?

Ouch! That's... unfortunate. I'm sorry I feel really bad for not thinking about possible save breaking with the update, since I didn't have a male character around before making one to test the reported SoS problems.

 

Only thing I can think of is revert to the previous version. I hope you still have it, because I lost all the archived versions in a stupid accident.

 

If you don't have it, try going in with tes5edit, navigate to armor addon and see if changing male 1st person model back to malebody_1.nif can salvage your save. Don't know if it will work but give it a shot.

Lol! I come across this after spending so much time using  Zazemel's 'Drow Race BETA'. I have created custom body textures that are 4K textures using various high def skin textures. I had converted the specular 'tatto' pattern on the face and body to actual tattoos that can be modified in RaceMenu and added glow effect. That being said I spent quite a lot of hours making the Drow race juuuuuuust right and now I see this and can't help but facepalm.

Are the drow males compatible with SOS?

By that I mean are they using the SOS male bodies?

Considering I'm currently using a Drow character right now, Zazamels. I've rather enjoyed using it, but seeing this... I'm going to have to compare. So, first, I'll create a brand new character just to see how it looks... then I'll actually try and swap my current character with this race. Though, I know you're not supposed to do that, but I'll be sure to safety save just to be sure I don't muck things up too much.

 

edit: Oh wow! I didn't exactly realize just how much it affected! But... the textures that come with it are almost matte looking, and the markings seem to be more... noticeable. 

 

I think the only thing I prefer from Zazimels now, is the fact that his Drow Race had a +5 to both Destruction magic and Archery. But, hey, no big deal. If anything, this balances it more so they're less OP.

Q: Does this work with my old 'Drow Race BETA' saves?
A: It should work as long as you're not using the removed child race. You may have to enter the race menu again to fix skin colour if it's mismatched.

 

 

 

So... uh... I kind of feel like an idiot here. Probably should have read this first to know that I wouldn't have any issues. Oh well, now I'm much better educated xD.

Does this have an SOS compatible version/patch somewhere or is it still and forever going to be the equip-able schlong?

First, nice work! Runs smoothly... but the body looks kinda "pixely"... not the fault of the texture, I've tried a few. Probably a "normal map" or how is it called since other races have no problems.

Can someone help me with that?

it is always helpful at texture problems, upload a few pictures. further, it is important to provide the body types.

I use CHSBHC and I have no problems.

You're right. I'm sorry.

Anyway, the problem is solved. Used a different normal map.

I have no idea what went wrong...unlike yours, mine was all blocky.

Do not know exactly, I always use with tattoos.

This thread is likely dead and I don't expect the creator to come back since they haven't been on in darn near 3 years, but I'm having trouble porting this to Skyrim SE if anyone would have an idea of what to do. I followed the "how to port almost any oldrim mod" to SE and... well, it just crashes when I select the Drow race.
